Basal temperature

Hey everyone,
I'm now going onto my third month of ttc, I have been using ovulation kits for the last 2 months but thought I would start tracking my basal temperature as well, I'm completely new to it so I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on it? It says you have to do it at the same time every morning before getting out of bed but does it matter if it's an hour different or so? X

@raspberryjamlove heya, my April has been all over the place. I've caught thr virus, have been off sick for 3.5weeks now, so i am glad i am not pregnant now and dont have that extra worry. I am on medication and my ovulation is delayed, as expected...so i think i need to properly recover and then we'll try again next month!
Doing charting has actually really helped me to feel calm about things, understanding a bit better about what is my body doing and telling me. Right now is telling me to relax so that's what i an doing!

Also, don't worry if your temps are erratic now - these are strange times and our bodies just need patience and calm now! Take care

Thank

@raspberryjamlove hey 😊 how are you? Yea still tempting, mine has been a bit all over the place too, I'll attach a picture, ignore the beginning of it tho, I had a temperature as I got a horrible cold so the beginning of my chart is a bit crazy and high. I think I ovulated really late this month at cd 25 which would make me about 6 dpo, have a look and see what you think? X

Hi @laurah92 and @moreinfopls how are you both getting on? Are you still temping? Mine is a bit erratic but doing my best with it! X

laurah92 · 10/04/2020 14:19

@raspberryjamlove yea exactly, it's just reassuring to see that your ovulating and your body is doing what it's meant to be doing, I always get so happy when I see a smiley face on my ovulation kit 😊 I know what you mean, I can never wait for the next day to wake up, pee on a stick and take my temperature lol 😂

raspberryjamlove · 09/04/2020 21:02

Snap I think it's that reassurance that you are ovulating when you think you are and tbh anything to feed my obsession - I wasn't like this at all before until I had a miscarriage. Lockdown doesn't help as you seem to have more time to think about thing's X

laurah92 · 09/04/2020 13:21

@raspberryjamlove just try it for a little while and see how you get on, I'm only going to use the ovulation kit and track my temperature/cycles etc till I can see a pattern, I know my body and know my ovulation and if I actually am ovulating or not then I will stop it all and just go with my body and signs x

OP posts:
raspberryjamlove · 09/04/2020 12:13

Not sure how good mine is tbh but I have the app now and let's see. Tbh both times I have got pregnant in the past I have just gone off EWCM so I should probably just go off that but feel like I wasn't to give myself the best chance! X

laurah92 · 09/04/2020 11:04

@raspberryjamlove haha yours seems a better early alarm than mine lol, mines just my boring phone going off at 6 in the morning lol 😂 I just got one off amazon called baby mad, don't know how good it is x

raspberryjamlove · 09/04/2020 10:25

I have an early alarm which never fails - a bearly 2 year old Grin I got the fermometer. Think I already messed up my first reading lol but plenty of time to get it right I guess! Wish I had started earlier! Which one do you have? X

laurah92 · 08/04/2020 22:10

@raspberryjamlove me either I just hope I start to see a pattern, not enjoying my alarm going off early on my days off tho lol 😂 let me know how you get on with it. What thermometer did you get? X

OP posts:
raspberryjamlove · 08/04/2020 21:21

My fermometer has arrived and all paired up, took my first temp just now to try it and make sure I k ow what I'm doing. Now I just need to understand it as I actually have no idea what I'm looking out for Grin

raspberryjamlove · 07/04/2020 12:48

Hi 👋 I so wish I could help but I don't understand this while temp thing myself yet Confused really hope someone can come along and help x

laurah92 · 07/04/2020 12:41

Hi ladies,
Hope you all had a nice weekend?
I really need some help? I took my temperature this morning and it's really high, I will attach a picture of my chart so far, my temperature that I took this morning is classed as abnormal?! I'm so confused what is going on, I'm only cd 9 today, I took ovulation test last night and it was low at cd 8 and then I took one this morning at cd 9 and it's saying I'm at my peak already and will ovulate tomorrow at cd 10, the massive temperature rise is confusing me tho, can anyone give me some advice?

