TTC after miscarriage - January 2020

Hello all (and late Merry Christmas!)

Looking for TTC buddies in a similar situation! 👋

In September I accidentally became pregnant. We had planned to begin TTC in Jan 2020 anyway, so we were really excited. Sadly, at my 12 week scan on 25th Nov, I found out I had had a missed miscarriage and the baby had stopped growing at about 9 weeks. The week that followed was one of the most traumatic in my life, having failed medical management and then an ERPC. All this happened whilst I was in another country.

Since then my recovery has been okay but all I can think about is wanting to be pregnant again and have been hoping and praying that my period returns soon so that we can officially start trying.

This morning I have had brown discharge and cramping, so it does feel like AF is on the way. So I guess I am going to count today as CD1 of my first official TTC cycle?

I wondered if anyone had been through anything similar and if so I am so sorry for your loss and what you had to go through. It really is a horrendous time. 💐

Anyone want to join me? 💕

@Anny27 hey cycle buddy!! 👋 eeeek so exciting you’re in the lead up to ovulation! CD12 today but I don’t usually ovulate till around CD18/19. The month I accidentally got pregnant we dtd on CD21 (me thinking I wouldn’t get pregnant as I thought I’d ovulated!) - so actually maybe I ovulate later! 🤷🏼‍♀️ 🤔 LOL - I know what you mean. Sometimes the left over sperm is there in my knickers (soz that’s so gross!) and I’m like ‘ooo is it EWCM’?! 😂 glad I’m not the only one!

Random question ladies but I have my smear test tomorrow (CD13) you don’t think this will interfere with conception do you?!

Anny27 · 06/01/2020 09:12

@Cruiser1 I temp :) it's all about the rise in temp versus the actual temp e.g. my pre ovulation temp is 36.0-36.2 and then my post ovulation temp is 36.5-36.7 so a rise of about 0.4-6 degrees. So I think you need to see a few days of substantial rise before OV Is confirmed:)

Ladies TMI question but does anyone else find it hard to distinguish between EWCM and leftover sperm 😬😬😂😂

mlax · 06/01/2020 08:25

@Cruiser1 my ovulation is the same! It's very strange I think I need to use the sticks every day as I'm always so unsure! I can get a negative but clear lines then nothing.. nothing to tell me I'm leading up to my peak day!

I need to be more involved in this thread! I read someone else's comment about this too x

Cruiser1 · 06/01/2020 08:09

Hi @Anny27 👋🏼

Anyone doing BBT? I’m new to it..... I had a high temp this morning 37.3 .... I’m thinking I possibly ovulated? Temp was 36.4 yesterday

OPK Negative yesterday and light positive the day before

Oh the confusion 😫 I wish I had a little camera in there which sent me updates on what my ovaries are doing 😂 I mean it’s 2020 we should have the technology 😂😂

Anny27 · 05/01/2020 23:08

@GoldenBauble ahh really chuffed that your AF came back! It's a relief feeling isnt it!

@Michette ahh wow that's crazy line progression! Nearly tww time for you:D

Anny27 · 05/01/2020 23:05

Hey ladies :D going to try and be more active on here but it's so hard as thread moves quickly haha!

I am cycle day 11 today and I usually ovulate between 13-15 so hopefully in a few days! I am jealous of all the ladies already in the tww haha! Cant wait for the january bfps to start :D and please please symptom spot so we can get excited along with you 🤭

@MilsCookie cycle buddies - day 11 for me and I spotted my first EWCM today 🙌 dtd today but not got a positive opk so imagine it will be in the next few days 🤞

@StephyRose ahh that's so good that your cycles are more regular! I have heard a lot of other ladies say that seven seas worked the same way to do that :D

@terribleimagination I am also trying to replicate what we did when we conceived! We used a tiny bit of pressed and after DTD I elevated my hips for 10 mins and then laid on my front for 10 mins....dont know if it worked but it's what I did when we conceived so will do the same again ahha!

TerribleImagination · 05/01/2020 22:54

@MilsCookie That’s so interesting the weird taste went away and then came back... it makes sense though, cos it would be grim to have that for a whole pregnancy 🤢 (sorry this reply is super slow! I’ve spent the entire weekend putting new flooring down in my house! 🙈)

@Michette Yep I’ve used Pre-seed before! I don’t know if this is at all related or not, but I didn’t use it the first month we started trying, but I did the second month and that’s when we got pregnant 🤷🏻‍♀️ could be a fluke, but I’ve been using in post-miscarriage as well. Trying to replicate exactly what we did that month basically.

Cruiser1 · 05/01/2020 22:35

@Michette sorry I saw your post from earlier.... yes that’s a definitely positive line on your OPK..... I’m delighted for you!

