Short LP & cycle success stories

Hello everyone. I'm hoping for some help. TTC#2 had an unsuccessful pregnancy (termination) 3 years ago. Conceived 3rd cycle of coming off pill last time, cycles were 28-29 days. I'm a 28.

Had nexplanon implant out September and had very short cycles since 23-24 days. I ovulate around CD14-15 and then my LP is only about 8-9 days long.

Does anyone have any success stories in similar situations and any advice on lengthening cycle? I've been taking sertraline 100mg for the last 13 months, reduced my dose down to 25mg the last month and now I have stopped completely. CD1 today. I also have been drinking 2-3 coffees a day - could any of these effect my cycle?

Thank you all 💕 any advice welcome

@Trying2019 I had my 'day 21' test last Friday on CD19. From what I read you should have it 7 days before your next expected period. Mine happened to be 7DPO and 7 days to next period. I started spotting 11DPO and I think the progesterone level dropping is what causes the spotting so hopefully it would have still been as high as it was gonna be at 7DPO. I haven't got my results yet though.

Does anyone else have really short periods? Mine is literally only 1 day of red blood pretty much then brown spotting for a few days. This just seems way too short, I have read this is associated with lower fertility but there doesn't seem to be much info on it. The GP says it doesn't matter but I have zero faith that he knows what he is talking about fertility wise....

Lol at the renamed 10 day wait @Trying2019 so true 😂 if we didn't laugh, we'd cry!

I'm hoping I ovulated yesterday or today after my static smiley yesterday (finally). You'll all be pleased to know, we managed to DTD v quietly last night, with the in laws in the spare room! Needs must and all that! Hoping for more action tonight too, just to cover all bases.

Trying2019 · 18/01/2020 18:28

@CooperLooper thanks for replying. I didnt temp in the end. I was so depressed and fed up of it all at the start of the month we decided to have a month off trying. I think ill temp next cycle and go for the test 7 days after like they recommend.

CooperLooper · 18/01/2020 13:43

@Trying2019 ha yeah we should call it the Five Minute Wait for all the bloody good my naff luteal phase is.

I've never had the test sorry so I can't comment, but didn't want to read and leave without replying. Did you start temping in the end?

Trying2019 · 18/01/2020 11:24

Has anyone on here had the day 21 progesterone test. I have the form here to get the test done but not sure when to go to get the most accurate result with my short luteal phase. I havent tested properly this cycle but i got a pretty dark internet cheapy last night. Tested this morning with a clear blue and got a static however if id tested last night it may have been static then. So due to ovulate today or tomorrow? They say 7 days after ovulation or half way through your luteal phase for the test. I start spotting day 10 usually.

Im thinking to leave it till next cycle as i cant go on friday and dont want to push it to the monday.

Any thoughts?

Looks like a few of us will be in the 2ww together or we should rename it the 10 day wait x

Wearenotyourkind · 17/01/2020 18:19

@lunamoon1 fingers crossed you get your peak v soon.

Re the in laws, I didn't think telling them it wasn't convenient as we need to have sex, would be an acceptable reason!! Unfortunately our bed is a bit squeaky though 😂

lunamoon1 · 17/01/2020 18:13

@CooperLooper I'm jealous of you ladies and your peaks lol! hopefully I'll be joining you there soon..

@Wearenotyourkind that made me laugh, bloody typical.. hope you manage to still find a way to get it done!

Wearenotyourkind · 17/01/2020 17:59

We need to DTD tonight, but my in laws have invited themselves to stay!!!! 😱😱😱😱

CooperLooper · 17/01/2020 16:17

@Wearenotyourkind got my peak today finally woohoo! We DTD yesterday and planning to tonight and tomorrow for good measure, so we should be pretty covered this month 🤞🏻

@lunamoon1 yeah I guess I'll stop taking AC now then until CD1 next cycle, but carry on with the B6 throughout x

lunamoon1 · 17/01/2020 13:53

@CooperLooper fingers crossed you get a better LP this time! I really have no idea what's going on, CD19 and still pretty negative, let's hope tonight or tomorrow it starts to darken🤞🏼

@Lilice congrats! wonderful news!

With regards to AC, I heard you're only supposed to take it up until you get a positive OPK then stop. Think I'll give it a go next month if we aren't lucky this month!

Wearenotyourkind · 17/01/2020 11:30

@CooperLooper we are cycle buddies then! Hoping you get your peak today too Smile

CooperLooper · 17/01/2020 11:29

Until they turn lighter* not darker! Duh

CooperLooper · 17/01/2020 11:29

Hey @Beau2019 keep testing with your OPKs until they turn darker though, last month I had a two day peak for some reason! You're definitely still in with a shot though if you can have sex today and tomorrow too 😊

I'm not going back on Nexplanon, now I think about it it's so unnatural to not have a period or ovulate for over 6yrs so it's no wonder I need time to get back to normal. It was also a huge sex drive suppressant for me too, which I've read other threads where other women have experienced the same.

