TTC after miscarriage - February 2020

Hi to anyone reading 👋🏻

This is a thread for anyone TTC / testing in February, after a miscarriage.

I’ll start off with intros! I’m 37 and my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 5 1/2 weeks in December. I TTC straight afterwards, but AF found me, so here I still am on this crazy, frustrating, rollercoaster of a journey!

I joined the January thread after my miscarriage and it’s been amazing to go there and chat to other women who know how you feel.

So for anyone joining this, I’m so so sorry you find yourself here, but you’re in good company ❤️

@moominmiss I can definitely see lines on all of these, and I can never see the lines on these when people post them normally 🤦 why don't you try a FRER?

Moominmiss · 29/01/2020 16:50

Hey, can anyone see the EXTREMELY faint lines I can on these? The top one definitely has some colour to it. My partner can see them too but they are incredibly incredibly faint. I very nearly binned them.
I don’t know how to invert a photo or anything. I tried using the photo editor on my iPhone and in some I could get the lines to look slightly darker.
Whatever it is I can see all came up within the time limit. But it’s so unbelievably barely there I’m very unconvinced.
I’m cd29 going from the mc and tested negative by cd9. I just think maybe my eyes are seeing what they want to see, or that somehow I have have them tiniest traces golf hcg left over and the bfn I had previously was not really a proper bfn but maybe just super super faint.
I’ve no idea if I’ve ovulated, I noticed ewcm on cd13 but zero other symptoms. I’ve no idea when af is due. But tbh we’ve not actually dtd all that much this month, only on cd’s 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 17, 21, and 25.
But I would think that had ovulation happened around 13th ish, that I’d be showing a darker positive test if I was pregnant as implantation would have happened by now.
Ugh, I hate that my body isn’t back to normal and I don’t know what to expect from it at the moment 😩

@Sausage1990 Welcome! Although I’m so sorry you find yourself here 😢

RE cycles after miscarriage, yep mine have been odd! I lost pregnancy symptoms overnight the day I started bleeding from the miscarriage, and then some came back, which was weird. The last thing to go was the metallic taste, I think that was about a week after. I did find some popped up again, but the same ones I can often get just from progesterone before AF. The weirdest one is I get quite bad bloating and water retention leading up to AF and that was also bad in pregnancy. It went away after the miscarriage when I took water tablets, but then it came back with a vengeance and hasn’t left since! So I’ve spent a good few weeks looking pregnant (it gets that bad), which isn’t ideal!

Cycles wise I’m on my first full cycle since the miscarriage and I have no idea when I’ll ovulate, even though I’m using Clearblue OPK’s! I had days of the blank circle, even when I had EWCM and now I’m on day 3 of flashing smiley, although I had the signs yesterday of imminent ovulation that has always tied in with the peak result (loads of EWCM!) but nope, still that bloody flashing smiley. So I’m wondering if I missed my surge or if I’m going to ovulate later?! No idea... I think a lot of people cycles go a bit mad post miscarriage.

Welcome to the safe space ladies, sorry you are here xx
Wondering about my thyroid now. Mine has been borderline for years and I've had a repeat test form sitting in the kitchen drawer for a year. Maybe I should go.
Its cd 27 today and still bfn with proper AF cramps. My boobs are still big but not hard and not agony anymore. Not sure which way this will go.
Will try again tomorrow. FRER are making a fortune out of me.

Sausage1990 · 29/01/2020 08:22

Thank you @Michette that's really helpful to know xx

Bath2020 · 29/01/2020 07:16

Thank so much @seaduck thats good to hear! I have no other children so it was my first pregnancy. My endocrinologist said the thyroid levels were fine at the time I got pregnant but Increased my dose by 25mg On 3 days of the week . I only got to 7.5 weeks so not sure if it was anything to do with thyroid as hadn’t had my thyroid bloods rechecked at that stage. Was due to do that at week 10. Wellllll it’s good to know you got two lovely babies even with thyroid issues! That’s brill!

Thanks @Michette yes tbh I am relieved. I was 3 weeks wondering “is today the day” that I’ll actually properly start the process of miscarriage and that was absolutely shit so glad the physical is finished but emotionally it’s hard. I’m also so f@*#ing impatient that the thought of waiting for AF is just a pain in my arse and mind.

My place is like an apothecary with the evening primrose, co q 10, royal jelly (acupuncturist says take these), pregnacare! If anyone walks in they will think I’ve straight up lost the actual run of myself Hmm

Michette · 28/01/2020 23:02

@Leok83 thanks!! Used the all and said low 3 today. This will be super helpful...

@bath2020 hello and sorry to see you here 👋 hope you are ok x

@Sausage1990 my early pregnancy symptoms hanged around most of the 4 weeks after MC just now after first periods my boobs have returned back to pre pregnancy form...