❤️

Cruiser1 · 05/01/2020 22:30

@Michette
Pain right now??
Omg
Go for it..... wake husband nowwww!!! 😂😂

Michette · 05/01/2020 22:19

@cruiser1 @Mammacooks you mean you get negative then positive at random time but no ovulation??

Mine are pretty accurate the surge came before the bad pains. My right ovary is killing me :(

Cruiser1 · 05/01/2020 22:05

@Mammacooks ye I read that online alright, that the OPKs can give false positives after miscarriage so that’s why I decided to just DTD anyway.
I was hoping I’d get a negative and then a new positive but that hadn’t happened yet 😏
Iv a lot of bloating and some cramping at the moment and I think I remember the same thing happening after my first miscarriage too.
It’s strange coz I wouldn’t normally get mid cycle bloating or cramping - anyone have any idea what’s causing it?

Ye so I’m hoping to get some info from the blood tests I had done on Friday. Hopefully something easily fixed.

Meanwhile il be back to my usual symptom spotting that turns me into a crazy person every time 😥 I can’t stop myself though 😰
Any other symptom spotters?

@GemLou88 I feel for ya, the pressure is self inflicted for me but I sympathise 😥
My 2 best friends are pregnant and I really wanted to do it with them - it hurts a bit 😥
We will get there 👍🏼

GemLou88 · 05/01/2020 20:35

@Michette @StephyRose thanks for your advice. I had a negative pregnancy test not long after surgery. Which was 6 weeks after finding out no heart beat. AF came 5.5 weeks after surgery. I decided to start tracking today. I bought a pack with 50 opk and 20 pregnancy tests from amazon, which you can take photos with the Femometer app and it tells you what it thinks your levels are. Just have to keep checking I guess and DTD. OH just said his Mum has asked if there’s any baby news yet. Feels like the pressure is on a bit more now, and not just from myself

Mammacooks · 05/01/2020 20:34

I basically thought they would only be unreliable if you were still getting positive HPTs but turns out they can still be affected x

Mammacooks · 05/01/2020 20:19

@cruiser1
Very annoyingly I think that OPKs can be unreliable immediately after miscarriage. I had a negative HPT about a week after and then was using clearblue OPKs and ovulation showed up twice... either way tracking by when my AF arrived we hadn’t DTD early enough to catch it anyway.
Definitely a good tactic to just try and DTD every other day or often in a hope to catch it! Good luck everyone x

Cruiser1 · 05/01/2020 19:52

@michette I have been getting positive OPK since the miscarriage 😩 even though the hpt is negative 😭
I’m on day 15 now so I’m just DTD anyway and hoping for the best

Michette · 05/01/2020 18:45

My cycle is usually 30 days but i don’t know as i was on the pill so period was according to how i took it and was more withdrawal bleed and got pregnant straight after stopping so no period and now just miscarried two weeks ago so no periods yet...
But from my time not on the pill it was around 30 days.

Did another opk tonight still super strong so lh surge ongoing and from what i read we ovulate when the surge stops no?

What about you ?
Or when are you planning on testing??

Baby dust to you too Wink

StephyRose · 05/01/2020 16:35

Happy Sunday everyone, hope you are all having a lovely day. Back to work for me tomorrow 🤢

@MilsCookie well done for being an amazing friend. 💗 it will be your turn soon. I have a few pregnant friends at the moment and one friend (who DP and I double dated with last night) is trying at the same time as us now. I'll be so happy for her and her husband but gutted if it takes us longer to concieve. We are allowed to feel this was though, considering what we have been through.

@Anny27 thanks for the info love. I might get one but I managed to catch my LH surge this month - which was not when I originally thought it was, this time last week! 🤣🙈 - and I had it Friday and Sat, so I am 1DPO now. Nervous times. But although the OPKs are working I suppose tracking temperature is a much cheaper alternative. Shall give it a go next time, if I dont get luck this month. 😊 You were so right about those seven seas tablets by the way, totally regulated my cycle. I've gone from having random lengths every month (between 24 - 28 days) to a solid 28 days. Makes planning for ovulation so much easier 💗

@Michette baby dust to you in this fertile time! 💗👶🏼💙 we ovulated at the same time so we shall we doing the TWW together. How long are your cycles usually?

@GemLou88 I started using OPK's before my first AF after the ERPC. But I never caught the surge until this first full cycle after the MC.

@FireflyGirl @Cruiser1 welcome ladies, so so sorry for your losses. This is the thread for all the rainbow babies 🌈🌈 know you will get yours soon ❤❤.

I am 1DPO folks so I start the TWW. Have not missed the anticipation and nervous excitement of this time at all! 🤣

Michette · 05/01/2020 13:52

@GemLou88 i started using as soon as the pregnancy test was negative as the opk picked up hcg. But you can use as soon as AF stops if you have negative pregnancy test

GemLou88 · 05/01/2020 12:41

When did you ladies using OPK test start using them after your first AF after your miscarriage? Did you start using them straight away or go by your old cycle? My first AF stopped yesterday. Don’t know if it’s worth testing now incase ovulation isn’t the same as before with my body becoming regular again

DisneyMummySince2010 · 05/01/2020 12:19

That’s so exciting @Michette
I’m not sure about those particular antibiotics but if you’ve read the information leaflet and it says it’s okay than I wouldn’t worry- relax and have some fun!!!

