Short LP & cycle success stories

Hello everyone. I'm hoping for some help. TTC#2 had an unsuccessful pregnancy (termination) 3 years ago. Conceived 3rd cycle of coming off pill last time, cycles were 28-29 days. I'm a 28.

Had nexplanon implant out September and had very short cycles since 23-24 days. I ovulate around CD14-15 and then my LP is only about 8-9 days long.

Does anyone have any success stories in similar situations and any advice on lengthening cycle? I've been taking sertraline 100mg for the last 13 months, reduced my dose down to 25mg the last month and now I have stopped completely. CD1 today. I also have been drinking 2-3 coffees a day - could any of these effect my cycle?

Thank you all 💕 any advice welcome

Sorry about AF @Nat4392 what cycle are you on now? It's just shit isn't it. I cry on the way to work every month, sometimes more than others. Mostly my eyes fill and I fight it as I just don't want it to make me so sad all the time.
My spotting started today so that's this month out and it's heavier than the last 2 months so doesn't appear that the AC helped anything! Maybe too early though. Onto cycle 10!

I hate how bitter this 'journey' is making me. I can't stand even seeing kids or pregnant woman at the moment. If there is any mention of babies/ kids/ pregnancy on the radio/ tv, I have to change the channel. There is just so much anger, I know it's not anyone else's fault but it just seems so unfair. I don't even want to see one of my best friends as she has a toddler attached to her hip (sex one time bam accidentally pregnant even with PCOS). Grrrr! At least it's the weekend!

@lunamoon1 I literally burst into tears in my car on the way home, I’m so fed up.
I’ve liked the reflexology so far, been having it fortnightly. Although won’t be keeping it up quite that frequently due to costs.
I’ll be having a large glass of wine tonight!!

Trying2019 · 07/02/2020 17:19

@Nat4392 so sorry. AF is such a witch. Just remember these few days are always the worse. AF is never nice but when you are TTC it's just even worse. Great about your LP though.

I was going to try acupuncture or reflexology but i'm thinking i shouldnt just throw my money at everything so soon when some people drink and smoke and get pregnant easily.

Rang doctors again. My doctor is off till Tuesday so i wont find out the last result till then. So annoying. It's the FSH one she needs to check which typically is the most important. Tried to ask receptionist for the level but she said she couldn't make any sense of it there were too many different numbers. She just said nothing was in red and normally if something is high it will be. Apparently blood tests get emailed to your doctor to check but this one just came back later and the doctor has been off since. So fingers crossed xx

lunamoon1 · 07/02/2020 17:09

@Nat4392 I'm sorry - it's so gutting isn't it! Hope you have a nice weekend planned to cheer you up & then like you said onwards and upwards! How did you find the reflexology? I've been looking into it. I tried acupuncture but it was expensive for what it was and didn't do anything for me. Hugs🤗x

Nat4392 · 07/02/2020 16:18

AF just arrived 😫 so so gutted. Really thought this was it. Onward to next month!

Nat4392 · 07/02/2020 10:53

@lunamoon1 @Trying2019 no I haven’t done anything different, although AF was longer and heavier this cycle so don’t know if that’s anything? I still have a glimmer of hope that AF isn’t here yet 🤞🏻

I’ve had fertility reflexology this cycle actually, I was quite skeptical of it doing anything but maybe that’s it? No idea!

@Makeafamily19 that's good, even to have the knowledge something is being done is reassuring

@Nat4392 sorry about your BNF, it sounded really promising, but take all the good out it you can having a 12 day LP is fantastic! did you do anything differently this cycle? We need to trust in our bodies, they are amazing things really. The usual mumsnet saying though you aren't out until AF arrives🤞🏼

Trying2019 · 07/02/2020 08:07

@Nat4392 Aw gutted as you say though great that you have a normal LP and could still get your BFP if you implanted late. Did you do anything differently this month? Xx

Nat4392 · 07/02/2020 07:37

Caved at 12DPO and did a FRER this morning and BFN (albeit with SMU not FMU). I’m happy that my LP has got to a normal length at least. Not going to lie though, I was convinced I was going to get a BFP as I’ve been nauseous for days now but just think it’s because I’m anxious.

Trying2019 · 06/02/2020 21:26

@Makeafamily19 yes fingers crossed for the last one. Surprised they came back so quick. I'll make an appointment to see the gp after my progesterone check. Husband SA will be back by then as well.

When i start spotting i 99% know im out. Last cycle I at least got a bit of excitement and hope with my pink CM 5dpo. Meant i could test for the first time. On the plus side we are saving a fortune on test Smile Xx

Makeafamily19 · 06/02/2020 20:20

@lunamoon1 no he didn't say, tbh I don't think he would have a clue, he was just following the nice guidelines on referral after 12 months, he is a really nice GP though so I'm thankful for that. After DH SA I will check the referral was done and see if they know timescales.

@Trying2019 that's great news that all is normal so far. I'm sure the last one will be too. I know what you mean about the spotting taking something away. I feel like I never even get to hope as the spotting takes it away, but it teases you as it's not actual AF so there's always what if?? But then again you get crushed and wonder why you were being so stupid!

