TTC - first cycle - baby #1

Blondeandbroody · 05/12/2019 00:32

I thought I’d create a space for people like me who are in their first cycle of TTC for baby number 1! Be nice to progress and learn together!

I do rely heavily on the advice of people further along in their journeys but I also love speaking to people in the exact same boat as me who are clueless about all of this and just starting on their journey. It’s comforting to know we’re not alone and not crazy haha!

If you wanna join (please do) then maybe share your CD, DPO and AF due date (if you know it).

I am:
CD - 18
DPO - around 2 or 3 can’t be sure
AF due - 16th December

I am just off the mini pill on which I had semi regular AFs and I stopped the pill on CD 1, when my last AF started. So I can’t be sure of anything other than my CD!!

Omg I've fallen so far behind on this chat I feel like I can't catch up now 😂😂 I so so hope everyone is feeling good ! And @Blondeandbroody spotting is so so positive !! 😯😯😯

It is definitely a strange time of year to be trying to keep this all under wraps and in a sad way I think I've totally stopped even looking forward to Christmas (my fave time of year) like I have been so so preoccupied !

It's so sweet to hear all you guys symptoms and I'm actually really jealous too :( to be honest I think I'm making things up in my own head but one thing for sure I am having and I've heard it's am early symptom is bizarre vivid dreams ! Literally last 3 nights extremely vivid dreams that are unusual for me ! The rest I think I'm making up like tender breasts and abdominal cramping 🤣🤣🤣

Xx

BoughsOfHolly · 10/12/2019 21:21

I love the positive thoughts list @Blondeandbroody thank you!

I tracked my ovulation this cycle using clear blue advanced digital (which was pricey but I have half the pack left for next cycle if needed). I’d recommend it although it didn’t identify 4 fertile days as both the hormones it detects surged at the same time rather than one then the other! So could have saved some money and bought the one that detects 2 fertile days 😂 you live and learn!!

@zinrepus hi! Thanks for the tips - we’re doing a fair bit of car travel seeing friends and family so can play that card a bit. We went to a festival with friends of friends a couple of years ago and they must have just got their BFP and told us that was why she wasn’t drinking - will do that with our close friends on New Years if we have had good news I think xx

Blondeandbroody · 10/12/2019 21:11

@BoughsOfHolly thank you lovely. I'm going to look for the positives when I get BFNs totally preparing myself it at least trying to prepare myself for them!

Like if it's not this cycle;
At least I'll know my cycle better now
At least I won't be the size of a whale mid August for my due date
At least my child won't be the youngest in their school year
At least I'll be able to fly in summer holidays to go on holiday (maybe)
At least I've got another month of saving £££

That helps, I always have to find those silver linings otherwise I'd actually go mad

I keep thinking of all the positives

Exciting cramping or normal cramping*

zinrepus · 10/12/2019 21:03

Welcome @BoughsofHolly! I have no idea what's happening. Had penny mouth this morning, it disappeared, only to resurface a few minutes ago! I've also gotten some intense cramping so no idea if that's new cramping or exciting cramping...

We're doing some intense travel this break, so if need be, I will be leaning heavily into excuses like jetlag, plane lurgy, and the like.

I'm also usually the instigator for our drinking (we don't drink super heavily, but I'm the one who whips up the eggnog or suggests a trip to a winery) so theoretically nobody will start things if I'm not pushing for it... Here's hoping!

BoughsOfHolly · 10/12/2019 20:52

@Blondeandbroody we had unprotected last cycle and I convinced myself I was pregnant - period was 2 days after I was expecting, too, which didn’t help. Knowing your cycle definitely helps keep your peace of mind so hopefully you can find ways to track it next cycle if no BFP this time. Sending positive thoughts to you xx

BoughsOfHolly · 10/12/2019 20:48

@Blondeandbroody thank you! She is in a different country to me sadly but we talk on WhatsApp and call whenever we can. I’m flying out next May and would love for us to both be expecting by then (fingers crossed!)

Hope everyone is able to take their minds off TTC in the busy run up to Christmas. How are you planning to hide that you’re trying during the Christmas holiday? Fingers crossed we’ll have our BFPs and have something to hide!! I’m planning to be the designated driver as often as I can but would welcome your ideas xx

Blondeandbroody · 10/12/2019 19:41

@BoughsOfHolly of course! The more the merrier!

