TTC after miscarriage - May 2020

I'm CD1 of cycle 2 TTC #1 so thought I'd start a new thread for anybody in the same situation who didn't get their April BFP.

I had a MMC found on a scan at 9.5weeks after seeing HB at 7 weeks 🙁 I had SMM on the 19th March but no luck in my first month and AF got me today. Normal cycles are 28days so I hope to be testing around the 20th May. This month I will be tracking ovulation using CB connected and trying out Preseed for the first time hoping this helps towards my 🌈 but tonight I'll just be having a G&T 💁🏾‍♀️

@Mommybear05
Thank you! I'll keep testing then ☺️ xx

Mommybear05 · 21/04/2020 21:17

@Sho2207 hello welcome to the thread. Sorry for your losses. I don’t blame you for wanting to ttc straight away. I didn’t take a break either. Two weeks post mc you could be ovulating so yes I would take the opks if that’s what you want to do. Good luck!
@vp9x1 aw I get that too if we conceived last month I would have had another December baby. I also think of the weather. I want winter babies. I don’t fancy being heavily pregnant in summer! But of course any time would be a blessing x

VP91x · 21/04/2020 20:21

@Mommybear05 that is fantastic news!! So good that at the moment your partner is home to do all the bedtimes that will definitely help! I am so pleased for you. Hopefully this will continue and you can feel more yourself with your cycle and have your rainbow baby that will just be the best. Is this the first month that you have taken the vitamins? Yes, I thought that. If I had conceived this cycle it would have been the same month I fell pregnant with my little girl and so they would have had really close birthdays! I think about star signs and what the weather will be like for their birthday, its so easy to get lost in building a future already xx

Sho2207 · 21/04/2020 19:41

Hey! Hope it's ok to jump on.
I miscarried nearly 2 weeks ago at 6 weeks pregnant, the day after seeing the heartbeat. So it wasn't nice to get my hopes up for the next day to be a flow of blood😔.
Took a preg test yesterday and was the faintest line so hormone is nearly out my system. Shall I start testing now for ovulation? I did one today and the second line was visible enough for me to think ovulation could be coming over the next few days.
Me and partner want to start trying straight away, this is our second miscarriage, so we just want to get straight to it now. Xx

Mommybear05 · 21/04/2020 19:26

@vp91x it’s been good today thanks. He hasn’t even asked for a feed not once. I was never willing to wean to ttc before but I really don’t think he’s too bothered now. Tonight his dad is putting him to sleep again and he’s giggling and happy. He is 17 months now. Part of me wanted to feed for longer definitely but I really feel it’s best for my family to wean now. We want two more kids in an ideal world so we want to get a move on! He asked a couple of times yesterday but distracting him was so easy. And today he hasn’t been asking at all. His dad is going to put him to bed each night until the middle of May so we can break the habit and then I will take over again. It’s bittersweet but I’m so determined to give him a sibling now. Problem is I don’t think I’ll take it well this month if I get a bfn after weaning 😔 I really hope I can conceive this month. I’m on the ttc vitamins and also vitex to help regulate cycles. Hubby on ttc vitamins too. And we got the preseed lube on the way from amazon. Will be dtd at least every other day all cycle. Can’t do any more than that 🤷‍♀️ I worked it out and my 12 week scan would be around July if I conceive around now. I turn 30 that month. It would be nice to have the scan around my 30th. But I’m daydreaming now. Does anyone else do that? Think about how you will do things if you conceive this month? I really shouldn’t get my hopes up! Xx

VP91x · 21/04/2020 18:53

@SmileyT yeah, I am using femometer. Definitely agree with you I am also wishing the days away,

SmileyT · 21/04/2020 18:44

@VP91x is it femometer you are using? Yeah I'm sure it's nothing but always nice to just check in with a dr if you're worried.

@Dipsy77 I'm with you on waiting for AF to be over so we can get on with TTC.

This TTC lark really makes you wish your life away, I'm CD3 and just waiting for CD8 so I can start opk testing then I'll wish the next week away waiting for my peak then I'll wish the TWW away 😩

Dipsy77 · 21/04/2020 18:36

Let's hope we get some BFPs this month I'm hoping AF finishes in the next few days so I can start trying again x

VP91x · 21/04/2020 18:31

@SmileyT well going by my app, 14DPO but very likely to be off. It was like first day of AF. So odd! Yeah, if AF hasn't properly come after CD28 I will give my docs a ring to see if it's caused by anything xx

SmileyT · 21/04/2020 18:25

@VP91x how many dpo are you? How heavy was the bleed? I never thought I had spotting before AF before (although I'm not sure I'd remember) and I did for 24hrs before in this cycle so maybe your cycle is still just sorting itself out. If it continues for more than another few days maybe give your GP a call xx

OP posts:
VP91x · 21/04/2020 18:25

@Mommybear05 yeah you are right it probably just is hormones again. Would definitely help to just have a standard cycle!

I am glad your LO is asking less for a feed you must be so pleased. How has it been today? Xx

Mommybear05 · 21/04/2020 18:22

@VP91x hi I had quite a bit of spotting in the first cycle post mc. I had it and then it went away for a few days then came back. I never had spotting before so this was really unusual for me. I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about it’s just your hormones all over the place I think! Still it’s nice to have a regular cycle without worrying about all this! X

VP91x · 21/04/2020 16:03

Ah ladies, no idea what's going on. So day before yesterday had my bleed so was sure AF was here and since yesterday, nothing! Just back to some CM with spotting. I am assuming that AF will be here soon, but now on CD24 which is the longest I have had now since the MC. I will take it as good news that my cycle is back to a more regular potentially 26 days +. With all this spotting - do you think something could be wrong? X

SmileyT · 21/04/2020 10:38

@Lynz2020 I'd stick with one brand... So you can see them getting lighter aswell. I used clearblue and got a pretty much negative at 2weeks post surgery.

