Depo injection experiences

Hello ladies, just looking for anyone's experiences trying to conceive after the depo injection. I'm currently on my ninth month since my last injection. My periods return six months ago, but no BFP yet.

I seem to be experiencing spotting a fair bit mid-cycle as well. I take ovulation tests, but I don't seem to get a positive. Feeling a bit fed up!

@ForeverHopeful67 how was your Christmas lovely? Any further forward with this spotting?

I thought AF was in full swing on the 23rd Dec, but seemed to have a one day period and now absolutely nothing. Just when you think things are getting back to normal. Could cry honestly 🤦🏻‍♀️xx

@Danielle95lab ah no Sad sorry to hear that babe but loving the positivity and agreed Atleast you don't even need to think about it over Christmas and New Years!

I've had headaches a lot recently and Temp has risen every day for the last 6 days then sharp drop this morning with dark black spotting yesterday. So no idea what this means, I guess it could be implantation but more than likely AF / my body just playing tricks on me!!

Here's to 2020 being our year!! Everything crossed for us both xxxx

Danielle95lab · 23/12/2019 10:57

@ForeverHopeful67 well AF arrived this morning so I'm out this month 😂 but least everything is regulating now and I've had a pretty normal few months, so feeling slightly hopeful.

Here's to 2020, hopefully our year chick xxx

@ForeverHopeful67 hey lovely! I've been better 😂 think AF is on its way. Had very light pink CM tonight. Not due on for another four days. A bit fed up, but at least if AF arrives I can forget about it for a few days and enjoy Christmas haha.

How are you? Are things still a bit all over?xxxx

ForeverHopeful67 · 22/12/2019 23:06

@Danielle95lab hey chick, how are you doing ☺️ xxx

ForeverHopeful67 · 20/12/2019 23:37

@Danielle95lab I'm not sure if I'm positive or delirious now 🤣 I know you don't want to get your hopes up but it really does sound promising! Few more days and time will tell 😊
It is hard to know what's normal though when you have irregular cycles, my EWCM has stopped now and I've had a bit of cramping and headaches for the last few days so like you as I have no idea what means what I just refer to dr google 😂 xxxx

Danielle95lab · 20/12/2019 13:53

@ForeverHopeful67 you're right! You are so positive. The only other things I've had is a bit of tiredness, a lot of creamy CM and I'm absolutely starving all the time!! But as my periods haven't been regular until the past two months, I'm not quite sure what's normal for me and what isn't. But guess you're never out until AF arrives.

Dunno about you but I'm completely fed up of the whole thing now. It's driving me insane, what a long horrible process. All I do is google stuff all the time and read forums xxx

ForeverHopeful67 · 19/12/2019 22:53

@Danielle95lab yeah I think that's for the best I don't know why I bother torturing myself it's always negative haha! I only have one opk year left anyway and purposely haven't ordered anymore so maybe that's a sign Smile

Ah that's rubbish! Was so hoping those symptoms would mean something else other than AF! Hopefully the best Christmas present for you will be her not making an appearance at all 🤞don't lose hope 💖 just think how much closer you are to it happening now than you were 6 months ago xxx

Danielle95lab · 19/12/2019 21:34

@ForeverHopeful67 hey!! Ooo that sounds very promising, maybe the key is to be as relaxed as possible about it and not test all the time.

Still got a cold haha. 8dpo today, boobs are in agony and I'm crampy, so I think AF will arrive on queue in six days. Beyond fed up to be honest 😂😂 xxx

OP posts:
ForeverHopeful67 · 19/12/2019 21:13

@Danielle95lab how are things with you now 😊? Hope the cold has gone!!

Haven't been particularly monitoring OPKs this week but still haven't had a positive. Although I'm pretty sure I've had EWCM for the last three days, and the last two have had the tiniest tinge or blood in- not sure what that means?! xxx

ForeverHopeful67 · 17/12/2019 22:38

@Danielle95lab I'm with you babe 😂 and this is even before we're pregnant!!
Yeah trying to do OPKs but because of the long hours I work I have a feeling even if I do ovulate I could miss my peak. So just trying to not over think and just keep an eye on temp etc see what happens there!

Ah no rubbish hope your cold goes before Christmas! So difficult to not over analyse I'm rooting for you as much as myself at this stage I think!xx

It took a year for the depo to get out of my system.

lucymagoo · 17/12/2019 21:03

Hi! I came off the depo in August and onto the mini pill until this month, looking to TTC in January onwards but concerned how long the depo will take to get out of my system.

Apparently 80% of women coming off the depo get pregnant within a year so that's promising :)

R2D2abc · 17/12/2019 14:22

I had depo injection at the start of November 2018 and didn't do any other afterwards as it didn't help me with the issue I was having. Got my period in June 2019, got pregnant unexpectedly at start of August. Now happily pregnant at 21 weeks. But it was frustrating I didn't have my period for 4 months after it wore out.

