Feel like everywhere I look people are getting BFPs which is great but I’m starting to worry a bit. We’ve been trying since June and have had nothing yet. OH had sperm tests last year as part of something else and all came back fine. I’m 28 and he’s 41 so age hopefully shouldn’t be a problem.
Please could people share some positive 6 month+ ttc stories to cheer me up and stop me stressing as I know that won’t help all this either.
Also if anyone else is in the same situation and wants to chat that would be lovely.

@Banoffeepie91 where are you off too? I wanted to go to cape verde but its at risk of Zika virus. Gutted.

Ive decided all ive done the last couple of days is dwell on the negative of not being pregnant. Whereas its actually been the best year getting married and celebrating with amazing family and friends and i have to focus on that. So wishing you all a happy new year xx

Banoffeepie91 · 31/12/2019 16:16

Holidays are the best distraction. We’ve booked one for April. If I do end up getting pregnant by then and am not feeling well enough to go we’ll cut our losses with it as we’ll be so happy it won’t matter. If we aren’t we have something exciting to look forward to and plan for.

@makingafamily19 your right. It does always feel worse when AF arrives but it doesnt last forever. I already feel a bit better and booked an appointment for the 15th to get the ball rolling with some tests. Also booking a holiday on Saturday. Need a distraction. Going to try and forget about it all for this cycle xx

Makeafamily19 · 30/12/2019 22:24

@Trying2019 no I haven't been on the pill in years as I didn't get on with it, we were just using condoms. I know some women's cycles take a while to regulate after the pill but my body doesn't even have that excuse!
It's such an emotional rollercoaster, I go up and down like a yo-yo! Always feel heartbroken when my spotting starts until AF finishes, then I'm more positive. I'm trying to adjust my expectations to 'I'll have my baby eventually' rather than right now. I need to book some more holidays and make plans so it's not the only focus.
Take care of yourself while you are feeling low and know that it will pass.

Trying2019 · 30/12/2019 21:57

It would be lovely to keep the group going. Its nice to be in a group with people trying for a similar time. I really hope 2020 is our year. Ive been a wreck tonight all emotional about it. Tomorrow is a new day though. Too many people to tag but thanks everyone sharing their stories does help.

@Makeafamily19 where you on the pill before trying? I am at a new doctors surgery now finally changed after moving house 2 years ago so no idea how good they will be. I think ill feel more positive knowing im taking steps to get checked though.

@banoffeepie91 hopefully AF wont arrive and you get your BFP. Maybe its too earlyto show

Xx

@MrsMeow2019 ‘not-prego-in a flash group’ I like it. Chatting to you guys over the last few days has really cheered me up.
Also OH spoke to his friend about TTC the other day. They caught first try but said most of the people they know with babies the same age as theirs took over 6 months so that makes me feel better.
I think sometimes it’s easy to focus on all the people who took 1 or 2 try’s and forget about everything else.

Lots of luck to all for this cycle, agreed would be lovely to keep the thread alive and hopefully have some luck in the not-prego-in a flash group 😂.

Fingers and toes crossed for lucky January to all x

Makeafamily19 · 30/12/2019 20:22

@Trying2019 I went to the GP this evening, mainly to get a rx for more folic acid but he asked how long we had been trying when I was there and I said 11 months. He said may as well get the ball rolling with me so has sent me for a blood test on day 21. He mentioned thyroid and progesterone but not sure what else. He said to come back next month to start other tests and get DH tested. Feel positive that I'm doing something and hopefully we get a BFP in the meantime.

JeffV · 30/12/2019 19:27

Hope you manage to get a GP appointment @banoffeepie91 and feel a better soon Flowers

Banoffeepie91 · 30/12/2019 18:39

Thank you all. I was due AF today but it hasn’t come and BFN on the test I’ve just done. Was convincing myself at work today that I was pregnant and symptom spotting everything under the sun. Now I’m just annoyed because it means my cycles aren’t regular like I thought they were and I’ve upset OH.
I have been temping and using OPKs but haven’t been the best this cycle so once AF comes I will be right back on it.

Would be great to check in every so often with all of you.

I might try booking a drs appointment if AF doesn’t turn up in a few days and see if they can make any sense of my cycles and then hope I get a nice one and maybe they’ll do some blood tests for me.

@Banoffeepie91

I have two children both conceived within the first year. It's hard every month when either you get the BFN or you get your period.

86% of couples conceived within the first year! That's great odds for you. If you feel concerned, you should consult your GP for advice. They may not order any tests until you hit over the 12 months point but they may send you for blood tests if they are feeling nice.

Don't lose heart, I think six months feels an eternity when you are TTC. I never felt pregnant either time. I had an ultrasound booked to check my ovaries with my first DD and I realised I was day 47dpo. I went home from work and did the test and it was positive. It felt so surreal.

Have you tried charting your temperatures? That really helped me understand how my body works. Do you have regular cycles? Sadly, I don't so I use ovulation tests as I often ovulate after day 22. This helps.

If you are having regular intercourse, then give it some time. I wish you all the luck :)

Hi Bannoffee and all others in the same boat. We have been trying since April and nothing yet either! It’s so frustrating when others can get pregnant quickly and I’m really starting to struggle now. You mentioned the loneliness because you haven’t told others. Well I did tell others and now I’m starting to feel shame that we have conceived yet. It’s still a lonely place because no one quite gets it. Fingers crossed we all won’t be waiting too much longer!!