@Mommybear05 ahh I'm glad the weaning is going well... sounds like you are both ready and will definitely help with TTC, very exciting. I'm going to start looking for the rainbows now x

OP posts:
Mommybear05 · 21/04/2020 09:11

@Lynz2020 I just typed a reply to you but don’t know where it went! 🙈
I think that different tests have different sensitivity so that’s why one is positive and one is negative. It can take a while for your hormones to settle again. Personally I had no luck with opks post mc and if I were to have my time again I would avoid them and just have regular sex for a while and see what happens. I got really hung up on the sticks! I’m sure you have nothing to worry about and your hormones will sort themselves out. Maybe take a pregnancy test in a few days to make sure that hcg is definitely out of your system?

Mommybear05 · 21/04/2020 08:59

@SmileyT @VP91x aw thanks girls. Socially distanced hugs love that. Yes I completely know what you mean VP. I am not usually like that at all and am happy for people I’m normally so grateful for everything I have in my life and I never get jealous at all but it really stings. Like you say I think it will keep stinging until we can also look forward to our rainbows. When I go for my walk each day I keep looking at all the rainbows in everyone’s windows and it’s just so strange with what’s happening right now and we are all thinking of thar light at the end of the tunnel. I’m
Sure we will all get there!
On a positive note my son has not even asked for a feed this morning and I’m feeling good about the weaning so far today. I think I’ll actually go through with it this time :) xx

Lynz2020 · 21/04/2020 08:22

Has anyone had this happen? I miscarried on Wednesday just gone and bled until Sunday, took a clear blue pregnancy test on Monday which came back negative and an ovulation strip which had 2 dark lines. Took a cheap pregnancy test this morning and came back positive and my ovulation strip only has 1 faint and 1 dark line. In waiting until the pregnancy test comes back negative to try again as I'll know all hormones have gone but it's confusing when 2 tests say different in 2 days. I'll test again tomorrow also

VP91x · 20/04/2020 22:11

@Mommybear05 Sorry that you're feeling so crappy today but this is so normal. My best friend was telling me today that she ordered a My first Harrods bear for the baby of a close friend of hers who is due in August and I felt so sad because if I was still pregnant she would be buying little bits for my little one. It makes you feel silly that you can't just be 100% happy for someone else when you know what a wonderful thing it is. However, that loss will never leave us I don't think. I had to accept that I will feel sad until I know I have conceived again and that I know they are safe and healthy. Sending you lots of hugs xxx

SmileyT · 20/04/2020 21:45

@Blackframe0175 sorry you find yourself here and hoping that you get that BFP on Thursday. I had a SMM on the 24th March so completely understand that desire to get pg again as soon as possible unfortunately AF got me yesterday but all geared up ready to go again this month x

@Mommybear05 I'm here anytime you want to rant... and sounds like you have loads of support at home aswell which is lovely. Sending you loads of socially distanced virtual hugs right now xxx

@blackframe0175 af got me this month so I’m
Back on cd 7 now. I had a 31 day cycle post mc. We tried straight Away but no luck last time x

Blackframe0175 · 20/04/2020 21:14

@Mommybear05 I’m planning on testing when AF is due Thursday my average cycle length! Are you planning on testing? X

Mommybear05 · 20/04/2020 21:06

@blackframe0175 hello and sorry you find yourself here! Yes it’s tough isn’t it? It’s strange with that first cycle cos u don’t really know when af is due. Are you planning on testing? Baby dust to you too x

Blackframe0175 · 20/04/2020 21:00

Hi ladies 👋 I hope it’s okay to jump on this tread. I recently had a missed miscarriage 3/4 weeks ago the worse experience of my life 😭. We decided to try again right away! That emptiness and knowing it’s just you again it’s horrible, I took a test 2 weeks ago and it was neg so I know I’m back to normal. I’m having the most strongest symptoms ever (I did stop having symptoms with my mmc) I just don’t wanna get my hopes up! Baby dust to all xoxo

Mommybear05 · 20/04/2020 20:40

@SmileyT aw thanks smiley. Also that’s so tough what you did for your friend. It just makes me feel crap that someone is happy and I feel it makes me feel the opposite because I’ve never been a jealous person. But it’s more than just jealousy it feels quite hurtful so hard to explain.
I spoke to hubby and he said he was crying because he was having his nappy changed (he always does) and then he settled quickly so that made me feel better. We talked it through. I had a little cry and got it out of my system but We said that it’s the right decision as like you say it will be happy in the long term. He apparently settled really quickly after having his nappy which he never likes anyway. I just really want to give us the best chance to conceive now. I’m like hungry for it you know.
But yes I’ve had my cry and it’s out my system and I’ll be ready to ttc this cycle. Thank you for listening to my grumble again 🙈 xxx

SmileyT · 20/04/2020 20:25

Ahh @Mommybear05 I'm sorry to read you are feeling low. I recently arranged a box of new born essentials for one of my best friends who is expecting in a couple months, full of baby grows, nipple cream, pram liner etc and when we actually dropped it outside her house i had this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach of jealousy/ sadness I dunno. I think it's completely normal it's all so new and fresh just be kind to yourself. And I know BF is such a personal thing but just remember your son will be fine he is at home and loved and being in put to bed by his daddy. It must be horrible to listen to but a happy mummy will lead to a happy toddler in the medium term. Feel free to rant whenever you need to, and if you haven't heard it today 'you're doing bloody fab' xx
