Ttc at 40 something!

Ah yes makes sense , I live in London and flying around at the moment with covid is a bit risky so staying with clinics here . I’ll be trying pgs too . Will you be doing any banking eggs schemes ? I’m worried at our age ( I’ve also got low amh) that ivf won’t retrieve much on a one try basis x

I forgot to say - going abroad because I live in Italy and Italy doesn’t have a great track record with IVF plus lots of restrictions...

My last attempt was in Belgium with a guy who is meant to be very good (Dr Platteau). I think I might do my next cycle with him too given there is supposed to be some sort of learning process. I am also looking at Spain though (Barcelona IVF and Clinica IVI). How about you?

Hi there @Anxiousbuthopeful - no rainbow as hcg levels are falling (but still not zero). Pants, I was unreasonably hoping it might be and feeling a bit miserable now. I think I will also try IVF again as soon as I can, we might be cycling together (give or take a few days). Am considering back to back cycles of embryo freezing (possibly + pgs) to try to make hay while there is still some sun left...

Hi hun , I got my AF yesterday is very heavy and feel zapped of energy ! It can take 4-6 weeks , so mine was about 4. If you have hcg in your system it will delay AF. Have you taken any pregnancy tests to see lines /darkening ? It would be wonderful to be a rainbow . I’m not trying naturally anymore as I can fall pregnant but not carry past 8 weeks so having more tests and then ivf with pgs in a month x

Hello everyone! Hi @Sunshinelove8 - how is it all going? I am not sure what’s going on with me. Still no period post MMC and my hcg is slightly positive, most likely from the failed pregnancy but I’ve a glimmer of hope that it might be a rainbow...

Last week I was rough physically- struggled to do a no 2 ! But feel a lot better this week physically . However , been struggling to sleep - insomnia / nightmares etc . I think it’s a form of PTSD after 3 mmc so close - over one year . Actually looking at ivf when I get my period but doing pgs too . I’m pretty sure my mmc are all chromosome issues ( although await results of last one ) they just were similar - ending 8-9 weeks . This last one I was very monitored and had everything possible drug wise and it still failed . I don’t want to face anymore mcs so will only try if I know the embryo has no issues . I could do with 6 months off to be honest but none of us on here have time on our side ! That’s also why I don’t want to try naturally too , it took 5 months last time to conceive . Will you try naturally for a bit then try ivf again ? X

Yes, it was. I haven’t done so well at conceiving naturally. When do you think you might try again? How are you feeling?

Just asking as was going to suggest if you had multiple mcs like me - looking at ivf with pgs or something ( on the chance like me it’s likely larger number of abnormal eggs ) however , you haven’t so good idea to keep going naturally . Was your last pg ivf ? I can’t remember xx

I’ve had a chemical pregnancy before, but this was my first d&c

I ovulated two weeks after my bleeding stopped after first mc (used opks ) and got pg but cp . I treated my miscarriage bleed like a period and put the dates in an app to approximate when I might ovulate and get a period . Obviously it can be delayed though . They say a period can be 4-6 weeks after .

Hello all, how are you? I have finally stopped bleeding (mostly). It is now exactly two weeks since my D&C. Do you reckon I should be trying again? Does anyone know when I might be likely to ovulate?

Hi there , yes , I think I have hyper fertility too . I get pregnant every couple of months but have had 4 mc in a year . I’ve decided to do ivf with pgs to try and weed out the bad ones as I think I have a lot and this is only way I can think to de risk any future pregnancy ( can’t go through another mc )
I was on every drug going in this pregnancy as went to a top private fertility clinic but it didn’t work because I think it was a chromosome issue again ( awaiting test results) and they covered the bases of everything else that could have caused it. Unfortunately like 80 % eggs are poor at our age

I've had my third early miscarriage in as many months of trying. I'm convinced I have hyper fertility, I've been reading about it and it fits with me. I get pregnant first time we try but it seems my uterus is 'unfussy' and clings to eggs which aren't viable so I miscarry. Has anyone else got this or had a successful pregnancy after multiple miscarriages? I'm 40 now and desperately want a sibling for my son whose 3

You can try straight away . I ovulated two weeks after my last miscarriage. They tell you to wait for the next period because of dating the pregnancy more easily . I actually got pregnant the month after my first mc but was a cp. you’re supposed to be more fertile . So you’re trying naturally? I’m not going to try naturally anymore , as I get pregnant okay but always miscarry at 8-9 weeks so assume eggs are bad and will need ivf/ pgs probably

Apparently just supposed to wait and see for a couple of weeks and then go back to have it checked. Do you know when one can start trying again after a d&c? Have heard best to have at least one period in between, but possibly old wives’ tale?

Oh no @Sunshinelove8. I am so so sorry. I thought mine was bad but your experience sounds horrific. I hope your weekend goes as well as possible, and that the wait isn’t too bad.

@Anxiousbuthopeful I’m glad yours is over , sorry about the retained product as they call it , will you need another procedure? I waited from 7:30 am to 4pm nil by mouth All day and all alone yesterday and mine got cancelled due to too many emergencies so I have to come back Monday , I burst into tears when doctor told me . It’s now over two weeks since the heartbeat actually stopped and still carrying it 😞 , want to move on .

@Rachel0317 good luck with your weight loss , it’s tough over lockdown - I put weight on like most folk I think . So it’s hard .
Pregnancy/pmt/pms symptoms are almost identical unfortunately. I’ve been pregnant a few times now ( 1 dd) I used to get period pains up to two weeks before my actual period every day when pregnant and not pregnant. I wouldn’t find symptoms to be different really x

Oh , I’m sorry 😞 it seems we are on the same road my friend . Mine is on Thursday . Having had three at 8-9 weeks all with heartbeats , I’m pretty sure this must be a chromosome issue from reading . Are you having any tests done ? I’ve signed some forms so what they take is tested this time .
Is that an option you can ask for ( I’m not sure if they do it after one ) I’ve decided not to try naturally again and do ivf with pgs .
