Hi guys

Not sure about anyone else but i have found that that i have tried posting on various threads and sometimes your own post gets really lost which can be slightly disheartening. I thought i would start this thread for anyone who has just started their TTC journey and together we can share our thoughts and experiences.... i do ask that (not to be mean) that this thread is only for people who have just started their TTC journey to avoid disappointment for people who are way into their journey and who may be experiencing different things. My own story is that i came of the pill in September and have yet to get my BFP. I got my first positive on Saturday just gone and now im 1dpo. Be great to hear from anyone in a similiar boat! Xx

@FirsttimeTTC i don't think there is a definite answer ( if anyone else knows please do tell) but from other threads i have read some people get ewcm for a couple of days and as soon as you notice it you should BD that day. I would say bd on the day you have noticed it and maybe the day after? To cover all bases. If you keep seeing it for a few days i would bd every other day until it clears up. Sorry if i wasn't much help i also asked the same thing two days ago.

Quick question - how long after seeing EWCM for the first time do you ovulate?
If it’s straight away I’m worried because we didn’t BD last night but we did for the two days before?

jenna30 · 14/01/2020 12:35

@peachypetite i know and that that it has become a chore. This cycle i have opk tested much and instead i have just been trying to dtd every other day during my fertile window. I plan on continuing this until af arrives in case i have ovulated later. When i tested last cycle on cd15 i had a positive but this cycle i haven't had one unless i ovulated earlier in the month (i hope i didn't). Sorry if you have mentioned this earlier but where are you in your cycle?

k so I went worried about my cycles and came out with a referral to have a colonoscopy done 😒. Let me explain 😁.

I noticed some black tarry substance in my poop(TMI SRY😔) and my OBGYN is worried the my Endometriosis is flaring up and since it can dump blood ANYWHERE in the body, she wants to be sure it didn't go there and she wants to check for other causes of old blood being there.

So I did do a complete blood to check for pregnancy as well as my Progesterone levels(because the older we get the lower our progesterone gets). Since I'm 38 my strange cycle the past 2 and now may be due to low Progesterone. So she up'ed it from 200 to 400mg every day instead of on cd13-25.

I call tomorrow for my results and then go back Wednesday for a sonogram so that she can check to make sure I don't have any cysts(I had that when she first met me and then quickly diagnosed me with Endometriosis).

It would be nice to hear I gotta go back to check my HCG levels 🤞🏽.

So awhile go last year in fact i mentioned in passing to my SIL that we would be ready to try in a year. But she or anyone else dont know that we've actively been trying the last few months which is a blessing to be honest. After she made her announcement she did say "oh you guys need to bring your a game because her baby will need friends" and i was thinking i wish you have no idea. I guess its a blessing for you also that following your conversation with your sister she has no inclination that you guys are trying. It helps when no one knows. TTC is already stressful without having other people knowing you are trying. That's why im thankful for this group i guess because we can all relate to each other.

@jenna30 yeah for sure. I think keeping this ttc journey a secret is difficult in many ways but it does take the pressure off. Im trying to see it as when we do conceive we'll be able to surprise our friends and family with happy news that they're not expecting.

Do you think your families may have an inkling that you're trying or thinking of trying soon?

I was chatting to my sister the other day after visiting our mutual friends new baby girl and we were discussing our cousins (we're all girls and within a similar age range) and she said I think we're all going to have babies around the same time. I was like oh do you that's interesting and she said yes well 2 of the girls want to be married 1st (and neither are engaged) and I need to meet someone 1st then our other 2 cousins aren't in any rush as they're enjoying travelling with their OH (husband and fiancé), and you're not in any rush because you've got home reno stuff happening soon so I think we'll all be later.... I was like hmm yeah true we will all be together.

I was really surprised about her observations because I thought she would guess... Apparently not. My broodiness is apparently internal and no-one noticed how the little broody monster inside was purring happily while I was cuddling my friends 4 weeks of daughter!!! 😉

jenna30 · 13/01/2020 08:49

@Sausage1990 awh I'm sorry to hear that af arrived. My cycle have been around 30/31 days so not too far off from you. It helps when oh's are supportive. Everyone has down days and its fine to feel like that. Im glad like you said that we have this group where we can vent which helps.

Once my af around last cycle i went all quiet too on the group. I found out it easy to chill for awhile once af arrives because theres nothing you can do for a week or so and then the whole process starts again. Wishing you lots of baby dust for this cycle.

@peachypetite i was down because of sil annoucement. But feel much better today a new day and a new start.

Its better not tell anyone because then you don't have that pressure. We haven't told anyone either (thank god). So when sil made the announcement i would've felt a lot worse if she knew we were trying.

Sausage1990 · 13/01/2020 01:47

Hi @jenna30 sorry for the delay in my reply. Ive not been on for a day or 2 just chilling post period...

Af arrived for me 6 days late... As I'd had a positive test the previous week I was really quite upset but my OH was great and just gave me lots of hugs while I had a bit of a sad day. I would have been 5 weeks the day af arrived which I know is early but we'd had a week of trying to not get ahead of ourselves because it was a faint positive but so totally getting ahead of ourselves (if you know what I mean).

Anyway af arrived and I'm now on CD 8 and about 13 - 15 days until ovulation. I have longer cycles at around 35days so I've got a few weeks to go yet. So just trying to relax and look after myself. How are you Jenna?

I totally get where you're coming from after your SILs announcement... Such lovely news but bitter sweet for you too. Friends of ours just announced their 2nd pregnancy and where like it happened really quickly, quicker than we thought. Both their pregnancies were conceived 1st try which is such a blessing... Its just hard not to ask why can't we be so lucky.
It's a funny head space but doesn't mean you're not happy for them.

