Anyone testing just before Christmas?

Quite upset as the smileys don't have their Santa hats on yet.

AF arrived 2 days ago so I will probably be testing around 21st December (cycles are about 24 days)

Anyone else???

ok so i did something stupid... i tested even though af not due untill 23rd/24th. also not fmu... but i really feel i can see a line. so so so faint the kind that wont show on camera but just when im convinced i imagined it i see it again..ughhh last test i had so deffo WILL NOT be testing again...untill atleast the 20thGrin

debbs77 · 16/12/2019 16:25

I couldn't resist an early test today but no joy.

However, my partner proposed last night! I'm absolutely over the moon!!!

Spark27 · 16/12/2019 13:52

@chlo04 I'd say that's too early. I think I've read something that says that implantation usually happens some time between 6 - 12dpo, and then you need a few days for the hcg/hgc (?) levels to rise enough for the test to pick them up.
While you could be on your way to pregnancy I think it would be highly unlikely that anything would be detected then.

But obvs totally your choice, but even if it's a BFN it doesn't mean it won't happen this cycle. My worry if that if I test too much it will stress me out and cost me a fortune xx

LizzieLottie88 · 16/12/2019 13:48

@chlo04 with ds1 I got a very faint but visible line at 10dpo. I doubt you'd get one at 6dpo altho I'm only 4 and my hands are twitching to poas 🙈 partly because I think I ovulate 4 days ago but by the calendar it should have been 9dpo.
@Spark27 yes I feel you! I also felt nauseas and twinges but then I ovulate later than expected I think so who knows! I can't really remember but I don't think I had any symptoms last time either at this stage which is why I was so surprised when I got my bfp!

chlo04 · 16/12/2019 13:26

@IslayBrigid basically they are the cells that stop you getting poorly and kill off infections etc however mine are very strong and attack my pregnancy's. I'm now on treatment for them and hoping that the next pregnancy will be successful!

If I can bloody fall pregnant!
@LizzieLottie88 @Spark27

Ahh fingers crossed for you both! I'm sure this is going to happen for us all soon! Does anyone know when is the earliest you can get a BFP?! I'm wondering if I tested tomorrow if that would be too soon? I think I'm around 6-7 DPO?!

Spark27 · 16/12/2019 13:05

Thanks for the replies. I really don't want to get my hopes up, or test too early as I know I'll then end up in a cycle of wanting to test constantly. I just used one of the cheap ovulation tests that comes up with a line. I used them when trying for my first. When I saw it this time I definitely thought 'boom, time to DTD'.

I'm feeling the same @LizzieLottie88, I've been so uncomfortably bloated since about 4dpo, at least its jumper weather. And I felt really nauseous the first few dpo, but worried I'm reading too much into it. Esp as I had no symptoms last time.

Hi @chlo04, sorry to hear how difficult things have been for you. Hopefully this is the month. I'm feeling so consumed by this all already and I've only literally just started xx

LizzieLottie88 · 16/12/2019 11:24

Anyone else super bloated? Pretty sure I'm only 4dpo so I may be in for a heavy af 😕 I have had an unhealthy weekend as been visiting family for Christmas but I've never known bloat like it lol! Apart from when I was 6 weeks pg with ds, but I'm definitely not far enough gone for that!

IslayBrigid · 16/12/2019 10:32

Sounds interesting @Spark27! I think opks can pick up HCG but they aren't as reliable. Maybe do a test! If you ovulated on 8 Dec then you must be about 9 days dpo? maybe wait a couple days to let the HCG concentrate.

Welcome to newbies! Fingers crossed for you all.

@chlo04 what are killer cells? That all sounds very hard, I can't imagine. I hope this cycle is the one for you. X

I still have a raging cold - sore throat, runny nose, sneezing etc. My temp is also much higher than usual but again that could be to do with the cold. It's very annoying! I wonder if it's a symptom or if it's going to stop pregnancy! Anyone else had this before bfp??

