Has reflexology helped anyone?

Has anyone found a reflexologist in London (preferably west)?

my point, jenkel, without wishing to be nit picking, is that IVF is not guaranteed to work... so who is to say that without the reflexology, it may not have been successful... see? ;)

but, yes, i agree... as with all things, medical or natural, there are no guarantees.

I know that the IVF worked rosies - got pregnant. But I guess the difficulty with reflexology and other complimentary therapies is that there is no way to measure the results. But it was great for relaxation and you need all the relaxation you can get when going through IVF. I would recommend it for anyone to try, but just dont go expecting concrete results.

JuniperDewdrop, I can't recommend reflexology enough. I've had reflexology on and off for years sometimes just to be pampered and also for specifics. Major success:it reduced my bloodpressure and got me off medication and although it is debatable I also believe it started my labour off when 11 days overdue.

as for hyperemesis... funnily enough i saw mention of this today. Hyperemisis is totally a different thing to normal sickness in pregnancy. it is something that may need hospital admission and treatment, as it can be quite serious. whoever has this should certainly consult their GP.

Hi Jenkel - just posted on a nother thread - have been TTc since DD was abpout 6 months (she's over 4 now) as I have PCOS and had to have treatment - usually I am fine (if it's meant to be it wil happen, grateful that I have one etc) but today feeling very down about iT - don't know if it's because I am in the middle of my period. Also my DD has been asking me "when are yoiu going to have another baby mummy? Thanks for replying.

I have had refelxology in the past and when I was going through my IVF treatment I started the refelxology again. Not sure if it worked or not, I got pregnant on my 3rd attempt at IVF and had reflexology treatment all through the treatments. Who knows if it helped me get pregnant but certainly helped me relax and gave me some 'good me time' very important when you have doctors doing unspeakable things to you, lol.

I also had reflexology when I became overdue with dd, but afraid that didnt work either as I had to be induced.

So, jurys out on this one for me

Has anybody had "successful" refexology oin or around St Albans - I have had relexology but there were other issues going on at that time and would prefer to go to somebody else with a "clean slate" (me - not the refexologist) Can anybody recommend anyone? TIA

I had reflexology while on the waiting list for IVF - had been trying for over 3 years. I have to say (being a typical medic) that I was a bit dubious about how it could possibly work but reckoned at least it didn't have any nasty side effects nor involved being poked where the sun don't shine....Conceived 2 weeks after I finished the course! Was gobsmacked and delighted & have recommnded it to several patients since.
BTW, if there are any reflexologists out there, can it be useful for hyperemesis? (not for me thank heavens)

thanks for tip, juniper. i just went and got the article today and its all very positive about reflexology and fertility problems (something i have been trying to say on this forum for ages!).

one thing i didnt like was the client saying that the reflexologist had told her she would be pregnant in 3 months. although she indeed was pregnant, i think claims like this can be misleading... its almost like promising a cure, which of course, we cannot claim to do.

if you were having reflexology before getting pregnant, i'd definitely continue, if all is well. even if you havent had it before, there is no reason not to have it during pregnancy, so long as both you and the therapist feel ok with it.

it does seem to be that women who have regular treatments during pregnancy have better labours and calmer babies.

futurity, as long as your pregnancy is fine, then I would absolutely recommend Reflexology.
I had it from 6 months- day before birth of ds, and believe it helped me have the 'non intervention' birth that I had so desperately wanted (after previous emergency C)

It is a great relaxant, and that has got to be good for baby future too!?

I had reflexology after having trouble to conceive my second child. The lady did pick up issues in my reproductive area so worked on those bits. I had 3 sessions but had to stop having any more as I got pregnant! (am now 20 weeks). So I recommend it even if it is only because it is good for the stress and nice to believe that I was doing something positive towards trying to conceive

I had a reflexology treatment the morning before my iui, got pregnant both times. Very relaxing and would like to think it helped but obviously can't be sure. Can't hurt though!
