Hi guys

Not sure about anyone else but i have found that that i have tried posting on various threads and sometimes your own post gets really lost which can be slightly disheartening. I thought i would start this thread for anyone who has just started their TTC journey and together we can share our thoughts and experiences.... i do ask that (not to be mean) that this thread is only for people who have just started their TTC journey to avoid disappointment for people who are way into their journey and who may be experiencing different things. My own story is that i came of the pill in September and have yet to get my BFP. I got my first positive on Saturday just gone and now im 1dpo. Be great to hear from anyone in a similiar boat! Xx

Happy new year ladies!!!

Since AF still hasn’t shown and I’m definitely not pregnant, last night I let my hair down and got very very drunk to see in this new year. It was a fantastic night!
Moving forward me and OH are not going to be drinking this year, to improve our health and to TTC. Not that I’m a big drinker anyway, more of a once a month type thing.

Anyway! Is anyone else going to make any
changes to improve their chances this year?

Baby dust to everyone!!

Been following this thread since it started but havent made an account until now!

Decided to start TTC (trying to conceive) this month. DTD (doing the deed) on day 10/11/12 of my cycle as the Clue app says my fertile period would be between day 12 and 20 but Clue has been wrong a few times about my Cycle average and about days my AF is supposed to arrive so decided to take the fertile period with a pinch of SALT (speech and language therapy/therapist)!

since day 16, I had a few days of white milky discharge but not had the clear egg white discharge at all. I’m feeling nauseous all the time and lightheaded and a lot of left ovary side cramping which I’ve never had before. Also a very strong sense of smell which is odd for me. Generally feeling sluggish and tired.

How many DPO (days post ovulation) should I consider myself? My AF is due on 13th Jan according to Clue but could I test earlier?

Also forgot to add I had a lot of constipation/diarrhea and very bloated!

lunasunshine · 01/01/2020 13:25

@Echobear the Ava bracelet is something you wear at night and it measures your skin temperature and you can use it to track your cycle. It’s more convenient than measuring using a thermometer as you don’t have to wake up at a similar time everyday etc. but I’m really not sure how accurate it is and also it’s pretty pricey (around £300!) so I’m not sure that I would recommend it. I’ve been using it since August and no BFP yet. I think this month I’m going to chart the old fashioned way (pen and paper!) and see if Ava is predicting things correctly. I’ve not charted before personally so I still have a lot to learn!

@Sausage1990 Happy New Year! No advice for you I’m afraid but I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that the BFP sticks! Especially as you’ve had all those faint positive lines - surely that means something?!

@WednesdaySpinner welcome and good luck! I really hope that we all get the BFPs we desperately want this year! Smile

Sausage1990 · 01/01/2020 12:54

Happy New Year to you all!!!

Okay so tmi warning here... I need some advice.

So af has not arrived (due yesterday) so I did a test, well 2 tests, and I got a very faint 2nd line! However every time I wiped yesterday I had some very slightly brown cm, so I thought af must be imminent but so far she's not arrived.
I did another test this morning to double check I wasn't imagining the faint 2nd line and I got another faint 2nd line! But I've had brown discharge again today.

Yesterday I used a tesco one, and a frer. I didn't have any frer left so I did a tesco one again and a cheap one step test... Both with very faint positives.

I'm going to wait and see what happens over the next few days and if af doesn't show up I'll retest on Friday I think... Has anyone had any experience of having a faint BFP, then brown cm but still being pregnant??

