Hey! Just looking for some folks in a similar position to start a chat with.

I'm 34 and have been trying for a second child for 6 months. With my first, I didn't realise how lucky we were when we got pregnant in the first cycle with no real trying. I was 30 at the time. Our daughter has just turned 4.

This time, I tried the relaxed approach for a couple of months to start with and then resorted to opks and an app to give some guidance as to when would be a good time to try.

Anyway, after trying for 6 months with no joy, I'm beginning to feel a bit anxious. I can't stop wondering if there's a problem and can't stop googling!!

Please join if you're in a similar position and wanting to chat! X

@SomethingAboutYou yeh i forgot about that, i will try and hold off. for some reason this cycle i am not feeling positive at all.

SomethingAboutYou · 17/02/2020 10:33

@TinkleTwinkle11 sounds reasonable. I drank a lot the weekend before I got my bfp with DS as I'd taken a test and got a bfn so thought I was clear. I stopped altogether after the bfp (went off the stuff anyway) so I guess I'll do the same now.

60sPony · 17/02/2020 10:32

Looking at Ovia should test after 27 Feb if no period. Going to try and hold out. I don’t have any pregnancy tests in the house so that should help I hope

SomethingAboutYou · 17/02/2020 10:28

Stay strong @inahaze I've scared myself into not testing too early after reading loads of threads where people have tested early and got a squinter bfp then af turns up a few days later and they're (understandably) heartbroken.

TinkleTwinkle11 · 17/02/2020 10:26

I don’t drink that often anyway but not cutting down or cutting out unless I get a pregnant test as trying to keep things as normal as possible.

inahaze · 17/02/2020 09:41

I'm 9dpo and I wasn't going to test until the weekend but now I can't resist!

SomethingAboutYou · 17/02/2020 08:31

I haven't been drinking much recently as I'm trying to lose weight but over the weekend I really wanted wine so had a few glasses. I'm 12dpo today and starting to get excited about potential testing but af is never regular so if she's not here wednesday it doesn't really mean much. Gah!

inahaze · 16/02/2020 18:59

I'm only drinking when I have my period.

Half way into 2ww here. Mentally exhausting!

SomethingAboutYou · 16/02/2020 18:24

Alcohol- what do you all do - completely abstain whilst TTC?

LBB2020 · 15/02/2020 08:07

Thank you @Ejb86

Ejb86 · 15/02/2020 07:51

@LBB2020 congratulations!

Mrstakeiteasy · 14/02/2020 08:10

Hi @SomethingAboutYou I've been doing that too, the symptom spotting can drive you crazy! Everything is a symptom when you want it so badly! Fingers crossed for everyone!

SomethingAboutYou · 14/02/2020 07:36

Hi @Mrstakeiteasy 🙋
@Emelene I seem to be ok with heavily pregnant friends at the moment as its their first baby but many of the mums I met with DS are pg and I do get a pang of jealousy when I see them. My colleague is 14 weeks pg and I worry that the longer I go without a BFP the bigger she'll get and the more sad/jealous I'll get of her, which I really don't want to be. 🤞 It happens soon for us all.
Also, 9dpo today and totally convinced myself I'm pg. My mind knows I'm being silly and I can't possibly have symptoms this early but everything is a sign. I had trap wind which caused cramp type pain, realised it was wind then wondered if that must be a sign....wtf?! Blush

Mrstakeiteasy · 13/02/2020 21:33

Hi @inahaze , the emotions are just so overwhelming aren't they. Every time at nursery pick up my heart breaks seeing all the babies and pregnant bumps. My little girl keeps talking about being a sister too, I try not to feel guilty about that! Too many feelings!!! Lots of luck to you this month, hopefully won't be long for us both.

inahaze · 13/02/2020 20:50

Hi @Mrstakeiteasy ! Same here really, small just turned 4 and conceived first month with her.

Wind forward 5 years and I'm with a new partner, second month TTC. I'm 37

I cry pretty much every time someone tells me they are pregnant.... just the way it is

LBB2020 · 13/02/2020 20:41

Thank you @Emelene
You’re not a bad friend I think its completely natural to feel that way x

Emelene · 13/02/2020 20:28

Congratulations @LBB2020!

My really good friend just told me she is pregnant with her second, after a recent loss. I'm really happy for her but I also had that stab of longing and jealousy for myself. Has anyone else had similar? I feel like a bad friend!

Mrstakeiteasy · 13/02/2020 19:05

Can I join too! Not been on mumsnet since having our dd 4.5 years ago, she was a very lovely surprise! So never been through ttc before and finding it very difficult to cope with the 2wwHmm how does everyone cope?! Congratulations on your bfp lbb2020! And good luck to everyone this month!

LBB2020 · 13/02/2020 14:11

Thank you! Smile x

tgwjslo · 13/02/2020 13:47

Congrats @LB2020!

SomethingAboutYou · 13/02/2020 13:06

Ahhh first cycle both times, amazing. Fingers crossed for you that it all works out well and you'll have a new addition to your family this Autumn! 😍😍😍

LBB2020 · 13/02/2020 12:49

I just felt like I usually do in the run up to getting my period. I didn’t test until this morning, AF was due Tuesday.
We’re still a bit shocked, this was our first cycle TTC. We conceived first cycle with DC1 but didn’t expect it to happen so fast again this time! Hoping all goes smoothly (I’m late thirties and a few friends have had miscarriages recently so I’m quite nervous about something going wrong this time)

SomethingAboutYou · 13/02/2020 12:09

Did you have a feeling or signs that made you think you might be pg or did you manage to block it all out until af was late?

LBB2020 · 13/02/2020 10:36

Thank you! Grin

SomethingAboutYou · 13/02/2020 10:14

Amazing news @LBB2020 - congratulations! Such exciting news!