I've heard it can be a symptom as our immune system lowers so we don't reject the egg & due to increased blood flow. I'm 7dpo today. I think I'll test Fri or Saturday. So 11 or 12 dpo.
I've got small amounts of milky wet cm too but have never checked post ovulation before so don't know if this is normal. Definitely isn't dry there tho!

X

chlo04 · 16/12/2019 08:23

@Spark27

I believe you might be pregnant!!! This happened to me before!! Test test test! 😀 was it a solid smiley on your ovulation test? If so.. your probably pregnant!!

chlo04 · 16/12/2019 08:22

Hi ladies,

Please can I join?

I've been trying for two years now.
3 miscarriages and a ectopic. I've also been diagnosed with high killer cells so I am now on treatment for that.

I also had my tube removed so it feels like it will never happen!! I am due to test on 20th. ( 10DPO) as advised by my doctor.

I've already tested twice and I'm only 6DPO! Why do I do this to myself?! 😂

Good luck this month everyone! I don't know about you all but I'm feeling pretty darn desperate at the moment!!

Spark27 · 16/12/2019 08:04

Right, I'm really confused. Had really bad cramping last night. Went from nothing to full on max pain for about an hour. Felt as bad as when I had a chemical miscarriage a few years ago. Feeling OK this morning but a little bit twingy. Decided to take an opk (no idea why!) and it came back as positive. But I'm sure I ovulated on 8/9th Dec as I had a positive test then.
My last AF was messed up- came 4 days early and continued for 11 days but really minimal bleeding.

Now I don't know what to think. Am I ovulating twice this month? Did I not ovulate the last time? Is my body broken? Am I going mad? Arrgghhh Confused

Loubell19 · 15/12/2019 23:05

@Lexie365 ive been getting sharp pains in my sides as well the past 36 ish hours.. felt similar to ovulation pain. Lots of creamy CM and nausea as well but I felt nauseous with my oestrogen surge as well (I'm straight off the implant) trying not to read much into it.

8dpo now this last week is a killer waiting!

LizzieLottie88 · 15/12/2019 18:48

@Spark27 oh wow you did well then! Let's hope we all do that well this time 😁 but I do feel it highly unlikely for me to get first month. I wish I could be relaxed enough to enjoy a christmas drink as probably not even pregnant anyway or even implanted haha. If I test on Christmas and it's negative I'll have a cheeky baileys 😜 xxx

Spark27 · 15/12/2019 17:08

@LizzieLottie88 I heard they don't until 6 weeks when the placenta grows. Not sure though. If I knew I was I wouldn't, but up til then I'm not too stressed about it. I had a 2 month window to conceive my first as my DH was then going away for 6 months (military) and I know I was drinking a lot before we found out. I was even drinking the night before Grin

Spark27 · 15/12/2019 13:56

I know. We spend so many years making sure we don't get pregnant, and now it's an all consuming desire to get pregnant Grin.

I was really lucky last time and got pregnant 2nd month ttc (and think I had a chemical miscarriage the 1st month). But I don't remember having any symptoms or symptom spotting, but my mind could have blocked it all out.

Anyone having any weird symptoms (or allowinfng themselves to believe they have Grin). I am soooooo bloated, and tired. But that could be life with a 2 Yr old xx

LizzieLottie88 · 15/12/2019 13:54

@Spark27 sound in a very similar boat! I'm so impatient but would like to drink guilt drink if I'm not and look forward to trying again in the new year. I kepe turning down the mulled wine and baileys and it's gonna kill me if it's for no reason 🤣 altho someone told me you dont share the same bloody until 8 weeks pregnant?! Not sure i could risk it though I know many people do and that's fine! X

LizzieLottie88 · 15/12/2019 13:36

Hello! Glad to have found this board. Should also be testing just before christmas. Altho it's first cycle since coming off the pill so not exactly sure on timings. My tracker thought I should ovulate about 6th December but I'm pretty sure it was 12th due to cm and temp (should have got opks). Anyone know when I should expect af to test?! Tracker says 21st but that's too early isn't it? Any help appreciated! It's baby no 2 so you thinks I'd know by know 😂 xxx

