This is the thread for those of us in the TTC after loss penguin huddle who want to try to eat a more healthy diet, exercise more, lose weight or just feel better physically this year
🐧🐧🐧
@MrsMGE @Avocuddles @MissSparkles81 @SunshineCrocodile @Mumlili8 @VenusStarr @SunStruck

If I’ve missed anyone please tag them

How about we start by saying what our goals are whether that he the number on the scale, doing more exercise or just feeling better about ourselves?

I’m BunnytheBlueWhale (NC recently - see TTC thread). I’m 35 and probably weigh about a stone more than I’d like since I had my stillborn daughter in February. I don’t need to lose weight massively but having post-baby weight and no baby is a bit rubbish!

I’d like to lose a bit of a weight all over and also target my belly with brushing, moisturising and maybe microneedling at home...

I eat a lot of sugary snacks so want to massively reduce those and also try to take a healthy lunch to work to stop me spending so much money on food!

I use Pre Seed sometimes. It’s ok. I think the accepted wisdom is it’s better for TTC than any other lube (which an damage sperm) but not necessarily better than nothing if you don’t need it. So don’t waste the moment if you don’t need lube. I have found PreSeed seems to be quite cheap in Morrisons a couple of times I’ve looked...

Not even flinching talking about lube 😬

Oh no! @LASandOtto

I just had some of the DE balls again. Lovely.

Hi all. @tortiecat sorry you had a breakfast spillage but you post did make me smile. Hope you managed to disguise it!

@LASandOtto can you try a hairband or something to hook through the loop and around the button? Might just help hold it together today. Otherwise hopefully your top covers it??

@MrsMGE i've never used pre seed but have also heard good things about it. It seems to be mentioned a fair bit on the SMEP plan, I guess because you have to DTD a few times in a row so some lube helps. I've also heard it comes with an applicator and it works best applied with the applicator about 15-20 mins before DTD. Give it a go and report back!

I didn't manage any exercise today but have done well with food again today so i'm feeling good about that. We've just heard our consultant appointment has been moved forward to this Friday so I am very nervous now, will try not to revert to chocolate to help with the nerves.

SunStruck · 22/01/2020 13:45

@mrsMGE CONGRATS on your weight loss!!! 😄😄😄 very well done, and you sound much happier!

@lasandotto @mrsMGE @tortiecat yes I've used Conceive Plus last time I fell pregnant as well as this time! So it's the same as pre-seed but a different brand, with some more minerals in there to help the sperm out 😁 I think it's great - I second @lasandotto, put it in before dtd (before you go to bed). It's quite expensive but if you have to dtd 5 days in a row on request it's godsend. Also, it helps the sperm live for longer up there if you dtd a few days before!

@lasandotto so funny about the button 🤣🤣🤣🤣

MrsMGE · 22/01/2020 13:26

Omg I am spitting my tea all over reading your posts 😂😂😂

@LASandOtto You need some Post-Dip by the sounds of it, girl! 😳

@tortiecat I am tempted, but not sure how I feel about squirting/whacking something in down there, plus what do I do, order it to work?! Do Amazon locker?! Wtf 😂😂😂

LASandOtto · 22/01/2020 13:21

Don't even show it to DH @MrsMGE! I've used other lube in the past and just whack that stuff in before DTD and it's game on 😂😂 just try it out before you use it with DH.

In other news, I've just been to the ladies at work. Got an iffy button on my jeans. Well, it sort of pops off as I go to unbutton it and sacrifices itself down the toilet. I stood there staring at it for a good 3 mins, debating if these jeans will hold up without button by the sheer willpower of my zip, or not. Anyway, my hands are now drier than the Serengeti after 10 x hand washing and 10 x applying anti bac gel, so, the idea of lube seems quite appealing for me right now! Hahaha!

tortiecat · 22/01/2020 12:39

@MrsMGE I am sure I have read on here that pre-seed is the one that comes with an applicator so you can squirt it in prior to DTD?? How romantic! Will you give it a go and let us know? I've seen many "Oh I used it and fell pregnant that month" stories on here so have been tempted, I just haven't got round to ordering it myself x

MrsMGE · 22/01/2020 12:10

@LASandOtto But I've never used a lube! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Don't even know where to start and I might end up laughing nervously and killing the mood!

