TTC after miscarriage - February 2020

Hi to anyone reading 👋🏻

This is a thread for anyone TTC / testing in February, after a miscarriage.

I’ll start off with intros! I’m 37 and my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 5 1/2 weeks in December. I TTC straight afterwards, but AF found me, so here I still am on this crazy, frustrating, rollercoaster of a journey!

I joined the January thread after my miscarriage and it’s been amazing to go there and chat to other women who know how you feel.

So for anyone joining this, I’m so so sorry you find yourself here, but you’re in good company ❤️

@Michette pretty much the same here. Feeling so much happier this month than last.
I'm on a work residential Mon-Fri, then we're going away for a week. I'm also away in April, so like you, a few flights coming up. Lots of things to look forward to, trying to have the "whatever will be will be" approach 😂

I will probably do a test on weds 19th, I know its early!

eomjthesmallthings · 09/02/2020 13:38

Thanks for the advice @Leok83! I have tried again today and it is slightly darker ( with two different tests). It would mean that ovulation is later this month but that’s fine as long as it happens. I will try again alter and also to stay away from google @kkr168 as it is literally driving me crazy! Thanks all!

@Leok83 I never realized TTC could make you crazy & over analyse everything Blush I will stay away from Google!

Michette · 09/02/2020 12:57

@bs9790 TWW relaxed this month.
If it doesnt happen it’s ok.
I have a lot of long flights and travelling planned for the next three months so going to relax a bit more about not being pregnant...
I think Grin
I still have some weird ovary feeling today but opk was only high yesterday so pretty i already ovulated.

How about you?
When will you test?

Leok83 · 09/02/2020 12:57

I’ve finally got a flashing smiley on Clearblue CD33 after MC, obviously still need to wait for ovulation and have to get repeat hcg done next Wednesday as HCG was 37 last Wednesday but it has been dropping but I’m so happy everything is finally getting back to normal😊

@eomjthesmallthings sorry for your loss, have you tried the CB opk? It gives you the flashing smileys before peak so you have an idea something is starting to happen as it’s easy to miss peak on the others unless you are doing the opk a couple of times a day. Have you had any colour on the opks you have been using even if not positive? cause the cycle I conceived mine literally peaked at lunch but was not positive but had colour and and pm so would have missed if I hadn’t done lunch. Also I’m the same not being able to DTD every day/other day as hubby works nights some weeks and I do a lot of on call so between the two we just don’t have the time/energy so found the Clearblue opks great for saving our energy for the fertile period!

@kkr168 I would never have thought 11 day follicular phase is too short, try not to worry!!

BS9790 · 09/02/2020 12:32

@Michette, think I ovulated yesterday/last night too. Had a peak on clear blue in the morning, peak on cheap opk in the evening... Then this mornings cheap opk was negative so guessing ovulation has already happened.

How are you feeling entering the TWW?

kkr168 · 09/02/2020 11:22

Should have stayed off google, now worrying I have a short follicular phase after ovulating on cd11!!

kkr168 · 09/02/2020 11:09

I've been using ic opks, on the 6th & 7th I tested around 6.30am, both tests were low. On the 8th I didn't test until 10pm & got peak. We'd been away Friday night & I'd forgotten to pack the opk, which is why I didn't test in the morning, I wasn't going to test at 10pm but thought I may aswell, lucky I did otherwise we'd have missed it. Last month I had a few days of high before the peak, so was not expecting that result, I woke in the night last night with ovulation pains so think I definitely ovulated.
Now the tww begins.......

eomjthesmallthings · 08/02/2020 22:36

Sorry to hear of your losses😢I am also just getting over a miscarriage at 9 weeks in early November. I in my late thirties and was keen to try again soon after but after natural miscarriage didn’t work I needed a d&c and bless for almost three weeks. I feel ready to try again but was all over the place with my cycle and periods. I have had two periods since and have none using ovulation strips this week as I feel (due to using apps) that I should be ovulating. I have bought boots brand packs and a pound land version. None of them have given me a positive result. I’m very confused and afraid we will miss my ovulation period. Has anyone got advice on this? We are TTC this week but we’re both so tired we can’t keep having sex every day/ second day.

Michette · 08/02/2020 21:40

@BS9790 yep.
Ovulated today!!
How is it going?

BS9790 · 08/02/2020 13:13

@Michette I think we are at a similar point in our cycles? X

Ibaadsmummy · 08/02/2020 11:50

Awww ladies thanks for your advice everyone that has miscarried I'm sure you guys all had the same worry will it happen again. I just wana start trying to prove to myself I can do it again. It really frustrating because I had a car accident day before bleeding started was in a black cab and went flying from seat n hit back of drivers wall section wasnt major but had bad bruise on leg and whiplash on shoulders next day then bleeding started also. Docters say it wont have caused miscarriage but I feel it was the culprit. So annoyed at myself.

