TTC after miscarriage - January 2020

Hello all (and late Merry Christmas!)

Looking for TTC buddies in a similar situation! 👋

In September I accidentally became pregnant. We had planned to begin TTC in Jan 2020 anyway, so we were really excited. Sadly, at my 12 week scan on 25th Nov, I found out I had had a missed miscarriage and the baby had stopped growing at about 9 weeks. The week that followed was one of the most traumatic in my life, having failed medical management and then an ERPC. All this happened whilst I was in another country.

Since then my recovery has been okay but all I can think about is wanting to be pregnant again and have been hoping and praying that my period returns soon so that we can officially start trying.

This morning I have had brown discharge and cramping, so it does feel like AF is on the way. So I guess I am going to count today as CD1 of my first official TTC cycle?

I wondered if anyone had been through anything similar and if so I am so sorry for your loss and what you had to go through. It really is a horrendous time. 💐

Anyone want to join me? 💕

@Anny27 did they make you have heparin injections after your erpc? I've been put on a ten day course and I can't figure out why, wondering if it's my bmi which is 26 so only just on the over weight side

Anny27 · 10/01/2020 13:45

@SwimMum91 sorry to hear of your third loss :( had an ERPC in November, physicalyy I felt quite weak for a few days (might be caused by the blood loss as the erpc was after 4 days of medical miscarriage) and was a little bit sore. Emotionally I was a mess for a week! Look after yourself 💗

@MilsCookie hopefully not too long for you then :) if my peak if today it will either be tonight or tomorrow that I actually ovulate!

@Michette ahh exciting, yep we wont be too far off! How are you feeling- any symptoms?

toomanyleggings · 10/01/2020 13:44

Hi @SwimMum91 how many weeks were you when you had the erpc? I had one last Thursday. I've been ok just up and down emotionally really

toomanyleggings · 10/01/2020 13:43

@Mammacooks thanks. Can't do much yet as still bleeding. I'm a bit worried about trying to conceive again because dh likes to instigate things and if he thinks there's too much of an agenda I don't think he'll be keen. I think this whole thing has put him off massively. When we were in the hospital waiting to be taken to theatre he said 'well I'm off sex for life after this' Confused

SwimMum91 · 10/01/2020 13:39

Hi please may I join.

I've just received the news of my third miscarriage. The first 2 happened naturally but this one I had an ERPC on Wednesday. I just can't help but feel like a failure.

Just wondered how you lot felt the few days following an ERPC?

thanks x

Mammacooks · 10/01/2020 13:23

@toomanyleggings
Sorry to hear you’ve been through this too. Hope you’re doing okay and looking after yourself it’s so tough isn’t it.
If you wait to get a negative on a pregnancy test you can test (if you are still getting a positive on a pregnancy test the same hormone will interferes with the OPKs giving you potentially a false positive), saying that I had a negative on a pregnancy test and then the OPKs were a bit up and down and gave me two surges... I got my period 31 days after my ERPC so I assume I must have ovulated somewhere around two weeks after my ERPC. The doctor told me to expect my period 4-6weeks after the ERPC so I suppose if you want to start TTC again perhaps the best method is to just start DTD regularly when you are ready. Fingers crossed x

toomanyleggings · 10/01/2020 13:13

Sorry I can't chase this back as this thread is so long but when did you guys ovulate after miscarriage? I'm only 7 days from
My erpc and still strong lines on pregnancy tests but I'm ridiculously impatient. I've ordered some clear blue digital tests as these worked first try for me but I don't think there's any point using them is there?

Michette · 10/01/2020 13:06

@anny27 awesome!!! Enjoy Smile
We ll be a few days apart in TWW

According to @Sparkl i should be at 5 dpo (for the impatient self) or 4dpo (more realistically!)

Cannot wait for some bfp in this group Grin

I ordered FRERs and they will only come on 15/01 so no temptation of testing too early

MilsCookie · 10/01/2020 12:53

@Anny27 yay that’s so exciting! Nope I don’t think I have yet...still no obvious signs. Just gonna keep dtd every day or at least every other day and hope for the best! If it doesn’t catch this month then I’ll look into getting OPKs next month 😊 I’m literally so excited for you to be in your TWW!

Hope everyone is doing okay - sorry this is a quick post! Xx 😘

@AlviesMam oh my I didn't realise the percentage was so low!!!! The amount that comes out to that percentage too! 😱😱

Anny27 · 10/01/2020 12:16

I am finally ovulating haha! (Got my LH surge positive today) - didnt dtd yesterday so will do tonight and then hopefully manage to catch it!!

