TTC #1 and hot yoga?

danielasummer · 11/11/2019 11:50

Hi everyone, my DH and I are planning on TTC next month after a missed miscarriage in early October. We both tried hot yoga last night for the first time and absolutely loved it! But today I have been researching like a crazy person whether hot yoga is safe when TTC or if it impedes the process..

FYI we are both taking Zita West vitamin/vitafem, eating well, I don't drink and DH has cut down a lot, we don't smoke, I'm 27 and he's 28, he exercises a lot and both have a good BMI. I also track BBT and cervical music (although both are out of whack due to miscarriage). Will hot yoga ruin our chances of conception? Will be grateful to hear of your experiences, and if you have asked a doctor for their opinion on this x

@danielasummer hey lovely sorry for late reply hope you're enjoying the weekend! AF arrived with a vengeance yesterday, I knew it was coming so wasn't a big shock and actually I feel really positive that my cycle is bang on 28 days as it should be as I know it can sometimes be thrown out of sorts following a miscarriage. Went out with my bestfriend yesterday and got suitably drunk! Currently nursing a hangover in bed feeding myself with all the treats I can find! How are you feeling, how many days are you in to this cycle? How long are your cycles usually? I was so happy to pack away the themometer and opks, looking forward to a laid back month TTC! Might not be on MN as frequently but I'll stay in touch! Make sure you keep me posted on how you're getting on xxx

danielasummer · 21/11/2019 12:07

@Mystie aww no. Well I genuinely think it's not over until you have bleeding. Have you had AF yet? Temps can be very misleading - e.g. as it's cold we have our heating on, that can also affect our temps, so I'm trying not to read too much into mine at the moment.

It's great to have exciting things planned when you're waiting for something. Have a lovely time in Southwold! I've never been. We recently got married and with Christmas coming up we have no trips planned unfortunately!

I do love my job, but I have to be really careful not to get lonely, so I'm constantly meeting up with my mum, sister-in-law, grandmother etc as all of my friends have typical 9-5 jobs so unable to chat during the day.

EWCM has dried up now so hopefully we BD at the right time!

My day was lovely thank you. Just enjoying really long walks with the pup and cooking nice healthy meals! You are so organised!! I'd love to say I've done all of my Christmas shopping. Do you have any Xmas parties planned or did you pick it up just in case?

I wish I could say I went to the gym.. I always get at least an hour of active minutes on my fitbit though so that's something I guess! xx

Mystie · 20/11/2019 21:26

@danielasummer definitely out, had crippling headache for last few hours. Took my temp out of interest and it's dropped over half a degree since this morning! Actually amazed at how complex our bodies are even though it didn't deliver this month. At least I didn't waste another frer tomorrow!

Mystie · 20/11/2019 18:46

@danielasummer still no af bit another negative frer today, what am I like 🤣 bloating is worse than ever still and temp still high but I've read that it can stay high until af arrives and I'm not due on until Saturday so suspect that's normal. Feeling flat today but arranged a lovely weekend in Southwold for weekend following this one and fully intend to drink red wine and eat blue cheese to my hearts content!

Wow your job sounds great, must be nice teaching a variety of ages and different subjects. My eldest had a maths tutor for his GCSEs and it was worth every penny. You're in the perfect job to be able to work and still be at home with children.

I don't really know much about ewcm I'm afraid so don't know what to advise, I really don't get much at all at any time of the month so wouldn't even know how to check it!

How's your day been? I went Christmas shopping today and managed to get everything done pretty much even found time to get some nice Xmas party clothes from Zara. I'm so pleased I've continued to exercise and watch my diet while being in the 2WW. Quite a lot of women on here have said that the gym isn't advised after ovulation but I can't think of anything worse than not being pregnant and feeling fat and out of shape as well!

I really hope you fall this cycle!! 🤞🏼 x

danielasummer · 20/11/2019 07:52

@Mystie good morning, ok all good, we DTD but now I'm worried as I had egg white cervical fluid during the day then dried up by the evening when we BD, does that mean it had run out and wouldn't work? This is stressful and we only really started yesterday!!

How are you feeling? Has AF arrived? I really hope not, fingers crossed for you. Did you do the FRER?

