TTC - first cycle - baby #1

I thought I’d create a space for people like me who are in their first cycle of TTC for baby number 1! Be nice to progress and learn together!

I do rely heavily on the advice of people further along in their journeys but I also love speaking to people in the exact same boat as me who are clueless about all of this and just starting on their journey. It’s comforting to know we’re not alone and not crazy haha!

If you wanna join (please do) then maybe share your CD, DPO and AF due date (if you know it).

I am:
CD - 18
DPO - around 2 or 3 can’t be sure
AF due - 16th December

I am just off the mini pill on which I had semi regular AFs and I stopped the pill on CD 1, when my last AF started. So I can’t be sure of anything other than my CD!!

@Blondeandbroody it definitely seems like there isn’t really any one sign that is common for everyone so it makes it so hard to tell. I’m getting so impatient but thankfully I have a full week of work ahead to distract me.

Hope everyone else is surviving the tww alright. x

Blondeandbroody · 15/12/2019 08:48

Both, not 'not'*

@Nmew the only thing I've learned is that cervix position and mucus isn't good for predicting pregnancy only ovulation. They say it's because not can change so much and every woman is different. I've stopped worrying about that now because it was low yesterday and I panicked thinking that meant it was gonna be AF soon but after reading loads it's not a strict rule and some ladies got their BFP after they had a low cervix. Same thing with CM, nine changes throughout the day it can be watery then thicker in the same day x

Nmew · 14/12/2019 21:19

Fingers crossed its a good sign @Blondeandbroody Ive fallen down a rabbit hole of googling, have had such a huge increase of CM, watery kind (TMI) for the past 2 days. Had some cramps too. Hoping good signs for both of us!

Blondeandbroody · 14/12/2019 19:21

Cramps have started briefly I wonder if that's a good or bad sign 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

@nmew and @Blondeandbroody I can vouch for the traditional moon cup which you can usually get at any larger Boots. I've been using it for years for AF and they're fab.

Nmew · 14/12/2019 17:44

I might have to join you on Amazon @Blondeandbroody lol I have considered using them for AF anyways so this might just convince me to buy one! So frustrating that tests like that can still be on the market, I don't blame you for not wanting to trust it.

@zinrepus Tell me about it, so hard to avoid all the festivities right now without someone questioning it!

zinrepus · 14/12/2019 15:13

Yeah I've been testing using some cheapies I got from amazon and only realized after the order that people were giving them not great reviews. Blush

I'm now visiting my folks, but don't want to let on, so I'm waiting for an opportunity to sneak off and get some reliable ones. Doing that while continuing to not drink or get caught avoiding food on the no no list. Confused

12DPO today. If it's a BFN for me, I need to sort out what's causing this metallic taste because it's distracting as all get out.

Blondeandbroody · 14/12/2019 12:55

@Nmew @katybob

I googled this cup thing and it says you put it in right after DTD to prevent the sperm from sneaking out!

Might give it a go!!

I'm off to amazon lolz

I tested again today (against my own better judgment) and BFN on ICs and the same weird shadow line on the Sainsbury's (blue cross one) I've heard bad things about the Sainsbury's ones so I'm not trusting it.

Ordered some more FRERs should come tomorrow so I'll test again on Monday or Tuesday when I'll be cycle day 28/29 of a presumed 30 day cycle.

It's too soon so I shouldn't even be testing but it's addictive! @Nmew @zinrepus

@Blondeandbroody seems like there’s something there, any more updates today? Fingers crossed for you.

I’m only 8dpo so I best wait another few days at least.

I’ve never heard of using the menstrual cup @katybob def worth keeping in mind!

katybob · 14/12/2019 01:15

Hi guys I’m spamming abit tonight but I’ve had some good news a friend of mine ttc for six years has got pregnant after two months of using a menstrual cup. Me and my DH struggled for a year and got a positive after three months. Have a google if you don’t know about it. It might save months of those heartbreaking negative tests .

zinrepus · 14/12/2019 01:03

There may well be something there @Blondeandbroody!

We'll keep fingers crossed for you tomorrow!!!

