Short LP & cycle success stories

Hello everyone. I'm hoping for some help. TTC#2 had an unsuccessful pregnancy (termination) 3 years ago. Conceived 3rd cycle of coming off pill last time, cycles were 28-29 days. I'm a 28.

Had nexplanon implant out September and had very short cycles since 23-24 days. I ovulate around CD14-15 and then my LP is only about 8-9 days long.

Does anyone have any success stories in similar situations and any advice on lengthening cycle? I've been taking sertraline 100mg for the last 13 months, reduced my dose down to 25mg the last month and now I have stopped completely. CD1 today. I also have been drinking 2-3 coffees a day - could any of these effect my cycle?

Thank you all 💕 any advice welcome

@Beau2020x sorry to hear that but onwards and upwards and fingers crossed the next one sticks!

@Trying2019 no my spotting is only ever brown discharge/blood. Since I've started the b complex it's decreased in volume/ colour quite a bit. Still there from 10/11DPO but only a very tiny amount each day and more watery until 1 day before AF when it gets darker. The first time it was a lot lighter I thought this is it! IB! Alas no. Doesn't mean it isn't for you though so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 lots of people who get BFP have light bleeding/ spotting early on.

Trying2019 · 30/01/2020 19:33

Hiya everyone.

I havent tested since monday which was completely blank. AF still hasnt arrived properly so im in limbo. Just a question for those who spot before AF. Is your spotting like proper blood just not loads of it? Since Monday i have just had a browny colour discharge when wiping. Sometimes even only once a day. Is this actually enough to be classed as spotting? Im starting to think my luteal phase isnt as bad as i thought. As surely if my progesterone was low my womb lining would be shredding by now and would be getting a lot more blood than i am? Its frustrating though as takes ages to start my next cycle but i know im not pregnant so just in limbo

Overwhelmed with all the supplements i hope they work. I may try some new ones in march after my bloods

@beau2020x sorry it was a chemical xxx

Wearenotyourkind · 30/01/2020 18:14

Ffs 🤦🏻‍♀️ that was suppose to say - I have no idea which one is better.

Wearenotyourkind · 30/01/2020 18:13

This is the I've got. I have idea of the tincture or tablets are better though.

A.Vogel, Agnus castus - 50ml https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006CB1690/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_5WXmEbH0R4XPR

CooperLooper · 30/01/2020 18:02

@Wearenotyourkind wow maybe I really need to increase mine then, I'll get on Amazon

Welcome @Nat4392 😊

Wearenotyourkind · 30/01/2020 17:12

@CooperLooper I've been taking the liquid Agnus Castus oral drops - the instructions say to take 15-20 drops in some water twice a day. I started just once a day on last cycle, but have increased to twice daily this time. The bottle states that 1ml/33 drops contains 895mg of tincture from Agnus Castus fruits.

Welcome @Nat4392 we are all in the same boat here and praying for longer LPs/BFPS.

Nat4392 · 30/01/2020 15:24

Can I jump on guys?
Last cycle I had 9 day LP. Currently on CD18, either 4 or 5DPO (had peak test day 12 evening and again day13 morning so could have ovulated Day 13 or 14). Expecting AF around the 5th and going to really try not to symptom spot this month. It’s reassuring knowing others have short cycles/LH too

CooperLooper · 30/01/2020 14:42

So sorry @Beau2020x 😔 fingers crossed for your next cycle, at least you know it's definitely possible now.

@Wearenotyourkind what agnus castus dose are you taking now? I've just been taking one tablet a day from the pack I got from Holland and Barrett, just checked online and they're 4mg x

Wearenotyourkind · 30/01/2020 14:25

Ah sorry to hear that 💗 hope you're doing okay 💗 yes onto the next cycle 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Beau2020x · 30/01/2020 13:38

@CooperLooper @Wearenotyourkind deffo a chemical for me girls. On to CD3 for me now! I'm looking forward to this cycle and hoping to god it's more positive this time around!

Wearenotyourkind · 30/01/2020 13:29

I'm similar to you @CooperLooper - CD5 so hopefully waving goodbye yet to AF after today. Not long till we'll be in our FW though. I've doubled the doses of Agnus Castus, Evening Primrose Oil, Vit B and C from this cycle - still within guidelines, I just started on lowest dose. Really hoping my LP will be longer this cycle. Hope everyone else is okay? Did AF arrive yet @Beau2020x?

CooperLooper · 30/01/2020 13:07

How's everyone doing? Beau or Trying did you test again, any luck?

I'm just tootling along on CD6. Nothing to report - what a boring stage in the cycle!

Trying2019 · 28/01/2020 22:23

@lunamoon1 ive decided folic acid and vitamin c only this month. Id rather my bloods be tested with no supplements plus loads of people get pregnant when they take nothing. So part of me thinks all these supplements may be a myth or a con. Id drop the vitamin c as well but think its good for general health so not sure. I just read another post and the girls b12 was high and she was told to stop supplements by doctor so dont want to do more harm than good xx

lunamoon1 · 28/01/2020 21:24

@Trying2019 it is so tricky to know what to do for the best, you here of all these stories of women trying this and that and getting their BFP's, but really there's no knowing whether they would have gotten their BFP anyway or if it was down to the concoction of vitamins/diets!

