Join here please! I’m still taking my pill at the moment but current packet runs out on 7th Jan so planning to start then but not really track anything officially. I’ve been reading up about conception vitamins and going to buy some this week to start taking after new year- does anyone have recommendations for particular brands?
Will be my first but partners 2nd, very nervous but excited at the same time. No idea what to expect but hoping to have some ladies in the same situation to chat to!

@FootballAndBeer145 how frustrating I bet it’s driving you mad! I don’t have any experience myself as I’ve always been on the pill when I’ve travelled in the past but I would guess it could impact your cycle with the plane travel and the tiredness of it all too. I hope it comes for you soon or you get a positive test Smile

@Ginger87 good luck with the house offer, hope it all goes smoothly for you! We’re going to start house renovations in the next month or so meaning it should all be done if/when there’s an extra person in the house! Enjoy your baby cuddles I’ve noticed I’m seeing babies a lot more at the moment!

Well I did my One Step test and below is the result, I understand it’s not positive as the test line needs to be darker than the control line but the fact there’s another line at all might be a good sign? I’ve been reading conflicting reports on the internet, I think if I’ve understood correctly then it should get darker over the coming days. I will probably test again in the morning (not FMU) and then when I get home although I’ll be travelling so will be slightly later than today Hmm Photo from the Femometer app which I’ve just signed up to at £8.99 a month. So much for being chilled Grin it’s the control freak in me I can’t help it!

@yoomoo @DontGoJasonWaterfalls what lovely stories!

@lucymagoo where have you moved too? DH and I are looking at moving to the Watford area, we saw a house we liked at the weekend and hoping to make an offer this week. I'd love to move before I'm too far along so can some mummy friends nearby. I do have some friends with little ones but they live all over the place.

On another note, I went shopping today for a present for my BF's new baby girl. Got the cutest little dress/trousers combo and my heart melted 😍. Can't wait for cuddles at the weekend.

FootballAndBeer145 · 06/01/2020 20:30

@yoomoo thanks for posting the instructions! It reminded me that mine arrived today and I needed to collect from the neighbour 🤦🏽‍♀️

On day 41 of my cycle and still no AF, got no clue what's going on with my body. Could travel / jetlag mess things up? I travelled from London to New York for 8 days on the 13th Dec

yoomoo · 06/01/2020 20:04

Just in case anyone is interested I’ve posted the instructions from the One Step OPKs I think it was around £5 for 30 from amazon! Quite specific instructions aren’t they who knew it was such a science Smile

@yoomoo Aww lovely story about your mums friend!
I'm also hoping to make mum friends, we will be the first out of our friendship group (depending on how long it takes)! And I don't really have loads of friends where I live anyway as I moved here after university, so other than DH's friends and their partners, I can sometimes feel a little lonely!

yoomoo · 06/01/2020 19:34

Haha pleased it’s not just me who keeps MN as my little secret Grin he would just think I’m crazy talking about this to people I don’t know on the internet! But it’s a little bit of relief talking to people in the same position with similar worries and frustrations!
I’m also hoping this parenting malarkey brings some new friends, I only have a couple of really close friends at the moment who are at different stages so be nice to expand my group. I’m not sure if I’ll be going to antenatal classes (I know I’ll need a planned section) but hoping to meet some people along the way. My mum met her best friend in the ward after having me, they were next to eachother in the hospital after giving birth and bonded over a love of coffee and not having a clue what to do with these new little things! It always makes me smile that story and I hope to have the same maybe Smile

In other news I’ve just got home, totally forgot I was meant to do an OPK so I’ll have to wait until I need a wee again 😂 need some sort of reminder system I’m too scatty!

@lucymagoo it was really lovely. I was 19 and a uni student so while I had a great group of friends (who are all still "auntie" or "uncle" to DD) I had no idea what I was doing and no mum friends. They got me through so much and still do when I'm having a bit of a meltdown about girlguiding uniforms and school dilemmas 😂

lucymagoo · 06/01/2020 18:56

@DontGoJasonWaterfalls that's so lovely! I hope I have that when/if we have a little one. We moved out of London a year ago and all our friends are childless and central. Would be nice to have mum friends nearby.

