Hi guys

Not sure about anyone else but i have found that that i have tried posting on various threads and sometimes your own post gets really lost which can be slightly disheartening. I thought i would start this thread for anyone who has just started their TTC journey and together we can share our thoughts and experiences.... i do ask that (not to be mean) that this thread is only for people who have just started their TTC journey to avoid disappointment for people who are way into their journey and who may be experiencing different things. My own story is that i came of the pill in September and have yet to get my BFP. I got my first positive on Saturday just gone and now im 1dpo. Be great to hear from anyone in a similiar boat! Xx

@EithneBlue So true!!! 💕

EithneBlue · 12/01/2020 17:48

@MrsH0692 Don't do it! Imagine all the nice things you could buy with the £5 an FRER costs ;)

MrsH0692 · 12/01/2020 17:37

I’m CD 23 , according to flo I ovulated CD12, however I got a positive OPK CD 14. So still in that horrible TWW, desperate to test but knowing it will be a complete waste of time.

I’ve been so so moody and angry, but I have just done night shifts so that could explain that! Tender boobs but other than that, nothing. My last cycle was only 23 days so based on that, AF is due on Thursday. So we shall see!!

Anyone think I should test now?! 🤣🤣

EithneBlue · 12/01/2020 15:58

Hey guys, just thought of you all over the weekend so thought I would check in and see how everyone is doing :)
I'm having a slightly weird cycle this month - I'm on CD 17 but haven't had any positive OPKs. That said, I've been ridiculously busy and so some days I've gone more than 24 hours between tests by testing early on one day and much later on another, as well as being January-healthy and drinking much more water (last month I had a positive on CD12, and Ovia has assumed from my logging of CM that I must have ovulated around the 6th/7th - CD11/12 - which would fit with the cramping I had and also the start of term meaning I was off-kilter with my OPKs).
That said, I've had some more EWCM yesterday and this morning and cramping, so either Ovia is wrong about ovulation, something suspicious is occurring, or my brain is playing tricks on me again.

@jenna30 - Good to see you back! Where are you at with your cycle? I think my last month being shorter might have put us a little out of sync with one another as you were already due AF later than me (I think: too lazy to go back and check). I hear you on the frustration of other people getting pregnant so quick: I might have said this earlier, but a very good friend of mine literally DTD once and knocked up his wife first try. He knows I'm TTC and can't understand that this is now month 3 without contraception and I'm still not pregnant! I did, out of curiosity look up the statistics for how long it takes and found an interesting study:
"According to a 2003 study published in the journal Human Reproduction, when 346 women ages 20 to 44 timed their intercourse to help them conceive, they had a 38 percent chance of conceiving in one cycle, a 68 percent chance within three cycles, an 81 percent chance within six cycles and a 92 percent chance of getting pregnant within 12 cycles." -- so each month your chances do seem to go up (although I am clearly not a statistician).

The thing I'm finding hard is that I'm quite active and would usually have some summer adventures planned by now there's a few things I have been reluctant to commit to because there's that little "what if?" voice in the back of my head but then if I don't conceive, will I be annoyed at myself for missing out for no reason?
That said, I've just booked a holiday over Easter, because I figure that I'll be safe to go anyway, whatever the outcome.

@Nat4392 awhh i feel your pain as I'm the same during tww. It sounds positive though with the few symptoms you have had. Fingers crossed. I had none during my tww last cycle so i knew i hadn't conceived. Thank you i hope it happens soon for us all.

@jenna30 yes it’s just so hard. I know 4 months is still completely normal but it feels like a lifetime. It’s completely taken over my life, everyday I wake up and think “what day if my cycle is it?” It’s driving me mad!
I’ve been tracking ovulation and had cramps around 7DPO and had sore boobs the last 2 days. Although I don’t want to look into it too much as I’m a serial symptom spotter and don’t want to get ahead of myself. Hoping for BFPs for you too 😊

jenna30 · 11/01/2020 22:26

@Nat4392 its so difficult isn't it. Even though i haven't been trying long it feels like forever and to hear my SIL say they didn't expect it to happen so quick, hurts. I haven't tracked using opk this month as i wanted to take the relaxed approach but now that i have heard this news I'm starting to stress again. TWW is the worst. I hope you get a bfp at the end of it.

Similar thing for me. Got married in October so stopped the pill in September. Currently on my 4th cycle TTC. The whole thing is driving me insane!
My best friend started trying in December and caught first time which disheartened me quite a lot (I’m obviously so happy for her but it also stings a bit).
Currently around 9/10 DPO, this TWW is a bitch!

jenna30 · 11/01/2020 21:41

@Lucy5546 I have just seen this. Congratulations 😀 so exciting and happy for you. Wish you the all the best. X

@Sausage1990 hiya sorry I've been quiet this last two weeks. I have been trying to take it more easy this month. Did af arrive for you? How are you doing? Ive just come back from a meal at my in laws and my SIL just announced she is pregnant. And she only stopped the pill in October and she is shocked it happened so quick. I was obviously happy but it did sting especially as it happened so quick. As much as i was relaxed this month this announcement has made me feel quite shit.

@WednesdaySpinner thanks for the encouragement 😁. Last week I was really going through it! But this week I'm now just waiting to see if my period is coming or not. Since my cycles have been wonky these past two cycles, all my apps are all over the place with predictions 😒. Based on that, one app says I'm two days late. Another one has me starting today (their following a 27-29 day cycle since mine are normally 28-29, but they accounted for the 26 and 20 months) and then since I had a 2nd, higher LH peak on cd22, my testing apps say I'm not to see my cycle until the 23rd! THAT'S 39-40 days!!! I've NEVER had a cycle that long! I tested with cheapies yesterday and it still is a BFN so I'm not gonna drive myself crazy. Now I'm just playing the 'Pregnant or Period' game 🤔.

