Forgot to temp again!!!!! This month is doomed anyway as bd on Saturday (cd10) then started throwing up yesterday afternoon so too weak to even think about anything except to get better....now dh away until Wednesday night which I guess is cd 14 so maybe but not sooo hopeful...loads of ew this morning (sorry tmi) so think ov is imminent and keep forgetting to temp!

Hope everyone is okay....got to have some bfp's this month!

Rah sounds interesting with the herbs but ugggh not sure I could drink them ?! Might find out about the accupuncture though...

Ready how you doing positive and upbeat as usual with a mountain of information..

My bf emigrated with her family yesterday so feeling a tad sad today.. knew she was going for a while but it was still hard to say goodbye plus I was feeling awful anyway!

Hey ho moving on - hope everyone else ok

RahRah1 · 17/09/2007 08:47

Howdy peeps, hope all is well.

I started acupuncture and Chinese herbs on Saturday. Obviously don't have any results to go on, but he is warming my womb and getting me ready for pregnancy. But for 5 acupuncture sessions and two weeks worth of herbs we paid him £165... Is this a similar price to what you are paying Blueberry? He has recommended 6 weeks worth of treatment to start with.
Are you drink the herbs, as they are truly disgusting! I really hope this works as I should get a damn good reward for drinking them!

Hope everyone else is well.

Thanks for the info on charting and ovulation Ready. I have also looked up AtillatheMeerkat and she seems to know everything!

Nappy - if you are interested in acu and chinese herbs then look up a book called The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis - really interesting. I am seeing someone in London www.zhaiclinic.co.uk and she seems to get incredible results. A friend of mine had been trying for over 2 years with no luck and had been through all the medical hurdles and treatment and within 3 months of Dr Zhai's treatment she was pregnant. She noticed in this time that her charts evened out and her EWCM increased massively.

Ready thanks for some useful info there about whether biphasis = ovulation.

Blue thanks for the tip that possibly more fertile following procedure. Your charts look excellent. Have heard lots of good stuff about chinese herbs and acu recently. Fingers crossed 4 u.

Hi to everyone,

Hope your all having a good weekend, just updating temps

Ready · 15/09/2007 13:22

Afternoon all.

Sunshyne - 28.5? Erm, well from when I had my levels checked, I was told 30 is the lowest it can be to suggest ovulation. Your level being 28.5 suggests to me that you are ovulating later in your cycle, and that testing on 21 is too early. The level raises slowly and usually peaks mid way between ovulation and menstruation. It's done on 21 as a rule because the "normal" cycle is 28 days and ovulation on CD(cycle day) 14. But in reality - or certainly from meeting women on here, cycles are rarely as text book as that. How long is your cycle normally?? Is it 28 days?
Basal Body Temperature (BBT) is your temperature (oral or vaginal) on waking, at the same time each day, after at least 3 hours consecutive sleep. You plot your temperatures on a graph (you can get these online as has been said at fertilityfriend.com or you can buy the thermometer from Boots and it comes with a booklet of graphs and exlanation) and basically you should see your temperature shift upwards. This happens 24-48 hours after ovulation when the progesterone kicks in and in turns raises your temperature. The difference can be a matter of 0.1° or 0.2° - so it's essential that you have a BBT thermometer.
I hope what I have said makes sense??

Blueberry79 - Your latest chart definitely looks like you are ovulating. Much more steady temps and a definite spike. Well worth the acu and herbs I would say.
The thing about biphasic charts is that it does generally suggest ovulation. However, I have read that some women can have a a biphasic looking chart but not ovulate. If you've seen AtillatheMeerkat on the boards, she will say that a biphasic chart is not proof alone of ovulating. I like to think that for the most part BBT works, but it's certainly worth hearing all opinions

Gracie - Yes, plenty of action here Giving it our best shot, so to speak .
I know what you mean about a stray temp, they are sent to stress us out I think!! Fingers crossed for you

nh101 - Goos going on the "high" reading. Fingers crossed for you!!

NappyValley - Sorry to hear that you were teary and hormonal. I must confess to the image of ovaries being washed

Hope everyone is ok???

blueberry79 · 15/09/2007 10:32

Hello Nappy - thanks for your hijack and alert on the other thread.

