Got a BFP, not sure how I feel and DH isnt going to be happy

I've also posted on the pregnancy board.

My period was late and yesterday I did a Pg test and got a BFP. DH and I have discussed another child, we have 2 already 5 & 8 and he was very much against it although I was very keen. We agreed that we wouldnt have another child and concentrate on our relationship. Circumstances at the min are not great financially although we had DS when I was 21 so not great timing then either! I havent told him that I have done the test but did tell him yday that it was very late - he has said constantly I hope you aren't pregnant. A bit of background is that DH had an affair 3 years ago and we seperated for 9 months. We are now very much together and have a stronger relationship, I'm just so scared that he will take this news badly and leave as he has been texting me all morning to tell me to get a test and do it and that he is worried sick that it is going to be BFP. I asked him this morning if he loved me which he answered yes, I asked him if he would still love me if I was pg and he said yes but he really did not want another child. I know this may seem insensitive of me when there are so many people trying very hard to conceive, its just such a very very big shock to me. Part of me is so pleased but the rest is shocked/scared/worried about DH reaction. I had my mirena coil out earlier this year, been on Cilest pill since. I am due to be bridesmaid at my brother and SIL wedding next March, by my reckoning I will be around 7 months pg by then - I'm due to go for the first fitting on Thursday - do I tell them or not, I dont want them to pay any money when I know I wont be able to do it but then again as I am only 4/5 weeks I dont want it made public....

What a pickle I'm in .... Please help

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas xxx

hogwarts · 22/12/2007 16:21

Hiya, Yes thanks Looney it was all fine. I'd got myself into a bit of a panic about it, thinking that there would be something wrong due to my feelings/denial at the early stages but all was well and as it should be. Didn't get many pics tho as LO wouldn't stay at peace and they all came out blurred! Was lovely to see though and shed a few tears after
How are you keeping?

Just checking all was ok at the scan Hogwarts? xxx

maisiemog · 20/12/2007 23:40

Hi Hogwarts, that's fantastic news, about your DH coming round. You so deserve to be looked after. It bodes well for a much more relaxed Crimby than it promised to be a month or so ago. Funny how things change!
You sound so much more happy now. Hope the scan goes well - I remember being terrified before mine, in case DS had turned into a monkey or something.

coolkat · 20/12/2007 22:02

Good to hear things are good Hogwarts. I hope the scan went well and there is only one!!

You have a lovely christmas - you deserve it.

X

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 20/12/2007 15:50

Oh, just caught up. How did the scan go???

So pleased things are looking up hun. Merry Christmas xxxxx

hogwarts · 19/12/2007 08:58

Hi Guys,

Have my 20 week scan tomorrow, I will let you all know how it goes. Things with DH have been good, starting to talk about the baby, showing concern as to how I am and helping me about the house etc. I think now that people know about it, it is easier on all of us, he will be coming with me tomorrow and hopefully seeing LO for the first time will make it "real" for him and help even more.

In the meantime I wanted to wish you all a very Happy and peaceful Christmas. For those TTC I truely hope that 2008 brings you your wishes. There are a lot of special people on this thread and I hope that you all have the special Christmas that you deserve. You have all been such a support to me over the past few months, I will never forget that. And a special Christmas wish to my secret santa, I hope that Santa rewards you in the same way xx

Hi hogwarts, still remember me, I'm so glad that your mum took the news well, I did tell you. Great that things are going better and I hope that now the news are in the open you DH will get his head around it as well.

hogwarts · 11/12/2007 16:28

Hi Guys, thanks again for the further words of support - they really do mean a lot.

I posted a while ago about the secret santa pressie which I received (I still take it out and peek at it everyday and can't believe the generosity of the person who sent it to me. I have also posted on the thank you board but just to put my mind at rest - if you don't want to out yourself thats fine, but can you, in some way let me know that you know I got it ok.I would hate think that this kind person thinks that I haven't thanked them for their generosity. (IYKWIM!!!)

Only just seen this. I'm sooooo happy for you hogwarts! It must be wonderful to have such love and support from family and friends after such a sressful time. And it was so touching to hear about your Mum's and your DCs reactions!

Sounds like H is coming round to the idea as well. Give him time and he'll be saying it was his idea all along!

Have I missed your pregnancy thread? I don't want to lose touch x

AnybodyHomeMcFly · 07/12/2007 20:10

Hurray, hurray, hurray!!! So pleased for you Hogwarts

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 06/12/2007 16:18

It is wonderful to read your posts - there is so much joy and excitement bubbling up now. I'm so pleased you are getting all this support now and especially that your children were excited.

maisiemog · 06/12/2007 15:32

That's such brilliant new Hogwarts! I'm so glad you can now celebrate this baby the way it should be and get all the fuss and attention that an expectant Mum should get!!!
Hooray!
I'm crying about the Santa in the cabin; children are so gorgeous aren't they!
It is quite fortuitous that you have found another person who has been through this before. It help sometimes to sit and chat with someone who knows exactly how you are feeling. I sense a much happier person now, with all the love from family, just what you deserve.
Big Hug!
Did you start the pregnancy thread yet??

TheIceQueen · 06/12/2007 11:14

That's fantastic Hogwarts - you see in 1yrs time you'll be posting on with threads such as

"DH always wants to sort the baby out and I don't get a look in"

ABudafulSightWereHappyTonight · 06/12/2007 09:47

You sound so much better.

Really pleased for you. I know the last few months have been miserable but hopefully it is now all "onwards and upwards".

Enjoy all the attention and excitement - you deserve it!

hogwarts · 06/12/2007 09:03

Aww thanks, in tears reading this - bloody hormones!

DH was there when I told the kids although he didnt say much - I gave off that he wasnt saying much but he said I was covering it all. I'm just leaving him to do things in his own time. Kids didnt settle for ages in bed, were dead excited. My brother and SIL called round, DH was out when they arrived. They congratulated him when he came in and he was quite flippant about it and changed the topic of conversation pretty quickly. He obv hasnt fully come round but as its now the hot topic of coversation I dont think he is going to have much choice but to talk about it. At the minute I'm caught up in the "high" that everyone else is giving off and don't care how he is reacting. I told him it is up to him to tell his dad/sister etc. TBH I don't care if he doesnt tell them until the LO is born, there is no love lost between me and his family, we rarely see them (unless they want something) so if he tells them then so be it, they aren't going to be a part of my support so I dont need them just at the minute. I told another friend (by text late last night as I didnt want her DS to hear from my DS in school today) She also had suspicions (I thought I was hiding it well!!) but confessed that she was exactly the same when she discovered she was pg with her youngest and her DH reacted the same way so I am going to ring her later today and we can compare notes.
What a rollercoaster! There's a long way to go with DH but at least its moving now, rather than being "stuck". I feel so much better already.
