Anyone starting TTC January?

We have decided we are going to start trying in January for our first baby. I would love to start trying now but we've decided to wait till January for financial reasons. I won't be ovulating till around 20th either so I still have so long to wait even once we're in January! Anyone want to wait with me?

@MistletoeNWine Don't worry about the nerves, I'm also very nervous! Mostly about the process of TTC, because I'm convienced it's going to take ages. But I also think I'll freak out a bit whenever I do get pregnant.
But they're mostly happy excited butterflies :)

MistletoeNWine · 16/12/2019 07:33

Hope you dont mind me jumping on this thread. My last pill pack runs out in two days so I would be due to take it again on Christmas day but we have decided not to take any more! I've always wanted kids but for some reason I'm so nervous about it and its making me second guess everything. DH is so laid back and isnt worried at all. I think we're just going to see how it goes for the first wee while and try not to take it too seriously. Good luck everyone! Hopefully my nerves calm soon

mimmi91 · 15/12/2019 09:02

Welcome @cupoftea84 and @littlepea90 !
Can't wait to start trying in a couple of weeks!!! Grin

I finally got my first real post-pill period last night (after being off it for exactly 3 months) so I'm feeling super positive about my body's abilities now hah!! Hopefully I'll ovulate between Xmas and NY Grin

Anyone else giving Christmas time a go, to maybe get some xmas magic to help things along...? Wink

Littlepea90 · 14/12/2019 00:57

Hi guys

Only being trying one cycle, but must say I’ve always wanted to conceive in January (Halloween baby) as October is my favourite time of year. Any month would be amazing though. Good luck everyone!

cupoftea84 · 13/12/2019 18:39

DH and I are thinking about TTC baby number 2 this January. But hesitant as we have a 1 year that still breast feeds several times a night but I'm 35 nearly 36 with arthritis so wanting to crack on.
Good luck everyone xx

donut8 · 13/12/2019 18:09

@tequilasunrises Oh that would be an amazing birthday present! 🤞🏻
Yea you're right I think it will be nice and will have someone to talk to as I'm going through it and all being in the same boat and that but I kinda just want it be all about me you know lol

tequilasunrises · 13/12/2019 15:15

@donut8

If my cycles stay normal I should be around the 17th I think. My Dh turns 30 in jan too so it’d be a great birthday present Smile

Ohh the pressure! I know my BIL and SIL are trying too and I’d be a bit devastated if they managed it before us so I know the feeling. But equally it would be lovely for you if you all got pregnant around the same time and had some buddies Smile

donut8 · 13/12/2019 15:11

@mimmi91 yea I think it will be the same for me. I'm hoping within the first 2 months but only cause we aren't trying in March due to not wanting a December baby so will mean 4 months in then! I will start stressing then even though I know it can take up to a year. I keep telling myself I'm healthy, not over weight or under weight, I don't drink or smoke and taking folid acid so I am hoping I have good chances but you just never know.
No I don't think it will be sexy but I will try so hard and make it seem to him like its spontaneous. Although we only tend to bed on the weekend so when I pounce on him mid week he's going to know why! haha.
Yes you're right we do need to try and enjoy it but now I know we're trying next month it's like agghh, just want to start! I am going to be a nightmare on the two week wait! l'll probably be testing everyday! lol

OP posts:
tequilasunrises · 13/12/2019 15:07

@mimmi91 it totally was the worst although I don’t have to see her every day unlike your colleague so that must be hard for you! It’s crazy how much it can knock you for six.

Hopefully this thread keeps going and we can have some BFPs or at least keep each other sane Grin

donut8 · 13/12/2019 15:06

@tequilasunrises I won't be far behind you for testing! Think I will be testing end of January. Oh that is the worst. I haven't had it happen recently but two friends are trying January as well and if they conceive before me I will be so jealous! (and a bit devastated).

