DS or DD after MC ~ unscientific study

katendmom · 13/09/2007 21:02

Alright, ladies, I'm conducting an unscientific study. I just had a mmc... was talking to my best friend who was helping me to get through it emotionally... To make me feel better she said: "You know I had mmc, and now I have my beautiful DD." Then she gave me a couple more examples of other friends with the same experience... All of a sudden we realized - all of our friends who had mc - had DD with their next pg.

Now, of course I understand that both DD and DS are born after mc. But we decided to see what is the % of DD to DS .

So, if you don't mind - if you had a mc and were fortunate to have a baby after that - who did you have?

Thank you

Thank you all for contributing your experiences. A follow up question ~ those who conceived the first month after mc (and didn't get AF at all) ~ when did you test to get BFP?

Thank you!

I had a mc early on. I then got pregnant again some 15 months later and we had a little girl.

To add to your sample: Ds1, Ds2, mc then dd

ToadieG1, congratulations on our DC and you're so strong. How did you cope with 5 mcs...

Jossiejump I will certainly share what I learn from a gen. counselor. My not be a lot yet on Mon since we still need to take a blood test (my DH and I) but I will certainly explore this DD vs DS after MC theory with her.

ILTS hey there~ {Kate waves to her virtual twin}

I lost my first baby then went on to have my beautiful daughter. I know three people (including mum, in between having me and my sister) who have had girls after miscarriage. A friend is currently expecting a boy after losing her first. My sister has sadly lost two babies but is pregnant again and due in January - wonder if it'll be a boy or a girl?! I did read somewhere that male sperm are not as resilient as female but not sure how accurate that is.

ToadieG1 · 05/10/2007 09:45

Sorry 4 mc's between dd and ds1, 5 in total.

ToadieG1 · 05/10/2007 09:44

I had dd then 5 mc's, had ds1 then another mc, recently had ds2.

iliketosleep · 05/10/2007 09:40

i have dd,dd,ds,mmc wonder what will be next although am convinced mmc was a girl, had 2 dreams it was and just had a feeling, then dp brought me a huge bunch of pink flowers tied with a pink ribbon so i took it as a sign!

I would be interested in what you found out as I had 2 x DS, then 3 m/cs whilst following the advice for conceiving a girl , am now 33 weeks pg

katendmom · 02/10/2007 18:18

As promised at the begining of this post - updating with my own data. Found out that the baby that we lost in Sept (mc and then D&C) was a girl. So for us:

lost DD (stillborn)
have a wonderful DS
lost DD (mc)

I am seeing a genetics counselor on Monday and will explore with him/her the theory of not being able to carry a baby of a particular gender...

I had DD after an MC.
One of my friends had an MC at about the same time, followed by a DD at about the same time as mine as well.

rachaelsara · 14/09/2007 20:53

I had 2 mc's then 4 dd's. My sister had 1 mc then 3 ds's. BF had 3 mc's then dd and ds. Who knows? Until docs get more interested in investigating early mc's we'll never know. I personally think I couldn't carry a boy and my sis couldn't carry a girl. I'd love to know if it's true and why..... I wonder if tiny just conceived babies don't even implant if they're the "wrong" gender for you????

Good luck!

katendmom · 14/09/2007 20:32

Very interesting many theories... many make sense. I just summed up our poll so far and we have 19 DDs and 16 DSs. I only counted DC after MC... I wonder if we can apply for the Nobel prize now? I think we're on to something LOL

boy seven years after mc

NAB3 · 14/09/2007 14:22

Boy.

katendmom · 14/09/2007 14:18

well ladies... it seems that there is no theory since we're all over the board. That's great though - it means that most likely baby's gender/ gender of the born children, etc does not have anything to do with mc... Making mc yet once again just a bad luck in most of the cases... meaning that GOOD LUCK will strike again!

I had DS then an MC then DD ...

SunnyJaamy · 14/09/2007 01:45

ANother one to disporve your theory, though I am fairly convinced that in many cases for whatever reason some women can't carry one or other sex:

My sister had DS, mc then DS
But My friend had DD, mc then DS
And a neighbour also had DD mc then DS

Nightynight · 13/09/2007 22:29

lillymolly, def not true for me, I had dd, ds, ds, mc, mc, dd.
