I am a namechanger as am completely barking mad for even considering having 4 children - have three boys - would like a girl (but happy either way tbh) - any tried and tested tips for conceiving a girl?

Gosh, I learned from this zombie thread that a lot of people believed a lot of batshit things in 2007!

Zombie thread... reported!

These 3 Simple Steps Have A 94.8% Success Rate.

  1. Timing and Body Chemistry. Getting pregnant at different times in your cycle plays a large role in gender selection. And so does the Ph balance of your body chemistry.
  1. Slightly modify your diet to favor your preferred gender. Surprisingly enough, one gender benefits from snack food more than the other!
  1. Various sex positions and habits can favor one gender over another. You'll be amazed at what simultaneous orgasms can do for gender selection.

hi does anybody know when to make diet changes in order tc girl?how long before ttc x

alexeliza · 04/09/2011 17:20

Thanks for letting me know re those two books - I'll check them out as well.
Good luck with everything as well - I'll keep an eye out as to how you get on!!

happyforthemostpart · 04/09/2011 13:13

WOW! you are a lot more 'dedicated' than me!! (I looked at the diet method but far too much faff for me to change everything! - maybe i don't want a girl that much!!??!)

I don't know if you have read these books but they are quite interesting:
www.amazon.co.uk/How-Choose-Sex-Your-Baby/dp/0767926102/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315138006&sr=8-1

www.amazon.co.uk/Choose-Sex-Your-Baby-Natural/dp/074753313X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315138026&sr=8-1

I bought them both and found I learnt a lot from them - at least so I really understand what is going on.

These seem to stress that timing is the number one factor (and sperm count too....) so I think i'm going to go with that! Having said that as we have one and don't want a massive age gap i'll probably play it quite close to Ov (thinking of starting at 2 or 3 days prior to ov) so may well make another little boy. Though knowing how much a love the little boy I already have that would be a delight too!!

Keep me posted on how you get on!

alexeliza · 03/09/2011 11:27

Sorry HappyFTMP - you asked if I had kids yet as well.... you might have already picked it up from the post above, but this will be our first. We're hoping for two, so I'm figuring I'll have two attempts! :)

alexeliza · 03/09/2011 11:25

Hi HappyFTMP!
We are due to start ttc very soon, but I've reading and researching everything I can beforehand. From what I've gathered there are three things you can focus on - diet, ovulation and position.
Diet is the one thing I've really tried to change, increasing my levels of calcium and magnesium (supposedly that creates a better environment for making DD). I've also being taking vitamin supplements as well.
I have bought a saliva magnifier (I'm not sure if that's what it's actually called) which is aparently better for trying for a DD - you can supposedly detect the changes in saliva 4-5 days before ov so you know to have sex and then hold off and cross fingers! :)
Apparently the ov sticks are better for ttc a DS as they indicate 1-2 days before ov, better suited for Y sperm as they are supposed to be quick but not last as long.
Then position is supposed to be shallow for DD (missionary, spoons) and as the others have said above, no enjoyment (but I think it's worth it if I manage to succeed in conceiving a DD!!)
DH is happy to try - if we succeed in having DD he'll get such huge brownie points with his mother!! But that said, either is fine, just hope they're healthy and grow up happy. It will just be fun to try and see if it works.
Good luck with everything and I hope to hear how you get on (and whether it all does really work)!!

happyforthemostpart · 03/09/2011 08:46

alexeliza - interested to hear from you!

we are doing the same. kind of.....

i really just want a healthy baby of either sex (much like you) but would love a daughter...

have you managed to pinpoint ov? How far in advance will you stop? Is it ok to ask such personal questions?! sorry if not!

Do you already have kids?

Nice to find someone with the same feelings :)

alexeliza · 02/09/2011 21:55

Thanks for sharing all of your tips - I too would love to have a little girl (although I would be grateful for a healthy child of either sex). I have been reading up on the internet and have managed to talk my DH into trying specifically for DD (although he doesn't believe in any of it!). Crossing my fingers!!

harrisonmum · 01/09/2011 18:06

hello!

are any of you ladies who were posting in 07 and 08 about conceiving a particular sex still around?

Did it work?

I'm so interested!! Would really love a girl after my gorgeous boy but all the tips to get a girl seem to make getting pregnant at all difficult and i don't want to miss out on conceiving completely :)

4childrenonboard · 06/06/2011 01:06

i had a girl first followed by 3 boys, i only planned the first but only had sex the once unprotected the day after i finished my period (28 day cycle) which was day 6 from the start of my period. although i used to drink alot of pure orange and had vinegar on most foods. i think its the acidity of the womans body that helps as male sperm cant survive in acid! it worked for me xxx

everythingpink · 22/08/2008 09:53

I always thought I would, and wanted to have 3 girls, so was (a little) disappointed to have 2 boys. obviously they are gorgeous and i love them to bits, but my DH doesn't want more than 1 more child, and i am getting more and more desperate for a DD!!!

the theory of no sex nearer than 3 days before ovulation seems to make sense, but any other tips which are not too complicated and scientific would be much appreciated!!

sweetkitty · 15/09/2007 08:39

I have a DD conceived on CD11 and one conceived on CD18 so the first one could ring true but not the second one, I have a 28 day cycle and know I ov around CD14.

I also read that the BMJ did a study on timing of sex for a certain gender and it concluded that it makes no difference. I also believe that some men don't have a 50:50 mix of girl:boy sperm that some may be more like 75:25 in favour of one and that it is genetic i.e. would explain families of girls and boys.

DP and I have had the discussion and we both agreed we wouldn't try and tip the balance towards a boy, don't want to miss the opportunity of getting pregnant just because we are trying to time it and if you did all the timings and still got the "wrong" sex how disappointed would you be?

chipmonkey · 14/09/2007 23:12

Shettles method and Hazel Chesterman Philips did not work for me. And I was very scientific about it.

kindersurprise · 14/09/2007 22:37

lol, I must have a miracle DD then, as our DD was concieved on day 18, with no warming of DH's bits, no special diet ... and lots of fun for both of us!

Sending you more pink glittery dust

Surfermum · 14/09/2007 22:09

Are you really Victoria Beckham, mad44? It's just that I read David was wearing baggy pants and having a special diet in OK today as they want a girl.

foxybrown · 14/09/2007 22:07

I definately agree with Ecmo - I'm quite sure we conceived ours this way. We weren't trying to, it just happened that way.

BTW I've just had number 4 - its lovely!

pinkbubble · 14/09/2007 22:04

If and I am only saying if (so please dont shoot me down in flames!!!) I have 3 DDs, and I eat a lot of fruit and yoghurts. A friend of mine who has 3 DSs doesnt, she tended to go for more of the starchy kind of food.

I have to be honest, I didnt eat these foods inparticular, they are my norm.(But I have to say I am very pleased in having 3DDs, also my friend didnt make herself eat anything different either.)

So, honestly dont know if this helps or not!