Good news about you ov'ing and also I am very heartened to hear that a biphasic chart does confirm ov'ing. What was your progesterone result when they thought you weren't? Mine was 24.1 and gynae said I was not ov'ing. Had a lap and dye last week and he said ovaries were looking quite smooth which confirmed his diagnosis but my charts are definately biphasic. I have been taking prescribed chinese herbs and having acupuncture for last 3 1/2 cycles and herbal specialist says I am definitely ov'ing due to temps. Infact over last four cycles the quality of my charts has improved enormously - www.fertilityfriend.com/home/1b2720 - so really believe herbs, acu, diet etc are working.

Anyway - great news for you that doc is wrong and you are ov'ing. I am told that when you have your tubes washed/cleared your chances of conceiving in the following 3 months are higher. Good luck.

Bx

Sunshyne · 14/09/2007 21:45

Hi Ready - The progestrone test was done on day 21 the results came back as 28.5. which is apparently normal ?!

I think I will give the kits a break apart from costing a fortune they don't seem to be doing much else.

What is charting your basal temperature all about. I have seen you guys discussing it on here. But being new I am finding it difficult with all the abbreviations.

nh101 · 14/09/2007 10:19

Hi Sunshyne, welcome! I am new to temping too but have found it absolutely brilliant, this is my first month - and I know what you mean about DH performing!

Use fertilityfriend to chart your temps - it is very good (www.fertilityfriend.com). I got another high temp today and the chart says I ovulated on Sunday on day 14! Even though my temp went down on Tuesday it still reckons I OV'd Sunday. And we BD'd four days before, the day before and on the day of OV - so it says my intercourse timing rate is "high"

Fingers crossed!

Hi all,

Welcome Sunshyne - Sorry to hear about your miscarriages, 1 I'm sure is awful enough but 5 thats lots of suffering for two people to be put through . I hope you get that BFP soon and welcome to the thread.

Ready - I may have been more hopeful if the dip happened further on but I think its too early to be a good sign, I still think that I ovulated on CD17 and temp is back up today so may have just been a stray temp. How are you doing anyway? Lots of bding I hope

Nappy - Sorry to hear that you were tearful yesterday I hope you feeling better today. These hormones of ours put us through a lot don't they.

Hi, to everyone else

NappyValley · 14/09/2007 08:36

Good questions Ready.

Welcome Sunshyne what an excellent name we need some sun round here some months.

I think the only way with OPKs is to simply use them as a guide and only ever do 1 per day at the same time each day. You should catch the LH surge that was, but no necessarily, and if not that is OK. My consultant was very anti OPKs as they are soo expensive and the cheap ones I have been using do not seem to work so well. HOWEVER if you chart for a couple of months you should be able to see if you have a biphasic chart - which is the posh way of saying your temp is lower at the start of your cycle and then jumps up after (24 - 48hr) ovulation. That will confirm ovulation. Obviously it cannot tell you WHEN you ovulated until it is too late but after a few months you start to see the pattern and most of us (I think) use it is a sign to stand down the attack and let the hubby have a rest!!! get onto fertilityfriend.com grab yourself a BBT Thermometer from Boots and come join the Temp Bud Party!

This is a thread where discussions from what colour to paint a kitchen to what sort of cervical mucus we have occur often in the same sentance. oh and we all seek sightings on the mysterious Pregnancy Panda.

You have been warned

Oh and for the rest of you I forgot to temp AGAIN, but have to confess that I was extremely hormonal yesterday and very teary. Possible side effect of someone poking and washing my ovaries????

Ready · 13/09/2007 23:29

Sunshyne - Welcome to the thread. Very sorry to hear about your miscarriages. 5 is tough going.
Have you tried charting your basal temperature before? I haven't got masses of experience with OPKs but the month I did use them I was so stressed my eggs did a runner, and my ovulation was delayed until CD19 - I have read that lots of people don't get on with them, so I would perhaps suggest you have a break from them, as they don't seem to be helping?
When you had your progesterone test, what was the figure? And was it on CD21? How long are your cycles normally? Are they fairly regular in length?
I hope I haven't scared you off with all my questions Just trying to see how best to advise. Good luck

NappyValley · 13/09/2007 20:34

Hi all. Forgot to temp AGAIN!!!
Sorry Rah and Duchese back to the top again.

