Might be handy but here's the acronyms list to help with working out what some shorted words mean on here www.mumsnet.com/info/acronyms I have it saved on my homescreen as I still get confused now haha Smile Not all of them are on there though! x

MrsEmilyB · 20/04/2020 21:37

@babyG123 - it's the 2 week wait between ovulation and aunt Flo being predicted to arrive or finding out you're pregnant 😊

@Noble89 - ah I see! Can you have sex more often if you want?? Or is it every other day for a reason? I read on the blog of a fertility homeopath that every day is better if you can!

KRK05 · 20/04/2020 21:37

@babyG123 Two week wait I think? But I'm a newbie hahaha

KRK05 · 20/04/2020 21:35

@Noble89 That's the one I looked at, looked the most simplest especially for me who has never tracked ovulation so I have no clue when I ovulate atall 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm on CD11 so far, my AF due May 7th. What about u? According to my apps im due to ovulate Wednesday/Thursday but this is my fertile week xx

babyG123 · 20/04/2020 21:32

What's TWW? I'm so bad at these haha Xz

Noble89 · 20/04/2020 21:26

@KRK05 hopefully you'll get lucky first time but if not definitely give SMEP a try. I used clear blue digital ovulation kits last time so will do the same again. They're the easiest to read but expensive so I figured I'll use them for 3 cycles to get an accurate track of my cycles and ovulation and if I'm not pregnant by cycle 3 I'll go onto internet opks which are less pricey. Good luck for this cycle! What day are you on? Xx

KRK05 · 20/04/2020 21:17

@Noble89 That's a good thing to try I hadnt heard of it. I'm not tracking ovulation using tests just apps, which I know isnt 100% but it's our first month TTC so were just DTD every 2nd day but if dont get a BFP this month then I am gonna track my ovulation & give SMEP a try ☺

Noble89 · 20/04/2020 20:55

Hi @MrsEmilyB, great to have another TWW buddy.

My partner and I started trying in June last year. We were tracking ovulation but no luck with conceiving in June or July. I saw about SMEP on a forum somewhere and decided to give it a try in August and boom, BFP.

So SMEP is basically timing intercourse to give you the best chance to conceive. You have sex every other day starting on the 8th day of your cycle counting the first day of your period as day 1. You should track ovulation and when you get a positive OPK you have sex 3 days on a row. You then miss a day then have sex once more. The timing is all based on how long sperm lives.

babyG123 · 20/04/2020 20:41

@dizzypixie I'm in fertile week now 😬

babyG123 · 20/04/2020 20:40

Symptom wise don't look too much into it... with DS1 I didn't find out until I was 7 weeks and had 0 symptoms throughout. Hoping the next o we the same as I hate being sick 🙈

MrsEmilyB · 20/04/2020 20:31

@Noble89 - I'm so sorry. That sounds so tough. I'm due to ovulate around the 6th (currently on CD 2 like SmileyT) so will also be your 2WW friend! I'm also 30 hoping for #1.

@SmileyT - what's the sperm meets egg plan???

@dizzypixie - hi lovely! Welcome 😊

KRK05 · 20/04/2020 20:29

Can I ask what is SMEP? I've seen quite a few people mentioning it but I have no clue what it is?

SmileyT · 20/04/2020 20:16

@Noble89 yes DP was reading about SMEP so we're going for it, starting the sexy time with purpose on the 26th 😬 I got a bit confused about the 3 times after peak but I'm going to follow it to the letter.

I'm honestly so sorry for what you've been through really hoping you get your BFP this month 🤞

SmileyT · 20/04/2020 20:04

@MrsEmilyB we just went for some pre-conception vitamins for him and some coq10, we'll see how we get on this month and then spend some more money we aren't spending on anything else next month if it doesn't help. Will definitely check out that YouTube... thanks x

Noble89 · 20/04/2020 19:48

@SmileyT thank you. Yeah it was really awful I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. A miscarriage is hard enough and I was comforting myself by saying it's ok we can try again straight away and then that got taken away and I went from googling baby names and products to the side effects of chemotherapy...not a good time at all!