AnnaPosie · 15/12/2019 12:42

Hiya I completely understand! We have only been trying for two months and I honestly thought it would happen straight away ! I was the same thinking how easy accidents can happen or comparing my life style choice to people who are pregnant at the moment and wondering how they got pregnant and I didn't , I know it's not the best mindset to have but can't help it ! I feel like it's on my mind so much and maybe that is the reason it hasn't happened yet !

Spark27 · 15/12/2019 11:46

Hey ladies, can I join this thread (although I'm between this and the next one as I'm really not sure). TTC number 2, but only my 1st cycle. My app says I am due on 24th Dec but I'm not really sure as the last period was so messed up. Pretty sure I ovulated on 8/9th though.

Not really sure when I'll test as I'm hopeful, but know its silly after just one month, and don't want to put a downer on Xmas. But also want to be able to drink guilt free if I can.

Good luck to all xx

peachypetite · 15/12/2019 09:31

I came off the pill last Christmas and my periods are still not regular (cycles ranging from 23-36 days). My husband has been really ill with a nasty flu and vomiting bug the last week or so so we haven’t been able to DTD.

TunnocksTcake · 15/12/2019 09:25

@wa1ru5 I believe the thing with OPKs is that they pick up both hcg and lh but they aren't as sensitive as pg tests to if you are getting a line on an lh stick due to pregnancy then you will def get a line on a pg test. I think we get an additional lh surge before af too so that is super confusing!!

My temps keep on rising at the moment which is making me hopeful but I'm trying to ignore it... 10dpo today. Only other time they've been this high at 10dpo was the month I was pregnant which mc. Had a v long sleep too, 9 hours! 😱

wa1ru5 · 14/12/2019 23:42

@IslayBrigid I've never had a true positive, even when I got pregnant with my son it wasn't as dark as the test line, but yes I got a positive (for me) earlier in the month. This was quite a light line today, but a few days ago there was literally nothing. I've never opk'd this close to af though so it is possible it's just pre af but I have everything crossed it's not!

Kkd85 · 14/12/2019 23:32

I have ended up taking strep throat it's so and have had a horrible couple of days on antibiotics now for over a week I jus have a feeling with being so sick I will be out this month xx

ceebee21 · 14/12/2019 22:44

Only just got positive OPK yesterday!

So now due AF on Xmas day...fingers crossed!

At least the wait should go quickly as I’m so busyxxx

IslayBrigid · 14/12/2019 22:05

Welcome newbies! @wa1ru5 I've heard if OPKs stay positive then it could be a sign you're pregnant but can't remember where I read it... and also I do remember reading that it was unreliable! That is odd though. Was it also positive when you thought you ovulated?

@Jessmary94 Thanks for the well wishes! Been much better yesterday and today re: anxiety butterflies so that's good. Have come down with a horrible cold though - stuffy nose and sore throat! I have of course googled and seems like a few people get it in the TWW before BFP so who knows... I'm thinking it could easily just be a common old cold though. I guess we shall see.

Symtomwise - I've got creamy wet CM, I'm very bloated and hungry and boobs are starting to get sore but that is typical PMS stuff and I'm only 5DPO so have to take it all with a grain of salt... also I have never really looked at my CM post ovulation before so no idea whether creamy wet CM is different from what I usually get. I'll be interested to see if I get cramping next week when implantation meant to happen as I never get cramping before my period, only on the first day it starts.

@Ziggystarduck Ahh interesting that you are ovulating later than expected! Well I guess it'll only add on a week or so... hang in there and hope you're not too frustrated! Period is due 23rd so hopefully it'll be clear before Xmas whether I am pregnant and then can either abstain joyfully or get amongst the prosecco :)
