This is my first ever post. I've been off my contraception pill since December 2018 but myself and my fiancé didn't begin to actively try until June 2019. For the first 6 months it really didn't bother me I thought we'll get there when we get there! We've recently bought our first home a lovely spacious house all ready to go! Something that we could grow into. Recently we've looked at camper vans and saying 'won't that be lovely then we can take our children away at the weekends'.... then the my period rises its ugly head! Now I'm sat here extremely upset thinking what's the point! We've waited a long time to save the money to get ourselves financially stable to have a family but nothing is happening!

So I've started using the clue blue digital yesterday was false but today a smiley face!! It's day 15 of my cycle. Obvs we got dtd this morning. Not sure if we should again tonight or wait till tomorrow? I've also had pink spotting today which isn't usually normal for me, it's happened once before during ovulation.

@Georgie31 they are the same thing I think opk is just the technical term and abreviation people tend to use. I have 3 different ones all of them are from clear blue I have mainly been using the digital one (purple one) as it shows high fertility days, flashing smiley face, by detecting estrogen levels and peak days, static smiley face, by detecting lh. I also bought bought the one that connects to the app but couldn’t get the app on my phone. I used mine today and it’s the first time I’ve ever had a flashing smiley face, usually I see either a circle or a static smiley face only and have been using them since September

Georgie31 · 08/04/2020 17:14

I use ovulation tests but never used a kit before can any advise me on the best one?

OP posts:
Ickleme8 · 08/04/2020 16:52

@Ails826 we live 90mins from the nearest fertility clinic so think I’ll need to stick to the opk for the time being. Know exactly what you mean by too much/ too little sex so much different information out there

@Georgie31opk is ovulation predictor kit

Georgie31 · 08/04/2020 15:35

Hi girls can I ask what OPK is?

OP posts:
Ails826 · 08/04/2020 13:40

@ickleme8
Umm I hated blood tests at the beginning but now to be honest its fine and accurate i stopped doing OPK and temping and everything and now just rely on the blood tests and just note it down. I actually got that through my doctor but now I see a fertility specialist probsbly because i annoyed our doctor so much woth being so worried about everything
I also get an ultrasounf they measure the follicles and then call you that day and tell you to have sex 3 days in a row
We also found ir better because there is so so so much info out there we were loke are we having sex too much should we have sex everynother day it was a chore we wernt having a great time and now we carry on as nornal and then have sex 3 days n a row once a month haha

cosmo30 · 08/04/2020 13:34

We've been actively trying for 3 years now. I've got pcos, just finished 6 months of clomid. Nothing. Now on metformin while waiting for ovarian drilling ( obviously it's been cancelled )
Hang in there. I know it's so annoying when people say "it will happen" but we've got to stay positive!!

Ickleme8 · 08/04/2020 13:22

@Ails826
I’ve only tried OPKs and temp charting
How are you blood tracking? And how are you finding it? Xx

Positevibes · 08/04/2020 13:16

I don't know if this will help anyone but I use the clue app and really like it. We've been trying for 7 months and I had a chemical pregnancy in Feb that's when I started using the app. I also started taking folic acid. Fingers crossed for everyone 🌈

Ickleme8 · 08/04/2020 13:15

Hi OP
We’ve been ttc for over a year now and have been actively monitoring ovulation taken vitamins etc for over 6 months. I had my bloods and an internal ultra sound done late last year and all seamed fine so without doing any other tests have been trying to improve the quality of my eggs, red it starts with the egg and then changed the vitamins I was taking 2 months ago to include cq10, alpha lipoid acid and changed to proceive max women. I also started seeing an acupuncturist (had 2 sessions but has now stopped due to covid19) and she also advise different things to eat at different points in my cycle. My dp was due to get sa which is now also on hold due to the current situation. So given there’s nothing we can do about that at the moment we’ll just keep ttc and have fun with it. Xx

@Georgie31 Hi OP. Please don't lose hope. We got our BFP on Saturday after 18 months of trying! We'd been making our way through sperm testing, hormone testing and I had a laparoscopy and dye test operation on 29 Jan. absolutely everything was completely normal.