Sausage1990 · 28/01/2020 21:24

Hi ladies & @TerribleImagination - can I join?

Me and DH decided to TTC in December and caught 1st time, however unfortunately I had a chemical / early loss at 5+1 earlier this month. I had a light positive 30th December but the tests got lighter and I had a BFN on the 5th Jan and af arrived 6th Jan... It was like a normal af for 5 days, maybe a bit heavier the 1st few days but otherwise the same as a normal.

We're keen to TTC straight away however I'm cd23 and still no sign of ovulation. I'm quite in tune with my cycles and I've had no cm changes that suggest ovulation is anywhere near and I've been using opk twice a day (for the 1st time) this month and so far no second line.

I don't know if this is just my cycles messed up since the cp? I feel frustrated with my body atm...

Also - quite a few of the early pregnancy symptoms I experienced are still hanging around... Headaches, cramps, lower back ache, some nausea on an off, some boob tenderness, and mostly this overwhelming fatigue. Anyone else experience this? It's been 3 weeks so I thought they'd be gone by now... Or is it all in my head?

Sorry its a long post. So pleased this thread exists because I've not been able to find any reassurance anywhere so far.

Hope you're all ok, and that February is our month 👍🏻🤞🏻

seaduck · 28/01/2020 20:56

Hi @Bath2020 - Sorry you're here, hope you are feeling okay now that the physical side is over.
I have an underactive thyroid also, which I take levothyroxine for. I found 2 days before my mc my dose was too low and I do wonder whether this played a part in my mc, I've spent a lot a time thinking about that specifically and wishing I'd gone to get it checked earlier but will never know now.
I have 2 children already and my thyroid was managed successfully through those pregnancies, so I know it can be done.

Good luck! Smile

Bath2020 · 28/01/2020 20:23

Hi ladies. I was on the jan thread too as had a mmc that started 28 December and needed the support which was fantastic here. Anyway natural MC didn’t happen for me and I was made wait for admin reasons but had an erpc finally on 24 jan. I have light bleeding now but jez I don’t know how I’m going to keep my head until I get AF! I have an under active thyroid as well which i manage with medication. My midwife/consultant said to wait for one cycle and try again but my GP said to fire away and get on with it when I feel up to it that the wait is purely for dating reasons. To each their own but that’s the conflicting advice I’ve gotten...Anyway I just want to get on the thread again for easy access and to wish everyone the best for this month xx

Leok83 · 28/01/2020 19:40

@Michette have you tried uploading the opk sticks on the premom or the Femometer app? It marks them for you and makes it way easier to find your peak!
It’s still quite light looking to me but I know in the past I had creamy CM (very glamorous this TTC) at same time as my opk started to turn from no line to light line and the next day changed to EWCM so keep an eye on it!
Also some people it seems have a longer build up of LH rising until peak. Once I got the line I did those opks twice a day to make sure I caught my peak.

For me looks like I’m in for a longer slog than I hoped 😢. HCG results today from yesterday’s blood still at 200 so have to go back next week to recheck. Feeling pretty upset and frustrated about it today, I just wanted it all to be over so much. It’s 3 weeks tomorrow so didn’t expect this.

Michette · 28/01/2020 14:57

To the ladies doing opks?
What does yours look like after period?

Currently on CD8 and having a lot of creamy white CM (sorry for TMI)

Never really tracked CM before so wondering if it’s normal?

Today’s opk attached

seaduck · 28/01/2020 11:49

@SweetpeaOrMarigold I hope you have some news soon, I can see a shadow there.
@Happythecrocodile I'm the same, I'm pretty good at not testing early, and waiting for the date my period is due too so not having a date to focus on for a test is a bit frustrating. I may be ovulating this week so probably mid Feb too. I dont use OPKs either and my body doesnt seem to give me clues so thats all based on dates guesswork.

Happythecrocodile · 28/01/2020 09:52

I think if we’d told family we were pregnant they’d have been really supportive about mc but given that we hadn’t even told anyone yet I’m unsure about saying anything now. DH doesn’t want to tell his family but said it’s up to me if I think I’ll feel better to talk about it with mine. To start with I wanted to tell family/ close friends but now I feel like I need to try to move on and focus on the future. Maybe I’ll tell them later down the line.

@seaduck I’m first cycle after mc too and 6 weeks feels like forever! Do you have any idea when you’re ovulating? I don’t use OPK but think I might be ovulating this week so will maybe test in 2ish weeks if no sign of AF, so mid Feb which would be a month after mc. I’m not a fan of testing early though as I find it stressful, I prefer to wait until AF is due/ late.

🤞 for you @SweetpeaOrMarigold !

kkr168 · 28/01/2020 07:27

Looks like I'm joining you all in the February thread, 12dpo, just got bfn on a frer.
Still no signs of AF coming anytime soon!
AF should have arrived Friday just gone but then this is my 1st since MC, so things clearly aren't back to normal.
I'm going to start using ovulation tests again just incase I ovulate again.