@MilsCookie ovulated yet?

Sparkl · 10/01/2020 11:00

Sorry that probably doesn’t make sense at all.
So if I got peak OPK on Saturday morning then worst case Monday would be 1DPO.

Sparkl · 10/01/2020 10:56

@michette I was using CB ones (they stay solid peak for 48 hours after you get peak result) and when I got peak I was kind of considering that to be start of ovulation, so 24 hours after that being 1DPO, or if I was trying to restrain myself from testing then 48 hours after that being 1DPO but I don’t know if that’s right and had been wondering the same thing myself.

@Bath2020 did you get anywhere with an appointment? Hope you are doing ok.

hannahs87 · 10/01/2020 10:52

I think im out of the running for this month. I don't think i ovulated properly anyway sine the MMC and im still BF. I'm really tired, grumpy and wanting chocolate so all the signs that AF is coming... I'm so done with trying again, makes me angry but i so want to be pregnant.

Michette · 10/01/2020 10:21

Ladies

The TWW is starting to be long.

But- how do you calculate your dpo???
From day of surgestart? Day of peak? Day after?
Day after surge end?

My surge started saturday then peak was on Sunday and on Monday it was much lighter almost back to normal. Since my opks are very light.

So lost. When is the first dpo?

Michette · 10/01/2020 10:17

@BS9790 might be some hormonal issue?
The only time i had milk in my breast was because of a medication and not pregnant but other than that i dont really know...
Weird.

Bath2020 · 09/01/2020 23:29

@bs9790 I would have thought it was milk given the circs but epu not evaluating I would go to gp soon as you can and get it checked in case of any other issues coming to fore. Good luck

BS9790 · 09/01/2020 23:22

Odd question.. Has anyone experienced any nipple discharge? Mine started just after I was told pregnancy was non viable, but is still continuing now? Its a dark colour and only from one side?! EPU said it wasn't something they'd associate with miscarriage and to see a GP.

In regards to position, we just did whatever last time... Which is usually the ones with gravity not on our side... 😂Blush

Hope everyone is doing OK xx

AlviesMam · 09/01/2020 23:05

Does anyone know why flo (the app) gives you more fertile days in certain months. I log a 28 day cycle each month but don't understand how i had 10 fertile days last month and only have 7 this month?

Mammacooks · 09/01/2020 22:21

@bath2020 that sounds like a good plan. My consultant gave me all three options and let me choose. I, like you, found the continuous waiting really difficult and wanted it to be over. They can talk you through the options and you can choose what’s right for you. Good luck and sending a virtual hug!

Bath2020 · 09/01/2020 21:58

@StephyRose thank you that is so great you got the cycle back really quickly.

No I haven’t been presented with any options by my GP. She said it would happen in time and to take another week off work.

However for my mental health I literally cannot wait much longer. Patience is not my virtue either tbf but two weeks of medium bleeding and a sac still fully in place is getting to me now. I had not yet been with an obstetrician when this started happening so I am going to try and call the private maternity hospital in my city tomorrow and get the next available appointment with someone there. It’s my first pregnancy so I have no idea how this is supposed to go (not that every miscarriage is the same by any means) but I just need to be in a specialists care who will help me. Good luck to everyone this weekend xx

AlviesMam · 09/01/2020 21:49

@Sparkl

Yes I worry about gravity. After the whole legs In the air situation I have a special pillow to put under my hips to make sure
I'm kept tilted in case I fall asleep. Absolute fucking madness really 😂😂😂

FireflyGirl · 09/01/2020 21:37

Flowers to the people who have just joined us.

We do most positions, whichever we enjoy, but when we're ttc, I lift my legs afterwards and lay down for a while.

Sparkl · 09/01/2020 21:10

This thread is just like life atm, a rollercoaster of emotions! Flowers to all those still in the horrible place of very recent or ongoing MC but also for those giving me a laugh with tmi position conversations! And @ChampooPapi your post made me laugh too, so thank you! Hope no accidents have befallen your DP!

Good to know I’m not the only one thinking about gravity and dtd!

AlviesMam · 09/01/2020 20:57

@mlax I think I possibly am. I always get these pains around ovulation so I assume it is! I've never used OPK I've just sort of guessed and DTD every night up until a week before AF!

I've read sometimes you have a cycle where you don't ovulate but that's rare.

You think it would be easy to fall if between 20-400billion sperm enter In one load!! But no it's 25% bloody chance!!! How is that!!

I need to stop researching and just go with it 😂😂😂