DontGoJasonWaterfalls · 06/01/2020 18:53

DH knows I'm on conception threads, but then again he's used to it Grin I'm still friends on Facebook and chat frequently to most of my antenatal group from when I had DD, we've been talking for 6 years now and have met up in person with all our little ones, DHs included so he's met most of them too 😂

Ginger87 · 06/01/2020 17:37

Haha, I agree with all of you! I've definitely not mention to my DH that I'm on the thread... he'd think I was nuts! @spark27 @yoomoo @lucymagoo @Marshmallow1102

lucymagoo · 06/01/2020 16:34

Yes I've definitely been hiding my new mumsnet obsession from my partner 😂 he thinks we are "taking it easy, if it happens it happens" sure sure

Marshmallow1102 · 06/01/2020 15:20

@yoomoo I'm so glad I'm not the only one 😂

yoomoo · 06/01/2020 15:08

Thank you everyone for the OPK advice it’s really helpful, I like nice clear instructions Grin

I am also in stealth mode, DP was asking me what I was reading last night. Nothing my love 😂 he’d think I was utterly bonkers if he thought I was discussing lack of AF with strangers on the internet. My mum keeps asking me if I’m pregnant too 🙄 no I’m not that’s the problem!

OP posts:
Marshmallow1102 · 06/01/2020 14:37

@Spark27 Oh no, don't think I could cope with my parents finding out either! Currently so desperate to keep it a secret from everyone that I'm using incognito mode haha!

Spark27 · 06/01/2020 14:19

My parents popped round for a bit earlier and I had to quickly close this page so they wouldn't see what site I was on. Haha. I feel like a teenager trying to sneak around Grin, but I could NOT deal with them knowing we are trying. They would be unbearable

Spark27 · 06/01/2020 14:12

@Ginger87 I'm with you on the Monday blues. But it's kind of nice to be able to get back in a routine now DH is back at work.

@yoomoo I've got the One Step ones. The instructions say to do it later in the day (after 1000 I think) as it says higher surges in the morning can give false readings?! I always dip test (or I wee on my hand), dip for up to 10secs. Then read within 10mins. The test line is supposed to be as dark as or darker than the control line. If it's lighter it's a negative. First time round it's good to do it a few times over the month and around ov time so you get used to what to look for.
I have lots of watery CM at the moment and some little twinges that could be the starting of ov pains. My app says its due tomorrow (but could be a day or 2 out as last month was really weird) so I tested today but its still negative. Hopefully tomorrow.

Marshmallow1102 · 06/01/2020 14:00

@Ginger87 Same! Keeping fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly but freaking out on the inside! Not even started properly trying yet! Can only imagine what I'm going to be like!

BernadetteThreep · 06/01/2020 13:52

The viewer was very nice, definitely the landlord type and seems quite interested. Think anxiety was just taking over a bit, I haven't got the energy to move! We are quite happy here.
OH doesn't live with us (absolutely nothing against him; thugs may change in the future but we are happy for now)

@yoomoo as long as it isn't FMU you can take an OPK at anytime of the day and try to stick to that time Smile I've enjoyed practicing taking them as tracking it on my app. Think I'm planning to start taking them on CD 10. But (apparently) as you get used to your cycle , and see a pattern, you'll get the hang of when in your cycle to start testing

EffRam · 06/01/2020 13:47

@yoomoo I am not sure it hugely matters when you do it but I try and be consistent with it, and the surge can be short so around the time you think it might be it can be worth doing twice a day. I tend to do them 11ish then 6ish if I want a second one. I've use the amazon ones and boots own - boots seemed clearer but amazon onestep were fine - I have nothing nothing nothing, then a faint line that gets darker. I've only once seen it officialy 'positive' on the one step, but it gets to almost as dark then the next day fainter and is gone in a couple of days so I assume it was positive at some point in between in the 24 hours that I didn't test!

yoomoo · 06/01/2020 13:35

@lucymagoo won’t be able to today as he’s back at work tonight and leaves before I get home Hmm but we did manage to DTD yesterday so maybe some will be hanging about still Grin
I’ll give an OPK a go tonight and see what it says!