JeffV · 30/12/2019 11:03

I'm sorry AF got you. Mine is due on the 1st and am having AF style cramps as I type. I know the feeling - I will also be sulking. DH doesn't get the need for sulking but I need it before I can face trying to be positive again. Brought some maca root to try next cycle and am going to look at start OPKs/temping

I know I've only posted once but I'd like to check back in with the thread every so often if it keeps going Smile

Trying2019 · 30/12/2019 10:33

Its nice to know that others are in the same boat and not everyone gets pregnant within a couple of months. AF has arrived so im starting cycle 8. We have decided to book a holiday for march i think i need a distraction. Hoping to book for my FW. Fed up of events happening that i thought id be pregnant for and im not. Praying im pregnant by next Christmas. Going to give myself today to sulk and then try and be positive. January is always depressing and going to only feel worse not pregnant.

Would be lovely to keep the thread going to hopefully share some good news.

@Makeafamily19 how did you get on at the doctors? Decided im definitely going next month if im not pregnant. Also decided not to track this month. Although i have ovulate day 18 last two months so ill know anyway

MrsMeow2019 · 28/12/2019 17:03

@Banoffeepie91 afraid I don’t have a positive story but am another on who is in a similar boat. We’ve been TTc for 5 cycles, AF showed up before Xmas so in cycle 6 now. I knew it would take a while but know lots of people who seem to get pregnant in a flash and it’s starting to get frustrating that we haven’t managed. I work in healthcare so I know there’s no point getting tests done yet but can’t help worrying we’re trying for nothing if there’s something wrong.

It’s nice to hear from others with longer waits as well, some of the chats seem full of ladies who are so lucky and get pregnancy the first month.

Trying to go into 2020 with positivity though, hoping we will all get our BFPs this year 😊 x

Darell04 · 28/12/2019 14:33

I'm in the same boat. It feels like it has been forever. Also seen so many announcements over Christmas... I'm happy for them but a little bit jealous all at once. I told a close friend that I am TTC, too. It has really helped. I told someone who is honest and realistic, not someone who is full of annoying optimism. When AF arrives and I tell her, she says "sorry, mate. That's shit. How you feeling?" And lets me have a moan. I don't think I could cope with someone who was saying "just relax! It'll be next month!" Do you have anyone else you can talk to about it? I've found it so therapeutic even just to have a good laugh about how shit it it sometimes. I also really don't want it to become the only thing DH and I talk about, so it takes some of that pressure away.

Banoffeepie91 · 28/12/2019 14:21

I think it’s the loneliness that’s getting to me. We’ve told no one that we’re ttc so only have OH to talk to about it. Nice to hear from other people and that it does happen. Need to go into 2020 thinking positively!

Started in August 2018 and conceived April 2019, it can take a while. I was always worried but now only got four weeks to go. It will happen.

JeffV · 27/12/2019 22:38

Hi all, We also started the ttc journey for our 1st in June and are in the same boat. I'm sorry I cant add a positive story but I do understand how you feel. I just feel so disheartened with it all and then I feel guilty because I guess in the grand scheme of things people try for much longer before they fall. It's incredibly hard to be around everyone else who is pregnant or has little ones isn't it? DH doesn't quite understand how it make me feel each time AF shows up. Friends have all had easy ttc journey and although I've not told them I'm finding this a bit lonely

ThoroughlyForumed · 27/12/2019 22:21

We started trying for #1 in May so 7 months for us so far. It's been crap - I always thought (we're both very healthy and fit, dont drink, smoke etc..) that it'd be a breeze and one or two months in we'd be pregnant.
AF is due tomorrow and I'm panicking once again that she'll turn up with a vengeance. Since we started four sets of friends have all announced their #1s and I've balled my eyes out every time (in private, later on). TTC is brutal, I feel your pain Flowers

Banoffeepie91 · 27/12/2019 22:00

I had the coil so it will be on my records when it will be removed in June so I won’t be able to get anything from my GP until then. Thinking of maybe going privately for some tests as if they’re all ok then will put my mind at ease and hopefully I can enjoy ttc and then if they’re not at least I could go to the GP with them and they might be able to do something earlier.

@Trying2019 yeah exactly, if everything is normal and it just takes longer then fair enough, but I don't want to waste time if there is an issue. My period is only 1-2 days and I get pre AF spotting so I feel like there could be something going on there. I have the doctors on Monday to get more folic acid so I'm going to mention then that we have been trying for nearly a year and see what he says.

Trying2019 · 27/12/2019 21:52

@Makeafamily19 i started in june as well. My husband went doctors for another issue last month so told him to ask for a sperm test. We have the kit here but would have missed our fertile week if tested so going to get it sorted beginning off jan if AF arrives. I may go doctors after cycle 8 and say ive been trying for a year. I dont mind trying longer if everything comes back fine. Its the not knowing and not wanting to waste time if there is a problem that i dont like x

Makeafamily19 · 27/12/2019 21:32

I've been trying since June as well, AF started Monday so now onto cycle 8 (my cycles are only 25 days). It just feels like it's never going to happen. My doctor won't do anything until it's been a year so I'm just going to pretend it's been longer than it has and go in a couple of months as I just want to know if there's an issue so we can sort it. I'm 31 and I never wanted to be an older mum so I feel like I'm running out of time.

Trying2019 · 27/12/2019 20:45

@banoffeepie91 its tough isnt it. Its good that there are other people on here who understand. All my friends got pregnant within a couple of months so they dont get how shit it feels. Hopefully AF wont arrive for either of us. I keep thinking not to waate time being miserbale when i could be pregnant in a month or so but feels it'll never happen xx