Aw thank you. Yes she is perfect! We've been going for much longer walks since the miscarriage (I still have a little bump/flab which hasn't gone yet and it's mentally doing me good) and she has helped me through so so much. Love her! So cute that yours are the best of friends too!

So I teach both during the day and in the evening, Maths, English and 11+ to children from 3yrs to 18 yrs, so quite a mix!

Honestly your children will remember you being at home and that, to me, is success. I plan to quit when I have children and maybe do part time for a little while but the ultimate plan is to be a stay at home mum.

Glad you had a good declutter. It helps to clear the mind doesn't it?! xx

Mystie · 19/11/2019 16:33

@danielasummer I would say go for it! What's the worse that can happen, you don't fall pregnant? We DTD the day after bleeding stopped which I think was around 6 days after D&C, I have a really short cycle and started bleeding at CD19 so don't think I ovulated but it definitely didn't do any harm and was nice to feel close to my Oh after everything we'd been through in the weeks before.

I defo think the witch is on her way 🧙🏼‍♀️ been getting cramps this afternoon and have been in my usual premenstrual rage with everyone lol. Ordered a frer on Amazon which I'll do tomorrow or Thursday morning to know for sure although I reckon af will arrive before then! Oh well, onwards to next month!!! Isn't it amazing how you can symptom spot and convince yourself your pg 🤣

Ahh thanks for checking out the pups they are such characters your Summer is a beaut as well! How amazing are dogs!! When im feeling at my lowest they always manage to make my smile 😊

That's great that you work from home, do you tutor in the day time or evening, what age group do you teach, any specific subject?

I worked in PR and Marketing for 15 years when I lived in London but is never want to commute again. I have had some part time admin jobs in the last few years but to be honest the money is crap out here and having a family of 5 to look after keeps me pretty busy during the day. I do sometimes yearn for the work satisfaction I used to feel in my career but know that being here for the kids while they're young is a valuable job which they will hopefully thank me for one day!

Had a good day today though, cleared out our spare room which has literally been a dumping ground for months, ready for my friend who's arriving on Friday. Will be perfect timing to go out and have some fun we've booked the Ivy for dinner which will be a real treat!

I hope tonight goes well! I might try and DTD before the witch is in residence 🤣

danielasummer · 19/11/2019 16:11

@Mystie hi lovely, so sorry for my late reply! OMG your pups are gorgeous!! Been stalking your instagram today haha.

I'm a private tutor and my husband is a teacher. It works well as I work from home so can be with the pooch all day! Have you been out of work for long?

We didn't actually TTC in August - we got married a few weeks before in Italy so my temps were all over the place, so I stopped temping, then DTD and got pregnant! Did you use pre-seed? I've heard good things! But also that, yes, it isn't too romantic when inserting it with the syringe haha.

Weirdly today, I have loads of ewcm and even though I haven't had a period yet, I'm soooo tempted to DTD and try this month.. the pregnancy unit said to wait until my first period but I'm just so tempted and desperate to try! What do you think? Should I wait? The body plays cruel tricks doesn't it?!

How has your day been? x

OP posts:
Mystie · 18/11/2019 20:30

@danielasummer my instagrams are @sugarplumcup (long story but I used to have a cake decorating business called Sugarplum Cupcakes and never got around to changing the name!) the dog page is @mooandscoo funny that the messages didn't come through!

What do you and your husband do for work? I wish I was working again I'm sure it would be a great distraction from being at home on google!

Summer is such a beauty! Were you born here? I see you have some lovely pics in Romania, I've never been it looks beautiful!

I know what you mean about DTD so often it takes it out of you!! Especially when you've got lay with your legs in the air for half an hour afterwards! Did you use Preseed last time you were TTC? It's supposed to help with conception if you don't produce much ewcm. We tried it this cycle and it was fine although isn't that romantic having to insert it 15 minutes before BDing!

danielasummer · 18/11/2019 20:21

@Mystie like you, my MN name has my pup's name in it haha! Aw thank you, I haven't received a message? What are you instagram names?

Please don't feel you need to entertain pregnancy announcements. Honestly I have come off Facebook, unfollowed all pregnant friends from instagram, and not replying to pregnant family members (I sound awful, I know, but I'm safeguarding my mental health and I'm sure they will understand). No-one knows what we are individually going through and we MUST put ourselves first. Definitely go away and have something to look forward to. Maybe if you're relaxed it'll happen?