Wearenotyourkind · 06/02/2020 19:10

Thanks @Trying2019 you've made me feel much better! #LPoverthinkersanonymous

Sounds promising re your blood results! Fingers crossed the last one is all good too. 🤞🏻

Trying2019 · 06/02/2020 19:05

@nat4392 how exciting though. Just to be in a postion to test is nice i think. Spotting every month for me takes away a bit of the what if. Xx

@Wearenotyourkind I wouldn't worry. One month i got loads of flashings next month just two and then a static. Xx

Just went to pick up my repeat prescription so thought id ask how long my blood results would take. They are already in 😃 she said they are normal. One is just waiting to be checked by the doctor. She said that's the normal process. They come in at different times. So fingers crossed that one is normal as well. Im happy but also worried the one they need to check is the most important one. I didnt like to ask which one wasnt ready. Hopefully by tomorrow ill know 100% xx

Wearenotyourkind · 06/02/2020 18:02

That's great @Nat4392! I'm currently CD12. Still having zero on OPKs and I'm panicking a bit as last month, I was having flashing smileys by now - peak on CD19 last cycle. Really hoping my LP is longer this month. Come on, Agnus Castus, help me out 😫

How's everyone else doing?

Nat4392 · 06/02/2020 18:00

@lunamoon1 going to test on Saturday if AF hasn’t arrived by then 🤞🏻

lunamoon1 · 06/02/2020 17:33

@Nat4392 Oh girl you have way more self control than I do, I'm jealous lol! Good luck🤞🏼when do you think you'll test?

Nat4392 · 06/02/2020 12:36

Got to 11DPO! Don’t want to get too ahead of myself if I can help it. Determined to wait longer til I POAS 🙈

lunamoon1 · 06/02/2020 11:40

@Trying2019 thank you, they are! I'm pretty much the same as you, back to basics. I dropped temping, I got what I needed out of it and I think I like going with the flow a bit more, or my body does anyway! How long will you have to wait to get your results back? Is he doing a 'day 21 bloods' too?

@Makeafamily19 I'm glad your tests came back within the right ranges! Did he say how long the wait would be to fertility specialists? He sounds very proactive which is great!

Trying2019 · 05/02/2020 22:01

@makeafamily19 yes double check the instructions are really clear. I think the appointment is to make sure someone is free to test it as it needs to be tested pretty much straight away but maybe everywhere is different. I know i hope its just taking us longer as well but least we are ahead of the game just incase xx

Makeafamily19 · 05/02/2020 21:49

@Trying2019 thanks we will double check. I asked if we had to make an appointment but he said no. Will check the instructions on where to take it and make sure. I work at the hospital but typically it's not the site I work at!
Fingers crossed your tests come back fine too. I'm really hoping it's just taking us a bit longer than most!

Trying2019 · 05/02/2020 21:23

So glad your tests came back normal. Its great that he is referring you even though your tests were fine.I'm good thanks had my bloods yesterday which was day 4. Doctor said between day 2 and 5 was ok so hoping it is as heard a lot of people have them day 3. We dropped off my husbands sample as well. I was worried about getting the timings right with it being a half hour drive. Didnt want the pressure to perform in strict timescales to get to him but he managed to do the sample and deliver it in 45 minutes. Every traffic light was on green felt like our luck was in for once. We had to make an appointment with a set time to drop it off so id make sure your husband rings before you are at your parents xx

Makeafamily19 · 05/02/2020 20:36

@Trying2019 I went this evening. All my tests came back normal apparently. Progesterone 38 and he said anything above 30 confirmed ovulation. Haven't had a chance to look into it yet but wouldn't be surprised if it's a bit lower than average due to the spotting.
He is referring us to fertility specialist at the hospital and my DH has to pick up a sperm testing kit in the next few days. He has to do his sample and then take it to the hospital, they only do it at one hospital in our county which is over 40 mins away from us and it has to be tested within an hour. Luckily my parents in law live near the hospital and we are dog sitting in a week so can do it then! Other men must have to do it in the hospital toilet! Crazy!
How are you?

Trying2019 · 05/02/2020 17:21

@lunamoon1 welcome back. Those first few days are always the worse. Glad you are feeling better. Af still here for me seems to last forever with the spotting before she arrives. Im looking forward to my fertile week. Not doing anything special trying to keep going with the water and really need to exercise cos i think that made a difference last month but cant get the motivation. My temping isnt going great either. Going to aim to DTD every 3 days then every 2 in FW so sperm is nice and fresh 😂

@Makeafamily19 how did you get on today? Xx

lunamoon1 · 05/02/2020 12:21

@Nat4392 keeping my fingers crossed for you! keep us updatedSmile

Thanks ladies, took a few days out to be sad about AF arriving & now back to it! Only one thing for it lol. I'm going to try to not overanalyse this month & just do IC OPK's, think I have overcomplicated the process when really all it requires is DTD at the right time!

How is everyone else?x