I'm just glad this is a safe space to share all those thoughts and feelings without judgement ❤️

peachypetite · 12/01/2020 22:59

Oh no, down about TTC or something else? It really can, can’t it, it’s nice having people on here to talk to about it. I’ve not told anyone in real life that we are trying because I don’t want the pressure

jenna30 · 12/01/2020 22:52

@peachypetite sex can become so clinical. Ive been feeling down today anyway and because of that I've hardly spoken to dh hence the reluctance to be like 'hey lets bd'. So difficult.

OP posts:
peachypetite · 12/01/2020 22:48

Yeh I think it’s a good idea to DTD in a fairly large window around the flo app as it may not be exactly correct. We’ve done most days with a couple of days off so a little more than every other. It’s hard when you’re not really in the mood but know you have to - never seen sex as a chore before!

jenna30 · 12/01/2020 22:44

I just hate putting pressure on dh. But i guess needs must 😛😂.

OP posts:
FirsttimeTTC · 12/01/2020 22:42

@jenna30 yeah just bd as much as you both can!! It can be very exhausting 😂
I can’t upload a pic because earlier I got so frustrated I threw them all in the bin 😂 but I will keep them from tomorrow onwards to track (again) and hopefully spot a positive 🤞

FirsttimeTTC · 12/01/2020 22:40

@peachypetite haha yeah to be honest, I agree the OPKs are so confusing. My Flo app is saying I’ll ovulate around Wednesday so just gonna keep going. We have been DTD every other day but I’m worried we will miss it so I want to do it every day but I also don’t want to put too much pressure on DP ☹️

jenna30 · 12/01/2020 22:39

@FirsttimeTTC hiya it wasn't as dark as the control line so i took it has negative. Just noticed the ewcm now so not sure if i should bd today or do it tomorrow. Or just keep doing it for the next few says 😂.

Also you will know when the opk test is a positive i was the same last month and was confused until it showed up really dark one day and it was way obvious. Only then did i know i got my first positive. Can you upload a pic?

OP posts:
peachypetite · 12/01/2020 22:36

@firsttime no I haven’t bothered because I’ve read quite a few people on here saying they were confusing and I don’t want to get obsessive! I’ve been having sex like a crazy woman this week 😂 meant to have ovulated this weekend according to my app.

FirsttimeTTC · 12/01/2020 22:33

@jenna30 are your OPKs close to peak? I think if you’re ovulating today then you’d be fine with yesterday as the sperm lives for a few days anyway?

FirsttimeTTC · 12/01/2020 22:32

@peachypetite how are you doing? Are you using OPKs this month? I’m so confused with mine! They are quite dark but not progressing just consistently dark!

jenna30 · 12/01/2020 22:23

Any advice appreciated... i just noticed ewcm. I did an opk test today and it was negative. Should i bd today? And how often should i bd? We dtd yesterday and really i wanted to give the oh a break today but now that i have noticed ewcm im not sure if we should do it today?

Swife · 12/01/2020 21:28

@jenna30 I will keep you ladies updated. All our experiences can help each other in our journey to motherhood.😁

jenna30 · 12/01/2020 20:13

@EithneBlue that is so true! Italy sounds amazing and the marathon sounds tough but I'm guessing your are a keen runner? We dtd yesterday and we plan on doing it every other day. So we will see what happens. Are you going to opk test over the next few days?

OP posts:
EithneBlue · 12/01/2020 19:59

@jenna30 - I think expecting it to take longer and hoping it doesn't take longer are two conflicting emotions! I play it off a bit but I was kind of gutted to get AF last month. Don't worry about the stress too much, though: I think it's a bit of an old wives tale to stop women from doing anything fun. "Don't be upset, your womb might shrivel up and die." How else do you explain sports stars and serving military personnel getting knocked up on the job? Take the OPKs, do the deed often and keep your fingers crossed.

My last 2 cycles (the two complete cycles that were off the pill) have been 28 days and then 26 days so not exactly the same but not wildly irregular, either. I put 27 days into Ovia as my estimated cycle length, but if I did ovulate on CD11 or 12 this time, that would fit with another 26 day cycle. This seems to be following the same pattern generally, though aside from that odd extra EWCM -- I had slight AF-like cramps post-ovulation last month and have again this month. We shall see, I guess.

The holiday is fine (we are going to Italy for 6 nights): it is my desire to do marathons and multi-day endurance events that is the issue!

jenna30 · 12/01/2020 19:10

@Swife good luck for tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you. Keep us updated.

OP posts:
jenna30 · 12/01/2020 19:09

@EithneBlue Thank you. Im CD14 and this cycle i have been the same as you i haven't really tested for ovulation. When i heard the news yesterday it really got me and i spent the whole day today totally down and feeling sorry for myself (which is completely ridiculous i know). Thing is the study you mentioned i have read that too and i did kind of expect it to take a few months but i think just hearing the news yesterday totally got to me (particularly when SIL said it happened so quickly) Im hoping tomorrow is good day. I plan on testing tomorrow as last month i got my positive on my opk test on cd15 which will be tomorrow for me. Having said that i wouldn't be surprised if its different this month with me being stressed this last day. Fingers crossed.

I think its great that you have booked a holiday. Its important not to put your life on hold. Are you heading anywhere nice? Im off to a spa retreat this Thursday and Friday which i am looking forward to. Are your length in cycles fairly similar each month? Mine was 31 days and then 30 days last cycle. So I'm hoping that I'm the same this month and if so my opk test tomorrow should be positive.

Update: sent a message to my OBGYN and going off of my pregnancy history and following my normal cycle of 28-29 days, I'm technically late.
I have to go in tomorrow and get a blood pregnancy test, then another one on Wednesday and then a sonogram on Thursday. I also have to take 200mg of progesterone vaginally, every 8 hrs until we figure out if I'm pregnant or not.