My day has been good thanks, busy with work and lovely walks with the pup! I won't ask how yours has been :( but I hope tomorrow is a little brighter for you. sending hugs

I've just heard that some tissue can be left behind so I don't want to risk it. I'm so desperate to move on from this and start TTC (I'll never forget this baby, but I want to be pregnant again so badly...)

Yes I've heard of it! We're going to start doing that when we try again. That's a lot of DTD though haha, we will be shattered I'm sure! My husband works 12 hour days so only time will tell whether we can keep it up! x

@danielasummer wow your Instagram page has so many followers!! Our page has become my baby since we started it last month I absolutely love taking pictures of the pups they are so funny! Summer is gorgeous I love golden retrievers! I've sent you a message from my dog page and my private one so you can follow if you want it's nice to put a face to the name!

It has been such a difficult day, not one but two pregnancy announcements and lots of tears. Hoping tomorrow will be easier I know I'm not still definitely out of the race but kind of resigned myself that it's a no now and planning a nice weekend away end of the month for me and my OH, possibly Brighton as there are lots of Airbnb's that allow dogs and the walks on that coastline are so lovely.

How has your day been? I don't blame you for getting a private scan to check everything is ok, why leave it to chance when you can have complete peace of mind. If I have another miscarriage I think I'm going to look into private healthcare for any future pregnancy.

Think we're going to try SMEP (sperm meets egg plan) next month are you familiar with it? I've read quite positive things and it's worth a shot! I probably will end up temping and doing opks if I'm honest is it does give you such an accurate fertile window I just need to get off google and stop testing twice a day 🤣

Can't you just do normal yoga but a vinyasa class so sweaty still instead?

Mystie · 18/11/2019 13:18

@danielasummer I'm so pleased you got a negative that's such great news!!! I remember what a relief it was felt like page one of a new book of possibilities 🥰

So turns out my best friend is pregnant, due on 22 July. On top of that I feel like af is definitely around the corner, getting all of my usual pre menstrual symptoms. Burst out crying in Sainsbury's this morning, not a good look on a Monday morning! Not sure whether I need to step back from the whole process tbh I feel like it's really starting to impact my wellbeing as it's all I can think about.

If it's not my month I'm going to stop tracking I think and relax for a few months and see what happens. Who knows we might end up falling in the same month! Be lovely to be able to share the journey together. My friend messaged me this morning and said, get a move on and get pregnant! I know she didn't mean it but it was probably the worst thing she could've said to me! Nothing more I want than to be in her shoes.

Your weekend sounded lovely well done on the steps, we've got 2 dogs a shar-pei called Mystie (hence the name) and a border terrier called Ruby. They're so funny we've even got an Instagram page for them 🤣 was going to take them out today but feel so sorry for myself I'm in bed watching walking dead instead!

danielasummer · 18/11/2019 08:00

@Mystie good morning, and good news, a bfn on two pregnancy tests (they were the cheap Superdrug ones but I can still count on them, right??)

Aw that sounds so lovely! It's great to have plans and distractions. Do you all live close by? We went to my in-laws for the weekend so lots of food and dog walking! We both have dogs of a similar age, Summer is mine and is a golden retriever and Holly is theirs and a fox red lab, both 19 months, and crazy when they're together! I racked up 17k steps yesterday so I was pretty happy!

That sounds like pregnancy symptoms!! I don't want to say too much and jinx anything but (OMG!!!) I had those in early pregnancy too! Please PLEASE keep me updated! So exciting!! xxx

@danielasummer hey lovely, I'm sorry you're feeling anxious about tomorrow I know how daunting it is, but hopefully it will be negative and then you can start to plan ahead and get a little bit of closure from the last few months. Will be really thinking of you x

We had a lovely day today, went into town and had a lovely meal with my mum, sisters and all the kids, it was pretty hectic but a lovely distraction from TTC!

I've been getting loads of symptoms over the weekend, nausea, dizziness, cramping, backache, sore nipples, driving me mad if I'm honest as I'm going to feel like a fool of period arrives and I've just imagined them all!

Had a temp drop today of course I've convinced myself it's implantation dip 🤣 did a test today and it was bfn of course! Going to try and wait til at least Tuesday to do another one.

