TTC after pregnancy loss - Thread 33- huddle up and bring on the BFP's

Welcome to the 🐧 huddle. This a safe place to get and give support for everyone who has experienced the loss(es) of a pregnancy and baby. Pregnancy and child loss is the most awful thing anyone can experience and it can also be the most lonely time too. I hope you find this thread to be of some comfort.

@SunshineCrocodile I have PMd you based on my experience xx

ReeRi · 29/11/2019 09:09

Oh @SunshineCrocodile I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. I can imagine how upsetting that would be. I haven’t been in your situation but I would suggest calling someone or going to A&E if you are worried about the bleeding. Do you have a number for someone you can call? Sending strength x

SunshineCrocodile · 29/11/2019 09:05

Hi ladies. Sorry for radio silence - it's been a busy week and have finally passed the pregnancy this morning.

TMI/trigger warning - sorry for detail but I feel like I need to talk it through

Frankly horrendous, it's a couple of weeks later than any of my other miscarriages and I wasn't expecting it to be quite so dramatic and frankly bloody. I'm just debating calling the hospital to see if I need to be seen due to the blood loss. Been bleeding lightly for a couple of days then started with cramps this morning and shortly afterwards a big gush of what must have been the waters and sadly the baby came out with them - a proper tiny baby, with eyes and arms and legs. I just wasn't expecting that and it's hit me pretty hard - previous mcs have just been lumps of tissue but never anything identifiable.

Been bleeding very heavily since (so the past 3/4 hours or so), passed quite a lot of stringy tissue and have had to arrange cover for work as can't even stand up without soaking two maternity pads immediately and passing pretty huge clots. Ruining all the nightwear I own at a rate of knots! If anyone has any experience of mc at this stage (I was 13/14 weeks but the baby stopped growing at 10) I'd appreciate reassurance that this amount of bleeding is ok (or not) it's way more than I've had before.

Hope everyone's ok. I'm sorry to be all about me and so tmi, I'll go back and catch up with the thread when things are a bit more settled here.

Reading what all of you say about acupuncture is selling it to me! I might try it in the new year.

I am on CD27. My cycle is usually 30 day and I ovulate around day 14 but I had lots of CM around day 18 so not sure if I ovulated later. I’ve been symptom spotting and was feeling a bit hopeful this cycle but got a BFN on Wednesday evening and again this morning (FRERs).

Now wondering whether I ovulated late or maybe not at all!

Does anyone know if you have an anovulatory cycle does that affect other symptoms you have because of the hormones? I have felt different this cycle but I suppose that could be down to anything...

Avocuddles · 29/11/2019 08:20

@TurquoiseDress I definitely believe that acupuncture can be beneficial. I've been having it for six months now (since my first miscarriage) so have spent something of a small fortune but plan to keep it up. I fell pregnant fairly quickly again after my first loss with a cycle shorter than I'd ever experienced without the support of acupuncture. Acupuncture also helped me through the physical miscarriage process - a scan a week after I passed the sac showed that there was some tissue stuck up inside which showed no sign of budging naturally, my acupuncturist gave me a session intending to get things moving and within a couple of hours it passed. On the basis of this experience I would recommend it not just for those TTC but also for those going through a MMC as it might (for some) prevent the need for medical or surgical interventions.
I'm currently going through a very long cycle (CD 44 today!) which was the norm before my pregnancies and I'm wondering if the fact that I've only had one session so far this month due to holidays / work commitments might be contributing....

TurquoiseDress · 28/11/2019 23:02

Posted too soon!

The only thing that seemed to make a difference to me, was going for acupuncture and taking traditional Chinese herbs

I'd never ever done anything like that before, I thought of acupuncture as being totally woo and not something I'd ever considered

Had my first session in the September, second one the following month and in early November had my third session- exactly 2 weeks later I got my BFP

Who knows whether it was all just coincidence but for me, I felt that acupuncture made the difference. It certainly wasn't cheap and I can see why others can be cynical especially when they've had it over a period of months etc.

At first, I was annoyed with myself that I hadn't tried it sooner- once I passed 12 months of TTC, that was when I started exploring alternative options and things that I'd never considered before

However, I took the approach that it was all just meant to be and didn't dwell on things too much and the pregnancy progressed, although I held my breath until the day DC2 was born, convinced that something else might go wrong!

Baby dust to you all Star

TurquoiseDress · 28/11/2019 22:37

@StephyRose

I'm sorry to hear about your MMC, it's a horrible time and you need the time to recover both physically and emotionally

We started TTC once the bleeding stopped properly- a good 3 weeks or so down the line from finding out about my MMC

I signed up for an ovulation app Ovia, I'd never used these before and I was determined to find out all about my cycles!

