Hey everyone,
I'm now going onto my third month of ttc, I have been using ovulation kits for the last 2 months but thought I would start tracking my basal temperature as well, I'm completely new to it so I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on it? It says you have to do it at the same time every morning before getting out of bed but does it matter if it's an hour different or so? X

@raspberryjamlove definitely keep me posted, hopefully this is your luckily month 🤞 I have my fingers crossed for you.
Like you said, I normally feel crappy for a few days then I get over it and get excited to try again. I've just ordered myself some more ovulation tests ready x

@raspberryjamlove
Ah same I'm awake 2 or 3 times with my toddler too so it's not easy, this month my app said I ovulated and I had pains but didn't see a difference in my temp Hmm xx

raspberryjamlove · 06/05/2020 13:46

Thanks @newbie9 as I have a toddler who still wakes in the night I do find I'm taking my temp at different times but just doing my best with it. The chart showed my ovulation so even though I don't think it's super accurate great it can still tell me that at least! X

raspberryjamlove · 06/05/2020 13:45

Hi @laurah92 definitely give yourself a few days to feel rubbish. I really hate those days and the odds are I will no doubt be experiencing the same next week. I'm due on Wednesday or Thursday as I tend to have 14/15 dpo before af arrives...feels a long time!

I already did a cheapie test today at 8dpo...ridiculous but couldn't stop myself despite saying I would wait until 10 days min! I have turned into this crazy woman and I hate it!!

I will keep you updated and please do the same xx

Newbie9 · 06/05/2020 13:25

Hiya
There's a lot of posts on here so don't know if you have the answer to your question, I'm tracking bbt and have done it before. I've read that as long as you take your temp after a good chunk of sleep it should be accurate, 2-4 hours sleep, ideally the same time every day. You need to stay in bed & take it as soon as you wake.
Not enough sleep beforehand & other things like alcohol can make the reading unreliable. How are you getting on? Xx

laurah92 · 06/05/2020 13:12

@raspberryjamlove thank you, yea I'm feeling down in the dumps today, it's so hard and stressful ttc, thought it would be a bit easier than this. I'm now going onto my 4th month of trying so I guess it's still very early for me but it feels like a lifetime when it's something you really want.
Hopefully your have some good news this cycle 🤞 you can't have much longer to wait now?
Oh bless you, that seems a challenge, bet it is difficult, needs eyes at the back of your head. Yes I agree, tracking temp does help as like you said, it gives you a day or two warning that af is on the way, stops you wasting tests too, I was going to do one on Tuesday but once I saw my temp had dropped, I didn't bother and the same with this morning before af came x

Oh no @laurah92 I'm sorry :( I always have a few days of feeling so down once af arrives and then pick myself up again for the next cycle. It's tough this isn't it? How are you feeling?

I'm ok thanks been having yellow cm and paid. In left side since ovulation but tbh every cycle I think I have symptoms but in reality both times I've been pregnant I didn't know until I missed af.

Temping chart is up and down struggling with a waking toddler so don't think it's very accurate but will keep trying.

In a way I feel like with temping at least the drop in temp gives you that bit of warning a day or so early as I had it last month :( xx

laurah92 · 06/05/2020 12:29

@raspberryjamlove well af arrived this morning with full force so I'm out this month 😞 my temp really dropped yeasterday and this morning so I know the witch was on her way so back onto cd 1 for me. How are you feeling today? X

Hi @laurah92 I was just reading another thread and someone with a similar looking chart to yours has just got their BFP so really hoping that's an implant dip for you. The wait is awful isn't it? Still 6dpo but I also start getting that anxious feeling where you know if it isn't the result you were hoping for you know you'll feel rubbish for a few days. I really hate how it plays on my mind so much!

So I set up an account in the bbt chart you use to track there too as I prefer the chart, it's clearer I think. Here's how I'm looking today....though I'm still quite sporadic with it I think. I actually realised when I logged in today that I had taken my temp at 1am which I don't remember lol! Luckily had then retaken it when I woke up xx

@raspberryjamlove I hope so 🤞🤞 af is due Thursday/Friday so it still has time to go down I guess, just have to see, if temp is still up by Wednesday then I'll do a test. How are you today? X

raspberryjamlove · 04/05/2020 13:07

@laurah92 great news! When is af due? Hoping she doesn't make an appearance!

laurah92 · 04/05/2020 12:45

@raspberryjamlove how are you today? My temp has gone back up today so hopefully it stays up. I will attach a picture to show you. I'm still getting light cramping tho so I think af will appear soon and disappoint me x

@laurah92 keeping everything crossed for you! Keep me posted on your temp and sending positive vibes! Xx

laurah92 · 03/05/2020 19:46

@raspberryjamlove me too but I'm not getting my hopes up. Yea it does, all this ttc is so stressful and makes you worry about everything.
I'm going to try and hope off till Wednesday to test if Af hasn't arrived and if af still hasn't shown her face by Saturday, I'll do another test then as I'll be 1-2 days late then x

raspberryjamlove · 03/05/2020 16:41

Hi @laurah92 fingers crossed you see that rise tomorrow. I think temping is good but also adds another level of worry/analysis doesn't it?

