TTC after miscarriage - January 2020

Hello all (and late Merry Christmas!)

Looking for TTC buddies in a similar situation! 👋

In September I accidentally became pregnant. We had planned to begin TTC in Jan 2020 anyway, so we were really excited. Sadly, at my 12 week scan on 25th Nov, I found out I had had a missed miscarriage and the baby had stopped growing at about 9 weeks. The week that followed was one of the most traumatic in my life, having failed medical management and then an ERPC. All this happened whilst I was in another country.

Since then my recovery has been okay but all I can think about is wanting to be pregnant again and have been hoping and praying that my period returns soon so that we can officially start trying.

This morning I have had brown discharge and cramping, so it does feel like AF is on the way. So I guess I am going to count today as CD1 of my first official TTC cycle?

I wondered if anyone had been through anything similar and if so I am so sorry for your loss and what you had to go through. It really is a horrendous time. 💐

Anyone want to join me? 💕

@GoldenBauble good news! You must be relieved. New chapter to come...
Good luck with the health regime :)Flowers

GoldenBauble · 04/01/2020 15:42

Hi all! Hope everyone is doing ok. My period has made a surprise appearance this morning 4.5 weeks post surgery! My hcg levels earlier this week weren't quite classed as negative yet and I was still getting faint positives on pregnancy tests so I'd geared myself up for it not arriving for another couple of weeks but I've never been so relieved for its arrival! I think I'm finally starting to feel a tinge of excitement about the future and ttc again now, which is the first time since September! At least I know things are getting back to normal now and we can finally start to properly move on 🤗.

Good luck to everyone who has started to try again this month! We're still going to wait a few months but I'm staying on this thread for the positive vibes and hopefully lots of success stories 🤞. I'm being really strict with our new health regime much to my husbands dismay!

@milscookie that is hard news to hear. I can only imagine how you feel, I know I would be happy but devastated at the same time. I also meant to say thanks for sharing your scan photo the other day. We chose not to take a photo at the time we found out about our MMC as it just felt too painful to see. As it was a private scan they did say we could return to collect it if we changed our minds and part of me is now wondering if we should. I still have my positive pregnancy tests from when we found out and I think I should probably put it all together somewhere. Initially I thought I'd find it too hard to keep seeing everything as a reminder but now I'm feeling like it was still my baby and I should have the photo.

Anyway, hope you're all having a lovely weekend 😊

Thanks so much @MilsCookie @ChampooPapi I really needed that. My family are all saying “at least you know you can get pregnant” which is totally unhelpful and also that I can’t just mope around and must get on with life - which I know myself but gosh give me a week to be sad like. Anyway here’s to AF coming in a month and getting back on the baby making train Wink. I’m going to my other GP (because I am mid moving counties at the moment so had been seeing two gps ante natal wise) on Monday and will tell her I’ve miscarried. I’m making a list of questions for her re: when can I try again etc etc. I’ll keep you all informed if there is anything different from what’s already posted! I doubt it bc you all seem to know everything! Thanks for I found this group. Good luck gals and biggest love to you xx

Ejb86 · 04/01/2020 14:00

@MilsCookie @TerribleImagination I had the metallic taste when i was pregnant with my son. None with the twins though. Isn't it interesting how symptoms differ?

Michette · 04/01/2020 13:16

@Anny27 maybe not a cycle without ovulation.
Thank god!

Michette · 04/01/2020 13:15

@MilsCookie i thought i had ewcm three days ago... now it’s just more discharge. But more watery...
Also just took my opk and i think i m about to ovulate.
Compared to yesterday! Crazy progression

Getting excited Smile

MilsCookie · 04/01/2020 12:51

Forgot to add: I just met the friend I mentioned in a previous post who did of course announce that she was pregnant. She’s due 2 weeks after I would’ve had my baba 😔 so that’s going to be really hard when it gets to June. She already has a little bump and can feel the baby move etc. I am so so happy for her but can’t help thinking; that should’ve been me as well! It’s so difficult.

