@KateColx I feel the same way! We definitely haven't done as much DTD as some people and probably not enough tbh but I don't want to force it I think it takes the enjoyment away and I don't want to put any additional pressure on my OH. If it takes longer for us because of it then so be it. I have been taking folic acid and a DHA supplement for a few months now just to prepare but we weren't trying before that so I have no idea if it will have helped or not!

Yes this will be our first, is it your first too?

SmileyT · 23/04/2020 11:13

Okay I'm not going to tag everybody but I've just looked up from work to check this chat (I'm apparently a key worker even though I'm pretty sure mortgage advisors don't save lives 🙄) and it's made me so happy.

So much bloody positivity...

We have had serious conversations about names before we were ttc but kinda stopped so I'm going to start them up again because they always made me so happy and excited. I'm not married and I keep telling DP that he can decide the surname (which will obvs be his) and I'll pick the first name 💁🏾‍♀️

I am definitely going to find out the sex, I'm desperate for a little boy but obviously will be equally happy with a healthy baby girl 😊 - I've just always liked the idea of an oldest boy with two little sisters (definitely getting ahead of myself).

I feel like we have a load of ladies starting their TWW and a load just starting this cycle so it's a nice mix to keep us all entertained xxx

KateColx · 23/04/2020 11:07

@Ltay2 aw hi! We can keep eachother sane through the TWW haha. Are you trying for your 1st?

I've been reading a few different threads and I've made myself a bit nervous that we maybe haven't quite pulled out all the stops in terms of trying this month haha. This month we just upped DTD around ovulation but we haven't added any supplements etc or anything in. Makes me nervous that we should be doing more 🙈

Ltay2 · 23/04/2020 10:56

@Panda789 I am loving this chat, I don't have a lot of girl friends to talk to and none that are going through TTC so it's nice to have this group! It's made me so excited about things to come and although I know I will inevitably be disappointed when I don't fall pregnant each month that passes it's nice to know we all have each other!

@KateColx Ah welcome! You sound like you are much like me. We didn't really track too much the first cycle, now on Cycle 2 and my ovulation day is supposed to be today! AF due on 7th May so pretty much the same!

KateColx · 23/04/2020 10:43

Hi everyone 🌸

Would it be okay to join the group please?

I've had a read through all of the messages and there are some lovely messages on here! Feels like a very positive group ☺️

I'm currently TTC baby 1, and this is our second cycle but really our first cycle of actually keeping an eye on ovulation dates etc. 2DPO and AF due 6th May so just starting the two week wait ☺️

Be nice to have some people to talk to throughout as we haven't told anyone we're trying as I thought it would add pressure x

Panda789 · 23/04/2020 10:32

Loving the positive vibes in this chat and seeing that it's in full swing in just a few days 😊 I obsess thinking of baby names there's a few I like.. think I'll find it hard to narrow it down to one when the time comes! There are so many pretty girl names, I struggle with boy names!! I've had irregular periods due to coil coming out, but should be due on right at the start of May. Got everything crossed she doesn't show! 😬

Ltay2 · 23/04/2020 10:30

@Rotagilla Arlo is so cute! Andi is lovely too I've only ever met one person with that name so definitely unique!

Ltay2 · 23/04/2020 10:25

I'm glad you all like it too! I think we would be pretty set on boys name but no idea for a girl!

I think I would find out the sex. I couldn't cope with not knowing and being able to plan. I think it would make the wait more exciting for us to know and plus takes the stress out of having to think of perfect names for both sexes.

MrsEmilyB · 23/04/2020 10:22

@Rotagilla - I have a friend who's son is Arlo and he's adorable. Andi is mega cute! And so unusual for a little girl.

@Noble89 - we are the opposite! We'd keep it a surprise for the first (flipping love the gender neutral baby clothes!) and find out for our second for money saving purposes haha

Noble89 · 23/04/2020 10:16

@Ltay2 oh that's good there's no pressure! Also, I love Evan. My nephew is called Evan and I've always liked his name.

@MrsEmilyB perfect! No one can have any complaints then 😊

@rotagilla oh Arlo is lovely, it's on our list too. And one of my friends has a little girl called Andie and she's sooooo cute.

In terms of finding out the sex id like a surprise but OH wants to know so we've agreed to find out with the 1st and have a surprise for the 2nd. I do get that it's more practical to find out and I think with our first we'll want to buy according to the gender. I always think you don't care as much with the second and will happily put your baby boy in his big sisters pink bouncer anyway

Rotagilla · 23/04/2020 10:09

I love thinking of names. Pretty set on our two but worried to keep saying them out loud because I'm aware it's a fair way off and I don't want either of us to go off them!
We love Arlo for a boy and Andi for a girl.

My father in law is James and I actually do love Arlo James....but there will be other who are bound to feel left out 🙄

Will just keep them quiet until the announcement.

What do you all feel on finding out the sex?
I did with my son....undecided this time.
I do like to be organised...

MrsEmilyB · 23/04/2020 10:01

@Ltay2 - Evan is lovely! I definitely didn't instantly think "American"! It's so hard not to stress. Pilates has been a god send in chilling me out a bit!

@Noble89 - 1 isn't a tradition, I agree with you! Freshening up my family's "Anne" seems right for us as his grandmother is "Ann" and his mother is "Annette" - so we honour all parties this way!

@Blossom93 - what names do you love?!

