Join here please! I’m still taking my pill at the moment but current packet runs out on 7th Jan so planning to start then but not really track anything officially. I’ve been reading up about conception vitamins and going to buy some this week to start taking after new year- does anyone have recommendations for particular brands?
Will be my first but partners 2nd, very nervous but excited at the same time. No idea what to expect but hoping to have some ladies in the same situation to chat to!

I'm not much of a drinker, so will be easy to get away with just "having a coke" Wink
Took my first BBT this morning, just want to start getting into the habit of it since AF still hasn't arrived Envygot that heavy feeling in my pelvis, nausea and exhaustion. But then again I've also got a stinking cold!

Hope everyone has a lovely New Year's Eve!

Spark27 · 30/12/2019 19:27

@lucymagoo with my first I managed to be 'busy' for the month after I found out. The next month I had to cancel going out for my birthday as me not drinking would have been obvious. I blamed it on a dodgy prawn Grin. If you have to go out try and get your OH on side and swap drinks with them (although they may end up really drunk!) Or sneak to the bar separately and order things that look alcoholic but aren't. Tonic without the gin, etc

switcharoo · 30/12/2019 19:04

Anyone else's DH not want to know when they're ovulating etc?! DH said not to tell him as he doesn't do well with the extra pressure to perform so to speak but I can't see how I'm going to hide it when I want us to have Dec 3 or 4 times in a week...it's a bit more than we'd normally do the deed! Ha

lucymagoo · 30/12/2019 17:41

Thank god for dry January as an excuse to not drink this month. Not sure what I'm going to do after that as my friends are all huge drinkers, I feel like they will tell right away if I'm not drinking especially where my partner and I just got married and all the questions seem to be about when we are going to start trying 🤦🏻‍♀️
Anyone else using dry January as an excuse?

Spark27 · 30/12/2019 17:13

Hi ladies, hope everyone had a good Christmas and now have a bit of time to calm down from all the holiday craziness.
So my AF was 100% in line with my period tracking app this month (crazy as it was 4 days early last month) so I'm now on CD7. App is telling me to start using OPK in 3 days time, but expecting to actually ovulate on around CD15.
I got some cheap OPK tests from amazon (One Step, I think) and they worked for me last time, so hopefully they will help me again.
I have considered tracking BBT but I know I'll forget. Esp with DD shouting at me in the am.

I've been taking folic acid for about a month, and will start with the vit D once/if I get pregnant. I'm going to keep drinking up to new year (not heavily, being hungover with a 2yo is terrible), but will then lay off it a bit.
Fx to everyone x

Nearly 34 and decided that time is right to start trying in the New Year! Xmas Grin

Pre-conception vitamins and we’ve both stopped drinking!

Bims2019 · 30/12/2019 10:52

@yoomoo haha, that's good! I've ordered some now which should be here in time for my fertile window in a few days 😊

@BernadetteThreep all good here, AF has just finished so nearing time to try! Flo says fertile time is around 3rd Jan onwards with OV on the 9th. We've never DTD without protection before, which I'm weirdly nervous about even though it's what we want!
Hope AF appears for you soon, I felt like that last week as cycle ended up being longer than I'm used to. Wish they gave more information about this before you start the pill, I never really thought about how it affects everything until now!

Let us know how you get on with the BBT, I've not tried that before 🙂

BernadetteThreep · 30/12/2019 09:02

Welcome @fluffysocks10

How is everyone doing? My DS came home from spending a few days at his dad's, so it's been a lovely distraction. He left on boxing day so he's had all his presants back out.
13 days post contraception, no AF yet, but have a "heavy" dull ache so maybe it's on its way? Didn't have periods on the implant (been on it for 5 years so think I've forgotten what it feels like haha).
Been feeling a bit disheartened from that crappy false positive test the other day.

My BBT thermometer arrives today, so going to start the habit of using it tomorrow AM.

1987Nic · 29/12/2019 19:14

Ah that’s a shame that it hasn’t settled down but you’ve done the best thing by coming of them last year.

Fluffysocks10 · 29/12/2019 18:49

Thanks @lucymagoo

@1987Nic I took my last pill in July 2018 and got my first period end of August 2018. My periods are still irregular and when I thought I was getting somewhere (I had 3 cycles in a row at 43/44 days) I had a 5 day really intense heavy bleed in October and then nothing until this past week! I'm going to book a docs appt in the new year because I'm fed up of not knowing if I'm coming or going!