OP posts:
mimmi91 · 13/12/2019 14:57

@tequilasunrises that is the WORST that can happen to a woman who is TTC... My colleague announced her pregnancy a month ago, and even though I haven't ever started to TTC I felt super jealous. How weird we are?! I cross my fingers for you too! It'll be fun to keep in touch throughout January to see if some of us get lucky... Grin

@Jaffacakegal Oh yes, that must be difficult to manage, thinking menopause is creeping up... Confused

JaffaCakeGal · 13/12/2019 14:51

@mimmi91 I'm 34, and can feel my body clock ticking loudly Grin my mum was 38/39 when she started with the menopause so it makes me panicky!

mimmi91 · 13/12/2019 14:36

@jeleigh welcome to the January club! We're also going to "cheat" by actually starting on Xmas (I guess we thought it'd be a romantic xmas gift to give eachother), but am definitely not thinking it'll work straight away, so might as well start early eh?!

@donut8 Omg I know, the pressure is even worse when you're "competing" against family!! I'll definitely be in the same race with my cousin...
And I know what you mean about timing. I know that if it takes up to 3 months/cycles, I won't stress out too much ; but after that I'm going to go mental, thinking there's lots wrong with me (or my husband...?).
Aaaand totally get the point about the sex.... I know myself, and I will definitely (but not intentionally) make it into this clinical "must-do" chore, which I really hope my husband will come to accept... but I don't expect any of this to be particularly sexy actually (except probs the first few times)...
I guess the most important thing is for us to stay positive and try to enjoy this moment, because I'm sure one day we'll regret not having fully appreciated being child-less haha! On that note, I just had lots of sushi for lunch ; might as well indulge before TTC next month!!

tequilasunrises · 13/12/2019 14:31

Me!
We have taken a break for Christmas but should be ovulating NYE/early Jan so testing mid Jan. Eek.

I’m also going slightly mental waiting. Went out for dinner with some friends last night and they announced they were expecting and I felt like the wind had been knocked out of me and really jealous. Felt like a proper cow so hoping it happens for us soon!

donut8 · 13/12/2019 13:59

@rollon2020 welcome! I am glad to hear you are in the same position as me with regards to your husband. I'm due to ovulate next week and i wish I could persuade him. Only a month more though! Grin
I'm sorry to hear about your ovary and miscarriage but that's great you conceived first time on both times. Hopefully it will be the same this time round, I wish you all the luck for when you try.

@jeleigh welcome! Well you never know it could happen that quickly! I am driving myself crazy too so I'm glad we are in the same boat. At least you can try now, I can't if it makes you feel any better lol

OP posts:
donut8 · 13/12/2019 13:54

@mimmi91 that's what I keep telling myself to make me feel better lol I know a lot of people are starting later cause they want to be financially stable etc. but it's the fact that I don't know how long it will take is what is pressuring me. If I knew it would be straight away happy days but if it took a year or more I would 33 maybe 34 and then a lot older for second child with higher risks for complications. A couple of my friends my age don't have boyfriends yet and it actually makes me feel a bit better ha
It is nice that we're trying at same time (they both already have one each) but I also feel a bit like they will be stealing my thunder which I know is so stupid of me lol I think because one of them is family (husbands brothers wife) I feel like everyone will be comparing us and judging me if I do something different to her.
Yes I am totally the same! But my biggest worry is I'll turn into a robot and a monster and make it a chore to have sex and conceive and then upsetting my husband. I want it to be relaxed but I just know I'll be ovulating and will be like 'right, we need to do this' you know? I keep worrying and reading up on twins as well and I might not even have them!

jeleigh · 13/12/2019 13:53

Hi everyone, my first post on here too!
Me and my OH are planning on TTC in January too, this will be for our first. But I had my coil removed two weeks ago, and I ovulated just a few days ago so we thought we would give it a go before we start really trying. My period is due on Christmas Day but I doubt we’ll be that lucky first time.
I’m already driving myself a little crazy with the wait for next month!

donut8 · 13/12/2019 13:47

@GrassWasGreener hearing you say that about reasons to have another baby soon actually makes a lot of sense. I don't know why but I've always said 2 years age gap but there is no actual reason for it. I suppose it would be good to get both early stages done quickly and clock is ticking for me a bit too especially with having a second. And yes to the squishy bits!! I would feel the same, whats the point in sorting them out just to get them again lol

OP posts:
rollon2020 · 13/12/2019 13:47

Hi! Hoping to join you all in the count down!