Fingers crossed for you both @DisneyMummySince2010 @TerribleImagination - exciting times! It’s funny to think we could all be in month 1 of our pregnancies but we just don’t know it yet!! Lots and lots of baby dust and positive vibes to everyone! 🍀 💫 @TerribleImagination - I also got the weird metallic taste down the sides of my tongue a few days before AF was due - for me that was almost the most obvious symptom because I’d never had it before!

@Michette I am just aware that my cm changes throughout the month as I see it in my knickers! Usually a week/few days before ovulation I get more CM and maybe one day of EWCM (although I don’t always notice that) and then it sort of dries up again after I’ve ovulated and there’s less of it. But interested in what others say!

@DisneyMummySince2010 fingers crossed for you. The TWW goes so slow x

Michette · 04/01/2020 12:00

Question to ladies tracking CM...

How do you see it? When dtd? Or you go inside and check? If yes how far?

I have never been able to really check because not sure how to look for it Hmm

TerribleImagination · 04/01/2020 11:37

@MilsCookie I haven’t tracked this month, but I did the 2 months after first TTC so I got to know what was happening with my EWCM when I got my peak day, so I’m grateful my body has a spot on routine! Told myself I’d just DTD every other day when I know I’m in the fertile week, and if it doesn’t work this month then go back to using OPK’s next month. Fingers crossed for this month though! I got the metallic taste in my mouth super early last time 🤞🏻

DisneyMummySince2010 · 04/01/2020 09:29

Morning,
I got another negative opk this morning so really hoping I caught ovulation on 2nd- fingers crossed I’m in my TWW!!!

MilsCookie · 03/01/2020 20:41

@GemLou88 it’s so hard isn’t it. I feel like some sort of crazy obsessed person. It’s all I can think about! I genuinely think 50% of the time I’m awake I’m thinking about being pregnant or counting down the days to ovulation or AF/BFP etc. 🙈

Hey @Ejb86 that’s so rubbish you’re having a bleed again so soon after AF. I’m sure it’s completely normal while your body is getting back to normal. I’m not sure about OPKs as I have never used them, sorry. Hope the doctors can give you some answers. 😘

@TerribleImagination have you tracked your ovulation this month? I’m excited for you to be in the TWW! Feel free to share any symptom spotting on here! 🙊

Welcome to the thread @hannahs87 and @helly013 so sorry for your losses 😘 when are you due AF?

@StephyRose 😘

@Bath2020 welcome and so sorry for your loss. Don’t worry at all - no judgment here lovely - post what you like, vent, cry, laugh, tell us what you had for dinner! We are all here to support each other - even if sometimes it’s just a virtual hug 🤗

ChampooPapi · 03/01/2020 20:19

I am so sorry to read what you've just been through, you must be feeling pretty stunned by it all. It is hard, really bloody hard. Sending a virtual hug 🤗

ChampooPapi · 03/01/2020 20:11

But your 30s are a fine time to have babies ladies. And we will get there. 💪🌈

@StephyRose love this! Being 32 myself it was music to my ears. Onwards and upwards, the next few weeks are going to fly by and before we know it there will be pictures of positive tests on here 🌦️🌈

Bath2020 · 03/01/2020 18:52

Hi ladies

I’m new here Confused... found out I was pregnant (first baby) at the start of December. Last Sunday I started spotting (brown). This wasn’t that unusual to me because I had implantation bleeding. Then it got worse, dark and clots and it was confirmed Monday that I had a Mmc (baby stopped growing at 5 weeks 6 days). I am devastated As is my husband but he is defo more pragmatic than me and v hopeful that it will happen for us which is good I guess). The ultrasound lady told me to wait to pass it. I think I have but I’m still bleeding with small clots and cramps. Anyway I am gasp just gone 36 yo and feeling that I must get pregnant quickly again bc of my age- so scared it won’t happen. I’m so sorry to everyone here who has had the same shitty Christmas and New Year! Here’s hoping for a baby filled 2020. This was not an informative post or helpful For this forum whatsoever I know that but I just need to get the thoughts down and out of my head. I will be ttc ASAP though so will keep in touch. Thanks all xx

Anny27 · 03/01/2020 15:32

@StephyRose I thought it was weird at first but it really helps me to know that I have definitley ovulated! I use the femometer app and thermometer, it's all bluetooth so once you have taken your temp it automatically puts it on your chart and let's you know when it detects ovulation patterns. I love it haha! Maybe give it a go because cycle (hopefully you dont have to and you get your bfp!!!)

