Hello lovely people,

A little bit of background; I’m 26 years old and have been with my husband since we were 17 (we met back at school!). We’ll have been married for four years this August. We bought our first home last April and have been renovating for the past year.

We recently found out that my dad (age 56) has stage four brain cancer and likely only has about a year to live. We have always wanted to have children, and I’ve always wanted to be a relatively young mum... Finding out dad’s prognosis made us want to increase the chance that he can meet his first grandchild. It’s going to be a tough time ahead, but our heads and hearts told us it’s time to start trying.

I’ve not been on the pill for a couple of years so we’ve just used barrier contraception, and I’ve been using clear blue sticks fertility for the past four days; no smiley face yet!

At this point I’m just really looking to meet some friendly people going through a similar journey. None of my friends are at this stage of life yet!

Thanks so much,
Kay x

Thank you @EmbarrassingMama that's very kind of you, sending you love too xxx

Good for you. It can be such a stressful time TTC, it's a shame it has a perception of being fun and easy - it can be quite the opposite!

Good luck, hope you get those two precious lines soon.

Thanks @EmbarrassingMama it's a really tricky time, I have made the decision to keep trying and that's my personal choice, I'm in a good job, I have savings and ultimately I want a baby, I've been trying since October and if I feel things get really bad that it effects my choice then I'll reevaluate but for now I'm carrying on xx

Worth bearing in mind that if you do get pregnant now you'll be expected not to leave the house - at all - for the foreseeable future. (e.g. weeks).

Just mentioning because there are few threads on here from people who have been TTC for months and have now put their plans on hold due to Covid-19 and potential impact on their health, embryo health, salary, savings, and future prospects. Might be worth having a look at those so you're fully prepared! Good luck.

Hey!

Can I join?

I'm 24, and have been with my husband since I was 18. We got married 3 years ago and bought our first home last year.

I also have always wanted to be fairly young when I start a family and we decided now was the time.

I am in my first cycle, and will be able to do a test in a couple of weeks so fingers crossed!

Hey ladies,
May I join? I'm 27, I've been with my partner nearly 8 years, we brought a house last year and have now decided to try for a baby, I came off the pill at the beginning of January, I waited just over a month for my withdrawal bleed and then we started trying, I've had 2 cycles which have been completely different, one being 24 days and the second being 32, af showed her ugly face a few days ago so I'm now onto the third month of ttc. I use advanced Clearblue ovulation kits and this month I've started tracking my basal temperature as well to really help me pin point ovulation.
Sorry to hear about your mum and dad, sending love and lots of baby dust x

Hey!

I'll join, I'm 27 and have lived with my boyfriend for over 2 years, we've been together for just over 7 years.

I've been trying since August, I caught in September but miscarried at 5 weeks. Ever since then we've been trying - I track ovulation with just internet cheap tests, I'm 7DPO today, I only have 12 days after I ovulate before my period is due so I'll be due on mid next week, fingers crossed I've caught this month!!

Sorry to hear about both of your parents, sending love xx

Hi Kay 😊
I’m 28, been with my husband since I was 18, been TTC since October when we got married.
My mum has stage 4 breast cancer and I’m desperate to give her a grandchild. So I can really relate to say the least.
I was on the pill for 10 years or so before coming off in September.
Currently on cycle #8 and it’s driving me insane thinking there may be something wrong even though I know statistically it’s still normal.

My best friend started trying around the same time as me and fell pregnant straight away. I’m absolutely over the moon for her but I’m also bitterly jealous seeing her pregnancy progress.
Fingers crossed it happens for us all soon 💕