@Rotagilla - ooh yes, I think I would have put my foot down there too. My DHs other grandma was "Ermaline" and that is very unlikely to feature. Like, EVER. 😂

We'll also be keeping names secret until birth from family and friends (obviously you guys will know!) hehe

Ltay2 · 23/04/2020 09:43

@Noble89 I completely agree, naming is so difficult at the best of times without factoring in anyone's opinion. When we eventually get to the stage of naming I will be keeping it a secret until the birth, except for our parents and siblings and maybe a couple of very close friends. I'm lucky in that my family definitely wouldn't push any traditions on us and I don't think they really see them as traditions anyway - I just personally like the idea of following suit!

Noble89 · 23/04/2020 09:33

@Rotagilla OMG and I thought I had it bad with the whole family campaign for James Richard 😂.

I just think it's unfair to expect people to agree to your family tradition. Like we might have 2 or 3 children. So that's only 2 or 3 opportunities to name a child and it's me and my OH who have to say it every day! If you happen to like the name or you're willing to compromise and put it in as a middle name etc then that's great. But I think it's really unfair when the family put pressure on you to name your child something you don't like!

Ltay2 · 23/04/2020 09:30

I'm so glad my family tradition is only middle name James reading your stories! I actually quite like it and that baby would have the same middle name as his Dad, Grandad and Uncle.

Ltay2 · 23/04/2020 09:28

@Rotagilla I know how you feel, no matter how much you tell yourself you aren't bothered or are trying to be relaxed it still is so disappointing! I think my OH is feeling a lot of pressure by it all and I feel that each negative cycle is only going to make it worse.

Rotagilla · 23/04/2020 09:27

@Noble89 traditions are a nightmare. My ex's family's tradition was that you named the baby after the last family member who died.
Unfortunately Grandma Einigen died prior to our baby being born and I had a real fight to prevent that name being used!

Blossom93 · 23/04/2020 09:26

@KRK05 thank you! Sending lots of baby dust to you too ☺️ and we can stress out together then on the TWW!
I’ve had a few pains in my lower abdomen over the past couple of days so I’m assuming they’re ovulation pains as I’m due to ovulate around now but I’ve never really notice them before! Trying my best to keep track of my CM too but don’t think I’ve reached the EWCM stage.. maybe today will be the day! How about you - are you now in the TWW?

@SmileyT @MrsEmilyB haha safe to say I’ve deffo gone a bit manic with it all 😹 very glad I’ve found you guys then!

Baby names! We have a million we love for a girl but it seems impossible to agree on one we like for a boy..

Rotagilla · 23/04/2020 09:23

@Ltay2 I was trying not to get my hopes up but had forgotten how disappointing it is.
My partner is really quite upset which shocked me as I thought we were trying to being relaxed about it.
Doesn't help that the cramps are unbearable today and all I want to do is curl up.
But I'm grateful to be on this bus to read everyone's stories and celebrate the successes!

Noble89 · 23/04/2020 09:21

@MrsEmilyB Ahh thank you. We do love it and are totally set on that. I love the idea of freshening it up! Both of our Mum's middle names are Elizabeth but that doesn't go with the more modern names we like so we've agreed if we have a second girl we'd go with Beth for a middle name as a nod to our Mum's. It'll have to be our second though as Blake Beth doesn't go 😂.

Ohhhh don't get me started on traditions. My OH tried to tell me we had to name our first born son James Richard as my OH is Richard James. He tried to tell me this is a family tradition because his older brother has his dad's name in reverse. I pointed out that's a one off not a tradition and I'm not naming my child James Richard 😂. I actually don't dislike James, but it's just soooooo common now and I want something unusual. I really love Nixon for a boy but Nixon Noble is cruel 😂

Ltay2 · 23/04/2020 09:19

@Rotagilla I am going through a vicious cycle of stressing about every tiny detail, to remembering stress isn't good for me or for ttc, relaxing and going with the flow, and then back to stressing!

I've not done any window shopping at all I feel it's way too early for me. But will be looking forward to all that when the time comes!

Rotagilla · 23/04/2020 09:15

I love all your positivity!
I'm struggling to to baby window shopping as I feel it gets my hopes up...
Maybe il do some baby lists and try and get into the more positive frame of mind.
We have names ready and waiting!
Can't wait for a BFP and can start getting properly excited!

Ltay2 · 23/04/2020 09:12

@MrsEmilyB The name is 'Evan' I thought it sounded too American at first but I quite like it now. The boys in my family, and my OH have a middle name of James so I think Evan James sounds nice.

No doubt I will be a panicking wreck in both weeks looking out for non-existent symptoms haha!

MrsEmilyB · 23/04/2020 09:09

@Ltay2 - ooh, what is it? I am intruiged. I'm glad it's grown on you. You both need to love it.

Haha. I was chilled for week 1 of my first 2ww. I was a mess in week 2! I hope you remain more zen than me.

MrsEmilyB · 23/04/2020 09:08

@Noble89 - I think we do!! Blake Harper is so stylish. She sounds like one of those effortlessly cool girls everyone loves. We aren't sure for middle names - the first girl in our family always has the middle name of Anne going back about 5 generations - however I HATE it. So, I'm planning to update it rather than go off piste entirely. I'm thinking Anneliese as a middle. BUT, we need a buffer middle name in between India and Anneliese as it doesn't flow well.

DH is definitely more traditional with names than me! There's a middle name tradition with the boys too - first born son has dad's name as the middle. So "Matthew" in this case. Plus I'm determined to get my Dad's name in there so it'd be something Matthew John. So I really don't want something mega common. I do like the old fashioned little boys names. Jasper is lovely, but wouldn't work with our surname.
