Getting pregnant after Mirena removal

Hello,

I had my coil removed 6 days ago. Just wondering if anyone can share any stories of when they have conceived after having theirs removed?

Congratulations 🎊

ginsparkles · 20/05/2020 14:18

@watermelon Good luck!

watermelonwizard · 20/05/2020 14:04

wow thank you all for sharing. it really does give me hope and make me feel very positive about the prospect of becoming pregnant soon!

@ginsparkles that's awful, sorry to hear you've been through that. I have heard a lot of stories where the mirena wreaks havoc with your menstrual cycles. I am one of the lucky ones in that respect as I had an AF a few days later, I was concerned it was removal bleeding but I don't think so as I had nothing for the first few days then a quite heavy (compared to what they were like on the mirena) bleed for 2-3 days after which is typical of my AFs pre mirena.

Like I say I am now tracking ovulation which is predicted to happen at the weekend so I have my fingers crossed (impatient I know!)

Thank you to everyone who shared their story :)

Had mine out and 8 months later I hadn't had a single period. I was referred for medical intervention to restart my periods. That was 9 years ago.

I had another in after my DD was born. That was removed over a year ago now and I still have no periods. I was regular as clockwork before the mirena.

nyedry · 20/05/2020 12:18

I had mine removed 12th Nov 2019, a few days of light bleeding after removal and I'm currently 24 weeks.
Was very surprised that it happened so quickly as we were expecting it to take a while judging by what I had read online.

beautifulmonument · 20/05/2020 12:17

I got pregnant on my first ovulation after having my Mirena removed so within just a few weeks.

Dowermouse · 20/05/2020 12:10

I had mine out and gave birth 10 months 1 day later at 42+3. When I'd previously asked, I was told that the lining of my uterus would be "just peachy" to try ttc straight away after removal.

SunlightBlazing · 20/05/2020 12:05

@watermelonwizard I thought that too, so I said I'd pop mine in :D Anecdotally, I've also had friends who've had it out and were pregnant 2-3 months afterwards, so there are some good stories out there too

watermelonwizard · 20/05/2020 11:48

@SunlightBlazing oh wow! Thanks for sharing. You hear a lot of negatives so it’s nice to hear the positives too. X

SunlightBlazing · 20/05/2020 11:26

For my second, I got my mirena out and was pregnant 8 weeks later

JENHEL · 20/05/2020 11:24

Thank you!!!!

watermelonwizard · 20/05/2020 10:48

@JENHEL aaahhhh congratulations!!!! That’s fantastic news. So happy for you! Xx

Bells3032 · 20/05/2020 10:19

Congratulatuons!!!!

JENHEL · 20/05/2020 10:02

Well, I can't quite believe it. I did a clearblue this morning and it's a BFP (big fat positive)

6-7 months off the mirena!!

watermelonwizard · 19/05/2020 21:20

@AnxiousAnnie86 I’m so sorry to hear about your MC. I have everything crossed for you for next time.

@monkeybean10 oooh good luck! Let us know :) yeah I guess symptoms will be hard to separate for me too as it’s been a while since a ‘proper’ AF! Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for replying both

monkeybean10 · 19/05/2020 21:14

Mine was removed recently, had a bleed 25th April that lasted 5 days. We've DTD a few times since.
Currently having minor cramps and my boobs are very tingly and sensitive. This could be AF symptoms though, it's been a while!! Tested this morning and it was negative. AF is due around the weekend sometime.
I'm 31, TTC for a 2nd and my partners first (he's 38) Smile

AnxiousAnnie86 · 19/05/2020 21:12

I had mine out after five years sept last year, got pregnant after a month but sadly ended in MC, took till Jan for periods to return after MC 7dpo today, good luck to you all xxxx

watermelonwizard · 19/05/2020 21:12

Congratulations @msb86 that’s amazing news! Lovely to hear.

@Bells3032 good luck for your removal. I was so nervous but it was actually really painless! A teeny cramp but nothing on it going in. I got way too worked up!! Hope it works out for you. Keep us updated.

@JENHEL I have everything crossed for you. The longest 2 weeks ever?! Keep us updated!

Thank you all for replying. Such an exciting but anxious time.

JENHEL · 19/05/2020 21:04

I had the mirena coil out in Ocotober... had no period for a couple of months. Started TTC in December! I'm in the two week wait now... fingers crossed this is my month eh!!

Bells3032 · 19/05/2020 20:23

Following this. I am planning to have mine out in August (or whenever I can post covid) but don't plan to ttc til October as heard people saying about the thinner linging.

msb86 · 19/05/2020 20:16

Hi @watermelonwizard I had my coil out in Feb and I'm now 8 weeks pregnant. Can't believe how quickly it happened!

watermelonwizard · 19/05/2020 20:03

Hi All. Very new to this! Nice to read your stories, I had my mirena coil out (2nd one so 8 years in total) on the 13th of this month. Had what I’m hoping and think was AF on the 17th which has finished today (didn’t miss those!) Now eagerly tracking ovulation as I am TTC with DH (his first my second!) I am 30. Any other stories of TTC after mirena? Smile

Hardheadedwoman39 · 20/02/2020 19:45

I had my Mirena coup removed July 2019, had a massive bleed (awful), then had a chemical pregnancy in August then got pregnant again in September......am now 26 weeks...

If I were to do it again I'd have given my body a few more mo this to adjust!

MGee123 · 20/02/2020 13:10

I had my mirena coil removed end of August (after having it in for nearly 6 years) and we are still TTC - currently CD8 of cycle 7. It took 4-5 cycles for my pattern to start evening out but I seem to have settled into a 23/24 day cycle now. I was using OPKs but am having a break as I felt they increased my stress levels. We're just DTD every other day and keeping our fingers crossed for now! Hoping it will be our turn soon 🤞😊

GaaaaarlicBread · 20/02/2020 12:40

Hiya ! I had my coil out end of September , got two periods (one big bleed and one normal), and got my positive test on Christmas Eve ! Didn’t count October as a TTC month as my husband was working a lot ! So really it only took one cycle . Good luck x