WednesdaySpinner · 11/01/2020 09:53

AF arrived yesterday a week late, which means that my fertile window on the apps was actually a week early, no wonder I got BFN this month! I'm away with family this week and so will enjoy the break and start again when AF has finished.

@swife I was in a similar position to you earlier in the year and spent a number of months in a real state worrying about it. I know that it is easier said than done but please please try not to worry about it as speaking from experience, it just makes things so much worse. It sounds like you have found someone who does understand though and so the fact that she seems so confident must be a massive relief!

myttcjourney · 09/01/2020 17:28

@Shaunab16 that's a good sign that your tired 🤞🏼

1st month TTC I was crying, tired, irrational, sore boobs. Was utterly convinced and it was a BFN so now I don't symptom spot at all. I can convince myself of anything 😂

This is pretty much the last month before we do ivf privately, already had the consultation, so if AF shoes I will start the process xx

Swife · 09/01/2020 16:40

@myttcjourney, @Shaunab16, thanks for the baby dust and positive vibes. I know I'm driving DH crazy 😜 while in this TTW. I do trust my OBGYN if not for her, my Endo would have been left undiagnosed. If we're out this month from the craziness, I will see her. I just started the LH testing this cycle and I may go back to temping too if my sleep is really back on track.

Shaunab16 · 09/01/2020 15:00

@Swife So sorry to hear of your struggle, wishing you all the luck with TTC... we all will have our time it's just the bloody wait Sad

@myttcjourney I'm itching to do a test, I'm the exact same 8DPO... 6 days until AF. I have had a few symptoms but I'm trying to not read into them. I've found myself so tired this week, I had a nap yesterday from 5pm - 8pm then went to bed at 11:30pm and woke up at 7am this morning and I honestly felt so tired still... ridiculous haha. A lot of people don't always have symptoms that early so don't give up hope yet Smile

This TWW seems to be dragging along so slowly

myttcjourney · 09/01/2020 14:40

@Shaunab16 god it's like hell. I have zero symptoms and am 8dpo

Not going to test just going to wait for af, but time is dragging so badly. I'm not feeling like it's my month. Everyone always seems to have symptoms really early

How are you doing xx

FirsttimeTTC · 09/01/2020 14:40

Hi @swife & welcome! I’m so sorry to hear you have been through so much!
Unfortunately, I have no idea what could be going on with your ovulation and bleeding? Wish I could be more help!!
At least you have this thread now to keep you company through TTC, I’ve found it’s a lot easier to talk to people who are going through a similar thing. Your obgyn seems confident that you will be able to conceive so hopefully it’s not the menopause!
Sending lots of baby dust xx

Swife · 08/01/2020 16:49

Hi. I would like to join this thread. I'm just this month age 39. Since age 22 I've had 2 ectopics with a tube being removed 😒, 1 MC and 1 non viable in July when I went off Endo meds to start TTC. Up until Nov., my cycles have been consistent at 28-29 days with 4 day bleeds. My Endo meds completely stopped my cycles until I stopped taking them. My OBGYN has me on Letrozole and Progesterone to aid in our TTC journey. In Nov. I had a 26 day cycle with a 2 day bleed and come Dec. I had a 20 day cycle with a 3 day bleed. I stopped temping since I have insomnia and my sleep was always off and started with OPKs this cycle. My first test showed peak at .89 on cd7(the day I started testing) so we been doing the BD since, with some breaks. On CD18 we BD'd and afterwards noticed blood. No clots and it lasted til cd19 then completely stopped. Fast forward to cd22 and I get a 1.23 peak lh surge 😕! 6 days before expected period! Can that even happen?! Since that surge I've still been testing my LH and all my HCG tests have been BFN(the tests are AccuMed online cheapies). I also had what I thought were period cramps since the second surge. I did contact my OBGYN with all this info with pics and all she said was "call me when you get a BFP". Now I'm waiting for my period to start, praying I'm not going through menopause, obsessing over POAS and driving my DH crazy with me 😜!

Shaunab16 · 08/01/2020 16:07

@FirsttimeTTC I came off the mini pill late October and we both agreed we would just let fate do its thing then December we started to actively try and now I'm obsessed haha.

FirsttimeTTC · 08/01/2020 15:06

@shaunab16 it’s mad isn’t it! Only since November, but it’s something we have wanted to start trying for ages! How about you?

Shaunab16 · 08/01/2020 14:35

@FirsttimeTTC 55!!! Fingers crossed it's a one-off... oh how the female body works ay. Sperm can live inside a woman for up to 3/5 days, it may be worth DTD every few days so there's no chance of missing it? How long have you been TTC if you don't mind me asking?

FirsttimeTTC · 08/01/2020 14:12

@shaunab16 fab ok thank you!
Not too sure how many days as my last cycle was 55! But I think that was a one off (hope so anyway). I’m using OPKs to try my best not to miss it

Shaunab16 · 08/01/2020 14:07

@FirsttimeTTC The first episode is a little raunchy but it turns more informative rather than just sex haha.

How many days until ovulation begins?

FirsttimeTTC · 08/01/2020 13:58

Ooh thanks @shaunab16 I’ll def get OH to watch it with me!!

Counting down the days til ovulation now Grin

Shaunab16 · 08/01/2020 12:35

MrsH0692 Yess definitely!!

Yee exactly - it's not something you completely understand in school so it was like an adult science lesson haha.
