After almost 1 year of waiting, only 7 more pills left!

Hi all,

I'm so excited to start our TTC journey. It really feels we've waited for so long for this time to come. I have been ready for years, the feeling of broodiness is actually overwhelming at times. And now the time is almost here! I have just 7 more pills to take before we can start and couldn't get more excited. Although I am a little worried I have some break through bleeding currently (not uncommon for me) so I have wondered if that may be a problem..

How long after stopping the pill did it take you to conceive? I have terrible anxiety about this (my breakthrough bleeding being a factor in this)..
I am 27 and have been on contraception for 9 years, currently on the combined pill.

Hopefully it will all be back to normal soon. BUT until it is, there is no guarantee you will continue to be able to get proper antenatal care, you may well be prevented from leaving your home etc. Your diet may end up being suboptimal. Waiting 6 months to TTC would be the sensible thing to do

I didn'tovulate for a year after coming off the pill.

And I agree with the others OP, these are such uncertain times, I would hold off trying to get pregnant.

They still don't know what the impact is of coronavirus on pregnancy, but they do have evidence in China of increased stillbirth risk. I know how it feels to be desperate to conceive, but do you really think now is the time?

It took me 8 months to conceive after coming off the pill.

I was on the POP since I was about 14, and I conceived at 26 in my 4th month of trying. It didn’t have a happy ending, but feeling a lot more positive, older and wiser as we go into our second attempt at TTC!

Jobs are so uncertain, effects of covid on pregnant women, foetuses and newborns are still unknown and it is a advert anxious time. I’d honestly hold off until things are calmer and safer and you can enjoy it.

I was on the combined pill for 11 years and it took me 6 months to conceive, though my cycles were horribly long and irregular when I came off.
Just a note though, if you're anxious it might be best holding off until more is known about COVID-19 and impact on babies/foetal development... not to put a dampener on things but it is a very worrying time to be pregnant x