Hope you all well and let's hope 2020 is the year for all our BFPs!!!! Xx

Echobear · 31/12/2019 11:06

Thank you @Sausage1990 I am going to hold off now had a good word with myself last night lol
@lunasunshine at the moment I just use the tracking app Clue, which for ovulation I don't think is very accurate.. I need to see how I get on with that or I'll maybe try something else! What is the Ava bracelet? Going to Google that now lol

WednesdaySpinner · 31/12/2019 10:13

Hello everyone, can I join you all please? I am currently ttc #1 and am nearing the end of my tww (AF is due towards the end of the week). I'm desperately trying to hold off testing and just waiting to see if AF appears, I have had zero symptoms this month though and so I don't expect anything. I haven't been using OPK's but have been using three different apps, two of which put my ovulation date 1 day apart and the other puts it the week before with no overlap at all on the fertile window. I'm trying to keep as relaxed as possible and will just dtd every few days next month throughout Jan, however like others have said it is easier said than done!! Wishing everyone good luck!

jenna30 · 31/12/2019 09:01

@Sammiantha2020 yes definitely! Especially during the TWW. I always think each cycle that i'm going to take a relaxed approach without using any methods but then i start stressing out. Stress is not great either as it can prevent ovulation but how can you not when there is such a short window in a month to get pregnant. If you find a way to relax please let me know 😛😂.

Can I ask what you ladies are using to track your cycle (if you are?). I have the Ava bracelet which I’ve been using since August but not sure how accurate it is!

Sausage1990 · 30/12/2019 23:22

Hi @Echobear welcome.
I was the same testing 9pdo, the tww feels so long especially the 1st one I think. Try to hold off until af is due to reduce your risk of disappointment.
🤞🏻For you that this is your month. Xx

Echobear · 30/12/2019 23:14

Hi all! Sorry I've just jumped on and not read through all the comments but I've just started this month TTC with #1... Af is due Saturday I'm 9dpo today and of course tried a frer and it was a bfn Hmm no surprise as its still too early!! I had came off the pill in august and my last 3 periods seem to be normal so we thought we would give it a go!
I've been driving myself absolutely crazy thinking am I or aren't I pregnant!
I really hope 2020 will be our year ladies! Flowers

Sammiantha2020 · 30/12/2019 23:12

@jenna30 do you ever feel we just stress ourselves out with the testing, checking cm, symptom spotting etc? Every month before falling pregnant I’d say I was going with the relaxed approach then I’d just panic that it would be a missed opportunity if I didn’t fetch my OPKs 🤣.

jenna30 · 30/12/2019 22:52

@EithneBlue 😂😂. I hope the 'oil' helps. My cycle this month is exactly the same as last month which is 31 days. When i did my opk on CD15 this month it was positive which makes sense with the length of my cycle. Just helps me more this month with having more of an idea where to start testing this month which is useful as last month i did it everyday and started testing really early which was doing my nut in.

@Sammiantha2020 i read somewhere that Brazilian nuts can help with fertility but I'm not getting too excited about it. I just thought i would give it a try. No harm in trying i guess.

OP posts:
Sammiantha2020 · 30/12/2019 22:35

@EithneBlue we are very close cd wise. I started tracking again last month, however my cycle lasted 33 days, but it’s all a bit messed up after my surgical management... god knows if I’m even ovulating again 🤷‍♀️ hopefully my new bbt will help confirm that!
I think everyone’s different when it comes to CM, but no harm in using some preseed as it can’t do any harm, right?

EithneBlue · 30/12/2019 22:19

@jenna30 I thought 'oil' was funnier! My cm seems OK post-pill: EWCM matched OPK -- but I have not been off it all that long (October) and my cycle length hasn't quite been consistent (28, 26) so who knows if the CM is genuinely matching ovulation. Give it a little longer- I think for some women it takes a little time for your hormones to balance back out.