@Makeafamily19 that's good, yes they always do that out of a matter of routine, I'm sure when you next go if you ask they should be happy to tell you everything you've had done! I always see the vitamins like vit c, folic acids, omega-3 ect can't do any harm as you can take them when you're expecting too! I asked DH to take a multivitamin too, I mean it can't hurt can it lol! I am yes, praying this month is our month🙏🏼

Trying2019 · 27/01/2020 20:28

@Makeafamily19 thanks ill do that. It seemed to take forever to get to bright red flow last cycle. I need to ring up really and see how soon in advance i need to book the appointment x

Makeafamily19 · 27/01/2020 20:24

Oh and @Trying2019 I wouldn't count spotting for the blood test, do it on CD3 of bright red flow.

Makeafamily19 · 27/01/2020 20:22

@lunamoon1 I'm not 100% sure as he was just looking at his screen ticking boxes! I know progesterone is the main one but also some tests for thyroid and STDs as apparently you would have to test for those before fertility treatment anyway so may as well get them done. I'm intrigued to know if there were any others though.
You're in your TWW aren't you?

@Trying2019 thank you, I hope we all get a BFP soon!

Maybe I need to add vitamin C to the mix as well 😂 I'm on so many pills I have one of those weekly pill boxes! AC, vit B complex, folic acid and omega 3 with primrose up to ovulation. This month started DH on wellman conception as well.

Trying2019 · 27/01/2020 19:27

@lunamoon1 i started a 500mg vitamin c this month. I've taken vitamin b complex for three months now and also added an extra vitamin b6 this month and this month im spotting 9 DPO so if anything im worse. I know you shouldnt count spotting but id much rather not have it. First couple of cycles i took coq10 and vital DHA but they were expensive. I had 12 days before any spotting when i was on them but long cycles so i cant win really. I have to have a blood test day 3-5 of my cylce but not sure whether i count spotting and then 7 days after ovulation so im going to attempt temping this month to pin point ovulation correctly.

@makingafamily19 my doctor advised every other day. Hope you're doing ok and this is your month xx

lunamoon1 · 27/01/2020 18:49

@CooperLooper that's good, so important to stay as positive as possible!x

@Trying2019 sorry it's not your month, but as you said it's a step in the right direction! when are you having your tests done? with regards to your vitamins ect do you take high dose vit C? There's been a few studies which have shown it can help with progesterone in the luteal phase, I really only take that my folic acid & vit d. Have just started taking omega-3 but that's nothing to do with TTC just don't get enough in my daily diet x

@Makeafamily19 fingers crossed for you! I think unless your partner has low sperm count there's no harm in doing every day if you can, but if you can't every other manages just as will I'm sure!Smile what bloods did your GP do for you?x

Makeafamily19 · 27/01/2020 18:26

Sorry for those with AF/ spotting, it's crap 🙁
And sorry to hear it may be a chemical @Beau2020x but maybe the wee was too diluted since it's still early.

I think I'm ovulating today/tomorrow as got a peak smiley yesterday, bang on time CD10 again. I'm never sure whether to DTD everyday or every other day as there seems to be conflicting information.
Counting down the days till my GP appt to discuss my blood results and next steps now on 5th Feb.

Trying2019 · 27/01/2020 18:25

@CooperLooper yes its nice to know we have a back up if things dont go our way. Im tempted to just take folic acid this cycle. Since ive started taking everything else i seem to be getting worse but dont know what to do for the best. It might be good to get my bloods done with no supplements x

CooperLooper · 27/01/2020 18:01

@Trying2019 definitely good to have peace of mind, even just having a future plan in place makes you feel more reassured x

Trying2019 · 27/01/2020 17:50

@trying2019 i did thimk orange was a good sign but this just feels more like the start of AF. Weirdly i feel sad but not half as bad as last month. My doctor was amazing. I did say it was nearly 12 months though. She even said if my tests and my husband's come back normal she will refer us to the fertility clinic because im 34 whereas if we were younger she would tell us to keep trying. So that gave me peace of mind. xx

CooperLooper · 27/01/2020 17:45

Aww sorry @Trying2019, I was just going to say orange coloured CM is a good implantation sign, but if you think AF is starting then that's rubbish ☹️ can I be nosy and ask about your blood tests - were the doctors quite open to doing some tests then? Or did you need to give them a push?

Trying2019 · 27/01/2020 17:22

@Beau2020x will keep my fingers crossed for you. Im definitely out now lots of brown CM and cervix feels low and slightly open. I wonder what the hell has gone on this month. Never spot this early. Makes me think maybe the egg fertilised tried to implant but progesterone was low. Either way least i had some positive signs this month and im getting blood tests done x