Ooo that's exciting it would be great if you both got your BFPs at similar times you'll have a real life pregnancy buddy!

Feeling frustrated and impatient again this evening ladies, not had much in the way of any symptoms today. Feel mild cramping at the moment (or do I, maybe I'm just imagining things HA). Got my works do tomorrow so I'm going to enjoy myself in moderation because I had spotting the last 2 days which could be implantation, could just be Mother Nature being wicked and tricking me too! Maybe a couple glasses of wine, I have been tempted to test tomorrow morning and if it's negative I will drink, but it's bound to be negative so I'll just drink anyway! Ha

I just don't know where I'm at in terms of DPO and what not. That's the most frustrating part for me and I actually can't wait to get my AF (BFP would be preferable though!!) so I know wtf is going on! All I know for sure is I'm on CD 23 and we DTD plenty around my fertile window so I feel like we have done everything we can, I just wish I had a better idea of dates and where I'm at!

Hi can I join?

I’m CD15, ovulating today and AF due 25/12. I’m 29, TTC #1, cycle #1. OH is 32.

Really interested to see how you all get on and it is nice to have someone to share the journey with - strange to have something happening in my life that I can’t share with friends and family. Only my best friend and her husband know and that is only because she announced to me she is TTC just as we had decided we would!

Blondeandbroody · 10/12/2019 16:34

@SpimblesDimbles I've not been able to hide the cramps cause when I get them I react and just say cramps and he's like oh okay are you due in and I say no. That's the end of that haha!

He's told me to just tell him when I get a positive test so I don't think he will be thinking much about it in the meantime.

I wish I had that peace of mind as opposed to obsessing every little feeling thinking it's a symptom.

OP posts:
SpimblesDimbles · 10/12/2019 16:22

@zinrepus @Blondeandbroody - its a good idea to log things, ive not done that! but i dont think i have too many anyway. im SO tired today mind, i was yesterday too.

i think if i told my other half about my 'symptoms' he would just tell me to shut up! i told him this afternoon about testing next week and he just looked at me blankly! he wont care until i get a bfp!

its so hard to not get sucked into having every symptom going! placebo effect! haha.

Blondeandbroody · 10/12/2019 14:03

I've been logging all my symptoms so if I don't get a BFP this cycle I'll be better clued up next cycle!

@zinrepus @SpimblesDimbles
Symptom spotter makes you think you've gone crazy haha!

OP posts:
zinrepus · 10/12/2019 09:29

@Blondeandbroody @SpimblesDimbles I'm 100% there on the symptom spotting. I don't want to lean in too much and I sure a heck am not telling DH what symptoms I'm experiencing until I get a BFP.

I don't want to jinx anything, but I swear, I finished flossing this morning and suddenly had a weird taste in my mouth. I knoooooow that coppery tastes in your mouth can be a symptom, but I'm trying so hard to not lean in...need to get to that 10 (ideally 14) DPO for testing, but it is getting hard.

SpimblesDimbles · 10/12/2019 07:49

@Blondeandbroody - im the same! 'was this happening last month?' 'what was going on a month ago?' 'did i feel like this at this time last month?'.

just keeping fingers crossed for a little christmas miracle for us all!

happy tuesday!

Blondeandbroody · 09/12/2019 17:05

@SpimblesDimbles I'm not entirely sure what it was and I can't measure it based on this time in my cycle last month as I wasn't tracking things like a crazy person haha!

I can't work out what's real or not!

I think no matter how excited we get or how prepared we make ourself for a negative we will feel disappointment, that's natural. I'm just trying to balance the excitement with a realistic outlook!

OP posts:
Blondeandbroody · 09/12/2019 17:02

@zinrepus I didn't even know there was a YouTube hole haha!!

I think it's in our best interests to wait! The excited impatience is more bearable than the disappointment of a negative too early in my mind! X

@Blondeandbroody As an epic klutz, falling down stairs is a pretty serious concern of my own. But I do think at this stage you'd be okay...it's really once there are counter-masses that things get scary!

