Short LP & cycle success stories

Hello everyone. I'm hoping for some help. TTC#2 had an unsuccessful pregnancy (termination) 3 years ago. Conceived 3rd cycle of coming off pill last time, cycles were 28-29 days. I'm a 28.

Had nexplanon implant out September and had very short cycles since 23-24 days. I ovulate around CD14-15 and then my LP is only about 8-9 days long.

Does anyone have any success stories in similar situations and any advice on lengthening cycle? I've been taking sertraline 100mg for the last 13 months, reduced my dose down to 25mg the last month and now I have stopped completely. CD1 today. I also have been drinking 2-3 coffees a day - could any of these effect my cycle?

Thank you all 💕 any advice welcome

That's great @ireneadler101 congratulations! Wishing you all the best

@Trying2019 you never know, but at least you can look at the positives and really enjoy your holiday, relax as much as possible

@Wearenotyourkind the TWW is always such a pain (well in our case 1 1/2 week wait lol) how long is your LP usually? you won't have long to go to find out, fingers crossed! I'm 3DPO I think, ovulated much earlier than usual this cycle so that was a nice surprise!

ireneadler101 · 18/02/2020 17:36

@wearenotyourkind It tended to be between 7-9 days. Good luck with your TTC journey!

Wearenotyourkind · 18/02/2020 17:33

Congrats @ireneadler101! How long was your LP? It really helps to hear positive stories of BFPs with shorter LPs. Hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy

Where are you off on holiday @Trying2019? Hope you have a fab time!

I'm 7DPO today - desperately trying not to obsess, but we all know how hard that is! Hope everyone else is okay?

ireneadler101 · 18/02/2020 17:17

I should also add that I was tracking my cycles using TempDrop (an armband which takes your temperature overnight and accurately pinpoints the date you ovulate), and using ovulation test kits.

ireneadler101 · 18/02/2020 17:16

Hey - I had a short LP after coming off Nexplanon too. I'm 34 and we were TTC for 7 months, and was getting quite worried - but I got my BFP on 1 January.

I took pre-pregnancy vitamins (Proceive) as did my husband (who is in his late 40s), and we got our BFP the month we tried using Pre-Seed (a fertility lubricant). Could be coincidence, but I would recommend as it worked for us!

Trying2019 · 18/02/2020 17:10

How is everyone getting on? I dont think i have any chance this month. Only managed to DTD on Saturday and got my positive last night. May try again tonight but think its probably too late. At least i can enjoy a few drinks on my holidays and wont be too disappointed when AF arrives as ill be expecting it anyway xx

Trying2019 · 12/02/2020 22:21

@CooperLooper my cycles were all over the place to begin with but my LP was fine. Id definitely get yourself to the doctors you will feel so much better just for going. Well third time lucky DTD so we are back to normal 😂 I felt stressed about it as when AF comes the thought of another FW is horrible. It definitely is a mental thing the more he thinks about it the harder it is but now its done he should be fine for FW xx

CooperLooper · 12/02/2020 19:00

@Trying2019

Yeah I hope so, but last month I ovulated on CD23 and only had a 4/5 day luteal phase. The month before that I ovulated CD18 and had a 9 day luteal phase. So it looks like my cycle length might be consistent but it's late ovulation that's causing me the problems. Before that I had a 50 day cycle so I don't even know what happened then. I'd be happy having longer cycles if it meant I could have a longer luteal phase.

I feel you. There's a lot of pressure to have sex during the fertile window. Luckily my husband is alright so far, I'm the one in our relationship who's feeling the pressure and just generally unhappy over the whole unpredictable cycle length etc. Hopefully he can work through it for you, it's probably just a temporary mental block he's got x

Trying2019 · 12/02/2020 17:31

@cooperlooper I used to find the later I ovulated the longer my LP so i wouldnt worry too much. Hopefully you peak in the next couple of days. My FW should start tomorrow with ovulation on Tuesday. Hoping we managed to DTD friday and Sunday at least and maybe Monday as due to have a tooth out Tuesday. Felt a bit anxious about it today as DH appears to be thinking about ovulation a lot and then getting stage fright or can't finish. He was fine last month and up until this week. I keep telling him i dont ovulate till end of next week to keep the pressure off but he goes on about the 5 days before. Trying to not make a big deal out of it Xx

CooperLooper · 12/02/2020 12:40

CD19 for me with no LH peak or BBT rise yet 😴 looks like another late ovulation for me this month - I'll have to wait and see what my LP length is like on the other side. If I have another short LP after late ovulation this cycle I'm going to see my GP about it, not sure what they can do at this stage and the advice will probably to wait for longer to see if my cycles right themselves, but I'll go anyway for my own peace of mind.

Trying2019 · 10/02/2020 18:17

@Wearenotyourkind great news on your static. Im guessing your estrogen had already risen when you start testing this month and thats why you went straight to static. I have a feeling i may ovulate earlier this month. I dont really want to though as ive booked a holiday for my march FW 🙈xx

Wearenotyourkind · 10/02/2020 08:28

Good to hear from you @CooperLooper.

I've had my static smiley this morning...no flashing smileys this month. Slightly irritating as would have DTD during flashing smileys too. But hopefully DTD today and tomorrow and maybe Wednesday will cover it. Typical I've woken up with a cold though 🙄 the good news is, it looks like I'll ovulate 2 days earlier than last month, so even if it's another cycle of 27 days, my LP will be extended by 2 days, so that's positive.

