TTC - first cycle - baby #1

I thought I’d create a space for people like me who are in their first cycle of TTC for baby number 1! Be nice to progress and learn together!

I do rely heavily on the advice of people further along in their journeys but I also love speaking to people in the exact same boat as me who are clueless about all of this and just starting on their journey. It’s comforting to know we’re not alone and not crazy haha!

If you wanna join (please do) then maybe share your CD, DPO and AF due date (if you know it).

I am:
CD - 18
DPO - around 2 or 3 can’t be sure
AF due - 16th December

I am just off the mini pill on which I had semi regular AFs and I stopped the pill on CD 1, when my last AF started. So I can’t be sure of anything other than my CD!!

I fell down the stairs earlier tonight.

I'm okay, a little bruised and banged up but otherwise fine.

It's weird what TTC can do to you because the first thing I thought was please don't let this affect this cycle!

I'm not sure when I ovulated but if I ovulated on the average (day 14) then I'm 7dpo which is around usual implantation which is a precarious part so I hear. 😖

@SpimblesDimbles and @zinrepus

We're all due our AF around the same time!!

Hopefully we all get our BFPs at the same time ❤️

@Blondeandbroody @Readyforthis I think the plan is to play out this week and see how I get on... If no AF by next Sunday then I'll test again, if still BFN then I'll phone and make a doctors appointment. It means I'll be 14 days late and should most definitely be registering as PG so fingers crossed doctors will be able to have some further advice.

Who knew that it was such a waiting lark? I've spent the last 15 years being worried I'd get pregnant any day by having unprotected sex, why don't people tell you how difficult it can be TTC?!!

SpimblesDimbles · 08/12/2019 18:53

Hello! :)

CD 18
5 DPO
AF due on the 18th.

This is our 1st month trying and I am using the 'Flo' app to track my cycle. I have been a bit of a symptom spotter and have had some tummy cramps, dizzyness, felt sick and have had some spells where I have been really warm!

I am promising myself not to test until AF doesn't appear, just hope I get that far!

zinrepus · 08/12/2019 08:54

Hi all! Joining in if you don't mind!

CD20
6DPO
AF due on 17 December

First cycle TTC #1, I'm 31 DH is 27. I was on the copper coil, which I had out just before AF last month. I'm trying to wait until the 16 to test.

I've been using Clue religiously for years and recently added in Flo on a pal's recommendation. I complicated things by adding Fertility Friend and Ovia with about a year's back data, which of course has me worrying, as Ovia puts me 3DPO and the rest at 6. - _-

Adding to the fun, my cycle is flexible, usually ranging from 26 to 34 days, exacerbated by stress and travel... And I've got a 10 hour flight coming up on the 11 so...yeah. Driving myself a little crazy but hopefully the panic packing keeps me distracted...

I did get some cheapie tests in the post yesterday, which helped for keeping me from testing unnecessarily early... But we're still ages away from the 14 DPO which has the highest positive rate...

*the ones I used, not thrones I used!!

@Newbie1992 I thought I'd join you in breaking our pact 😂😂

However I went into it laughing at myself knowing it would be negative and as stupid as it sounds I kinda just wanted to do one (or 4) to know what it's like! I have done one before after a scare a few years ago but I was hoping it was negative then haha (it was) and I don't really remember it.

And yes I used 4 I was scared I'd done the first two wrong as I used two different types so I could see the way they worked 😂 I have a purchasing problem I have some FRERs, some Sainsbury's ones and two packs of different cheapies off eBay (thrones I used)! So I have plenty of stock and hoping I won't need them all 😂. Clearly I got excited when we decided to start trying...

I don't feel bad that it was negative as I knew it would be!

I'm so weird cause it's actually just made me more excited for the day I take one and a second line shows up. Let's see how long this lasts!

I genuinely didn't know or remember that the control line isn't already there before you POAS, so I was a bit confused at first and just sat and watched them work.

Readyforthis · 07/12/2019 16:57

@Blondeandbroody oh yeah definitely, but I don’t think that will be stopping us testing as soon as we possibly can. I think give yourself a target day and then you have a focus and something to stick to.