Michette · 05/01/2020 10:27

It’s ovulation time for me!
Got the pain in my right one and the opk is positive today (pics attached with yesterday morning, afternoon and evening and this morning).

It’s only 13 days since the heavy bleeding started of MC and 15 days since it all started.
It’s crazy how the body recovers...

We are going to use pre seed today, has anyone used it before?

I am still taking Antibiotics though but i read that Docxycicline is not harmful in early pregnancy, what do you think?

@MilsCookie
I share the excitment around this time Wink

TTC after miscarriage - January 2020
MilsCookie · 05/01/2020 08:51

@Bath2020 I know...it’s bloody annoying isn’t it. I’m sure people say those things with the best intentions but I don’t think they understand that we need a bit of time to grieve. I definitely felt I was grieving quite badly for the first week after the ERPC. I actually had a horrible pain/weight in my chest that went with it and it turned out that was psychosomatic and calmed down if I did some deep breathing etc. It’s really ok to still feel sad lovely, I mean, it’s only just happened!! 💐 yes please defo let us know what the doctor says. We don’t know it all! (I definitely don’t anyway!!)

@GoldenBauble yayyy well done AF!! 👊🏼 You must be so relieved! It’s a strange one having the scan photo. It makes me feel sad every time I look at it, and I actually can’t look at it sometimes, but I’m glad I have it. My DP bought me a necklace for Christmas with a little Vietnamese hat pendant. We were actually in Vietnam when I lost the baby and spent 3 days in a hospital there going through the medical and the surgical management. At the time he bought me a teddy wearing one of those hats to stay with me in the hospital. So the necklace with the hat will always remind me of that time but mainly I wear it to feel close to my bubba. ❤️
Maybe if you feel better in time, you could go and ask the hospital for a copy. It just depends what makes you feel better 😘 Also even though you’re not TTC straight away I’m happy you’re staying with us! I hope you’ll tell us your BFP story when it comes later in the year ☺️

@TerribleImagination @Ejb86 haha yeah that’s a good point! 👶🏻 👶🏻 it’s weird. The taste in my mouth left when I got to about 6 weeks pregnant. Then it appeared again as I was miscarrying. I wonder if it’s to do with a certain percentage level of the HCG hormone? Like mine went once the HCG had got up, then came back once it was going down? Strange. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Welcome @Cruiser1 and @FireflyGirl so sorry for your losses. I’m so sorry for the way you were treated by the hospital Firefly. It’s a traumatic enough experience as it is, without the hospital being terrible. 😘 Hopefully this thread can help you and you’ll feel some comfort and support from all the wonderful, brave ladies here. Cruiser let us know you get on with your results. At least if you know what could be causing it then you can take action to prevent it happening again. 😘

CD11 for me today ladies and 2 days away from my fertile week! Can’t wait for aaaalll the sex haha 🤪😂

FireflyGirl · 04/01/2020 22:04

Hey, wondering if I could join in?

I had a traumatic mmc last summer, negligently handled by the hospital and resulting in medical management, and then a CP in November.

We took last month off to recoup, and are going to start ttc again this month. I started AF this morning, so on CD1. I have quite short cycles, so my fertile window starts pretty much as soon as AF finishes!

Cruiser1 · 04/01/2020 21:13

Hi ladies.... could I join??

I have 1 beautiful daughter she’s 2 and half
I had my first miscarriage in Sept 2019 at 6 weeks and my second 2 weeks ago at 7 weeks 😣💔

First one was devastating and took me by surprise because I had such an easy and uneventful pregnancy with my daughter and was fairly assuming as a result!
Second one I was terrified as soon as I got BFP but was comforted by perfectly doubling HCGs ..... when the bleeding started I think my heart stopped 💔

So..... I’m desperate to be pregnant again

Iv had a few tests and awaiting results. Possibly a borderline hypo thyroid .... we will see!

Anyways.... like OP it’s the only thing I can think off 90% of the day 😥

Xx

TerribleImagination · 04/01/2020 17:58

@MilsCookie @Ejb86 It’s such a strange one! I thought when it appeared for me that it was too soon, so thought it was something to do with an old root canal that still gives me grief 🤣 But then it was the last symptom to disappear post miscarriage too, so it was deffo related. Kinda good to know really, should take some of the stress out of the TWW going forward, even thought I’m sure symptoms can vary pregnancy to pregnancy. If I get pregnant again and don’t get it, I’m totally gonna be wondering if it’s twins now 🤣