OP posts:
lucymagoo · 06/01/2020 13:14

@yoomoo ooh EWCM is a great sign! I'd DTD today if you can coordinate with your partner. I'm on the look out for it as I've still not had any withdrawal or period. Also testing with cheapy amazon OPKs with no result, but I'm just doing odd days so may have missed it if I were ovulating at any point 🙃

@bernadettethreep that sounds stressful! Hope it doesn't stress you out too much. When we bought our flat last year the couple moving out were 9 months pregnant and gave birth between finishing the sale and moving, they looked a bit frazzled!

yoomoo · 06/01/2020 12:55

Hi all! Back to work properly today, alarm went off at 5.30 and I could’ve cried! Oh well back into it, also going to struggle to DTD now as I’m at work Mon-Fri and then my DP works nights so we are like ships!

Still no sign of AF but I do seem to have EWCM today?! What on Earth is that about. I could’ve sworn I already ovulated over Christmas, negative test at the weekend so I can’t possibly be doing it again! I do have some ovulation tests so if I remember when I get home late tonight I’ll do one.

Honestly I’ve never been so confused by my body Confused

@RBSK1 I would buy some cheap tests on amazon for checking, I got a pack of 20 for about £7 I think. Mind you I can’t attest to their reliability I suppose but they got good reviews Grin

Oooo @DontGoJasonWaterfalls how intriguing, fingers crossed for you!

@BernadetteThreep that’s just extra stress you don’t need though, fingers crossed for you!

Ovulation test experts - what time of day are you meant to do them? And what am I looking for? I’ve got the one step version from amazon mentioned up thread!

EffRam · 06/01/2020 12:46

@Ginger87 I'm actually quite enjoying being back at work, I've loved being off for 2 weeks with my baby but it is definitely a break to be back and catch my breath!

I also enjoyed the good luck with ovulating - as if it is in our control, but I appreciate it!

The timings are definitely difficult to come to terms with, I think because everything else you can control it like work, moving etc. We were lucky first time round and it only took a couple of months, but that doesn't really mean anything and so you don't want to wait in case it takes ages, but then potentially it could happen so soon. But it will all work out one way or another...

Ginger87 · 06/01/2020 12:39

Hi all! Anyone else got the first Monday in January blues??

@Florence13 Yep, I've just realised though that this will result in my first AF for about 10 years so I'm wondering what it will be like 😂... I don't think they were too bad before, but maybe I've blocked it out! I'm like you in trying to be relaxed but I'm mor good at it! So instead focusing on doing all I can to get my body ready (exercise, eating better, losing weight, folic acid/vitamin d etc).

@Marshmallow1102 I was on the combined, so should get my withdrawal bleed this week (I'm assuming you just get the normal one you'd have on your 7 day break). What about you? I am sort of thinking the same, but oh well- a few months later hopefully won't make a difference.

@yoomoo I think that'll be our plan too. Fingers crossed your AF comes soon!

@Effram good luck with ovulating this week. I agree with timings, ideally we'd have moved and I'd have been promoted before trying but neither happened last year so we just thought we might as well go for it. Both could still happen before I get pregnant (and I'd be seriously pissed if we haven't moved by the time a baby is conceived and born lol).

@BernadetteThreep sad news about the house, but hopefully it will sort itself out.

EffRam · 06/01/2020 10:38

Happy new year everyone! I posted a couple of weeks ago but then it's been really busy with family and being away. Now I'm back at work I have more time to keep up (ironically!).

I'm expecting to ovulate this week... Apps say Thursday but yesterday OPK was on its way. I'm annoyed I meant to bring a test with me today but forgot, never mind. we have been managing to DTD a fair amount while both off but concerned we will struggle this week now we are back at work and tired! first time round we had mornings too but now with a 15 month old that opportunity is gone!

I would love a 2 year gap but realistically if it takes a few months to catch it will be better for me career wise... It's so hard balancing everything isn't it, I just want to be pregnant again!

Hope everyone is doing ok. @BernadetteThreep sounds stressful about the house, hope you're ok.