I'm only 5dpo so got a while to go when will you start testing? Xx

laurah92 · 03/05/2020 15:10

@raspberryjamlove I'm 10 dpo today and my temperature dipped this morning, I'm hoping it rises again tomorrow. I don't know weather to take that as a good sign of not. Feel very uncomfortable and constipated, sick 🤢 headache 🤕 very sore, swollen and heavy boobs and a bit crampy and very exhausted. I'm hoping it's all signs of implantation? But don't want to get my hopes up. Have you got any symptoms? Sorry to hear about your Mc, it seems you fall pregnant 🤰 very easy and quickly when your not thinking about it. I think if nothing has happened in a few months then I will stop tracking and just let nature take its course and see how that goes x

OP posts:
raspberryjamlove · 03/05/2020 07:49

Hi @laurah92 with my 1st I didn't track anything we just said we wouldn't use protection and it happened very quickly probably 2 months after. With the baby we lost last year it was again about 2-3 months though I wasn't tracking it. I didn't become crazy with testing etc until after then! One thing I can tell from my app is that I didn't get my BFP until 3 days after af was due but I wonder if I implanted late which has a higher chance of miscarriage...of course I have actually no idea!

How's the temp tracking going? My app recognised ovulation today so that's a positive. Still a bit all over the place though! X

laurah92 · 01/05/2020 13:44

@raspberryjamlove I'm exactly the same. I say I won't test till af is due but I always do lol and like you, once I start testing, I can't stop. How long did it take you to fall pregnant last time? X

OP posts:
raspberryjamlove · 30/04/2020 19:32

@laurah92 I always say I'm going to wait but always end up testing really early and getting annoyed at myself as once I've started testing I can't stop! lol! Also when I was pregnant last time I didn't get my bfp on a normal test (not frer) until 2 days after af so I know I really shouldn't...but I definitely will Grin when will you? X

laurah92 · 30/04/2020 12:51

@raspberryjamlove yea I'm going to give it a few more cycles of tracking and if it's still the same then will talk to dr, atleast then I will have a good 3 months of info to give them so if there is a problem, hopefully they can help me quicker. Yea I know, when I looked it up online, it said PCOS that cause you to have more peaks in a cycle even when not ovulating yet as hormone imbalance, this is why I believe there is a possibility. Obviously I would love to be pregnant right now but I would also like to know that my body is doing what it's meant to be doing properly so I know that I do have a chance each other. I normally get really heavy watery cm and twinges around o time. I think I'm around 7-8 dpo now if I did even ovulate. Are you going to wait till af is due to test or will you start testing before? X

OP posts:
raspberryjamlove · 30/04/2020 12:31

@laurah92 yes sounds like it's worth speaking to the gp to get t their thoughts on it. That's interesting you have a few peaks, so you get any other symptoms? I tend to get ewcm and also tummy ache. It's great you're tracking now as will give your gp plenty of info to go off, I really wish I'd started tracking things better a few months back.

I'm 2dpo atm so a long wait! Xx

laurah92 · 30/04/2020 12:10

@raspberryjamlove by your chart, I would say that you did ovulate on cd 14 but like you this is my first month of temping so I'm really not 100% sure. Since coming off the pill in January, my cycles have been all over the place in length so not really sure what my normal is yet. Yea I'm still using ovulation kits too. I believe I have PCOS, as every month I have been doing tests, I get more than one peak in the cycle, this month I got 4 before I believe I did actually ovulate so I'm keeping an eye on that and if it continues then I will talk to dr about it, that could also be causing my chart to be a bit all over the place too. How many dpo are you now? X

OP posts:
raspberryjamlove · 30/04/2020 08:29

Oh no @anotherfeduplady I hope you're doing ok. Sounds like you've had a very rough month! X

raspberryjamlove · 30/04/2020 08:28

Hi @laurah92 I find them hard to interpret but I think you're right, what cd do you usually ovulate? After tracking a few months I've realised I tend to get peak LH cd 13 and ovulate on cd 14...well I think anyway, I have all the signs! Did you do lh testing this cycle or have any other symptoms only ovulation?

My chart is suggesting I didn't ovulate as my temp isn't a big enough jump but im 99% sure I did and it's because my temps fluctuate so much. I'm finding temping hard to do as I have a toddler who isn't a great sleeper so I'm tossing and turning when I hear him crying and some nights having to go to him. I love the idea of temping and will carry on but don't think I can do it very accurately atm!