@newlymarried2019 I second what @Blondeandbroody has said, go get a more sensitive test, I have read a couple of stories of where it’s taken a while for a BFP to show.

Blondeandbroody · 07/12/2019 14:02

@newlymarried2019 go get a better and more sensitive test and try again?

If that still says negative see how you feel on Monday and ring the docs? Xx

LONG POST ALERT

Hi ladies, this is my 4th cycle of TTC #1. AF was due Monday so I'm now 5 days late. I'm on day 35 of my cycle of a normally 29 day cycle... I tested yesterday (albeit after work and not with FMU) but I'm just getting BFN..

I had some slight spotting on Weds which i assumed was AF starting but blink and you would've missed it, and I'm typically a quick 3 days of AF and then im done.. So spotting is very out of the ordinary.

I feel incredibly bloated, very sick at different points of the day and so exhausted... Although this could all be because its almost the end of the term and I'm a very exhausted teacher that can't wait for Santa and the Christmas break!

Now what do I do?! DH has suggested just waiting until later this week and then properly testing with a more sensitive Clear Blue digital, rather than the cheap 25ml Internet sticks I've been using... Then if nothing happens, request a Dr's appt. Although, I'm miserable just waiting. What if something is genuinely wrong?!!

Blondeandbroody · 07/12/2019 13:06

@Readyforthis I'm so impatient too but I think the more I read about chemical pregnancies and the disappointment of people who get a faint line then nothing it puts me off testing. Doesn't mean in a weeks time when I could technically get a result in a test I won't do one haha cause I am impatient!! My goal is to wait another 7 days minimum! I'm due in 11 days so we shall see.

@Symptomspotter86 least you know there's still a chance just try and remember that disappointment you feel when you get the urge to POAS until it's closer to when you're due. Theoretically you can only see something from 9-12dpo anyways so don't be too disheartened x

OP posts:
Symptomspotter86 · 07/12/2019 11:07

I stupidly tested this morning on a FRER and got stark BFN and it wasnt even FMU. I'm only 8DPO and maybe even only 7DPO as not entirely sure when I actually ovulated. Stupid really as now I'm just super disappointed. Hate this waiting game

Readyforthis · 07/12/2019 10:54

@Blondeandbroody yeah that’s exactly the approach we are going to take, its all we can do really. I’m such an impatient person which I know won’t be helping. Well I’ve started my withdrawal bleed now so that’s good

Blondeandbroody · 07/12/2019 10:26

@IslayBrigid I've never done OPKs but I can only assume that the stronger the line the more positive it is? I say get getting busy haha ,

OP posts:
Blondeandbroody · 07/12/2019 10:25

@Readyforthis the worst part I have found is not knowing where I'm at with my cycle so I've been trying for the last 3 weeks to just adopt the see what happens and take each day as it comes and hopefully soon I'll have a better idea (or a BFP). Best thing you can do is just DTD every couple of days or regularly enough so that you catch it you ovulate when you aren't expecting it etc to give yourself the best chance and then see how you get on once your cycle regulate better? Xx

IslayBrigid · 07/12/2019 10:15

Hello! Great idea to start a thread on this. I am also in the same boat, cycle 1 of TTC. I'm on CD 14 today and just got a positive LH test. Actually, what do you guys think? Is the bottom stick positive would you say?
Looking forward to following everyone's journeys!

emstone · 07/12/2019 09:53

@Blondeandbroody I was chatting to someone else and they gave birth to their DC 9 months and 10 days after having the implant removed!! I think she was very lucky haha!

My plan of action is to see how things go for now, I have a lot of other things that I need to concentrate on (being away for Christmas, organizing my partners 30th, wedding stuff) but I'm using a couple of apps to try track how things go.

Once things have calmed down a little around end of February time and I still haven't got a BFP, I'll try tracking with OPKs a bit closer? I can get quite obsessive about things so don't want to get sucked in too much but I know it's probably inevitable haha!

