Being unrealistic with myself

ScaredFlamingo · 21/10/2019 20:52

Wondering if anyone else experienced this... I am already setting unrealistic expectations for myself. I had my coil out 2 weeks ago, had sex maybe twice since and for some reason am disappointed I am not pregnant ... any tips on how to not do this to myself??

You've got to ovulate before AF so that there's an egg to leave your system and create a period. I think tracking ovulation felt a bit more positive and once you know you've ovukated you know you are in a cycle x

Peaceandloves · 26/10/2019 09:58

Took my last pill 28/9 ovulation sticks said I was peaking on 13/10 and most likely that day or next. I used an app called Clue to track everything to help me try and work out a cycle and it was rly useful otherwise I wouldn't have known to even test

Deli111 · 26/10/2019 08:02

Congratulations! I love hearing that. How long were you off the pill? I’m still waiting for af xxx

goodforbrian · 25/10/2019 21:51

@Peaceandloves oh wow that is really uplifting that it can happen so quick and that the sticks work so well! I will be doing exactly that this month and hope I get a BFP too! Congrats again and thank you for the help x

Peaceandloves · 25/10/2019 21:20

@goodforbrian yes I just used the sticks everyday. I was moreso hoping to just get a clue as to whether anything at all was happening but I had one day peak and we dtd that day. I only bought cheap ones x

goodforbrian · 25/10/2019 20:42

@SunshineAlways I understand, I really do. Before AF came for me today I was in the same predicament. When you want a baby so badly but you feel like you can't do anything about it. It's so hard to feel let down by your own body 😥 But as PP said, you could very well still be ovulating even without having a period. So have lots of sex (lol) and maybe, hopefully, you will get a nice surprise (BFP!) and all this worrying will feel like a distant memory. I'll keep everything crossed for you 🤞🏽

SunshineAlways · 25/10/2019 20:08

Thanks @goodforbrian. It's a strange thing, waiting for your body to do something you have no control over.

I'm mindful that I could be waiting weeks or months and no one (eg doctors) can tell me one way or another.

goodforbrian · 25/10/2019 20:02

@Overthinker1988 It sounds like you are very logical, it's admirable. I really hope the next few months are easier on you and you get you BFP and it sticks 🤞🏽 Take care of yourself x

@SunshineAlways I know how you feel! The waiting game is so intense. It will come for you soon hopefully and you can start planning ahead and begin trying for your BFP!

@Peaceandloves Congratulations!! May I ask, how did you track ovulation without a period to chart it? Did you use the ovulation sticks? Thank you 😊

Peaceandloves · 25/10/2019 19:13

Keep trying even if your periods haven't returned as you may still ovulate. I'm 12dpo and got my positive test today xxx

SunshineAlways · 25/10/2019 18:31

I'm off the pill but can't start trying as my periods haven't returned. I feel like it's all supposed to work but nothing goes to plan.

Overthinker1988 · 25/10/2019 16:28

@goodforbrian1988 Maybe, time will tell I guess. I did some reading around MCs and I came across stories of other women who said they didn't feel that upset about theirs, even thought the pregnancy was wanted. It seems that everyone reacts differently.
For me the pregnancy never felt "real" i.e. it never progressed past two lines on a test and a late period, and I didn't allow myself to be excited about the future, in case this happened. When it happened it was just like getting my period, not the intense pain/heavy bleeding that you'd get if the pregnancy was further along.
Anyway, I don't mean to hijack the thread. Sending good wishes to all TTC peeps.

goodforbrian · 25/10/2019 11:59

@Overthinker1988 poor you. That's a lot to happen in two cycles. You sound really strong. Maybe you are in a little bit of shock and that's why you aren't feeling like you thought you would?

goodforbrian · 25/10/2019 11:58

Haha @ScaredFlamingo stealth mode sounds familiar! Well, AF came for me overnight with a bang 🙈 I am upset that I am not pregnant this month but as you say I feel happy that this is the first day of my new cycle and I can start trying again soon! Hope AF comes for you soon 🤞🏽

Overthinker1988 · 25/10/2019 10:56

Yeah I know how you feel, started TTC in September and convinced myself I was pregnant, was then so gutted when period came Sad
Got pregnant October (second cycle) but didn't last long, lost it at 5 weeks (yesterday).
I actually don't feel as gutted at the loss as I felt when my period came last month. I just feel...mild disappointment/sadness but not the grief that others have talked about. I almost feel guilty about not being more upset. I think it's maybe because over the past 2 months I've adjusted my expectations. I accepted it could take up to a year or more and that I may have a MC thrown into the mix as well.
I'd say expect the worst and hope for the best to avoid disappointment, and take it one day at a time, try to keep busy with nice activities as well.

ScaredFlamingo · 25/10/2019 09:49

@goodforbrian No sign as yet! I had some PMS and cramping the first few days of the week but it seems to have disappeared again...! If it’s gonna come I’d rather just get it out the way so I can start trying again haha! Promised my partner I wouldn’t put any pressure on it so having to do this is stealth mode haha!

How's it going @ScaredFlamingo ? AF shown yet? I have no sign or symptom of anything atm 🤷🏽‍♀️ It makes obsessing so much harder 😂 Just hoping my body is silently getting back to normal after being on the pill 🤞🏽

Kim0485 · 24/10/2019 14:13

I've been exactly the same, TTC out 1st and putting so much pressure on myself! So nice to know I'm not alone in feeling that way. 🤞🏻 For everyone

ScaredFlamingo · 23/10/2019 10:36

Now having all the symptoms that my period is coming in next couple of days... which makes me sad but maybe next month haha!

LazyDogFox · 23/10/2019 09:08

Just here to say I feel exactly the same. Came off the pill in August and assumed I’d be pregnant now. HA let’s all laugh together. Sending hugs and patience to everyone 💐

goodforbrian · 23/10/2019 08:15

I think I will join you and get some ovulation sticks too @Deli111 ! According to my last bleed I should be due AF tomorrow, but so far no sign and another negative pregnancy test this morning 🙈 I'm a woman obsessed!

Deli111 · 22/10/2019 20:18

Hi goodforbrian, I might try ov sticks, haven’t got any but I must buy some! Yes it’s so annoying. I was sure I ovulated as had pains, but bfn.. they do say it takes a while but I’m hoping my at comes soon xx

goodforbrian · 22/10/2019 18:11

Sorry @Deli111 just realised you said you haven't bled at all. Maybe the ovulation sticks could help you? Or blood tests to pinpoint ovulation? I know how you feel, it's so hard.

goodforbrian · 22/10/2019 18:07

Hi @Deli111 As soon as I came off my pill I had what I think was a withdrawal bleed that lasted 4 days but felt very period-like if that makes sense. It's so confusing 🙈 I've roughly worked out my ovulation dates from that but could be completely wrong. Have you not bled at all? It's so hard isn't it? I just want to know if my body is working how it should be.

Deli111 · 22/10/2019 16:44

It is so hard... can I ask for those of you who have come off the pill, have you had a period yet? I’m waiting.... yet no bleeding at all. Makes it so damn hard to know if I’ve ovulated....

ScaredFlamingo · 22/10/2019 11:15

@TheBeesKnee Keep positive!! It must be hard, I can only imagine, but I have everything crossed that it’ll happen soon!