Glad you've had a busy weekend, let me know how you get on tomorrow xxx 😘

danielasummer · 17/11/2019 18:13

@Mystie hey, it's been a reeeeally busy weekend which is great as I've just sat down for the first time and remembered that tomorrow I have to take a pregnancy test, now feeling all anxious!

Aww no I hope you're feeling better? Hope you had a good weekend! Are you feeling a little less cross with your OH?

Don't feel guilty for feeling relieved. One of my friends has also been messaging me feeling 'off' and I'm pretty sure her symptoms are all pregnancy-related.. so we'll see how I feel if I get the news.

Do you have any more symptoms? You totally have the right attitude of 'if I'm not, I get to enjoy xxx' which is what I'm hoping I will feel like when we start trying again!

Hope you had a good time at the Christmas lights! x

Mystie · 16/11/2019 12:28

@danielasummer hey lovely, hope you're having a good Saturday so far? I'm in the most horrendous mood really lucky my OH has gone to his parents for the weekend so he can avoid my moodiness... let's hope it's all those pregnancy hormones churning away! Took the dog out for a run this morning which was nice, I always feel better after exercise even if it isn't completely! Got a nice afternoon ahead, going to collect my sons first car from Bedford, he hasn't quite passed his test yet but is doing a crash course at the moment, always a special moment when you get the keys to your first car!

It turned out that my friend wasn't pregnant in the end, which she was really relieved about. I felt terribly guilty for also being relieved as I know that's not fair but like you said we all go through these challenges and it doesn't make us bad people.

In terms of my symptoms I'm still bloated in the evenings, boobs are fine though. Temp is getting higher and LH is creeping up to but don't think that really means anything until after around 10dpo.

One of my other closest friends works on a super yacht and has been over seas since February (ironically last time I saw her I fell pregnant) and she's back this week and coming to stay on Thursday/Friday next week. If I get a negative it will defiantly be a silver lining knowing I can let my hair down with her and not worry about doing anything I shouldn't be while pregnant! The Christmas diary is filling up pretty quickly now so I really don't think I'll be dwelling on a negative too much this month, I hate getting FOMO! 🤣

Decided I probably won't drink now until I know the result as I know it can affect implantation, I'm really not a big boozer so won't be the hardest thing to do. We're going to the Christmas festival with lights switch on tomorrow which will be a good distraction!

Hope you're feeling ok xx

danielasummer · 15/11/2019 17:52

@Mystie ahh thank you, and I'm so glad that has given you comfort. I wish I could say I was that positive and strong all of the time, as some days I wake up and pretty much howl all morning by myself which is a pretty dark time, but I do get moments of 'this has happened for a reason, life isn't all roses, and my time will come'. MN has honestly helped me so much, as has talking to people such as yourself. It certainly has made me feel less alone in a world when my 'real life' friends and family just don't understand (although I'm happy that they don't, as I don't wish what I've gone through on anyone).

How are you feeling towards your friend today? Has your day been a little better? I really hope it has. Sending you positive vibes and a virtual handhold.

Aww that's so exciting and must be so hard not to symptom spot! It's good to keep a clear head and feel balanced about whether it is or isn't a BFP, but I'm rooting for you, so please let me know! Fingers crossed for sustained high temps for you!!

Yes, definitely enjoy it as much as possible. Have a few tipples and drinks for me too (I don't drink but will be over-indulging on soft cheeses if I'm not pregnant by then!)

Hope you have a lovely weekend too. Any plans? x

OP posts:
Mystie · 15/11/2019 15:42

@danielasummer I can't imagine how hard that must be for you, I'm so sorry. I definitely think the universe has an individual plan for everyone and things are supposed to happen in the right order. Your strength really shines through in your words and are a real comfort, thank you.

More bloating last night and migraine symptoms today which I had when I was pregnant last time but all could be non related. I'm really trying not to symptom spot but it's so hard not too!! My OH thinks we should not test at all and just wait and see what happens but I know how hard that's going to be when next week arrives. I'm tracking LH levels anyway so that will be a pretty much yes or know by 11dpo and my temp may fall which will count me out as well before doing a test. How are you feeling?

Your Christmas plans sound wonderful!!! If I'm not pg I'm really going to enjoy this one as much as possible, next year could be very different - for both of us!

