Ttc at 40 something!

Probably the only place I feel comfortable enough to share details of when I had sex and what is going on with my vagina 😳
So as the title says I'm 40 and some extra and desperately ttc since 2017, I've had 2 miscarriages in this time 1 being a Mmc and the other at week 12 which was horrendous. If you want to join for some love, support and a chat please do!

Just back from epu. Scan showed a gestational sac and slightly large yolk sac but no baby. They dated the pregnancy at 5 weeks but I had a positive test over 5 weeks ago 😭

Sorry to hear you're bleeding @mumoffour I had my DD when I was 40 and I bled heavily from about 5 weeks until 18w. Was admitted into hospital at 16w because I lost so much blood. I hope things go well for you at the EPU.

I would like to join this thread if that's okay? I'm 42 and trying. Got a faint positive last month but think it was a chemical. I have been depressingly reading a thread that lists all the reasons why people in their 40s shouldn't have children which I've found pretty miserable to read. Currently in my fertile week and hoping this month is our month.

Morning guys, hope you dint mind me joining in. I'm 40 in sept and we have just decided to try for another. We have 2 already, youngest is nearly 10. I have a herniated disc and that put us off for yrs, but I'm mad broody now. Think because of the age and it been a now or never scenario. So DH has been very supportive.
We were using any contraceptive so hopefully that stands to us. According to apps my ov day is tomorrow (we will be 14yrs together) so we have been DTD daily this last few days. No sign of a mucus or that really. I never paided that much attention before but have felt the ov twinge. My cycle is generally spot on to the day. So fingers crossed. We had no issues conceiving before but the age thing def worries me.

@Anxiousbuthopeful I'm so sorry. Don't give up hope though. You hear so many stories of people falling naturally while waiting for the first round of ivf. I think sometimes it happens when you least expect it xx

@Sunshinelove8 it's been an odd 2 days. The bleeding stopped overnight so I went to work as normal, it started again with back ache and mild cramps but not enough to soak a pad. I really expected it to get worse by now but still not much. I'm being seen by the epu at 11.30 so will know today exactly what's happening x

@Mumof4andahalf my bf had bleeding and ended up rushing to hospital , she bled throughout the first trimester but she’s fine now. I hope you are just experiencing this . Big hugs x

I am sorry to hear about your miscarriages, OP. It is devastating.

I'm not TTC, I just wanted to send you a message of hope! I got pregnant at 43 and everything was fine. I did a lot of exercise before TTC, ate healthily, changed job so I wasn't so stressed. And i made sure I didnt gain too much weight while I was pregnant. I was so terrified at first of something going wrong and then I realised, I can't control it, all it is doing is making me a nervous wreck. The best I can do is enjoy it, stay calm and positive. I did hypnobirthing which was also a wonderful experience. I had to be induced because I was over 40, the consultant said it wasnt necessary and she had her fingers crossed I'd pop before 40 weeks - sadly I didnt.

Anyway no real point to this post, except to say it IS possible to have a wonderful, healthy pregnancy in your 40s. If you find you are encountering a lot of negativity, just avoid the places where you are finding it, even if it means a holiday from certain social media.

Being an older mum is a blessing, you don't take a single second for granted (this truly is my last baby).

Slight spotting this afternoon so not looking good. I know it can be normal but I had a gut feeling on Friday that something was wrong 😢

Hi I don’t but I’m also taking it and googled it and says It can affect lining thickness making it thinner and affecting implantation. I’m glad you raised this as I’ll now stop taking it . It’s lucky you’ve realised it now at least and can also stop . I don’t know what it means for you current cycle , average implantation is 9dpo so your body has a couple of days or more to build up the lining hopefully . I can’t believe what these vitamins can do 🙁 have to be so careful x

Ladies - have just taken a curcumin supplement and then got suspicious, checked the web and found out they can prevent implantation. Am 6-7DPO and worried that I’ve blown my chances. Don’t suppose any of you have any experience in this area?

@Anxiousbuthopeful I'm ok.... 7 + 1 and just wishing the weeks away to that magic 12 weeks point! I had my booking in appt today and have been prescribed low dose aspirin due to age and the fact my youngest is 10. I've heard it can help prevent miscarriage so fingers crossed!