Good question @Wearenotyourkind I'm not sure whether to take agnus castus all cycle or just up to ov! I'm hoping to have my peak LH today so not sure what to do either...

Wearenotyourkind · 17/01/2020 09:00

Hi guys - so I just got my static smiley for peak fertility this morning - I'm on CD18 of a 27/28 day cycle, so again looks like my LP will only be 8/9 days. I'm really trying not to stress about it too much and will keep taking all the vitamins next month, if no luck this month.

What are people doing with the Agnus Castus - taking just until ovulation it whole cycle??

Beau2020x · 17/01/2020 08:54

@Lilice amazing news congratulations!!

@CooperLooper you sound just like me, I had nexplanon too! Mine was out in September - wish I had NEVER had it now. I got my peak OPK really quickly, yesterday morning but then it was really faint last night. I think my actual peak was early morning 16th but hadn't DTD since 13th and only did it last night. I won't have a chance this month but never mind!

How are you getting on?

Lilice · 16/01/2020 22:22

Hi everyone, I finally got my bfp today! After 6 months of trying. I think what made the difference this month was the high strength vitamin b complex (100mg) that I took every morning on an empty stomach with a glass of high strength vitamin c. I also took co enzyme q10, and evening primrose up to ovulation. Might be a coincidence but this cycle was the first time I was taking all of these.
Good luck to everyone and sending you all baby dust!

CooperLooper · 16/01/2020 21:47

@lunamoon1 no CD23 doesn't sound too bad, as long as I don't have another 4 day LP again! I just started taking B6 yesterday and agnus castus, but I think you're meant to stop taking agnus after ovulation in that cycle then start again on CD1.

Do you find your OPKs are darker at different times of day? Maybe that's why yours is a bit lighter? The last few cycles I get my darkest peak between 2pm-5pm x

Bubble29 · 16/01/2020 21:27

@kkr168 thank you!

12DPO I got my BFP! I ovulated on CD15 of a normally 24/25 cycle 😊

kkr168 · 16/01/2020 21:21

@Bubble29 Congratulations, how many days after ovulation did you get a positive test result?

lunamoon1 · 16/01/2020 20:44

@CooperLooper have you taken anything to try and bring it forward? I'm not sure how 'bad' late ovulation is really, as CD22/23 doesn't seem too late! I thought my OPK was going to turn positive today after getting darker last night but has lightened again, no idea what's going on! I'll keep testing though. I did, I used to ovulate on CD18 & always had a 10 day LP, but we fell pregnant after 4 months so it didn't seem to have a negative impact although I'm convinced it's going to cause us problems this time round, I guess time will tell!

CooperLooper · 16/01/2020 15:27

@lunamoon1 I seem to have late ovulation too, I'm CD21 today and my OPK has just turned a lot darker. Not positive yet, but I reckon either my evening OPK or tomorrow I'll get my peak, so CD22 or CD23 as my ovulation day. I came off the Nexplanon implant at the start of October!

How about you? Did you have late ov and short luteal phase for your first? X

lunamoon1 · 16/01/2020 07:32

Thank you @CooperLooper how are you doing? I seem get my positive OPK around CD18-20 & I'm CD18 today, my OPK is getting a little darker so here's hoping for a positive today/tomorrow! How long have you been TTC?

CooperLooper · 15/01/2020 19:43

Hey @Beau2020x you're definitely getting a good like progression though, and even if CD17 is your ovulation day that's still a pretty good LP if you have another 28 day cycle! I wondered if CD16 was my peak but I tested 3 times that day so I'd be surprised if I did miss a proper peak, but who knows...

Welcome @lunamoon1 :) what CD do you usually ovulate on? X

lunamoon1 · 15/01/2020 15:19

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind if I join. We're TTC no2 and I have a LP of around 9 days. This month I'm taking a vit b6 supplement, although only started half way through my cycle. I'm CD 17 & still no hint of a positive OPK, so I'll continue testing. I'm wondering if the vits have delayed ovulation a bit, although I'd be surprised as I've only been taking them for a week! Baby dust to everyone⭐️

Beau2020x · 15/01/2020 13:33

@CooperLooper I would almost be inclined to say CD16 was your peak? I'm the same, my OPKs are hardly getting any darker at all and I'm currently CD14. Ovulation date has been pushed back from CD15 to CD17 on glow app from OPK results.