LASandOtto · 22/01/2020 12:04

@MrsMGE very romantic! I haven't but I've read on here it's worked magic for plenty of women!

I'm sure your DH won't mind a bit of a spicy Valentines gift? 😆

MrsMGE · 22/01/2020 12:02

Ladies...has anyone used Pre-Seed before? The romantic in me is debating whether to treat DH for Valentines 👀 Opinions welcome!

tortiecat · 22/01/2020 11:57

@MrsMGE thanks - I will give it a go! Wispas are 4 for 90p in Tesco's atm but I have resisted so far...

@LASandOtto YES!!! 😂😂😂 That is so me

LASandOtto · 22/01/2020 11:47

Hi Ladies!

I'll read everyone's posts properly later, just having a quick 'break at desk' with a brief Instagram check and the attached made me laugh so wanted to post it to you all! X

MrsMGE · 22/01/2020 11:25

@tortiecat At least it has white bits then 😂 You can pull this off!

Graze chocolate orange flapjacks are delish if you're after something tasting chocolatey, but not too calorific (Wispa was my go to chocolate too!) xxx

tortiecat · 22/01/2020 11:18

@MrsMGE It is red with white spots. Or it was. It is now red and white spots with a dodgy looking smear over my left thigh (which is firmly hidden under a desk) Grin

@BunnytheBlueWhale this is a Larabar: https://www.larabar.co.uk/our-products/
It did not last til the afternoon, I have just scoffed it. It wasn't bad, it tastes exactly like dates smushed together with banana and nuts, but a Wispa it is not ☹️

BunnytheBlueWhale · 22/01/2020 10:48

@tortiecat Oh you did so well to get a healthy snack, it is a shame it made a mess! Let us know the Lara bar is. Not sure I’ve heard of it

But I did buy a meal deal this morning amen got some more nut butter balls (hazelnut). They didn’t have the almond but the hazelnut were delicious anyway

@tortiecat You never fail to make me laugh 😂😂😂

What colour is your dress?

tortiecat · 22/01/2020 10:01

Morning ladies - just quickly checking in! Sorry I've been so quiet - another mad week. I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of you who are pregnant at the moment and sending love to those who are having a difficult week (appreciate the two aren't exclusive!)

I am jumping on the FitBit bandwagon too... I've had it ages but not worn it consistently. Am going to try and get my 10,000 steps a day :)

I am travelling for work and would like you all to know that I chose some fruit and stevia-sweetened Quark for breakfast today instead of my usual pastry! All well and good except that the weight of the spoon tipped the almost empty pot into my lap and now have Quark on my dress... this would never have happened with a pastry!! Grin Anyway I have been inspired by all the balls posts yesterday and got a Larabar for a mid-afternoon snack... I'll let you know how it is!

MrsMGE · 22/01/2020 09:50
  • thighs not things

Too many typos, sorry! 🤦🏼‍♀️

MrsMGE · 22/01/2020 09:49
  • can't be rushed, of course!

I have finally lost some weight! Wooooo!!! I feel great this week, really on it. I did two one-hour walks at lunchtime this week, third one planned for today. One dance class, two HIIT sessions, third one coming today. Apart from one small pack of crisps, no naughty stuff! I have so many different things planned with friends and family next month that I'm trying to be very, very good. It's hard work sometimes, but it's paying off!

My waist looks a lot better! Some flabby bits left, lower abdomen is a bitch, isn't it. I need to get rid of the fat from there, but otherwise, I am slowly starting to see some abs again, my bum and things are also in much better shape! I'm delighted, actually.

I read somewhere it takes 3 weeks to develop a lasting habit, this is my 3rd week and long may it continue 🌺😊

The Fitbit is also brilliant... It's arrived already and I love everything about it! How did I live without it!