That's awesome were right on the same timeline. So yes let's definitely keep each other company. Have you done the sperm meets egg plan? That's how I got PG last time literally the first month doing it so will be following that again xxx

SmileyT · 20/04/2020 19:37

@Missgoldilocks Ahh I've got 8 and 7yo nephews (my brothers OH really didn't fancy going back to work in between 😂) and they are what I'm missing most in lockdown, they literally have my heart. I accidentally got pregnant in Jan this year but sadly had a MMC so this is my first full cycle after that, getting pregnant really had me planning out the next 10yrs so I'm so desperate now. I know it hasn't been long at all TTC but already over the whole waiting process 🙈. Have you got any tips that you've learnt through your journey that you want to pass on to an impatient newbie like me? How are you feeling today? Keeping busy during this TWW?

@Noble89 ahh that sounds like a hard few months with the molar pg, I MC in March and was so desperate to try again straight away. I'm 31 trying for #1 and CD2 of first full cycle expecting ovulation around the 3rd and to be testing around the 20th, we can keep each other company in the TWW.

@dizzypixie I totally get this with symptom spotting I never thought I'd be one of these neurotic women but turns out I am 💁🏾‍♀️ before AF started yesterday I had a really strong opk and massive spike in RHR on Fitbit and for about 12hrs convinced myself I was definitely pg, but alas woke up to be proven wrong.

Good luck for this month everybody xx

LJ25 · 20/04/2020 18:56

Thank you @SarahTTCx 😃 good luck to you too! Hopefully we will all get our BFP soon xx

dizzypixie · 20/04/2020 18:21

Ah thanks guys, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one fooled by AF!
Gearing up for fertile week now, exciting times! Who else is with me? Grin

1izzie · 20/04/2020 16:57

I completely agree @dizzypixie I had that last month, every symptom could have been pregnancy or af! So annoying!

Panda789 · 20/04/2020 16:28

@dizzypixie I also watched a few other chats so it's nice to be able to join in on this one! Smile
It's so hard not to symptom watch and google etc. It really is surreal when you can finally say you are now TTC!! I'm excited to see some BFP in this chat as time goes on!! Fingers crossed for everyone Smile

dizzypixie · 20/04/2020 16:10

Hi everyone, this is my first time ever joining a forum, but I’ve been following the April and May bus chats like a creepy stalker (I promise I’m not!) and it seems so nice to have other great women to share this experience with.

I’m 34 and this is sort of our first month TTC for baby number 1 (it feels a bit surreal writing that!) - we were not not trying last month, and I had loads of pregnancy symptoms (plus AF was super late) which meant I had a bit of a TWW experience without meaning to. It totally sucks that pms and pregnancy symptoms are so similar -feels like a cruel joke! AF is due 10th May, so fingers crossed she decides not to come...

Anyway, hello to everyone!

KRK05 · 20/04/2020 15:43

@Noble89 Really sorry to hear your loss. Hope this is the month for u 🙏🏼 & all us ladies ☺

Panda789 · 20/04/2020 15:29

@Noble89 I'm really sorry to hear of your loss. I'm also 30 and trying for baby number one. Sending you lots of baby dust xxx

Noble89 · 20/04/2020 14:52

Hi Ladies,

I hope you don't mind me joining. I'm 30 and TTC (trying to conceive) baby number one. I started trying in June last year and got a BFP (big fat positive) in August so was lucky to conceive quite quickly. Unfortunately my 12 week scan showed the baby had died at week 7. I was later diagnosed as having had a partial molar pregnancy which is super rare and unfortunately can become cancerous so you have to go through a period of monitoring by specialists and during that time you can't try again. I've finally been told I'm free to try again but I'd missed my fertile window last month by the time they gave me the green light. I came on my period yesterday so this is cycle one for me. Ovulation is predicted to be the 8th of may and AF the 22nd if I don't get lucky.

Wishing you all luck xxx

kirinm · 20/04/2020 14:15

Oh I've just read that a short follicular phase isn't a good thing. I think I'll have to try and start temping.