We plan to start ttc next month, I'm currently ovulating which is making me crazy but DH won't budge either so one more cycle to go!

I already have DD but having had an ovary removed and miscarriage I'm already getting nervous about it all
We did conceive first time both times so really hoping I won't have long to wait

mimmi91 · 13/12/2019 13:39

@donut8 I think 32 is such a normal age to have your first child in this day and age :) Most of my friends my age (28) don't even have boyfriends yet hah! They would even judge me for wanting kids already! But I understand what you mean about the age pressure still, I feel like we all think we're under pressure, no matter what age we are!! I have this weird "internal deadline" hope that I can give birth before I'm 30 (am turning 29 in August 2020) so hopefully that's achievable.

I've also hinted to my family that 2020 would be the year we'll start trying, but haven't been specific with an actual timing for that exact reason. If it takes lots of time, I'd rather not have that kind of pressure. But I do know my cousin will also start trying soon, and I feel like it'll become a bit of a race in our family... Confused But it's so nice that you've got 2 friends to talk to about this stuff (despite the time pressure thing...)

What's truly awful about this is that I haven't even started TTC yet, and I'm already worrying about everything that can go wrong (starting with my cycle that's still not normal)! I bet I'll be worrying my ass off this entire process, which sucks... (hence why I've come to this forum I guess). I wish I was the kind of person who didn't worry at all, and could just TTC without over-thinking everything.

donut8 · 13/12/2019 13:24

@mimmi91 ha that's funny you said that cause that exact thought of jinxing crossed my mind too! I started taking folic acid too and bought pre-seed too lol I don't drink alcohol anyway so that's a bonus for me. I've mentioned to a couple of friends we'll be trying to conceive in January and I partially regret it as if it takes a long time I think I will feel worse that people know we are trying and not succeeding. They are both trying January too.

Yea I agree that's why we decided to bring it forward even before our debt is paid off because I am ready now and as you said there is no perfect time. I'm 32 next week Sad so bit more pressure for me time wise, my biological clock is definitely ticking! I would love to give birth whilst I am still 32, think it will just make me feel better lol as if we have a second I will be knocking on 35s door

OP posts:
GrassWasGreener · 13/12/2019 13:11

*only once

That's what happens when trying to type while feeding Hmm

GrassWasGreener · 13/12/2019 13:10

@donut8 plus, am still squishy from first pregnancy, rather than work hard to lose it to only put it back on again is not appealing lol. If we have last baby sooner rather than later, can relax and remain squishy and then deal with the wobbles only one haha (obviously the least relevant reason)

GrassWasGreener · 13/12/2019 13:08

@donut8 a few things, money is always considered in any decision but also we have a farm so aiming to time things to try and keep life as simple as possible. Our age, we don't want to get much older. Am not over the hill or anything but it is a factor for both of us. Also We thought that if DD is still young we won't have any problems as she won't know any different. Would rather give a few consecutive years to young babies in one go than to just get some time back for myself when first baby is heading to nursery etc and have to give more time to another new baby. Not that I begrudge the time, of course I don't, we have just been talking and would rather do it this way. Met a few mums with a 15 month old and 6 month old and they really liked the gap. Said it worked really well for them so we are going to give it a go

mimmi91 · 13/12/2019 12:37

I haven't started reading any books either, I feel like it would jinx everything!
I'm only preparing so much as taking folic acid, not drinking too much alcohol, and even ordered Pre Seed on amazon the other day!

I think finances are always the most common problem halting baby making. It'll be somewhat similar for me, considering my husband may still be studying when I get pregnant (hence no job = no salary + student loans to pay off). But then again I feel like it is never perfect timing for anyone. I personally can't wait any longer, my biological clock is ticking like crazy, and I almost cry every time I see a pregnant woman or a baby! Hmm And I'm "only" 28 years old.

How old are you girls?