@Moreinfopls yea I know what you mean it's so stressful moving plus I wanted to be living in our house for a little while so we known our financial situation before making that decision. Yea I'll let you know what my chart is looking like towards the end 🤞 hopefully it will start rising again for you as you had that massive dip around 7/8 dpo which looked a bit promising, hopefully af doesn't show her ugly face for you x

@laurah92 I've been with my partner for 5 years, got married 2 years ago. We're in the similar situation - wanted to find a house and move first. And only started trying once we were settled in. That was 13months ago...i probably wish we'd started earlier. But equally knowing how stressed we were (moving+work), it probably would have been a challenge anyway.
Hopefully we'll have some baby luck this year :)

Glad to hear that your partner was ready too :) that's important!
Good luck with charting BBT. Let me know how ot goes.
My temperatures have been a bit crazy, looking like I'll get my period in a few days...not the news i was hoping for, but equally i am glad to be 'collecting the data' of my temperatures, as it'll help in the next month for sure.

@raspberryjamlove aww bless ya, how long was you ttc with your first? I've been with my partner nearly 8 years and we are trying for our first, Ive wanted to try for a few years now but we also wanted to buy a house first. We brought a house last year and now we are settled in our house and know what our ongoing and in goings are, we decided it's time to start ttc 😊 I was so happy to hear my partner say that he was ready lol 😊 x

raspberryjamlove · 05/04/2020 07:35

Ekk yes that's no fun!! We've been together 8 years and have a nearly 2 year old. Lots of early starts here though things are improving lol! How about you guys? X

laurah92 · 04/04/2020 21:54

@raspberryjamlove my new ovulation pack arrived today so I'm happy now, I will start using them from Tuesday Smile keep me updated how you get on with it Smile I have to wake up about 6ish every morning now just to take my temperature lol, sometimes it can be a bit annoying, especially on day off lol 😂 times you have to do when you want a baby lol. How long you been with your partner/husband? X

raspberryjamlove · 04/04/2020 20:59

Glad to hear you're getting in the habit.m...I need to try and remember! Can't wait for it to arrive now lol x

laurah92 · 04/04/2020 14:08

@Moreinfopls me too, I only came off the pill in January so I've been using ovulation kits and just started tracking my temperature this cycle, so hopefully I can learn my cycles and pinpoint my ovulation better. Sending you lots of baby dust 🤞🤞 x

OP posts:
Moreinfopls · 04/04/2020 11:25

@laurah92 it's been a year now. Although to be fair, some months we've had better efforts than another... that's why i started charting in Jan - to give us a better chance and idea about what my body ia doing :)

laurah92 · 04/04/2020 11:19

@raspberryjamlove yea let me know how you get on with it once you got it 😊 I'm starting to get used to waking up in the morning to do it. I'm using two different apps atm. Yea once my cycles settle a bit and I have learnt whereabouts I ovulate then I can settle a bit 😊 hopefully it won't take long. I'm using the advanced clear blue kit that tells you 4 or more days. It's really good but quite expensive. Hope you have a lovely weekend x

OP posts:
laurah92 · 04/04/2020 11:16

@Moreinfopls ok thanks for that I will have to have a good at it 😊 how long have you been ttc? X

OP posts:
raspberryjamlove · 04/04/2020 07:57

Hi 👋 I got the ferometer thermometer which arrives next week so will let you know what it's like! I'm need to down load the app. Yeah I bet you're knackered! Will be good for you to know at least the window you're ovulating. Which ovulation tests do you use? I use one step and they're super cheap. Have a great weekend :)

Moreinfopls · 03/04/2020 21:45

@laurah92 I've started charting BBT a couple of months ago - the best info (and lots of it i didn't know) was in a book called Taking charge of your fertility. Honestly amazing! I finally feel in control and i am able to understand my body better! Good luck! :)
