What age were you and how did TTC take for you?

Not TTC yet, currently finishing my strip of my pill then trying Natural Cycles before TTC later this year.

I’m quite curious, how old were you with each baby and how long did it take TTC?

I’ve explained my situation in my last post, I’m 22 (engaged, house with my fiancé, both financially stable and in stable jobs - before anyone states we should be married! Which we’re aiming to do as soon as things start getting back to normal) I’m quite worried we’ll have problems TTC or won’t be able to so I don’t know why but I want to hear how long it took for everyone, what age you decided to etc!

Feel free to not add certain details if you don’t feel comfortable Smile

Had 1st baby at 29- took 9 months.
Currently pregnant with baby number 2, aged 30. I fell pregnant second month of trying.

Started trying at 25 and conceived within first few months. Had MC before 12 weeks and started trying again 3 months later and conceived DD1 immediately. Conceived DD2 whilst still breast feeding 9 months later! At 22 you should be fine. Obviously there are some who are unlucky but you have plenty of time even if you need some medical intervention.

31 first go and 33 not trying, it was 6 months earlier than we’d planned to start trying. We feel very lucky we have never had the stress of trying to conceive. I’d never normally shout about how easy we found it though, I’m surrounded by people who didn’t have our luck.

I guess you tend to hear more about people struggling than people posting they were pregnant in 2 weeks as that would just seem smug. I was the same before we decided to have our first child, I’d convinced myself it wouldn’t happen and I’d have issues or something as it seems so common.

I'm 23 and I'm still ttc with my first. It's been nearly a year now 😭

28 and happened straight away. As you are young, there is no way I'd try now. Definitely wait it out. Pregnancy can make you very anxious and the current state of the world won't help with the anxiety!

@CastleSalem not that I’m anticipating any, I’m just a bit of a worrier!

I have more of a fear that we won’t be able to conceive without any reason. Obviously I should not be worrying like that because I can reassure myself of the positive factors (age, no conditions)

Why do you anticipate any difficulty if you're very young and don't have any conditions likely to impact on your fertility?

I was 39 and got pregnant the first month.

I was 31 and conceived within the first week of trying. I came off the pill 3 months prior to starting to TTC.

We’re also wanting to start TTC again for baby number 2 but will ideally wait for all this to blow over first (I don’t want to be pregnant in the middle of a health crisis but I’m also very aware that I’m not getting any younger!). I think it’s normal to worry that you might not be able to conceive easily, but you’re young and healthy so have very very good chances. Don’t stress.

Take your time wait until this is over, Preferrably get married. I was 22, got stressed because people around me were taking 2 years, stopped the pill and was pregnant a month later

I was 20 came of the pill to ttc and it took 2 months , and the same happened again was 23 ttc and was pregnant 2 month later.
I was greatfull it happened so quick but was thinking it would probably take us a while to concieve and was enjoying not having to take the pill and be hormone free for a while but it was quick.

Thank you everyone! I have been reassured by quite a few people (mother + friends who I’ve opened up to) that my age puts me at a great advantage. As for any conditions, none to note! The reason I do want to try natural cycles is to see what my cycle is like because on the pill it’s standard 3 weeks on, 1 week withdrawal, so I don’t know my real cycle. We definitely are not going to TTC now, and if it comes to September and things are not starting to return to normal or in the process of, we won’t try then either.

I guess I mainly just wanted to speak to other women and reassure some of my worries? And hear about how it went for you!

Ds1 I was 24, we weren't actively trying but I conceived within 2 months of deciding to see what happens and come off the pill

Ds2 I conceived around the time of my 27th birthday after a year of active TTC; I had been breastfeeding throughout most of the TTC and conceived within 2 months of weaning toddler ds1

Ds3 I conceived on the Pill at the age of 33 and didn't realise for almost three months!

I was between 30 and 34 when I conceived my DC. It happened within the first three months all three times.

I was 35 happened first attempt. Then tried again at 38. It took 6 months and one early miscarriage.

First baby 27 and 2 months, second baby 30 and first month. I count myself as very lucky

I’m 32 and it happened in the first month, I did track ovulation though and had been on the pill for 10 years.

23, DH 29. Stopped taking the pill Jan 1st 19 after being on it for 11 years and found out I was pregnant a year ago yesterday and now sat nursing my 4 month old daughter 🙂

25 first go, twin pregnancy but mc both.
Marriage ended.
35 first go have a lovely teen dc .

Positive test 6 weeks after having my implant out with DD when I was 31. Positive test 8 weeks after having implant out with DS 2 years later. We were extremely fortunate.

We were in a similar situation to you and waited till we got married before ttc - then it was buying a larger house - 5 years down the line and 3 years of ttc we wish we had started earlier. Agree with others wait till nhs is back on its feet then if your stable and have support crack on!