@Sammiantha2020 I'm CD4 TTC#1 - this will be cycle 3 but cycle 2 of properly trying the first cycle I just sort of hoped for the best and tracked nothing. Last month I tracked things and did the OPKs but I think perhaps my timing was off anyway. This group is lovely so far it's nice to be able to discuss things like CM without being socially inappropriate 😂

Sammiantha2020 · 30/12/2019 22:17

Hey @jenna30 ☺️. It’s been hard, but reading these threads have gotten me through some tough times (even before I joined). I came to realise that I’m just one of many that goes through that ordeal everyday 😔.
Are Brazilian nuts meant to help with conceiving? I must buy some ASAP 🤣...I have my pre seed, OPKs and bbt ready for Jan...I make it sound so much fun.

jenna30 · 30/12/2019 22:10

Not sure why i said pre-seed 'oil' 🙄 i mean pre-seed lubricant as my cm is awful since stopping the pill. Anyone else experiencing this or experienced it?

jenna30 · 30/12/2019 22:08

@EithneBlue 😂😂 happy new year it is! Bleeding 🩸.i totally expected it though i just knew even before af was due it wasn't my month. I may as well try something different with a new cycle. DH came home with some Brazilian nuts and ive just ordered pre-seed oil. 😂 not sure if any of this will help but at this point i would try anything.

@Sammiantha2020 in sorry chick to hear about your MMC. I hope the new year brings you good news. Baby dust to you. It definitely does help having this group especially as we are all going through the same thing.

@swirls3468 no old wives tales but I'm trying the above this month. Doubtful it will work but also hopeful it MAY work. Fingers crossed.

Sammiantha2020 · 30/12/2019 22:01

Hi @EithneBlue 👋. I really hope it’s everyone’s year! I’m currently on cd3 and after an emotional few months, I’m feeling much more positive! Where are you with ttc? I’m looking for someone to chat with through the happy/sad times of the emotional rollercoaster that is ttc.

swirls3468 · 30/12/2019 21:52

How's everyone doing?
My AF due early January so will see what happens, I've tried this month but don't feel pregnant, they say when you know you know ???
Anyway
Has anyone got any interesting / old wives tale tips for ttc? Aside from putting your hips on a pillow! Tried that one!!
Baby dust to you all 🥰

EithneBlue · 30/12/2019 21:52

Hi @Sammiantha2020 - welcome, and sorry to hear of your previous loss :-( fingers crossed this is the year for you -- when will be the beginning of your cycle to begin trying? :-)

EithneBlue · 30/12/2019 21:49

@FirsttimeTTC @Sausage1990 - I think you're right about symptom spotting and thinking too much into symptoms especially if, like me, you've been on the pill or coil or whatever for many years and so all these symptoms and feelings are relatively new as your cycle adjusts I know I have been analysing every twinge when normally I wouldn't even worry or notice.

Sammiantha2020 · 30/12/2019 21:40

Hi Girls 🤗. Can I join you all? I’m new to this and currently TTC baby no1. Unfortunately we suffered a mmc in Oct at 11 wks. I feel like Jan is a new start, and it’s now time to try again. Would be lovely to have all you lovely ladies to chat with along the way as there’s not many people know our situation. Fingers crossed 2020’s everyones yr x

EithneBlue · 30/12/2019 21:40

@jenna30 Ew... happy new year, love from AF! I'm on CD4 now and reading up on SMEP - if nothing else, it'll be fun trying! According to my OPKs I ovulated on CD12 last month but I wonder if that was not quite right and it was actually later than I thought - this month I might test on cheapie OPKs all the way through and watch for any anomalies.
Or I just have an insatiable desire to POAS that needs to be satisfied somewhere, somehow.

Sausage1990 · 30/12/2019 21:06

@FirsttimeTTC oh I know. It'll happen when you're least prepared too. I hope af makes her mind up. Being in limbo is horrible but you're right it's likely your body readjusting.

I think part of it is us wishing it to be early symptoms but also we're likely reading into everything that we wouldn't usually pay any attention to. 🤞🏻 We go either way soon enough so we can get on with the next cycle 😊

FirsttimeTTC · 30/12/2019 20:58

@sausage1990 its as if we can think ourselves into giving us symptoms!? I was so sure I had symptoms, but nope! This month is long! 23 days late for AF. But I think my body is getting used to not having the coil, so just giving it time. Never wanted AF so badly!! Knowing my luck, it will come when I’m out on NYD and be the worst AF of my life 😂😂 xx
