3dpo and looking for TTC friends

Hi,

I’m 29 and on cycle 2 of TTC. I’m 3dpo and now in my two week wait. I have no friends with children or anyone who is TTC so looking for online buddies to ride this out with!

Anybody in the same boat as me who wants to chat and be a little neurotic together?

Xx

@Lolliloo1234 Agree with other posters on here, we discussed our plans obviously re Covid but we have no idea when this may be over so I'm not really willing to wait another year to conceive. There's no concrete evidence that it's harmful for unborn babies (as far as I'm aware?!)

Lolliloo1234 · 12/04/2020 17:12

@Wineandrun I’m so pleased for your DH that he began to feel better. I completely think that mentally the place you’re in is the biggest contributing factor to conception l. It’s like the higher you stress and fret the less likely it is. I’ve been doing meditation and yoga recently to try and forget about it. I usually have about two days every 2ww where I go bonkers but then it settles and now I’m at peace with what’s going on. I must admit I haven’t stopped drinking, I’ve stopped binge drinking but I do love my G&T! I can be quite airy fairy (much to the hilarity of DP) and I’m comforted by the fact my cycle is synced with the cycle of the moon. I ovulated on the night of the full moon this month so I kind of feel a wider universe ness about the conception thing and when it’s right, it will happen. I do know how bonkers I sound haha feel free to take the mic!

Two of my closest friends are 39 and both have had (first) babies this year after trying for under a year. I hope one day I’ll have three children - although I don’t know DP would cope haha!

Our first took 8 months but my husband was in a bit of a bad place mental health wise, as soon as he got some help and was on the road to recovery we conceived, it really was a case of the horrible saying ‘stop trying and it will happen’, that worked for us! I went from being completely rigid, not drinking, taking vitamins, monitoring every symptom to going to complete self destruct, binge drinking, eating unhealthy, the works, and bam, she is now 7! With my second he literally looked at me and I was pregnant 😂 so who knows this time. I’m older but otherwise completely healthy, normal BMI etc, so we shall see!

I agree with you all saying you want to continue TTC with everything going on, research says it’s most dangerous during the third trimester, by which time for us hopefully this will all be over!

Lolliloo1234 · 12/04/2020 15:58

@AnxiousBear it feels the same to me, I don’t think I could stop now even if I tried tbh. I was such a party girl and really enjoyed going out and socialising, children of my own were definitely not something I wanted to do. Since Feb when we start trying a switch has definitely flipped physically and mentally, it’s right what people say, once you want one your REALLY want one.

@Wineandrun of course you can join! If you don’t mind me asking how long did it take you to conceive your two? I will be keeping everything crossed for you!

Wineandrun · 12/04/2020 15:29

Hi, please can I join you?! I’m a bit older, 37, and TTC number 3. My other kids are 4 and 7, it took a while for us to decide whether to have another! This is our first month of TTC and TBH were not so much trying as not not trying if you get me! I’m not tracking my ovulation or anything, just seeing how it goes, I got obsessive with DC1 and it was so stressful and horrible. I am planning to test on the 21st but knowing me, it will be earlier and therefore pointless!!

AnxiousBear · 12/04/2020 15:03

@rosie990 welcome! I’m sorry, it must be so hard it not happening sooner. Fingers crossed and baby dust for you.

@Lolliloo1234 and @mrsmummy111 - huge respect and thanks to you both for all the Covid work you are doing. It must be so hard.

We have talked about Covid and kids a lot. I feel anxious about it all, but also we have been debating trying for such a long time and I don’t feel like we can stop trying now we have started. It really does feel like a drive to me? Like a switch flipped.
We are both working from home, so feeling quite isolated from the world, taking all the precautions.
Glad I’m not the only one not enjoying the DTD pressure!

rosie990 · 12/04/2020 12:45

@lolliloo1234 I am well thank you although I feel like I am symptom spotting everything.

Journey one was a surprise and blessing so I am really struggling with actually trying and it not working. :-(

Lolliloo1234 · 12/04/2020 12:25

@HopeWish I’m not sure when to test - I was thinking maybe waiting until Saturday next week because that’ll be two days before AF is due. I’ve been pregnant before (many many years ago - isn’t a fun story) and I 100% knew by the day before AF was due that I was pregnant. I’m kind of hoping that by Saturday I’ll know whether I am or not so if I see a BFN I won’t be too disappointed as I would’ve already accepted it. It’s going to be hard not to do one before. Do let me know how it goes for you, I’ll keep everything crossed for you!

I know what you mean in terms of wellbeing. I actually am on top of my laundry which never usually is the case and my garden is sorted for once!

@rosie990 Hi, of course you can join! How’re you? What was your journey to baby #1 like?

OP posts:
rosie990 · 12/04/2020 11:45

Hi ladies can I join.

I am 29 and on cycle 7 of ttc for baby number 2.

I should be 3dpo according to my clue app but I ovulated a few days earlier based on cramps and cm.