DisneyMummySince2010 · 27/01/2020 21:57

@SweetpeaOrMarigold looks like a potential line to me! Very exciting 🤞

Anny27 · 27/01/2020 20:48

Yesterday was a down day for me being cycle day 1 but today I am happier and ready for next cycle! Going to be ovulating the weekend that we are away (hopefully if ovulation is as normal) so that's good timing:D

@sparkl 100% early testing gave me so much stress. The morning I was going to test I had 0 sleep the night before. It was not good for my mental health last month so be so obsessed with it!

@SweetpeaOrMarigold I can see a faint shadow!

@Annie0425 another annie:D cycle buddies! I usually ovulate between 14-17 but after miscarriage who knows if my cycle will continue to be regular so I will be waiting a while to test I think too.

@Michette ahh that gives me hope hearing of your colleagues pregnancy after miscarriage:):)

Sparkl · 27/01/2020 20:37

Hi @babysunshine 👋 sorry I wasn’t checking in and missed your message. I know what you mean about how strange it seems that your body is so affected by it but I suppose it’s a big shift for hormones to start a pregnancy at all.

Sorry to those who have moved over from January thread, fingers crossed for Feb

Have to say I think the early testing after a MC really adds unnecessary stress. I was so sure that I would get a positive having taken one cycle off. Luckily didn’t have to test as AF came on time. And even now on cycle 4 I can see what a big impact the MC has had on my cycle. We were all hopeful for positives over on the Jan thread but need to be realistic as well. I don’t know if I will manage it but I’m going to try and wait as long as possible to test, hopefully a few days longer than my longest cycle

shhhhs · 27/01/2020 18:43

@toomanyleggings (great name btw 😂) I have found the same with you regarding OKP, im not sure how much they can be trusted in the first cycle following MC as it's hard to know when HCG turns into ovulation hormones. So frustrating.

toomanyleggings · 27/01/2020 18:32

Hi everyone just trying to catch up. Had a very faint line on a cheapie pregnancy test last week but didn't know if it was residual from the
Mmc. Seems to be negative again now and I've been doing clear blue digital tests for a week and half. Had a solid smiley on the 16th but then decided it must have been hcg related so threw the kit out and started again with a new kit. Have now had flashing smileys for days. I don't think I've ovulated at all yet and today blood tinged cervical mucus so I'm thinking af is on the way :( have a private appointment with a doctor tonight. Not sure what the point of going is really.

Solomon1212 · 27/01/2020 17:57

Ive had two chemicals nov and dec. So this month i have given myself off (well kind of) in the hopes a little break will work. I was getting far to upset and stressed.
I kind of came to the conclusion i was putting far to much pressure on myself and if it happens it happens. Fingers crossed for you ladies x

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 27/01/2020 16:38

Finger crossed everything moves forwsrd quickly for you, so you can start looking more at the future @leok83
Its 10mlU so hopeful! Debating to give it another day 🙃

Leok83 · 27/01/2020 16:15

@SweetpeaOrMarigold I can see the faint line but it’s really faint so could still be an evap..how sensitive is that test? Def try a FRER..I really hope it is a BFP!! As far as telling ppl goes I def found that having told ppl made it easier to then tell them about MC and being able to talk about it to people who can give support I find has been so good for me to heal emotionally. We just told very close family and I told work (I’d be close to my coworkers anyways). I think if I get another BFP I’ll probably tell the same people again.
I’m currently CD20, still HPT positive (def getting lighter though). Got my bloods checked today and will get results tomorrow. Also GP is organising an ultrasound in next couple weeks to check on the fibroid I have. Really want to just TTC again and all this waiting is so difficult. No signs I’m near ovulation yet so I’m guessing HCG stalling it all still. DTD unprotected yesterday even though I said I wouldn’t until HPT was negative but def don’t think it’ll make a difference if I have no signs of ovulation yet.

shhhhs · 27/01/2020 15:32

We told quite a few people, I was nieve to think that because the first pregnancy was fine this one would be too. But actually, I wouldn't do it any differently. We've had so much support which has been lovely. I think I would have found it so hard with everyone carrying on like normal without realising the crap we were going through. In regards to pregnancy testing, I want to leave it as late as possible as would be so nice to test and be more than a week along! Although I know there's no way I'll be able to wait so will probably test 5 weeks after MC if AF hasn't arrived. I got a post MC negative last week (nice that it happened so quickly I guess) but OPK have been all over the place, so no idea when the actual right time is. Day 17 now though so DTD a lot! 😂 I can't wait for someone to post saying they have had a BFP, will be so exciting and give a little hope ❤️

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 27/01/2020 15:07

Can you see it? Ok I'm going back on what I said and doing a frer in the morning!
