TTC after miscarriage - February 2020

Hi to anyone reading 👋🏻

This is a thread for anyone TTC / testing in February, after a miscarriage.

I’ll start off with intros! I’m 37 and my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 5 1/2 weeks in December. I TTC straight afterwards, but AF found me, so here I still am on this crazy, frustrating, rollercoaster of a journey!

I joined the January thread after my miscarriage and it’s been amazing to go there and chat to other women who know how you feel.

So for anyone joining this, I’m so so sorry you find yourself here, but you’re in good company ❤️

@seaduck assuming I have obvious signs if ovulation I will wait 14 days after when I think I've ovulated and add a week to that

Michette · 27/01/2020 14:26

@Anny27 i am on CD7 so will be testing near your date too... assuming i ovulate like normal on CD15

I just had a colleague tell me it took them three attempt to get their twins after a MC.

So i am hopeful!

seaduck · 27/01/2020 14:21

Ladies who are hoping to conceive on their first cycle, when are you planning to test? They said expect period 4-6 weeks after the mc but not sure if I have the nerve to wait the 6 whole weeks!
Just tested negative for first time since the mc so at least I know any positives will be real x

Annie0425 · 27/01/2020 12:55

@TerribleImagination @SweetpeaOrMarigold @Moominmiss
Yes cycles can vary quiet a lot after MC. I was told to expect period between 4-6 weeks after my ERPC. My cycles are usually around 34/35 days and I ovulate around CD20-21. This time I got a positive opk on CD26 (Cd1 - day of ERPC) and AF came yesterday right at 2 weeks after the positive opk & around 5.5 weeks after the ERPC. We haven’t ttc’d this month but will start now!
Regarding telling people, last time we told only my mom, MIL & SIL. But when I had the MC I told a few of my close friends and they were very supportive. I’ll probably do the same- not tell any friends early if I get pregnant again. Not sure about family though. I might just keep the news to ourselves until 12 weeks purely because I don’t want to give them any false hopes incase things go wrong again. But not sure what I’ll do when it actually happens. Might end up telling my mom as it’ll be difficult to hide from her!
@Anny27 I am CD2 too, but will probably test after AF is due so may be 29th Feb! Happy ttc’ing everyone 😊

TerribleImagination · 27/01/2020 12:46

Oh yeah after the miscarriage we told family what had happened. Makes it a bit odd now that they know we’re trying, but I’m glad we told them. They were all amazing and supportive.

After I got past the point in the previous miscarriage (so around 6 weeks) we told our mums and my sibling. I hadn't told work but then I had to because it was so close to the previous miscarriage and I had to have some time off for the surgery etc.

I'm not sure if I'll ever feel safe in a future pregnancy (if I have one) I can't imagine telling anyone before 20 weeks.

I'm not sure I'll be testing this month. The spotting has finally turned brown so am hopeful I'll be back in the game at the end of the week and that will bring us up to the two weeks I had to abstain. My DH and I would l like to resume relations for our own sake as much as anything. But from next week I will be doing things to promote a good lining so if we do catch the first egg we give it the best chance but my DH is going to be away in a few weeks for a week. That'll probably be when I ovulate...

Anny27 · 27/01/2020 12:09

Thanks @Michette it's so all consuming isnt it!

Yep the January thread was dry on the bfp front!!!

Is anyone due to test soon? I am cd2 so probably will be testing around 24th February

@sweetpeaormarigold I practically told everyone I know haha! I wanted them to know that our little one existed and also loads of people were asking when we were ttc so I wanted them to stop asking :p

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 27/01/2020 11:57

I told some friends but not my family that I had a MC. I don't want my mum to worry, but once I am pregnant for at least 8 weeks I will tell her about both pregnancies I think

Happythecrocodile · 27/01/2020 10:45

@seaduck I’m the same, I’m finding focusing on ttc a good distraction from mc. I’m trying not to put too much pressure on this month though as I’ve no idea what my cycle is doing, although I’m CD13 if taking first day of mc as CD1.

However I just had a call from the hospital trying to arrange my booking appt and that has set me right off again Sad

@TerribleImagination @SweetpeaOrMarigold I have been thinking about this actually the last couple of days. Me and DH hadn’t told anyone yet, I was due to see my family when I’d have been 6+1 so was planning to tell them then, I even bought a ‘big bro’ t shirt for my toddler to wear as a way of telling them Blush so when mc started 3 days before I didn’t say anything as I was waiting for blood test to confirm. Now it’s confirmed it feels odd to tell them that I was pregnant and now I’m not? I have a couple of friends who I know have had mc who I’ve considered telling but I don’t know whether that’s a bit unfair on them. I’m just not sure whether talking to anyone will make me feel better, or just make us both feel worse?!

Michette · 27/01/2020 10:39

@Anny27 hello and sorry to hear about you AF...
I also thought to take a step back but i want it so badly i can’t Confused

Hope February will bring us more BFP than the january thread !!!

Xx

Moominmiss · 27/01/2020 10:12

Oh and last time I told my dad, brother and best friend. All people I knew would support me should the worst happen.
When it did they were all amazing. My brother and his wife (who’s also pregnant, we’d have been 3 days apart), looked after my children when I had to go into hospital. So if I fell pregnant again I’d tell the same people. It would be so hard to go through the same again but have to keep it all in. X

Moominmiss · 27/01/2020 10:10

I’m cd27 since mc occurred.
No signs of af, no real pg signs either though tbh. Other than nausea. But if I was feeling sick from pregnancy then I’d have enough hcg to get a bfp, and all I’m getting is bfn’s. Apart from a bit of ewcm on cd13 I have no clue when or if I actually ovulated.
I just want my cycles to get back to some form of normality. The unknown is such a horrible thing.