Danielle95lab · 17/12/2019 14:03

@ForeverHopeful67 I swear I'm losing my sanity 😂 yeah it could be, you still doing your OPK every day?

I'm full of cold so wouldn't know if I'm experiencing anything unusual anyway right now haha. I had mild cramps and back ache yesterday and heartburn before bed which isn't normal but not over analysing it haha xx

ForeverHopeful67 · 17/12/2019 13:57

@Danielle95lab I'm exactly the same babe, I just think surely our bodies have to sort themselves out soon how much longer can this go on for?!
The weird thing is today I have what I think could be EWCM (I've never had it before!) so now I'm wondering if the bit of spotting could have been ovulation?! - who bloody knows this is such a guessing game 😂
How are you feeling lately ☺️ ?xxx

Danielle95lab · 17/12/2019 08:24

@ForeverHopeful67 yeah I had spotting really bad. Last month I had spotting for two weeks straight (I was convinced it was just my period at one point when it didn't stop and I had a 30 day cycle on average at this point) anyway, it stopped around two days before my period decided to start. Hence the really long 40 cycles began haha.

Even this month I had spotting around a week after AF and I thought oh great period again, but it stopped. But this was much shorter like two days. It's either always brown or light pink. I think our bodies are still a bit all over. It's really really disheartening and I dunno about you but as the months go on, I get to a point where I'm like how long is this going to take 🤦🏻‍♀️ xxxx

OP posts:
ForeverHopeful67 · 16/12/2019 23:34

@Danielle95lab yep we have to take these small little victories as they don't come by very often 😊 although it's definitely easier said than done to not over analyse stuff!

Spotting has came to a halt.. just like everything else really 😂 had nothing at all today! Did you ever experience spotting mid cycle when your periods are settling down? As I feel like almost every two weeks I have a day or so of some sort of brownish spotting / CM and then nothing for two weeks so I can't be sure where I'm at cycle wise ever! Feels like it's taking an age to all settle down xxxx

Danielle95lab · 16/12/2019 11:07

@Tiamo04 did you get your BFP lovely?xx

OP posts:
Danielle95lab · 16/12/2019 08:27

@ForeverHopeful67 well I mean even if it doesn't happen this time, this has been the first most promising month which is something isn't it! I don't think I want to over analysis anything either, like oh I've got a bit of nausea I must be pregnant 😂😂 cause that will drive me up the wall.

Maybe if you're spotting you might be coming close to a proper period? I spotted at the beginning of this cycle, went in a proper mood over it but it was only there like a day. So you just don't know. Honestly depo is lethal, it's mad how different it is for everyone as well. I hope your cycle sorts itself out😫 make sure you keep me updated too xxxx

OP posts:
ForeverHopeful67 · 15/12/2019 22:26

@Danielle95lab thanks chick!
I know my cycles are a nightmare and periods are always extremely light since I've stopped the depo ( barely need a pad at all) but I think that also May have something to do with me never ovulating? Im spotting again today so just going to count this as a period as I think this is as good as it's going to get for me 😂

Ooooh we'll even do that still sounds promising ☺️ keep me updated even if it's just the little random things! It's sometimes easier to write things off rather than to get your hopes up only to be disappointed isn't it! But I still feel super optimistic that things are going in the right direction for you!!xx

Danielle95lab · 15/12/2019 10:17

@ForeverHopeful67 aw how lovely, I hope you're having an amazing time. Nice little distraction from all this I hope.

Oh my word I hope you don't end up like me with 40 day cycles 🙈 everyone's mid-way through their next cycle by the time I finish mine haha. Let me know when AF arrives, then just think a fresh start begins!!

I'm 4 DPO but don't feel very hopeful😂 very very early days but feel no different. Boobs are killing but that's normal for me. The only weird things I've had is very vivid dreams and more discharge than normal (sorry tmi). Apart from that all the same. I've wrote this month off already to be honest haha xx

OP posts:
ForeverHopeful67 · 14/12/2019 23:46

@Danielle95lab hey babe, sorry I haven't replied I'm away for the weekend Smile
Thanks for your positive words and hopeful thoughts!!
It does feel like it's never ending atm and I'm just waiting to be cut a break, currently on CD35 and had a teeny bit of spotting today so I'm really hoping this is the start of
my period so that it's not too far out and still settling rather than non existent again!!
How are things with you Smile any signs of things being any different this cycle now you've had your peak opk?xxx

Dragonboobs · 14/12/2019 07:28

I was on the depo injection for years. I read somewhere about coming off it but going onto the mini pill first - can’t remember where I read it. It was something about it helping cycles to return. Anyway, I did this and was on the mini pill for a year before ttc. I then fell pregnant within a couple of months with both dc. Eldest is 7 now so this was a while ago.

Just thought it might help someone who reads this and is on depo now.

Chickoletta · 14/12/2019 07:20

Sorry to hear people’s negative experiences with the depo. Just to give another side, I was on the depo before TTC with both my DCs. Periods returned after a couple of months and we were pregnant within 2 cycles both times.