Happy Hump Day, girls! Xxx

MrsMGE · 22/01/2020 09:42

@Shefliesonherownwings I was the same as Bunny, on a number of occasions I stood at the train station en route to work and cried. Cried on trains, sometimes at my desk (luckily have my own office), in work toilets, when I saw something emotional on TV. Anything to do with babies, pg announcements, blood and AF was extremely triggering for me up until recently. Now I get that kind of anxiety or the "heavy" feeling as I would describe it, kind of like "oh, God, here we go, another bump around me" kind of feeling, but it goes away quickly. I've stopped noticing pg women around me so much, I'm getting to the point where I actually don't care that much? It's their pg and they may well have their own problems, and I have mine. But it took me 7 long months to get to this stage and I think it just happens when your mind is ready. Lots of things help, keeping healthy certainly does, but it's not one of those things that can be rushed. Xxx

BunnytheBlueWhale · 21/01/2020 21:12

@Shefliesonherownwings If your DH is food with his phone then that should help. At least twice my DH had his phone on silent so didn’t answer me for ages and I was stressing out! He later said his phone was on silent in his coat and I was like “What?!” He had to have an op on November (partial circumcision for medical reasons but we both love the result 😂) and they said he’d be back from theatre in about 30 mins. He was gone for an hour and a half! Can you imagine what I was going through siting there. Apparently the nurse didn’t know but DH has barely come round and he was like “you’d hear tell my wife I’m ok!” He was ok. What happened to us is so cruel but that doesn’t mean it will happen again. I think you will hopefully find it gets a bit easier to return to some sense of normality. Yoga was really good for me but made me emotional too. You are so early in your grief too, things like that will happen sometimes. I’ve had journeys into work on the train where I’m suddenly crying and then manage to hide it... not sure there’s a way around it but it doesn’t happen to me often now xx

Thank you ladies, you never fail to make me feel a bit better. I'm sorry others have suffered and continue to suffer anxiety, it can be so debilitating. Yes I am basically imagining DH dead in a ditch somewhere, being attacked and killed... Even if he said he was going back to a mates house I'd worry he would fall asleep and suffocate. I just can't relax on my own anymore. Before we lost Isla I was super independent, loved my own space and having time to myself. I don't recognise myself anymore. At counselling, we spoke about DH going out and he said I should always just text and ask him to come home if I feel anxious and he will so I feel a bit better.

I went to a yoga class at my gym today, first one I've been to since being pregnant. I found it quite hard but it felt good stretching all my muscles. Unfortunately at the very end when we all lay down for relaxation, the tears came. I have no idea why, I just couldn't stop it. I managed to hide it from everyone and got to the car before properly breaking down. I hate this out of control feeling and never knowing when I will get upset. Sorry to vent but it's been a hard afternoon.

In good news, I've done well with food today and still have enough WW points for some chocolate tonight. I'm going to look out for these DE balls, they do look good.

MrsMGE · 21/01/2020 17:35

@MissSparkles81 I personally consider the monarchy to be a completely outdated concept, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the series. I loved Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby, some really strong female performances there!

I'm sorry re your job situation, this cannot be easy and not much can be done about this if someone just suddenly drops it into the conversation. At the same time, I kind of think this should be spoken about and mentioned in conversations because in some ways, this would finally make the whole experience less scary and more human to everyone. It would be understood for what it really is, rather than avoided as one of "those uncomfortable things". But of course I get that if the pain is still raw, an unexpected mention can be triggering.

Take care and enjoy your clubbercise tonight (I'm very jealous!!) xxx

MissSparkles81 · 21/01/2020 17:22

@BunnytheBlueWhale honestly its so good. Im not even a fan of the royal family but its got me hooked x

BunnytheBlueWhale · 21/01/2020 16:11

@MissSparkles81 You’ve made me think I should watch the Crown!

OP posts:
MrsMGE · 21/01/2020 15:27

@SunStruck Yes, I know, courtesy of DH 🙌

@MissSparkles81 I loved it too, watched all three series! Good choice!
