Hi guys

Not sure about anyone else but i have found that that i have tried posting on various threads and sometimes your own post gets really lost which can be slightly disheartening. I thought i would start this thread for anyone who has just started their TTC journey and together we can share our thoughts and experiences.... i do ask that (not to be mean) that this thread is only for people who have just started their TTC journey to avoid disappointment for people who are way into their journey and who may be experiencing different things. My own story is that i came of the pill in September and have yet to get my BFP. I got my first positive on Saturday just gone and now im 1dpo. Be great to hear from anyone in a similiar boat! Xx

@FirsttimeTTC YEESSS! Since it had been now 3 off cycles, I had been getting very worried that I may bee premenopausal 🤔. So it is a huge relief that we didn't have to start that discussion 💆🏽‍♀️. DH can breath better to he's always concerned about my health. Especially while TTC and my health history. GGIRRLLL!!! THAT TWW IS THE WORST😫! But I I believe that you can at least make to 10dpo🤞🏽😂.

@peachypetite thanks ☺️. I find that ginger, in any form, is good along peppermint(hard candy or tea) and Apple Cider Vinegar works. I don't like the taste of the ACV but the other two are my go to. Hope you find relief.

peachypetite · 15/01/2020 21:49

That’s good swife.
I’m finding folic acid is upsetting my stomach and making me bloat, anyone else?

FirsttimeTTC · 15/01/2020 20:14

@Swife at least this long cycle is coming to an end soon and that you know everything’s all good to get BDing next cycle! It must be so reassuring to have a dr so helpful! A year ago I was suffering massive pains throughout my cycle and had been for over a year then. My drs were not much help! They told me time and time again it couldn’t be my coil as it was in the right place but I had my coil removed and had instant relief.

All good here! Had my positive OPK today/last night so I’m going to dtd again tonight (can’t tomorrow) and then we’ve done all that we can! I already know this TWW is going to be a LONG wait and I’ll be POAS all the time. I really want to wait until at least 12dpo but will probably only make it to 10dpo.

Swife · 15/01/2020 19:38

@FirsttimeTTC Thanks, I feel so much better about things. Well since my OBGYN did confirm that I ovulated, and I know my LutealPhase is 14 days when my cycles are normal, I expect to start on the 23rd. It puts me at a 39 day cycle. My normal is 28-29days! But my doc says it should be back to normal once I get back on my Endometriosis diet and my fitness track.
How have things been going for you?☺️

FirsttimeTTC · 15/01/2020 19:29

@Swife that’s amazing news!! I’m so happy for you! I bet you must feel so relieved. When is AF due?

Swife · 15/01/2020 18:59

Got some good news today. I had my sonogram done and, hooray!, my uterus is PERFECT! And I am, in fact, ovulating. I still need to schedule the colonoscopy but I'm good and just waiting for my AF to arrive so we can start again.
My doc feels like I went wonky because, in my depression from the last loss, I went off track with keeping my Endometriosis diet so this is a flare. I'm getting back on track TODAY!

I hope everyone one else is doing well in their journey as well.

FirsttimeTTC · 15/01/2020 17:41

I’ve attached my OPKs over the last 24 hours (ish). It must be so easy to miss your peak!
I got my darkest positive today at 1:30pm (darker than control line) and then by 5:30 it was slightly lighter.
Now I’m stumped with when I can say my Ovulation day is? Tomorrow?
I’m only so concerned as we can BD tonight but not tomorrow ☹️ And I also want to know for the TWW as we have been very active this week and I’m feeling hopeful! 😂

.....how do people track?
I have used OPKs and BBTs before, but want to be a bit more relaxed this time.... At least to start with.... I think part of the lack of success before was stressing/obsessing.....
However, I do think an app would be good. But what? Help me!!

FirsttimeTTC · 15/01/2020 13:36

@carrot88 @hannah17381 welcome!!
My cycles are normally regular but last month it was abnormally long. So my Flo cycles were off a bit, hence using OPKs. However, Flo still managed to predict my ov day as I was expected to ovulate today and got my positive OPK last night. It may be off by a day or so but it is easier to know for sure that the app is correct.
Having said that, I find OPKs super confusing and a bit of hassle. I knew I had ovulation coming as I had ewcm so I started testing twice a day. Yesterday afternoon it was negative and then last night it was positive so it can be a bit of a faff.
Sending baby dust to you both!!

carrot88 · 15/01/2020 13:09

@hannah17381 yay Smile I'm hoping it doesn't take too long either - this is intense and I'm only on cycle #1!! Xx

hannah17381 · 15/01/2020 13:05

@carrot88 yay another older person!
I'm hoping we can beat the take longer trend. I don't think my sanity can take a long wait. I ended up a little TTC crazy last time.
I'm about to turn 39 and trying for number 1 child
Xx

carrot88 · 15/01/2020 11:49

I'd like to join too please ladies if possible?