Ready The HyCoSy does not have any dye and no x-rays. It only took about 15 minutes to do. It is a kind of sugary water that they use. Bruising was fine today, although slight spotting. Apparently according to the gyne HyCoSy is the more modern way of doing it, but I think HSG and HyCoSy determine the same thing. more info on comparing the two

Rah so sorry you are going to have to wait that long. Our consultant also does private work, so he basically said we could switch. Maybe it is not too late for you to investigate that without having to go back to square one. Just a thought. Feel for you and I do realise how incredibly lucky we were to get the HyCoSy so quickly!

Sunshyne · 13/09/2007 20:28

Wow you guys know loads about this. I am such a beginner. I will tell you all a little about me, as I dont know how to sort my profile out. I am 40 years old (although I sue as hell don't feel it) I have had 5 miscarriages all around 5- 6 week period. Never seemed to have any probs conceiving which I knew was a blessing but now it seems impossible. I do my ovulations tests 3 times a day from day 7 until day 18 but nothing. I have had the 21 day progretrone test and apparently I am still ovulating, just haven't got a clue when Then there is the pressure for hubby re performing to order. It's one thing after another. any thoughts guys ??

Rah - I am so gutted for you, sweets. I really am. Sigh. Plenty of chocolate and crap tv are the order of the day I think! Thinking of you petal!

Minxi - Pleased to hear that your tubes where patent and that the procedure went ok for you. I hope that my description helped you relax a bit. Although anything like that is nerve-racking!! Did you ask about continuing to try this cycle by any chance??

Gracie - Not that I am one to condone getting hopes up, but temp dips after ovulation can be a sign of implantation can't they?? Fingers crossed

Duchesse - It's lovely to see you, we've been wondering where you had got to. Obviously we wish that we were hearing all about your BFP. Hope that you are ok? Have you had fun whilst away?

nh101 - I would say, try not to focus too much on your daily temps - once you have a chart to look at it might make more sense? How long have you been temping?

nappyValley - Pleased that the HyCoSy went well, apart from the bruising of course. I had read that it was different to the HSG. So there is no dye involved with this procedure?? I wonder why some places do one, and not the other?? It would be interesting to know what different things can be seen etc.

How are you Rattling?? Any symptoms of note?? Fingers crossed

I've taken ZamMummy off the list, I hope that's ok?? But you are an official graduate now

Well who knows what is happening with my cycle, had huge dip at 4dpo this morning I'm sure I had ovulated and haven't been bding for last 3 days either so this cycle may be a complete washout but will have to wait and see tomorrow.

Hi to everybody

RahRah1 · 13/09/2007 10:24

HI All

Nappy - so glad procedure went well. I will be undergoing follicle tracking with IUI, so we might be doing that at the same time. (we can compare notes)

Not sure if I told you all but telephoned the clinic this week and my treatment has been put back to Jan 08, as the waiting list has become longer. I'm less than impressed! Wish I had just gone private to start with, as the way things are going I think that might be the best option. Maybe then someone might speak to me like a human being. Its a bit of a shame if that is the case just because they are getting money for it!

Duchesse, sorry to hear you are on a new cycle. Same for me I'm afraid, CD1 work up very early this morning and started. GREAT BLOODY start to the day!

Hi to everyone else.

Hope all is well and catch you all later. Xx

OP posts:
duchesse · 12/09/2007 23:29

Hi all. Just passing through. Am sadly not on day 36 of cycle 48, but day 6 of cycle 49 (to the tune of "Another one bites the dust"), but the period was weird, lighter than usual and lasting only a couple of days, and I confess to having hoped for a repeat of the pregnancy that ended in miscarriage last year (apart from the actual miscarriage bit), that also started with a period. Not to be, alas, as all symptoms previously present have now slacked off.

But no.

Hope all of you ladies who are undergoing procedures are all as comfortable now as can be expected.

nh101 · 12/09/2007 13:13

Sorry about the bad appts with the consultants - just demand demand demand!!! It's the only way.

My temp went back up today (the highest it has been all month - 36.89 from 36.6ish) so maybe I have OVd after all. Here's hoping!