Sometimes it just takes time, very frustrating and upsetting. I'd convinced myself it was just not going to happen. It will, just give it time. We had stopped using OPKs and just dtd whenever we wanted to, trying to get 3 in a week.

Georgie31 · 09/03/2020 20:30

@Thefaceofboe it's hard isn't it putting all
This preparation in to provide the best start in life for your future little one.... for the little one not wanting to arrive!!! @willithappen I think we're at least going to wait till we move then discuss going to the gp. In all honesty I've watched families nearly fall apart over IVF treatment for us it would be a big step to go through it were more inclined to go down the fostering or adoption route. But like @Ellismartine said IF it came to it.

OP posts:
willithappen · 09/03/2020 18:40

Hey OP

When deciding whether to start investigations now I think it's worth asking how quickly you want things to happen.
If you need assistance and go down the NHS route there is a LOT of waiting, so I'd suggest the sooner you take the first step the sooner to that hopeful BFP!

I'm in the middle of investigations. Waiting to be put on IVF waiting list (DP needs to stop smoking for three months so we can't go on list until end of April). First went to doctor in October last year and got bloods done and partner got SA. Been to fertility clinic twice since then. Initial appointment, then back to have a HyCoSy test and out next appointment is 28th April. It feels like so long/so much waiting.

Then NHS IVF waiting lists are all looking around the 6 month mark too. So I'll be another 6 months once I actually get on the waiting list.

We are down as unexplained infertility. My partner does have only 1% morphology but they don't see that as an issue at all for some reason.

Thefaceofboe · 09/03/2020 18:31

You have literally just described me in your OP! and my name is Georgie Grin came off my pill at the same time as you but didn’t start trying for a few months. Currently doing up our first house Grin good luck!

Georgie31 · 09/03/2020 17:53

@Ellismartine

Thankyou so much! I suffer with anxiety and have a habit of worrying about stuff that hasn't happened yet.

OP posts:
Ellismartine · 09/03/2020 17:30

Bless you I know what you mean I was the same but I promise you either way IF you hit the year mark and see the doctor you will feel better, if there is something not quite right it can be fixed and if there isn't just enjoy trying, then IF it came to it there are other avenues to go down :) x

Georgie31 · 09/03/2020 17:06

Hi @Ellismartine

That's really refreshing to hear! That even when there's nothing wrong it can just take longer. I've automatically presumed that if it's getting closer to that 12 month mark that there's deffo something wrong with me or my fiancé. Xx

OP posts:
Ellismartine · 09/03/2020 16:57

Hi Georgie!
Sorry to hear you're going through this, I completely understand how you feel! In your own circle of friends and people you know it feels like you're the only one so it's good to talk to people in the same situation!
Congratulations on your new home by the way. Apparently anything up to two years is considered normal.
Me and my fiancé have been trying almost 3 years and neither of us have anything wrong!
I have now stopped tracking and overly 'trying' just enjoy having regular sex and take your vitamins , in my experience I found it more stressful temping, peeing on sticks ect!
Good luck xx

Georgie31 · 09/03/2020 16:52

I'm using Ovia and it isn't great. If I put in any information into it it will shift my fertile window.

OP posts:
inahaze · 09/03/2020 16:50

@Georgie31. i'm using the flo app, ovia and FF mobile and they ALL give me different ovulations / fertile windows despite using the same data Confused

Georgie31 · 09/03/2020 16:43

Yes I've been tracking my ovulation with an app and ovulation sticks. We generally have sex every other day or on the 3rd day throughout the month. I'm not a fan of the app to be honest. It will suggest for me to take a pregnancy test before my period is due, sometimes 4 or 5 days before my next period is estimated and I'm not sure why.

OP posts:
inahaze · 09/03/2020 16:37

@Georgie31 have you done any charting of your cycle, like BBT charting or tracking your ovulation with OPKs?

there's a great book called "taking charge of your fertility" which you can pick up cheap second hand, tells you everything you need to know