TerribleImagination · 27/01/2020 09:46

@SweetpeaOrMarigold I personally always told myself, even before the miscarriage, that I’d tell anyone who I’d want support from if the worst happened. I told my 3 closest friends when I was pregnant, 2 of which live very close to me, and I needed them so much when I miscarried. Personally I was so glad that they already knew, so I didn’t have to tell them I’d been pregnant and wasn’t any more, if that makes sense. It’s a very personal thing though, some people might not want to tell anyone, it all depends on what you want to do ❤️

You lot are amazing. We all have our own sad story to tell and support each other brilliantly. Thanks everyone for being wonderful and welcome to our new ladies, I'm so sorry to find you here, but its a good place to talk.
Ps that poem made me cry and I thought I was 'over it'.
I'm now cd25 from my MC with no AF since. No idea if or when I ovulated or how long this cycle would have been. I have lots of symptoms and no line. Doubting myself so much but I can't even wear a bra now, my boobs are so sore, so I MUST be pregnant surely? And then when I get that line I will feel so mixed. Happy but terrified. Do I tell people this time so I have support if it happens again? No idea.

shhhhs · 27/01/2020 08:30

@terribleimagine exciting!! 🤞 I still have no idea where I stand with ovulation, very frustrating, always waiting for something with all this TTC malarkey! Xx

TerribleImagination · 27/01/2020 08:13

@shhhhs Yeah you’re so right, it makes sense for things to take a while to go back to normal. I think I sometimes forget just how much our bodies go through with a miscarriage! I got a flashing smiley this morning... finally! Yeay! So at least things are going in the right direction now 🙂

Hi everyone, and so sorry to all of you that have experienced or currently going through a loss.
Little bit of my story...I’m 37 and have 3 children (9, 7, 5).
No longer with their dad but have been with my current partner for 2 years. I came off the pill at the start of September 2019 and we started ttc.
I don’t chart or temp etc. We just dtd when we want (which is a lot anyway).
I got my bfp on 25th November 2019 and we were over the moon.
Unfortunately on 18th December I started lightly bleeding. Had multiple scans where there was a visible pregnancy and over the course of the following 2 weeks it even had significant growth. But no heartbeat ever became visible. Finally on 1st January I miscarried naturally at home suffering the most horrendous contraction like pains for 3 hours before passing the pregnancy.
My bleeding had stopped completely by the very next day.
My doctor had said we could begin ttc as soon as I felt ready.
So we did. We’ve been dtd as normal ever since. But in all honesty probably not enough this month.
I’ve no idea when af is due, I’ve no idea if or when I ovulated (the only thing I noticed was some ewcm on 13th).
I’ve tested the last 2 days, and today and all bfn so confident I’m out this time.
Just need af to show so I can start my next cycle and ttc properly. I feel slightly nauseous but think I may be coming down with something.
Sending hugs and lots of luck to all of you xx

Michette · 26/01/2020 17:43

@BS9790 they examined me and the pain just going near was excruciating and i had this throbbing sharp pain on one side that was keeping me awake Also had discharge in addition to MC blood that smelled like death and i am not exaggerating... horrible.

They also did a blood test and they was obviously an inflammation/infection...

Other people are right though you should push and say you know something is not right

The antibiotics and pain killer saved me honestly do i hope they give it to you too

BS9790 · 26/01/2020 15:26

@ELM7 she basically just said if there was no "unusual discharge" then I didn't have an infection anywhere. But hasn't a clue what it is Confused. The pains started about 9 days after my MC bleeding ended and are still there 2 weeks later.
Get various blood results back tomorrow, so if they come back negative I will push for a swab to be done!

ELM7 · 26/01/2020 14:23

Hi ladies joining you in here as Jan was t my month unfortunately. Hope Feb is the month for us all.

@BS9790 I had an infection after MC and they did a swab to diagnose it. Keep
pushing with Drs if you feel something isn’t right.

Southy84 · 26/01/2020 14:16

Sorry I went quiet for a few days. Thanks to everyone who offered advice. I ended up back in hospital and a scan confirmed that I had retained products following miscarriage and the d&c, it’s finally easing now. They had to do medical management, so I don’t think I’ll be ready to ttc for a while, but I will stick around to cheer you all on though x

BS9790 · 26/01/2020 13:42

@Michette, how did you diagnose an infection after MC? I'm sure I have one, but gp doesn't seem to be taking me seriously Hmm
I've had 2 weeks of my lower abdomen/pelvic area feeling sore deep inside. It's sore when I move and DTD was sore, so much we haven't done it for 2 weeks as it put me off 😬
UTI has been ruled out.... Not sure what to think!

shhhhs · 26/01/2020 12:33

@terribleimagination so many websites say it takes a few cycles for things to return to as they were before, frustrating but maybe your cycle will be a little longer for a month of two. Hope ovulation happens soon for you 🤞

Anny27 · 26/01/2020 11:39

Hey ladies :) I was on the Januaty thread but AF arrived for me this morning 🙄🙄

Going to take a bit of a step back this month from MN, OPKs, temping etc.etc but I will still pop in occasionally throughout the month so wanted to mark my place on the thread :)

TerribleImagination · 26/01/2020 11:12

So I’m back on the Clearblue advanced this cycle (first full cycle since miscarriage) and I’m CD12 today and STILL the blank circle!! I’ve got EWCM and I’ve never had blank circles at this stage when using them before... I did start CD8 this time, instead of CD7 like I usually do, but I was expected the flashing smiley by now! Last time I used them (when we conceived) I got my static smiley CD12! Very confusing... Has anyone else had lots of days of the blank circle??!

I’ve been cracking on DTD every other day since CD8 anyway, but just confused!