I don't use any ovulation tests due to coming over obsessed 😂

HopeWish · 12/04/2020 11:34

@lolliloo1234

I feel ya! I've been into school a couple of times to run activities for children of key workers, going in again on Friday.

I've told myself not to test until 12dpo, which will be Saturday, but feel like I might get a sneaky IC in on 10dpo (thursday), if only to satisfy my POAS needs! When are you testing?

I started a healthy eating drive 2 weeks ago in the hope that I won't come out of lockdown weighing 1 stone more and regretting it! Lockdown has really given me the motivation I need to do things like gardening, cleaning the house and improving my lifestyle. People keep telling everybody to look after their mental health in lockdown... but lockdown has been the best thing for my mental health in a long time!

Lolliloo1234 · 12/04/2020 11:28

@mrsmummy111 My DP is exactly the same, we’ve had lots of tears on my part and some serious conversations. I’ve managed to crack it now by during my fertile week I kind of focus on him (lucky *) and I’ll do something like give him a foot spa experience or give him a facial (HAHA innuendo!) and it seems to relax him enough that he performs. Although my DP probably isn’t as clued up as yours and just enjoys the attention for a week and doesn’t really get why 😂😂

Tbh DP sees first hand how awful it is, he has come home in tears many nights this past month. I only see it through the eyes of the children I care for who are children of his colleagues at work. What the worst thing is the impact what their parents are going through on them, NHS workers whole lives are being impacted. BUT beautiful thing for me is I've had lots of Impromptu sleepovers and play dates with some awesome kids who are fab!! I adore children 💕 I just have to spend some extra time talking them through what is going on. The media portrays the situation in a very particular way but there are many beautiful things to come out of this.

Lolliloo1234 · 12/04/2020 11:19

@HopeWish

I agree with everything you just said. I think we are very similar people (I’m a teacher too but currently providing free NHS childcare in my home over Easter hols - plus my school is providing wrap around NHS childcare when not on hols) My DP is so affected by his job (in NHS) and the stresses it brings, it can sometimes take control of both our lives so I can totally relate to you. He has accepted that it can’t be forever now, it’s just too stressful for him.

I’m 5dpo and also getting mild cramps and twinges. I’m just trying to put it down to overeating during the lockdown but I’m also mildly obsessed. When are you planning on taking a test?

OP posts:
mrsmummy111 · 12/04/2020 11:13

@Lolliloo1234 I could've written this post myself! The reason we didn't DTD on day 14 was because DH had already had a bad day at work and I was hinting that we need to....you know, and he just got annoyed and said he feels like it's too much pressure. Day 15 was a similar story and although we ended up doing it, let's just say it wasn't his best performance!
I agree though and also that I said I won't tell him when I'm ovulating next month, but he'll know anyway as we don't regularly have sex 4 times a week! 🤣

What a wonderful outlook you have, it's so refreshing. It's horrendous and I can't imagine what it would be like seeing it first hand, but at the same time it's amazing to see someone focus on the positive and take something good out of all the bad! ❤️

HopeWish · 12/04/2020 11:11

@lolliloo1234
I agree about lockdown bring us closer together. DH and I are both teachers...at the same school! But we barely see each other in the work day and when we get home all we talk about is work. DH is always stressed during term time (I've asked a number of times if teaching is -really- the career for him) which makes it frustrating when I want to have any intimacy! Since lockdown, he has calmed down more and we are now close again.

Re: COVID
I've done a lot of reading up and careful thinking about whether to stop TTC. It is scary when nearly 1000 people a day are dying of this virus in the UK.
DH and I are both in secure jobs, are young and healthy with no underlying health conditions, and research suggests that we are not at any serious risk of the virus. Whilst I understand why some couples have stopped, most medical bodies/organisations have stated that the risk of getting it would be the same for the woman whether pregnant or not, that it can't be passed on to the foetus, and that babies are very very low risk of getting it.

There are rumours and predictions floating around about it ending in summer, in autumn, coming back in winter, not having a vaccination until next year, but the truth is...nobody really knows.

I'm not the kind of person who plans out "the perfect pregnancy" (I'm a bit more do-it-yourself-and-just-get-on-with-things kind of person) so I'm not too worried about restrictions like hubby not being able to go to the scan etc.
Everybody is different though and I entirely respect the opinions of those who don't want to continue for whatever their reason is.

On a symptom spotting note... 6DPO and getting some period pain-like dull cramping in my lower abdo today. Maybe implantation? Maybe mild obsession...

Lolliloo1234 · 12/04/2020 10:01

@AnxiousBear @mrsmummy111 I totally get how you feel on the having to DTD. I won’t lie it has caused a little bit of friction between me and DP at times. I’ve stopped telling him when I’m ovulating because I found that when he feels under pressure it all goes a little bit awry anyway if you know what I mean. Which is great for his performance (he’d die of embarrassment if he knew I was talking about this haha) but has left me feeling quite alone because I have to keep some of this stuff to myself.

In terms of work this COVID stuff has been a real life nightmare, I can’t even begin to explain it but on a personal level, this shared experience has meant that DP/colleagues/family and I have never been closer and more connected. It’s been awful but really beautiful at the same time.