Also, I read about Ubiquinol on here and went through a few months on/off taking it. It helped me feel that I was doing something extra to help things but I don't know whether it made any difference.

It was certainly quite pricey!

TurquoiseDress · 28/11/2019 22:32

@Avocuddles

Was there anything you did differently/additional medical support during your successful pregnancy?

No there was absolutely nothing I did differently in that pregnancy, compared with my first one and second (which only lasted till the end of the first trimester)

To be honest, my first pregnancy I didn't even know I was pregnant til several weeks down the line and I had been drinking liberal amounts of wine etc.

Second pregnancy I knew much earlier and was much more cautious with doing all the right things and that ended in MMC.

I've glad that my story has given some positivity!

TwinkleStars15 · 28/11/2019 22:25

If any of you use the Clear Blue Advanced Ovulation Tests (the purple one) Amazon are selling a pack of 20 for £23, super cheap. Just rude red some as my bleeding has ramped up today. Got a GP appointment for Tuesday.

Avocuddles · 28/11/2019 21:46

@MissSparkles81 I'm still having some unusual discharge patterns (though no bleeding) over ten weeks after my miscarriage. Unfortunately whilst some are 'lucky' enough (said sarcastically as I appreciate that there is no luck at all when it comes to pregnancy loss) for things to revert to 'normal' quite quickly, I understand it's not unusual for it to take several cycles for the body to recover from a miscarriage. I also had some clotting a couple of weeks after both of my miscarriages even after I had had a negative test. I hope it doesn't take much longer for your symptoms to settle down.

MissSparkles81 · 28/11/2019 20:02

@anny27 it really is ... its been nearly 3 weeks now of bleeding/discharge ... I just want it over with so I can try and move on a wee bit.

Its reassuring to know that what im experiencing is normal. Thinking of you and sorry for your loss xx

Anny27 · 28/11/2019 19:35

So sorry @TwinkleStars15 💓 xxxx

Yes a lady on another thread had 3 CPs and has been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic so definitely worth speaking to your GP xxx

@MissSparkles81 strange isn't it! I am not sure it is ovulation but just wanting to get a negative pregnancy test now so I can move on with the cycle. I am also having stained discharge just the last bits being cleared out

MrsMGE · 28/11/2019 18:37

@TwinkleStars15 So sorry lovely ❤️ No words can express.

They do count CPs as they are early miscarriages. I think you neee to see your GP and get a referral to a recurrent miscarriage clinic with three consecutive losses. I've not gone through this myself, perhaps some other ladies on here (sadly) have got more experience?

I'm so sorry again ❤️ xxx

MissSparkles81 · 28/11/2019 17:46

@Anny27 I was literally just going to come on here and ask if anyone else was experiencing this. Im 2 weeks post "natural" Confused mc and last night and today been having some clumpy mucus (not completely ew) but still testing positive. The bleeding has stopped but still have some stained discharge.

TwinkleStars15 · 28/11/2019 15:52

@Anny27 @Avocuddles @ReeRi thank you Flowers Unfortunately I have had some more light bleeding and a negative frer, so yes it seems to have been a chemical. I was pregnant for a whole 2 days Sad I never thought when I started this journey that I would have had 3 loses. I am forever thankful for the daughter that I do have (who I never thought would have happened to me) so I know that I can count my lucky stars.

May I ask, what would your next steps be? Just continue ttc and see what happens, ask for some initial bloods, something else? This is my second loss in 3 months (I was 5 weeks last time), plus a missed miscarriage last year (11 weeks). Do they even count a chemical pregnancy as a loss?

Anny27 · 28/11/2019 15:44

I have only just finished bleeding and am testing positive still on pregnancy tests but have some EWCM??

We aren't TTC atall this cycle but I am confused haha. I thought hcg had to be 0 before you ovulated again.....maybe its not ovulation ewcm and some random post miscarriage cm instead.

@StephyRose think we're on another thread :D but seven seas ttc tablets really regulated my cycle

@Peach7744 welcome lovely , I don't have any experience sorry as only recently miscarried and I am going to wait a period as I ended up having a erpc:)

Avocuddles · 28/11/2019 15:42

Hi @Peach7744, so sorry to hear about your experience. I managed to conceive on the second cycle after my first miscarriage but unfortunately that pregnancy also failed. After the second loss I took a couple of months off TTC which I personally think was a good idea as I definitely benefited from having some time to heal physically and emotionally. There's no harm in TTC immediately but make sure you look after yourself and focus on your wellbeing as you've been through a lot x

Avocuddles · 28/11/2019 15:38

@TwinkleStars15 I have no problem with you posting the tests. As @ReeRi says it's unfortunately probably a waiting game over the next few days to see what happens. It does sound like it could be a chemical pregnancy, but you probably need to give a little longer to know for certain where you stand.