Have a lovely weekend 😊 x

danielasummer · 15/11/2019 08:56

@Bol87 thank you for your advice - my cycles are very long and irregular and this year (although I was pregnant for 7 weeks of it) I only ovulated 4 times, so my chances are low anyway (I'm 27, normal BMI, already had one miscarriage, not sure what's going on with my ovulation). Therefore I'm just being so cautious with what I'm doing in the lead up of TTC. I will definitely continue to eat what I like though - sushi is my favourite! - and give up after ovulation. Luckily I don't drink alcohol so that's not an issue. We are going to try normal yoga together which is a good activity to do when TTC and when pregnant and it's something we both enjoy :) Thank you so much for your advice though. Sometimes I can convince myself into thinking one way but I do need others' opinions too!

I love Go Ape! Did you get a BFP? x

OP posts:
danielasummer · 15/11/2019 08:53

@Mystie aw lovely I'm so sorry you're feeling that way :( I honestly know how it feels. My cousin and I announced our pregnancies to each other on the same day (our babies would have been a few weeks apart) and honestly, I am so envious of her as her pregnancy is going well and only a few short weeks after telling her, I lost mine. I totally know how you feel. I have had to delete Facebook so that I can't see people's pregnancy announcements. You're not alone in this. Just know that her time has come now, and yours will come soon. We're all just following the trajectory of ours lives and at one point, perhaps when you were having your previous children, she was really jealous of you but didn't say anything. We're all fighting an internal battle and unfortunately for you and I, it's our time to fight our battle. We'll have peace one day when our babies are in our arms.

Anyway, fingers, toes, everything crossed for you for next week! Have you had any other symptoms?

Your chilled Christmas sounds lovely! We always go to my grandmothers for a big 9 course feast (we're Italian), so lots of people, lots of shouting (happy shouting!), it'll be lovely! Trying to put the fact that I should have a rather large baby bump out of my mind. Didn't feel like putting up a tree this year but I know I will do it as I do normally love Christmas. x

Bol87 · 14/11/2019 17:28

Please don’t stop doing your regular activities while TTC. You’ll go insane. It could take months. Hot yoga will not stop you conceiving. Nor will hot tubs. Or Saunas. Or steam rooms. These things should be avoided once you are in fact established as pregnant (after your missed period). Giving up things you enjoy makes TTC even more mentally draining when it doesn’t happen first time. Carry on doing yoga, carry on enjoying the foods you love, have a drink if you drink (maybe just not in excess although think about how many babies have probably been conceived while drunk).. if it starts to take a long time to conceive, you can research some more but at the start of your journey, relax & live life as normal!

This pregnancy, I did Go Ape the day before my missed period. I was relatively certain I might be pregnant but I hadn’t missed a period and didn’t want to miss my friends birthday! No harm done & enjoy being Tarzan for the day Smile

Mystie · 14/11/2019 14:21

@danielasummer glad you're ok lovely. I feel terrible today really hormonal and tearful. My best friend text me earlier and told me she's 4 days late 😏 She has a 9 month old daughter and we have been excited about getting pregnant around the same time and I really want to be so happy for her but i really wanted it to be me first, I know that sounds really selfish but she's not even trying and will be annoyed if she is as she's going to Barbados for Christmas and wants to be able to enjoy that. Never realised I'd feel like this as haven't been through this before but really makes me realise how hard it must be for women who try for years and have to watch their friends and family getting pregnant and having babies. I'm sure the feeling will pass , I know it doesn't come from a horrible place and that I will be happy for her if it is positive, I just really wish it was me!

Fingers crossed all of these mood swings will be leading to a BFP next week, of course I will keep you updated and likewise!!!

Been trying to keep busy, I don't work so days are pretty empty during school hours but I've been trying to get organised for Christmas and start feeling a bit festive. We're having it at home this year just the 5 of us which will be really nice and chilled. What are you doing for Christmas? X

danielasummer · 14/11/2019 14:05

@Mystie Ooh not long to go then, if you keep busy I'm sure it'll go quickly. You'll keep me updated on this thread? :) I can imagine it's hard not to read into things when you want something so badly but only time will tell I guess.

My day was ok thanks, and I have had most of today off too which has been nice, so keeping really busy doing odd jobs and meal prepping! How has yours been? x
