Short LP & cycle success stories

Hello everyone. I'm hoping for some help. TTC#2 had an unsuccessful pregnancy (termination) 3 years ago. Conceived 3rd cycle of coming off pill last time, cycles were 28-29 days. I'm a 28.

Had nexplanon implant out September and had very short cycles since 23-24 days. I ovulate around CD14-15 and then my LP is only about 8-9 days long.

Does anyone have any success stories in similar situations and any advice on lengthening cycle? I've been taking sertraline 100mg for the last 13 months, reduced my dose down to 25mg the last month and now I have stopped completely. CD1 today. I also have been drinking 2-3 coffees a day - could any of these effect my cycle?

Thank you all 💕 any advice welcome

@Nat4392 sounds promising ☺ hopefully she doesnt make an appearance at all but if she does it definitely sounds as if things are heading in the right direction for you x

Nat4392 · 05/02/2020 06:44

Made it to 10 DPO this month! Well usually AF arrives as soon as I wake up so I’m assuming she’s not visiting today...
Ironically I was awake worrying about AFs arrival all night so I’ve had no sleep. Woke up feeling nauseous but think this is more to do with anxiety rather than being a symptom.
My cycles have been different every month so not getting too ahead of myself. I’ll test at weekend if AF doesn’t arrive 🤞🏻

Trying2019 · 04/02/2020 22:01

@cooperlooper im the same id love to temp just to known I definitely ovulated and to know when I ovulate after positive surge so i know whether my LP is actually short or not. Ill keep trying xx

CooperLooper · 04/02/2020 21:22

Yeah as long as it's roughly the same time every day you'll be fine :) I love temping and seeing my chart, I find it pretty fascinating. It's also reassuring as well, since my cycles are all over the show at least I know I'm actually ovulating x

Trying2019 · 04/02/2020 20:21

@CooperLooper thank you. Hopefully it'll settle. I do tend to always wake for the toilet though. Tempted to just take my temp when i wake if its been 4 hours rather than wait for 6 but dont want to get in that habit every day. I just want to confirm ovulation this cycle then potentially stop temping but i do like seeing everyone's graphs i find it interesting x

CooperLooper · 04/02/2020 19:28

@Trying2019 yeah possibly, the advice is to temp after at least 4 hours uninterrupted sleep. The first few days I started temping I kept waking up at all sorts of hours thinking about it, but it settled after a few days.

If you do get up for a wee or whatever and it hasn't been 4 hours since, then on most BBT tracking apps it lets you mark that days temp as 'abnormal' and it'll remove it from your graphs and ovulation analysis. So IMO probably still useful to take your temp anyway to get into a routine regardless, but mark it as abnormal 😊

Trying2019 · 04/02/2020 10:03

@CooperLooper i need some temping advice please 😃 started monday morning. Set my alarm for 6 but woke at about 3.00 didnt get up or anything so took my temp at 6. Today i woke at about 4.30 didnt get up again even though desperate for toilet and tested again at 6.00. Im thinking that waking up in the night is just going to make my temps all over the place. What do you think? Xx

Makeafamily19 · 03/02/2020 08:02

@Trying2019 yeah I hope we both get either some answers or a BFP soon! It's just all the waiting and not knowing that sends you loopy! Fingers crossed for all of us on this thread!

Trying2019 · 02/02/2020 21:43

@Makeafamily19 be good for you get peace of mind. I think the worse thing would be hanging around waiting when there could be an issue. Better off knowing now as we will have to find out eventually anyway. I really hope its not too much longer for us all on here xx

Trying2019 · 02/02/2020 21:40

@CooperLooper hopefully the supplements will help and your body has settled down a bit. Im quite interested to temp actually. Dont think ill donit every month but be good to know when i actually ovulate after my peak ovulation strip. I dont have a fitbit so will have to use my normal alarm. Im normally a pretty good sleeper so should manage to get back to sleep ok. Xx

Makeafamily19 · 02/02/2020 21:39

@Trying2019 he hasn't yet, I'm assuming that's the next step. Last time I went about something else and mentioned TTC so gp sent me for bloods and said to come back as a couple next month. I'm looking forward to (hopefully) ruling any issues with DH out but if it is something to do with the sperm at least I know where we stand and can look at options.

CooperLooper · 02/02/2020 20:14

@Trying2019 Isn't it just 😴😴😴 I've been taking supplements for over a full month now so hopefully I'll either ovulate earlier or my LP will be longer this month.

I temp btw and really enjoy it. I've got a Fitbit and have a silent alarm set for 6am every day, which wakes me up enough to temp but still lets me fall back asleep afterwards. Just a suggestion, if anybody else has one. I find it pretty interesting tracking BBT though so that probably helps!