@StephyRose hi! I've miscarried twice unfortunately, and my periods are very irregular so I'm under referral to the fertility clinic though haven't had any treatment beyond tests / consultations so far. After my first loss I started acupuncture which I find very helpful - I go to a practitioner who specialises in fertility and pregnancy who also offers advice around supplements, lifestyle etc. If this is something you might be interested in I would recommend looking up Zita West accredited practitioners as they are trained to have extensive knowledge of miscarriage and fertility issues. At the advice of my acupuncturist I take Pregnacare Max - they're fairly expensive but apparently tick all of the boxes in terms of nutritional needs whilst trying to conceive and throughout pregnancy. The key benefit compared to other supplements is that the folic acid is in folate form which is more readily absorbed by the body. I also take 200mg of Ubiquinol along with a high strength vitamin c tablet to aid absorption - this is supposed to improve egg quality though may take several months to see the full benefits.
I hope you get another BFP soon and that it leads to your rainbow!

Peach7744 · 28/11/2019 15:33

Hello, hope it's ok for me to join this thread. I had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks on the 4th November and had medical management (picked up at private early scan, as we were going to tell my partners parents that weekend we were pregnant) I had no signs before that scan that anything was wrong. Did a negative pregnancy test on Friday 22nd and again to double check on Sunday 24th Nov.
Ttc again and using clear blue digital ovulation tests. Am hoping to get pregnant again ASAP (fingers crossed!) , does anyone have any experience of getting pregnant before 1st period after miscarriage?
Just would really help to talk to people that are in similar situations. Xxx

ReeRi · 28/11/2019 14:14

Hi @TwinkleStars15 I’m sorry your dealing with this and hope it is not what you think. I wouldn’t mind you posting the pics personally but it probably isn’t necessary as it sounds like they are still positive albeit getting fainter. I think it might be a waiting game unfortunately.

Anny27 · 28/11/2019 14:01

@turquoiseDress thanks for sharing. These things really help me remain positive!!

@TwinkleStars15 happy for you to PM me the photos lovely xx

TwinkleStars15 · 28/11/2019 08:26

Hi again, please can I ask your advice? This is driving me crazy and I need to ask people who may know the answers. I think I might be having my 3rd loss, possibly a chemical pregnancy. My first missed miscarriage was last year at 11 weeks and then a miscarriage 2 months ago at 5 weeks.

So, I’ve been testing since 8dpo and nothing, until 13dpo where I got an extremely light line on an internet cheapie. Tested again at 14dpo and again got a faint line on the cheapie and on a supermarket own brand. Did a Clear Blue Digi which said not pregnant (that was hard to see). Also had a slight bit of blood when wiping on two occasions so though AF was coming as the lines were so faint for 14dpo. I tested again this morning on internet cheapie and own brand and the line is fainter than yesterday, and I’m now 15dpo. Do you think this sounds like a chemical? I’ve had no more bleeding. Surely the lines should be a bit more obvious by now? The waiting is killing me, it’s awful. I didn’t want to post the pictures of the tests as I know how hard it can be seeing positive tests when you are ttc, but can if people are happy for me to. Any help would be really welcome right now SadFlowers

ReeRi · 28/11/2019 08:19

@MrsMGE Yes I think because we have booked a few days away I am looking forward to it a bit rather than just sitting at home thinking that our daughter should be with us. To anyone dreading Christmas, I recommend booking something fun to do or time away if you can do it!

StephyRose · 28/11/2019 08:09

@TurquoiseDress

Thank you so much for your post. I came onto this board looking for some encouraging stories as I have a MMC last week and had an EPRC last Thursday. It would have been our 1st baby.

Was literally looking for some fab stories as I feel that I will never get pregnant again or be able to carry to term at the moment ...and yours has really perked me up. Thank you :D

Folks where TTC again ... is there any supplements or dietary things you have done different this time?

The first time I took Vital Dha tablets, folic acid and vitamin D all as separate supplements ... but I've heard really great things about Seven Seas Trying for a Baby. Apparently they can regulate your periods as well, rather than them being unpredictable which mine were before BFP #1.

Thanks in advance xx

Avocuddles · 28/11/2019 07:06

@TurquoiseDress thank you for sharing your encouraging story! It's great to hear a success story.
Was there anything you did differently i
/ additional medical support during your successful pregnancy?