Rainbo83 · 29/12/2019 18:43

Am loving all the positivity here!
As for quick 'happenings' yes, my DS is the result of a bad case of food poisioning on holiday-
Which must have messed up my pill at the time Grin

1987Nic · 29/12/2019 18:40

How long did it take to get your first period? interested as I’ve been on the same pill for around 10 years too. @Fluffysocks10

1987Nic · 29/12/2019 18:38

It’s not like me at all, glad it’s calmed down ha. @lucymagoo

lucymagoo · 29/12/2019 18:10

Welcome @Fluffysocks10!

Fluffysocks10 · 29/12/2019 17:48

Hi everyone, am I ok to join? Me and OH had a chat the other morning and we both agreed on trying Grin. I’m 28 and came off Cerezette last summer (I was on it 10 years and didn’t have periods whilst taking it).

Soooo nervous now we have decided to try!

lucymagoo · 29/12/2019 17:33

Yes it's definitely worth remembering people get accidentally pregnant all the time, the science behind it is a little daunting and makes it seem way more complicated.
I have no idea if I'm going to be able to track ovulation having just come off the depo injection in August and then the mini pill until two weeks ago. Depo can take up to a year and a half to get out of your system so I'm an idiot for doing it. Just going to hope for the best until I get a regular AF.

yoomoo · 29/12/2019 16:17

Oh no @BernadetteThreep how confusing! I had one of those a couple of years ago, must have been an evap line, I nearly died of fright at the time!

I was going to test this morning but bottled it, still no AF for me nearly 2 weeks off the pill. I’m sure it’s going to arrive any day now! In the meantime we’ll carry on Blush I’ve got some ovulation things coming today so I can give those a go! I’m pretty sure I ovulated just before Christmas so won’t get any result on them for a few weeks.

Definitely @Rainbo83 it is a difficult subject to broach but we found it easiest to talk over food and a few drinks so might be worth a try! Even now I feel weird mentioning it, we are trying because I’m not taking my pill or any other precaution but it still seems weird to say we are trying IYSWIM 😂

Thank you @Bims2019 that’s exactly what I’ve ordered they are arriving today!

@rhirhibumblebee I’d like to say wing it but having ordered some myself I have to say order some ovulation tests to get certainty, the more I read online I honestly have no idea how anyone accidentally gets pregnant it seems like a science needing a lot of tests and timing Grin

rhirhibumblebee · 29/12/2019 15:45

@Rainbo83 Good Luck! Only you can decide, but if you feel it in your heart then go for it 😀. I really wasn't sure about going for #3 but once we decided, it just clicked xx

rhirhibumblebee · 29/12/2019 15:37

Ah @BernadetteThreep That's so confusing for you. I hope when you re test it's there again. Fingers crossed!!

Those that have had AF what CD are you?? I'm CD 6 so counting down the days to see if I ovulate next week 😬. Should I quickly order some ovulation tests? Or wing it 🙈

Bims2019 · 29/12/2019 12:01

Here you go @yoomoo, hope the link works!

@Rainbo83 if it's on your mind then I'd have a chat, it's a hard topic to bring up but you'll feel much better being open about it 😊 and who knows, your fiance might have been thinking the same thing!

lucymagoo · 29/12/2019 11:31

That's a shame @BernadetteThreep! I'm sure it won't be too long until you get a BFP for real :)

Rainbo83 · 29/12/2019 11:19

Thanks @yoomoo @Bims2019
I have been reluctant to suggest stopping the pill in case it gets fiances hopes up, I have a DS10 and don't know if its worth me ttc but thinking why not? Time to have a little chat Xmas Smile

BernadetteThreep · 29/12/2019 08:14

It appeared within the 5 minutes and continued to get darker through out the evening. But alas it must have been faulty because taken a FRER this morning and got a great big enormous BFN. So it's back to the waiting for AF game Smile

DontGoJasonWaterfalls · 28/12/2019 22:29

@bernadettethreep how long after poas did you read the result? That looks like a bfp to me!

BernadetteThreep · 28/12/2019 21:21

That’s what I’m thinking too! It might not even be possible to pick up/conceive yet, which is why I’m dubious. It could just be a big old evil evap line. Shall see in the morning Smile