I had a migraine 2DPO, completely with severe nausea that actually had me on the bathroom floor for a moment...which I know is too early, but did make me go, "I'M NOT READY TO FEEL LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME" Confused

Then I remembered I often get a migraine mid-cycle (something something hormonal drop post ovulation?) so that is basically ignorable input.

I have been symptom spotting like nobody's business, though. The best thing I've been doing for myself is rushing to the loo in the morning to wee before I talk myself into POAS too early. We're approx 7DPO now, and I've got a 12 hour travel day coming up Wednesday...so hopefully I can keep my system running until 12DPO.

I will say, watching youtube videos of folks POAS from 8DPO onwards has really made a good impression on me (namely, almost nobody gets a visible result 8DPO, waiting until 10-14 makes WAY more sense). Please someone tell me I'm not the only one down that youtube hole?

SpimblesDimbles · 09/12/2019 16:16

@Blondeandbroody - making ourselves feel sick, hahha. i keep thinking the same too! but i definitely feel off, i have done for about a week - and its not getting any worse or better i wouldn't say, just lingering!

spotting is a good sign though? fingers crossed anyway! just keep your eye on it and see if it continues. ive not had any at all.

lovely break off work then! we are similar where i am, being at work has surely gotta make time to faster!!

@emstone - the waiting game is so hard isnt it! whens af due?

hoping its 1st time lucky, i really am! i know its rather unlikely that it will be this month and i do keep telling myself that but i know im going to be disappointed if i get a bfn!

Blondeandbroody · 09/12/2019 13:03

@emstone

I like to use my Ovia app and count the days past ovulation each day even though it's just +1 each day 😂

I have also been googling the cycle day i am on to see what is floating around on the internet about each cycle day.

I feel prepared for a BFN this first cycle, because I know it's just a matter of luck for it to happen so quickly!

I've had some symptoms but I can't trust myself that they were real haha I've definitely had cramping but that could literally be anything. All the rest might be in my head or unrelated! I've resigned myself to the fact that unless I get any overwhelming symptoms I'm gonna wait a week til my earliest predicted AF due date and see if AF shows up.

OP posts:
emstone · 09/12/2019 12:54

Nothing for me on the symptom front! Kinda just want AF to start and then I can start tracking my cycles. I'm not very good at just sitting and waiting.

I've created a countdown for POAS though so every time I'm bored I just have a quick look at that, I like seeing the hours go down! Even if it is very slowly haha

Blondeandbroody · 09/12/2019 11:43

@SpimblesDimbles I felt like I might be feeling sick this morning but kept thinking maybe it's in my head haha!

I had some spotting overnight or something that resembled it but it was like a pale brown/almost yellow and orangey colour too. No idea what that was ha. It was there when i wiped, soz for TMI, aswell.

I break up in 18th off for 2.5 weeks so I'm stressing trying to get all my work done before then!! Hopefully it will help time go quicker!

OP posts:
SpimblesDimbles · 09/12/2019 10:46

@Blondeandbroody - at least its the weather to be wrapped up! :).

i keep getting dizzy today, and im just sat at my desk! im unsure if i feel a bit sick too?! how about you?

wahooooo! always feel better when monday is out the way don't we :). break up for christmas on the 20th as well! so much to look forward to! xx

Blondeandbroody · 09/12/2019 08:07

@SpimblesDimbles @emstone
Thanks girls ❤️
Got a cracking bruise all up my arm and one on my back/bum 😂
Yeah I'm sure it won't have changed anything at all, I won't know any different if it did so no point worrying about it.

Anybody having any symptoms today? X

PS I know it's Monday, urgggghhhhhhh, but it's another a day closer to Christmas and even better, another day closer to POAS 😂

OP posts:
SpimblesDimbles · 09/12/2019 07:23

@Blondeandbroody - ouch! i hope you are ok other than your bruises! it its SUCH a scary thing to happen isnt it. exactly - it's crazy how our minds go straight to our cycles and what is going on inside, but like @emstone says, i'm sure everything is well protected! xxx

emstone · 09/12/2019 06:45

@Blondeandbroody oh gosh I hope you're okay!!! These things can be a right scare at times! I'm sure whatever is happening on the inside is well protected