We only started trying this month but it's amazing how it becomes so obsessive so quickly! I'm 39 and the DH is 40 so we know we are statistically likely to take a while to conceive...currently in the 2WW - think I am about 4DPO currently but because I didn't test I don't entirely know! I guess I just wait to see if AF arrives!

I've been using Flo for a few months to try and track ovulation dates but I've not been doing any OPK testing - do I need to start doing that? Thinking of trying the SMEP method next month if this cycle isn't successful.

So nice to have people in the same boat to talk to - we haven't told anyone we are TTC - mostly I think to avoid any expectations or awkward conversations if it doesn't happen...

Sophietcc · 15/01/2020 10:52

Hi ladies can i join please?

I came of the pill in October and no luck so far. This cycle I've taken a more relaxed approach to ttc and rather than track ovulation properly i have just bd every other day. Though i did start opk testing a few days ago around the ovulation day according to my app but it came up negative. So going to keep testing and bd'ing every other day. Baby dust to everyone!

Sophietcc · 15/01/2020 10:45

@FirsttimeTTC definitely a positive!

FirsttimeTTC · 15/01/2020 09:58

@Vikki90 oh I know! Clear blue is soo expensive. I’m not sure what they are called but they were a pack of 50 for £7 or something like that! Have a look on amazon!

Vikki90 · 15/01/2020 07:54

This looks positive to me! Can I ask which sticks you are using as I want to try something different - clear blue is like paying for a second mortgage 🤣 xx

Vikki90 · 15/01/2020 07:53

@peachypetite @Sausage1990 @FirsttimeTTC hi guys! Thanks for your replies - I think this whole TTC is sending me insane haha! I have been tracking my cycles on Flo (I am from England too) and have even tried the clear blue ovulation sticks the last couple of cycles (keep getting the flashing smiley but no peak static smiley) not sure if anyone has experience of using these? Hopefully we all manage to conceive soon! I think I just am feeling the pressure as my best friend and sister in law got pregnant on the first go so you kind of start to think is this ever gonna happen for me! Nice to speak to people in the same position though! Xx

FirsttimeTTC · 14/01/2020 22:30

@Sausage1990 ooh thanks for the book suggestions! Will definitely take a look.
Ahh how frustrating your DH is away. But at least he’s home for the approximate ovulation day!
You’re going to have a busy weekend!! But fingers crossed that it’s enough

FirsttimeTTC · 14/01/2020 22:27

This is a positive OPK yeah? Or am I still not getting how they work 😂

FirsttimeTTC · 14/01/2020 22:11

@jenna30 only since the end of November! So really not long at all. It just feels like forever.

Sausage1990 · 14/01/2020 22:05

Also on a different note... My DH is working away mid-week this week and for the next 2 weeks and only home on the weekends which is not ideal for baby making!!!

Ive had a quick check of my estimated fertile window (which is usually correct give or take 1-2days) and my "ovulation day" falls on the Sunday... But could be before or after - we literally have 3 days to BD (Friday-Sunday) this month and that's it. We can't do any more even if we wanted to because he's not here ☹️ such a slim chance this month for us!!

Let's hope it's enough 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Sausage1990 · 14/01/2020 22:00

Hi ladies. I've just been catching up on the chat... Welcome @Vikki90 I struggled with longer cycles when I 1st came my pill but have settled to 34-35 days on average so hopefully yours will settle down.
Personally the only way I've learnt to understand my cycles is tracking on the Flo app and really getting to know my cervical mucus changes. I found a few books helpful (im in the UK so not sure where you guys are based so may not be able to get them)... Firstly one called The Gynae Geek which is written by an Obstetrician and the 2nd is Period Power by Maisie Hill (both can be found on Instagram). These helped me understand my cycles and my body.

I was lucky that I decided come off my pill after 9yrs in 2016 due to mental health struggles (which improved after stopping) and I was surprised how up an down I felt each month so I started looking in it cycles then... So now we're TTC it's made it a bit easier to get an idea of where I am in my cycle.

Hope these help xx

peachypetite · 14/01/2020 21:09

@FirsttimeTTC OMG I know exactly what you mean. I don’t understand how people get pregnant accidentally/ons! I’ve spent the whole of my 20s trying to avoid pregnancy and now feel like it’s a military operation Ttc

peachypetite · 14/01/2020 21:05

@vikki welcome! I have had a few instances of crazy cycles around sept but luckily the last few have settled down to normal. If you’re not sure when you’re ovulating just make sure you’re having sex every other day and hopefully you’ll catch it.

Vikki90 · 14/01/2020 20:30

Hi guys! Been googling TTC forums all night and stumbled across you guys (the most recent I could find) just wanting to chat to people in the same boat..I came off the pill in June and we have been trying actively since October and not having any joy at all! My cycles are ranging from 33 days to 44 days - anyone else having issues trying to work out when ovulation is occurring? Xx