CooperLooper · 09/02/2020 09:35

Hmm... maybe I'll take AC up to ovulation then, I'm still taking b6 and b-complex so hopefully that'll sort my LP out on the other end

Can't be doing with those squinter posts when it's their first month of trying either. Happy for them etc etc but pls fuck off at the same time 🙄 although I sometimes read through the infertility boards too @Makeafamily19 because I do like the happy ending ones with people trying for years or with issues and they finally get positives, so that's nice

We've only been trying for 5 months which I know is barely anything in comparison, I guess I thought it would have happened by now - so it's just making me lose a bit of interest in constantly reading and researching about ovulation and conception etc all the time

@Trying2019 that's interesting about CM, I'm still not noticing anything different this month either and I'm really trying to up my water intake... I'll try it and see if checking after exercise makes a difference, you might be on to something there

Trying2019 · 09/02/2020 09:05

Hi @CooperLooper welcome back. I have heard only take AC up to ovulation not sure why. I am the same with the is it a line posts. Especially when its really obvious and they have only been trying a month or two. I do like the ones when the OP has been trying for ages though. Feel so pleased for them. I tend to just check the posts im on now as get all the support i need on this one and one other that im on. I sometimes read the relationships one. Such crazy stuff on there it makes me feel better about my life 😂 ive also discovered after mentioning CM the other day that i get loads more if I exercise. I think i probably have it all the time but it stays higher up near my cervix and then exercise pushes it down so I notice more. Worth a try if you dont notice any xx

Makeafamily19 · 09/02/2020 08:18

@CooperLooper I know what you mean, I stick to just checking a couple of threads now and I've started reading the infertility ones as strangely I find they make me feel more positive.
I tried AC this month and took it the whole cycle but I don't feel it's made any difference, my spotting is actually heavier and no difference to PMS. I only took 1 a day and the box says 2 though. Maybe it takes a few cycles to work but I think I may stop it for now as I don't want to mess my cycle up.

lunamoon1 · 08/02/2020 20:32

@Trying2019 it won't be long for us all, I really hope!

@Wearenotyourkind the 3 months I used them I differed quite a lot, 8 days of flashing then 5 then 10 so it really just depends! I'm done using them though they cause me more trouble that use. Stick with it this month though, you will get your solid soon

@CooperLooper welcome back! hope you are doing okay. I feel the same, it's nice and torturous all at the same time... I hope you so. Pretty much from what I've read it's up to ovulation but if that doesn't work then switch to throughout the whole cycle. I was interested in AC but am going to just try high strength vit C & zinc this month & if it doesn't work try AC next. Really hope it works for you! You are right... we are bound to!🙏🏼

CooperLooper · 08/02/2020 19:34

Hey everyone just checking in. I've switched Mumsnet off for a while, sometimes I really love the BFP/squinter posts but lately I'm just a bit sick of them all and tuned out for a while, and put conceiving to the back of my mind.

I'm CD15 today and my OPKs are slowly getting darker, I think I'm maybe a day or two away from my peak, so fingers crossed I ovulate CD17-18 this month which is a bit more 'normal'.

Still taking my millions of tablets too. What's the general consensus on agnus castus - take it every day or only up to ovulation?

Statistically we must be getting at least one BFP on this group soon, I'm keeping all my fingers crossed for everyone 😬🤞🏻

Trying2019 · 08/02/2020 11:31

@wearenotyourkind i wouldnt worry about not getting as many as last cycle it can vary. Is your cycle normally regular? Id start testing a bit later and save yourself some money. Once u get a flashy test twice a day but use a cheapy the 2nd time and if it looks dark then use the CB to confirm. Just try to have sex every 3 days if your not regular or every other. Ive read people who didnt get a static but got pregnant the same cycle. Xx

Wearenotyourkind · 08/02/2020 09:51

Is anyone else using the CB advanced OPKs? I used them for the 1st time last month and got 7 days of flashing smileys from CD11 before my peak static smileys at CD18/19. This month it's different - I'm now on CD14 and still no flashing smiley. Am I overthinking it? (There is a strong chance of this 😂)

Trying2019 · 08/02/2020 09:41

@Makeafamily19 @Nat4392 so sorry that you are both feeling so shit. Ive been there and its just horrible. It will get better in a few days though.

@lunamoon1 will be the first pregnancy for me when it finally happens. I'm excited to experience it all xx

Realy hoping to see some positives in this group soon xx

Nat4392 · 07/02/2020 19:51

Thanks everyone, it really helps to know you’re not alone when it comes to feeling like this every month. The wine is going down well and I’ll see what next month brings ❤️

Wearenotyourkind · 07/02/2020 19:36

Argh sorry to hear this @Nat4392 I absolutely feel your pain. The first day of AF is always the worst psychologically. Definitely indulge in a large glass of wine.

lunamoon1 · 07/02/2020 19:29

@Nat4392 sorry never mind my question, I have just seen your reply about it being cycle 5, whoops!

lunamoon1 · 07/02/2020 19:28

@Nat4392 I'm not surprised, it's so tiring isn't it! I know we will all get to where we want to be though, and it's nice to know we are all in it together. How long have you been TTC if you don't mind my asking? Agreed, it's so much money! Hope the wine tastes good, I'll be having one too🥂

@Trying2019 that's good news about your results, keeping everything crossed that everything will be within 'normal' range🤞🏼

@Makeafamily19 it does, it suddenly makes you see everything you don't have and it's heartbreaking, I try to remind myself when the jealously sets in when I see people with babies that they might have had a long/difficult road to get there... I know most of the time it won't be true but it takes the edge off for me

Will this be first pregnancy for all of you ladies? It's lovely to meet you all too😊

Nat4392 · 07/02/2020 18:31

@Makeafamily19 this was only cycle 5 so far which I know is nothing and I need to realise it’s still early days. My best friend fell pregnant on her first cycle and she sent me a picture of her scan today which just tipped me over the edge. I’m immensely happy for her but I did not need that today