Readyforthis · 07/12/2019 09:25

Hi ladies, I stopped taking my pill on Monday so still all very new. I usually have my 7 day break bleed 3/4 days after the last pill but nothing as of yet. I just want to know where I am at with cycles. I have got OPKs to try afterwards. Feeling like I need to prepare myself for a potentially long journey with this. Wishing I had stopped sooner 😩

Blondeandbroody · 07/12/2019 09:23

@Batjk8484 I would definitely make an appointment so that they can confirm what's going on for you! Fingers crossed for you lovely xx

@Newbie1992 you broke our pact 😱 !!! Haha oh who are we kidding we both knew we would!

I've started worrying that my apps are wrong saying I'm due on 15/16th because my October AF and November AF were 30 days apart so I've adjusted my apps for a 30 day cycle just so I'm not sat on 16th which would be a 28 day cycle thinking she's late. So I've got until 18th now!

I had some cramps the other day for 2 days and now everything I feel that's in my stomach/lady area I feel is something and then proceed to google everything!

I had a low cervix and convinced myself I wasn't pregnant then it was high again and then I read somebody say cervix changes only matter at like 12dpo and I'm no more than 6/7. mucus just confuses me and I don't actually know wtf it means ha! I'm trying to chill a bit in the symptom spotting!

We have a big occasion for my OH this week so I don't want to test until at least next weekend because I don't want to distract him from all of that and I won't be able to not tell him if I were BFP. I won't tell him if it's BFN though because he just said tell me when you get a positive.

I've sort of decided I am just going to see what my body tells me over the next 10 days and let that be my guide.

I have read so much on here the last few days of so many ladies getting BFP and then it not sticking and that must be so heartbreaking I want to avoid that if I can by not testing too soon. At least you know now the dangers of testing early as it has you upset but actually it could just be too early lovely so as they say you're not out until AF comes!

With each cycle we also get a better understanding of our cycles. I think I might cave and get some OPKs so that I can know when I've ovulated but I'm not sure I wanna go down that rabbit hole just yet! Hopefully we all get our BFPs though!!!!!

Blondeandbroody · 07/12/2019 09:11

@alfiok haha OMG how easy is it to get sucked in! I had every intention of just seeing what happens and all of a sudden I'm tracking things I didn't knew I could or should!

Fingers crossed for you lovely!

I really hope so to it hasn't sinked in yet I wasnt gonna get my Hope's up till the doctor confirmed and everything

Newbie1992 · 07/12/2019 07:55

@batjk8484 no worries. It can actually be such an isolating time because in your real circle of friends and family it can be hard to discuss, these forums are a lifeline to us all 😊😊 you should be excited for Monday, the best thing is you have had your bfp more than once, that is brilliant no matter what! Let us know how you get on Monday if you want :) fingers crossed for you!!

Batjk8484 · 07/12/2019 07:49

@Newbie1992 Thank you for replying to me I will defo make a doctors appointment on monday I'm so excited but so worried at the same time

Newbie1992 · 07/12/2019 07:45

Hi @Batjk8484 if I were you I would deffo make dr. Appointment! It very much seems you are pregnant !! And whatever they tell you, professional advice is going to be helpful at this time !

Hi to everyone new :)

Guess who woke up in a blind panic and decided to test a whopping 8 days before AF due ??! 🙄🙄🙄 I just hoped, may be my app got it all wrong and it was actually due sooner so I could test ! After convincing myself of that, and then getting a negative, I'm now afraid that in fact the app may have been right and it's just not my month :(

Sorry @Blondeandbroody I broke the pact 🤣🤣 I regret it though, it was just upsetting... I keep thinking I'm having sensations in my abdominal area though so I convinced myself to test 😞😞 how are you doing with it all ??? Not long left to af date xx

Batjk8484 · 07/12/2019 01:45

Hi ladies I have a question I'm so clueless as to what's up
I'm currently 5 days late I got a BFP (big fat positive) of 11 DPO (days post ovulation) with the ic at 10mLu then barely any positives after that then at 19 DPO (days post ovulation) I got a good BFP (big fat positive) on another ic with fmu but the sensitivity on that was 25 mIU and every morning since then I have taken one and still have gotten positive but this morning I took one and a cleablue digi and got a not pregnant then a faint line on my 25miu cheaply test.
Could I still be pregnant ?.
I'm so afraid it would be my first baby
I'm afraid to make an appointment to obgyn and then them tell me I'm not