Blondeandbroody · 13/12/2019 23:21

Just me that sees this? I'm pretty sure it is just me and my eyes wishful thinking and all that

@SpimblesDimbles have you got the mumsnet talk app? It's easier I find x

I tested today as im 6 days before missed period that's the rule on FRER packets but BFN.

Not too disheartened as it's not that accurate at that stage gets more accurate the closer to AF date, gonna wait a few days I think before testing again x if you can wait, wait but if you can't, do it and then see what it says. Not out until AF shows as they say.

I've got zero PMS symptoms and I am fairly sure I get them quite early on (sore boobs mainly) before I'm due! But I've worked myself up about symptoms this week so trying not to read into it anymore!

SpimblesDimbles · 13/12/2019 17:00

hi girls! sorry ive been quiet, i find it so hard to see everything and reply from my phone but also dont want to log on at work incase someone sees my histrory!! hahha.

anyone testing? 10 dpo, should i try tomorrow at 11?!

Blondeandbroody · 12/12/2019 21:43

@Nmew yeah I've been logging everything I've felt as it may mean nothing this cycle but next cycle it might turn out to just be normal cycle stuff and not pregnancy related.

I only finish for work on Wednesday when I'm due AF so I'm gonna try and stay busy with work to pass the time!

Just want it over for this cycle now, either way! BFP or AF

OP posts:
Nmew · 12/12/2019 21:13

I totally agree, everything from a headache to a twitchy eye and I’m googling it haha. Though I have been trying to make note in my Clue app so that if it’s a BFN this month then I can look back and maybe feel a bit more sane next month when it comes to symptom spotting!

Ahh well here’s hoping for no PMS signs!

I’ve been trying to distract myself with housework and Christmas movies as I’m off work this week, will be glad to get back to work to get more distraction. Anything you do to help distract @Blondeandbroody

Blondeandbroody · 12/12/2019 20:25

I think that's the least favourite bit is thinking is this a symptom or just you know normal bodily functions haha! @Nmew

Can't say I blame you for wishing the days away!

I'm due AF on 18th so still 6 days so sore boobs can happen any day now!

OP posts:
Nmew · 12/12/2019 20:18

@Blondeandbroody fingers crossed the lack of normal PMS symptom is a positive sign!

I feel so hyper aware of everything, especially things like nausea, cramping and such, so hard to tell if something is “normal” or not!

Not long to test now though if you are due AF soon, hopefully those days fly in for you! (And the rest of us lol)

*actually 6dpo, I have no idea why I thought it was already Friday Confused

Blondeandbroody · 12/12/2019 19:43

Hey @Nmew welcome!!

Fingers crossed for a BFP right before Christmas for you!

I'm good had some nausea this morning but it's so frustrating because it could have been anything!

I'm also really bloated today! Feel really crappy.

No PMS symptoms yet I usually get sore boobs for a week before but they're fine so far!

OP posts:
Nmew · 12/12/2019 18:55

Hey All! Can I join?

TTC Baby#1, 1st cycle
AF due 22nd Dec
CD - 19
DPO - 7 (I think)
Average cycle is about 28 days. AF usually 3days long.
Used OPKs and found it quite hard to read so used the Premom app to help.
Doing some serious symptom spotting and googling, driving myself crazy lol also no idea how to survive the holiday season without knowing and trying to hide not drinking!

How’s everyone doing?!

Xx

BoughsOfHolly · 12/12/2019 17:42

I’m only 2dpo and trying not to think about it! Think I will test on Christmas Eve morning before we go off to a christmas market - should get a result by then so will know where I stand re: drinking gluhwein or not 😂

@zinrepus looking forward to hearing how you get on in a few days 🤞

zinrepus · 12/12/2019 15:36

And after all my big talk, I cracked and did my first test today after a night of terrible jetlag sleep (approx 10 DPO). Negative, but I also don't expect to see anything until 13-14 DPO. How's everyone else holding out?

Blondeandbroody · 10/12/2019 22:15

Haha @Newbie1992 you can only be part of the TTC crew if you think you're imagining symptoms haha!!