Trying2019 · 02/02/2020 19:48

@CooperLooper boring time of our cycles isnt it. Wish i ovulated day 12 so it would come around quicker 😂

Trying2019 · 02/02/2020 19:47

Sorry AF got you @lunamoon1 hopefully this is our month 😀 im going to temp for this month only as getting my progesterone checked so want to time it properly. I might set my alarm for 6 as i usually wake needing a wee and dont want to have to lie in bed desperate for one till 7 😂 Just hope i get back to sleep after. Im sticking to just folic acid, vitamin c and lots of water.

@makingafamily19 really hope your tests come back ok. Did your partner get a sperm analysis done? I cant remember sorry xx

Makeafamily19 · 02/02/2020 19:14

I stopped temping after a couple of cycles too @lunamoon1 as I wasn't sleeping properly as I kept worrying I was going to forget to take it and it was stressing me more!

I am about half way through my cycle, trying hard to not think about how many Dpo I am or when AF is due. It's so hard to actively try and make your brain not calculate it lol. Just trying to DTD every 2-3 days (even though I know I most likely ovulated last Monday). Drs appt for my results and next steps is on Wednesday evening.

lunamoon1 · 02/02/2020 18:44

Hi everyone! Sadly it wasn't our month, but I did get to 11DPO with AF starting on 12DPO which has never happened happened before so I'm pleased with that. Cut lots of stuff out really and had 500mg vit c with zinc. Going to just do the same this cycle and I'm also going to stop temping as I think it was beginning to stress me out a bit without even realising. I just wanted to confirm ov and I have done that so I've asked DH to hide my thermometer lol. CD2 over here too @Trying2019

How is everyone getting on?

Good luck @Nat4392 🤞🏼

CooperLooper · 02/02/2020 18:39

Nothing to report from my side! CD9, low LH tests, nothing going on really. I'm hoping my ovulation is earlier than CD23 this cycle, otherwise I've got a looooong wait ahead....

Good luck for your test results 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Trying2019 · 02/02/2020 18:37

@Nat4392 fingers crossed she stays away and you get your positive instead. I hate the bad mood that comes with AF. Theres no snapping out of it x

Nat4392 · 02/02/2020 16:31

@trying2019 I’ve had sore boobs and I was in a foul mood yesterday, usually this is a sure sign AF is on her way. Not due AF until around wed/thurs so we’ll see...

Trying2019 · 02/02/2020 15:54

Hows everyone doing?

Im cycle day 2 AF finally made a proper appearance saturday morning as expected. Got my blood tests on tuesday and my husband has his sperm anaysis same day and only 12 days till FW 😀 Weirdly looking forward to the tests but apprehensive of the results

@Nat4392 By PMSy do you have pains or just the bad mood that comes with AF? I know some people can feel it over a week before she arrives so hopefully no early appearence for you. Xx

Nat4392 · 01/02/2020 10:58

Currently 6DPO and really feel like AF is on the way. I’m so PMSy it’s unreal. I really hope she doesn’t make an appearance too early, feel so hopeless this month!!

CooperLooper · 31/01/2020 08:11

@lunamoon1 10DPO is brilliant, double figures!!

@Trying2019 trying I'm exactly the same re: EWCM, in fact the whole CM thing just baffles me because I barely notice any changes. I'm really trying to drink more water this month because apparently that's a good way to increase it

Trying2019 · 30/01/2020 22:14

@lunamoon1 i bet you're so glad that your LP is better. Could be your month 🤞I have ovulated day 18 last three cycles. Its not too bad cos by the time AF is over its only about 10 days till my fertile week. Its just waiting for AF to arrive properly thats annoying. I might in March start evening primrose oil as i never notice EWCM. Ive only really noticed it one cycle. Xx

lunamoon1 · 30/01/2020 20:35

Hi everyone!

@Beau2020x I'm so sorry to hear about your chemical, hope you are feeling okay, onwards and upwards for this cycle!

@Trying2019 I agree, I pretty much cut everything out this cycle except for the basics and although it pushed my OV date back by around 3 days, I'm 10DPO today which is a success, as last month it was 9DPO! Fully expecting AF to arrive tomorrow though...

@Nat4392 welcome! It's always nice to know you aren't in it aloneSmile

I'm slightly jealous of you ladies with earlier ovulation, I don't usually ov until around CD19-23 which makes it a hell of a wait from AF! Wishing everyone all the best for their new cycles... I pray we will all get our BFP's soonStar

Trying2019 · 30/01/2020 20:25

Thanks @Makeafamily19 I Know im not pregnant as i get the same thing every month. Was just curious if it was enough to class as spotting. My bloods are booked for monday so hoping she arrives properly bu Saturday. Xx