Kona84 · 08/02/2020 10:00

*hcg

Kona84 · 08/02/2020 10:00

@Ibaadsmummy my miscarriage started on the 21st January, pregnancy tests are still showing faint positive for me today. I did lose the ‘material’ yesterday which was a surprise as I thought i had lost all of it last weekend.
I never knew how slow a miscarriage could be. I am going to start trying again once my HCC is negative so I can accurately test ovulation.
I was advised by the midwife to wait until after I’ve had a period to try again, it gives time for my lining to thicken up and helps with dating.
I wish you all the best on your journey

Michette · 08/02/2020 09:53

@bs9790 yayy!!! 🙂

BS9790 · 08/02/2020 09:32

@TerribleImagination thanks for your reply.

Finally got my static today, after 8 days of flashies. CD17!

Got a really busy fortnight coming up too so hopefully the TWW won't play on my mind so much this time x

Moominmiss · 08/02/2020 08:12

@lbaadsmummy I’m so sorry you’re here too. Unfortunately you may find the the hcg lingers around for a while yet.
Think it can depend on how high your levels were when you miscarried and just generally how your body is with getting rid of it, but I miscarried on January 1st and a hcg year I had done on 4th February was still showing a level of 22 so I was still testing positive. I finally got af yesterday which likely means my levels have dropped to non pregnant (under 5). I did have another hcg test yesterday which will hopefully confirm it.
Like others have said, just be kind to yourself and don’t think about it as anything you did wrong. I have 3 children all of which I had perfectly normal healthy pregnancies with, never experienced a mc until now, unfortunately it’s just so much more common than I ever knew.
There’s no reason why you can’t just carry on as you were when your body is ready, and do whatever it was you did the last time.
Sending hugs x

Ibaadsmummy · 08/02/2020 07:52

Hey hun thanks I know just need to be patient but I'm finding it really hard plus stupid hcg test still showing positive n feeling nauseous sometimes it's like I'm not allowed to forget xxxx hopefully I can get pregnant soon did you manage to have another

RR369 · 08/02/2020 07:17

Hi @Ibaadsmummy I'm so sorry about your miscarriage. I too had a healthy baby and then a miscarriage two years later. The only advice I can give you is to be kind to yourself. This is a very difficult time. You didn't do anything to cause your loss so all you can do next time is follow a generally healthy lifestyle and take your folic acid- apparently it's good for men too! I don't think any of us realised how common miscarriage is until it happened to us. Try to get through this rollercoaster and believe that you will hold your new baby soon xx

TerribleImagination · 07/02/2020 23:43

@BS9790 I’d keep testing! I was the same with clear blue this month, they were doing my head in! I got loads more days of blank circle than usual, then when it moved to flashing I didn’t get a peak on the day I thought I would (based on how I usually get loads of EWCM on peak day) so I was convinced I’d somehow missed the surge! Kept on testing anyway and finally got that bloody static smiley on CD16!

I’d just buy another kit, but get the 20 sticks one, so if you need to use them again next month you’ll have plenty. Fingers crossed you don’t need them again though! 🤞🏻

@bs9790

Aww that's annoying...
Can you test every other day? Or you re gonna miss it?

Ibaadsmummy · 07/02/2020 20:00

Hi I miscarried 30th jan and want to start ttc as soon as i can I stoped bleeding 4 days ago. I had a healthy baby 2 years ago from a normal pregnancy but still the loss this time has been really hard as it was the last thing I was expecting. Sorry if I seem selfish or ungrateful to anyone. I am very grateful for my bubba but really want another one. Anyone had a miscarriage after a normal first pregnancy and then struggled to get another. Any advice what to do to help this time round concieve and keep baby.

BS9790 · 07/02/2020 19:50

@Michette yes, flashing smiley is supposed to be high fertility and static smiley is a surge detected for peak fertility. The kit suggests if you've used for 9 days and no static, then to stop testing.
However... I don't know how long my cycle will be. Pre MC my cycle was 32/33 days, however last month on my first cycle post MC it was only 24 days. So it could just be that I started testing too early and I'm back to a 33 day cycle.
Argh it's all so confusing.
I'm away for a week next week so was really hoping to get a peak before I went!!

Moominmiss · 07/02/2020 19:44

@shhhhs hopefully we can try and keep each other sane!!!

I’m dying to just start ttc again and hope for a happier ending!

🤞🏻 For us, and everyone else here!!