Did it impact your decision to start trying? I’ve seen on here some people have stopped until it’s over.

OP posts:
AnxiousBear · 12/04/2020 09:05

@Lolliloo1234 I also had scans and blood tests done prior to TTC and my bedside table looks like a pregnancy pharmacy. So you’re definitely not alone!

I hate that feeling of having to DTD regardless of how I feel too. It sounds like you still DTD at the right times, you’ve got to have a balance what with being a key worker and this Covid nightmare.

mrsmummy111 · 12/04/2020 08:45

@Lolliloo1234 Yeah that does make sense, but the idea of OPKs just makes me really stressed as I can imagine myself spending every day testing and they're notoriously unreliable so even though my cycle is very regular, it would just mess with my head if they said I wasn't ovulating but the app said I was?! It's all just very daunting, why can't it be as easy as "have sex, get pregnant 🤣🤣)

I just hate feeling like I have to DTD even when I'm shattered / not in the mood, but then equally don't want to miss out on my chance and then regret it. Must be so much worse for you and I applaud you with everything going on at the moment. Worst thing we can do is get stressed over it though - positive vibes only!

Geepipe · 11/04/2020 23:17

Hello everyone hope you are all well :) AF is due anytime in the next ten days. Then i usually ovulate a week after ( I track CM and use the Clue app) as my cycles vary by ten days. Then i am hoping to ttc :)

Lolliloo1234 · 11/04/2020 22:45

@mrsmummy111 no I don’t mind at all! So I used to track my temp but when I went to see my fertility acupuncturist she said not to bother because it doesn’t really help so now I just do CB ovulation tests.
I OV on CD17 (I’m normally 16/17) so we DTD on day 16 & 17 which may not be great because they advise doing it every other day instead of every day as it limits sperm count. DP gets super tired from work (we’re both key workers so you can imagine what life is like at the moment!) so the advised DTD every other day for a week during high fertility isn’t quite an option for us!

I know whatever will be will be but I can’t help but worry! Xx

mrsmummy111 · 11/04/2020 22:35

Fingers crossed the ride isn't too bumpy for either of us @Lolliloo1234 !! I always thought once I had a baby I'd be less neurotic and obsessive about TTC, but if anything it's even worse as now I'm desperate to get pregnant again as you always imagine what age gap you'd like your kids to have, and every month you don't conceive makes the gap that little bit bigger!

Well even I'm stumped on that one tbh. We weren't taking it hugely seriously as we were getting married the next month (I was actually 2weeks pregnant on my wedding day!) I ovulated on day 15 when we conceived and we DTD on day 13 and day 15, but obviously managed to catch it. This month we DTD 12,13 and 15 and I was so upset that we missed day 14 but it was just a bad day and DH was stressed from work and I didn't want it to become a chore, but now I'm kicking myself (even though I know it's technically possible by DTD on 13 & 15). The ovulation thing still confuses me though as I feel like I never know exactly when I'm ovulating, and whether it actually happened when I thought it did.

Do you mind me asking how you're tracking it? X

Lolliloo1234 · 11/04/2020 22:18

Hi @mrsmummy111 !! Mines due 20th so we can navigate this together!
Keeping everything crossed for you! If you don’t mind me asking - what was your DTD routine for your DS? I’m still trying to get to grips with it all! Thank you xx

OP posts:
mrsmummy111 · 11/04/2020 22:01

Hey girls!! I'm 32 and 2DPO on cycle 2 of TTC #2! AF due on 23rd according to natural cycles app which we used to conceive our (almost) 1 year old 🥰
We were ridiculously lucky with our DS and conceived on the first month of trying, but I have a feeling it won't be so easy this time. Sending lots of happy positive vibes to you all and hoping for some good luck xxx

Lolliloo1234 · 11/04/2020 21:42

Well @Solomon1212 I am keeping everything and more crossed for you this month.
When is AF due for you? We can hopefully all be here for each other through the awful TWW!

OP posts:
Solomon1212 · 11/04/2020 21:38

@lolliloo1234 yes it does suck so really hoping this month.
Ive been TTC for around 8 months. After the CP i gave myself a little time off but fell again in feb which ended in MC just before 6 weeks.
I have tried the opks but i dont really like them, so ive gone off of CM and premom app which is pretty good so far. Its also got an option to log opks which i done till i got fed up with them

Lolliloo1234 · 11/04/2020 21:00

@beccaoxb omg I totally understand - I’m on cycle two and we were going to just wait and see what happened...well I am not chill and I am not just waiting and seeing. It’s so difficult because the mind is so powerful and I know if I worry it could hinder things.

(Before lockdown) I was going to acupuncture, I take all the vitamins and had all the pre TTC scans and blood tests so I’ve officially reached crazy status. I think I’ve got the entire conception aisle of Boots in my drawer from pre-seed to pregnancy tests.

Hopefully my special brand of crazy will make you feel better about yourself haha!
