TTC after miscarriage - February 2020

Hi to anyone reading 👋🏻

This is a thread for anyone TTC / testing in February, after a miscarriage.

I’ll start off with intros! I’m 37 and my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 5 1/2 weeks in December. I TTC straight afterwards, but AF found me, so here I still am on this crazy, frustrating, rollercoaster of a journey!

I joined the January thread after my miscarriage and it’s been amazing to go there and chat to other women who know how you feel.

So for anyone joining this, I’m so so sorry you find yourself here, but you’re in good company ❤️

@Moominmiss doesn't sound like that could be residual HCG if the lines are getting darker, fingers crossed for more strong lines for you, it's looking good 🤞

RR369 · 31/01/2020 19:35

Hi @BS9790 I use CB digital and test morning and late afternoon/evening once I get the flashing smiley. It costs more every month but apparently you're more likely to have LH peak later in the day and if it's a short surge, you could miss it by only testing with FMU. Some people use CB in the morning and ICs in the afternoon as it's a lot cheaper. Most of my peaks have been on late afternoon tests and both of my pregnancies were as a result of DTD the night of an evening test showing peak static smiley 😊 hope that all makes sense x

BS9790 · 31/01/2020 19:22

Anyone who has used the clear blue digital ovulation tests....
I'm using them for the first time and this morning I got a flashing smiley. Do I now need to test more than once a day, or is once a day still fine? It says on the instructions, you can test more than once a day once you've got a flashy... Do I need to?!
X

LITTLEPICKLES88 · 31/01/2020 18:22

@moominmiss haha I bet they are 🤣 xx

Moominmiss · 31/01/2020 18:18

@LITTLEPICKLES88 yeah it’s funny how most people get stronger lines with fmu but that’s never been the case with any of my tests in any of my pregnancies.

No, I’ve not got any frer’s. I just have tons of the cheap dip tests from eBay lol.

And obviously I now have the digis that I feel like are calling to me 🙈🙉

LITTLEPICKLES88 · 31/01/2020 18:12

@moominmiss haha exactly the same as me, yes I find mine are stronger in the eve too with the line tests anyway! Have you tried a first response? Xx

Moominmiss · 31/01/2020 18:04

@LITTLEPICKLES88 thank you!!
It’s so so hard to hold out and wait!
I think what I’m going to try and do is do another one of my cheap tests in the morning (although my tests have always seemed stronger in the afternoon/evening). Then if still positive as dark or darker, I’ll attempt one if the digis.

I’ll probably end up doing another ic before bed tonight too just because, you know, poas addict 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😂

LITTLEPICKLES88 · 31/01/2020 17:44

@moominmiss I did an eBay cheapie Wednesday and it was a very faint positive lighter than you one! My husband wasn't convinced! Then yesterday I did a Tesco digital and it said not pregnant, I was gutted, but I had one first response so before I went to bed I did it since I had nothing to loose, that was my bfp strong two lines! Then I did a clear blue digital this morning and it said the 1-2 weeks. Then simply because I'm obsessed I did an Asda one and Superdrug and another first response throughout the day all positive 🤣 so from the faint line weds 2 days later I did the clear blue digital although I recon it would have shown up next day x

@shhhhs my partner has just come home with a 2 pack of digis for me but I’m petrified it’s too early, or that it’s not a new pregnancy.
It will take every scrap of willpower I have not to touch them 🙈

Moominmiss · 31/01/2020 17:37

@LITTLEPICKLES88 did you do any other tests before you got you 1-2 weeks bfp on the digi?

I’m just wondering how long to wait to do a digi test. I don’t want to waste them lol.

If you did other tests first did you wait until til they fairly dark before doing the digi?

X

shhhhs · 31/01/2020 17:37

@moominmiss good plan 😊 you're far more patient than me, I'd have to do one asap! Keep us updated, I have everything crossed for you 🤞

Moominmiss · 31/01/2020 17:21

@shhhhs the one today is definitely darker than the ones I took a couple days ago. I’ve asked my partner to pick up a couple of digi’s with the weeks indicator while he’s out so I can maybe do one next week and bother them week after if still no af, and hopefully I’ll have an answer without having to bother my gp. X

shhhhs · 31/01/2020 17:15

@moominmiss I think it sounds very positive if you've had a negative after just a week post MC and now getting these results. I dont think the one you took today even looks that faint! 😁😁👍

Moominmiss · 31/01/2020 17:11

@shhhhs yeah the EPU told me to test 1 week and 2 weeks post miscarriage. So I tested on 9th which was 8 days after and it was bfn.

Now these faint positives have me questioning whether it was a true bfn or not.

I think I will try to refrain from testing until I think a digi might pick it up next week.

X

shhhhs · 31/01/2020 17:03

@moominmiss EPAC told me i should have a negative 3 weeks post MC, which I guess means this is when they expect HCG from miscarriage to be either gone or so low it's undectable. I was told is still positive after 3 weeks would need to be looked into. I'm sure the GP would do a blood test to confirm either way 🤞

Moominmiss · 31/01/2020 16:33

@LITTLEPICKLES88 thank you. I’m just worried it’s picking up residual hcg left in my system.

Massive congrats on your bfp btw!!! That’s amazing.

I think maybe if I haven’t had af by next week I’ll buy a clear blue digi and see what that says xx

LITTLEPICKLES88 · 31/01/2020 16:28

@Moominmiss certainly look like positives to me xx

Moominmiss · 31/01/2020 16:18

Im not sure what to think.
So I mc 1st Jan after 2 weeks of bleeding. Then stopped bleeding the next day. So we were ttc again from 2nd.
Anyway, I tested and bfn on 9th.
No idea of ovulation, or af due date.
I tested a few days ago just because I’m a poas addict. I’ve had zero symptoms, just have plenty of ic tests burning a hole in my drawer 😬

So I will attach 2 photos. The photo with the 3 tests in is from a few days ago. The photo with the single test in is one I took just now when I got in from work.

To me it’s visibly darker (although still what I’d call faint).

But now I’m second guessing the bfn I got after the mc, was it really a bfn or just an extremely faint positive. I’m wondering if this would be left over hcg from the previous pregnancy?

Do I just wait it out and maybe try and do a digital test next week then another a week later and see if it goes up? Do I contact my gp and see if they’ll do blood tests to check if my levels are going up or still coming down? Do I phone EPU?

I really didn’t think I would be. This week I even ended up in hospital for a Bartholin abscess that needed draining and was literally about the be gowned up and taken for a general anaesthetic when it burst on its own, but since then I’ve been on antibiotics and codeine for pain relief. So now panicking that if I am pregnant I’ve been taking medication that I shouldn’t have!