@michette sometimes you can have a cycle without ovulating, it's called an anovulatory cycle but not sure much about them sorry! It sounds like from the scan that you may already be past ovulation for this month. The first cycle after miscarriage is strange I think but you might still be in with a chance this month!!

Michette · 03/01/2020 15:19

I am also 30 and closer to 31 and just trying for first...

Went for scan with NHS today after being back from the holiday.
All is good but she said i was midcycle and should expect my periods in two weeks HmmHmm

I started opk yesterday since i finally had negative pregnancy tests but nothing there... the faintest of faintest lines

Very confused. Can it be a cycle with no ovulation???

I only DTD yesterday properly since MC at xmas Xmas Sad

StephyRose · 03/01/2020 15:19

@Anny27 I have just mentally snubbed temping. Do you think i should give it a go? :) what thermometer did you buy and where do you record your results? Lots of questions 🤣

Anny27 · 03/01/2020 13:37

@disneymummysince2010 sometimes when I am very hydrated my tests and lighter and then go dark again. Do another test later on this evening and if it's still light it's likely you have caught :) but I temp as well so that j know I have caught ovulation

Cycle day 9 today and had a high reading on my opk so DTD but not having fertile CM yet so think it's still early.

@stephyrose that's a good mental attitude. 2019 is gone and onwards to 2020 🥰

DisneyMummySince2010 · 03/01/2020 13:20

I need help! I don’t know if I’ve caught my ovulation or if it’s still to come? The top opk is yesterday morning and the bottom is this morning. I’ve had darker OPKs before but the sudden change makes me think I caught it this cycle.
I’d appreciate any thoughts 😩 thank you!

TTC after miscarriage - January 2020
ceebee21 · 03/01/2020 11:11

Morning all, am trying to catch up with what I have missed over the past couple of days.

So sorry to find so many of us in this situation, although I guess it provides some comfort in the fact that it a lot more common that most people realise - still doesn't make it hurt any less.

I am now onto CD6.

Am definitely trying to lose some weight and have a diet overhaul!!

xx

helly013 · 03/01/2020 10:38

Hi just joining the thread. I had my first miscarriage 3rd December at 7 weeks, first pregnancy. I was very fortunate the miscarriage was very straight forward. Had hoped to TTC straight away but me and hubby were both ill whist I was ovulating so not much baby making happened. So I'm just a waiting for my period to start post miscarriage so we can start TTC properly. I fell pregnant first time using ovulation tests so hoping I will have a January BFP.

LilMrsS · 03/01/2020 10:24

Thanks ladies, I know it's crazy when 30s seem old kinda wish someone would have told me in my 20s how different it was but we weren't ready for no#2 until now. I've started relaxing more about DTD just every 2-3 days throughout il see how that goes as it was just crazy past couple months being so regimented. Keep updated see how you all get on maybe 2020 our year!

StephyRose · 03/01/2020 10:01

@ChampooPapi @MilsCookie Loving the positivity ladies. I let myself grieve for a month and a half- the last part of 2019. But I decided on Tuesday that 2020 would mean not letting myself be defined by tragedy- totally cringe I know! But just because one really sh!t thing happened, by means does it determine the rest of our lives. So bring on the rainbows because there are going to be plenty of them around here!! 🌈🌈

Hey @GoldenBauble are we the same or what? I fell pregnant two months before my 30th. I felt like it was fate as I couldn't have planned it better, it was awesome. But DP and I have a mortgage, we have been to the USA twice and to Thailand, lots of lovely holidays and days out, spoiled ourselves ... as anxious as I am about conceiving again, I wouldn't change that for the world.

But your 30s are a fine time to have babies ladies. And we will get there. 💪🌈
