Hi ladies . I’ve just finished my period today and my husband and I are now going to start ttc our first baby after having my Mirena removed last week.
Is anyone else TTC this month ? I’ve ordered some ovulation tests after I said I wouldn’t because I’ve read so many success stories on them so I thought I might as well just so I have some in case !

I’d love for people to share their journey with me ! I’m 24, 25 in two weeks . So excited for our journey . I’m trying to figure out this whole lingo on here and stuff sorry! X

@notalwaysalondoner and @han2291 Thank you!

I wasn't doing any temping or charting as I was adamant that November was going to be an off month for us as I was travelling for work and my previous cycle was 45 days!

We just DTD on the weekend and Monday, and then I was away until the Friday when we gave it another go! I used an OPK on the Friday when I got back and saw a line and on the Saturday I did another and the line had become v faint!

I only did these OPKs just to check that I was actually ovulating after my v long cycle in October and because my DH said that I might as well just check!

I can't believe it but I have done two first response tests and both are showing a strong line! 🙌

notalwaysalondoner · 07/12/2019 10:20

@Konbanwa that’s amazing, congratulations!!! So happy for you!! Were you doing OPKs or charting or anything?

I’m increasingly coming to the conclusion that all the charting and tests and everything make zero difference as they’re not accurate enough for you to actually change your behaviour - like if you get a positive OPK you might DTD that day but then you might have done that anyway...! I might abandon all of them next month and just DTD every two days as that’s what we’re doing anyway...

GaaaaarlicBread · 07/12/2019 09:48

@Readyforthis I have no idea about my cycles love, I’m totally clueless ! Just guesstimated from my last cycle after having the coil out . It was a 35 day cycle so I’m just guessing . I casually asked my mum what my periods were like as a teen and she said I had 35 day cycles so I think it’s pretty accurate now . She was like ‘why??’ I was like ‘just wondered my 😂😂

@Konbanwa congratulations on your BFP!!

How long did it take for you all to figure out how long your cycles were. I’m only just off the pill having been on it for 10 years, and worried this isn’t going to be as easy as it sounds

GaaaaarlicBread · 07/12/2019 07:12

@TeddyToaster I know it’s become a roller coaster on here ! I’m hoping we can all see ourselves through to getting BFP soon .
I heard that BBT isn’t all accurate , but I have also heard the best advise off people who said as soon as they stopped chatting all together , they got pregnant . Because you think you’re most fertile in a time that you’re actually not and a lot of people miss the egg !

@han2291 hey Han , well I hope AF doesn’t come and you do get a BFP! I was 6 days late when AF turned up for me this month . I was so gutted . I hope you get a BFP x

@Konbanwa I haven't looked on here for a few weeks but what lovely news to see ☺️ huge congratulations to you! Hope everything goes well.

@TeddyToaster right there with you, I haven't been on here for a while as I could feel my anxiety increasing a bit!

I know some of you ladies have experienced BFNs and late AF so could use some advice.. she's been coming like clockwork for the last 4 months but this month I'm 2 days late. Took a pregnancy test this morning and it was a BFN 🙁 how late have some of you been until AF decided to return?

TeddyToaster · 06/12/2019 23:11

Wow, that was a lot of ups and downs to catch up on!

Took a step back after my last gynaecology appointment because I was annoyed.. Not for anything major but just that he told me temp charting is not at all accurate (I showed him the chart that showed two separate temp spikes in one month and asked about it). I got annoyed because I felt like I'd been wasting my time.

TTC and forums can start to have a bit of a crappy effect on my mental health so have to ration myself, lol.

I'm going to look at getting a different type of monitor (a non-bbt one) and then try again - probably next cycle in all honesty.

TTC sucks a55.

Konbanwa · 06/12/2019 22:08

@Itsemily and @CurbsideProphet Thanks so much!

I hope that you guys get your BFPs soon, and thanks so much for all the support!

Now just have to hope that all goes well!

CurbsideProphet · 06/12/2019 21:57

@Konbanwa CONGRATULATIONS!!

@Readyforthis thanks for joining us ! I’m so happy you’re taking the dive into the TTC journey .

I used digital clear blue in October and although they are clear results , either a blank circle , a flashing smiley or solid smile , rather than trying to work out whether the line is dark etc , they’re expensive and I just got obsessed with them . I would say internet cheapies are better ! If I was to start tracking again I’d use them . So much cheaper and you Can do more than one a day without worry ! X

Hey guys! Well AF hasn't arrived so I took a test and got a BFP!!!!

I can't believe it because I was sure we had missed ovulation this month but it seems we managed to catch it!

I'm so shocked but so happy!

Readyforthis · 06/12/2019 11:55

HI ladies. I’m 26 and have just come off the pill to ttc #1. This is all a mine field, and I don’t even know where to begin. I’ve got some internet cheapie OPKs, are the clue blue digital more reliable. How has it worked for everyone else? I will read back through the thread after work 😊

CurbsideProphet · 06/12/2019 10:57

@Itsemily we do make the best brews Grin

Maybe have December off officially TTC? It can be really stressful time anyway.

I only track my period and guesstimate when I'm ovulating. I bought some OPKs but I'm leaving them for January.

notalwaysalondoner · 06/12/2019 10:29

Aw @Itsemily it can be so stressful and it’s difficult at this time of year.

Don’t worry about not tracking as this month - I’m still temping and OPKs and so far (CD15) still not clear what happened! Haven’t had a positive OPK but my temperature has been high until today so my app is saying I ovulated on CD12. We’ve DTD every other day since CD7 so hopefully we got it...! I’m genuinely not sure that testing and tracking helps at all as I don’t find the results at all obvious so it doesn’t mean I do anything differently anyway! I mean maybe some women have really obvious CM and dark dark OPKs and very predictable temperature changes so they can actually time DTD based on the results, but I’m not convinced!

Blondeandbroody · 06/12/2019 08:08

@Itsemily glad you're feeling better?

If you can forget about it and let it be a surprise great definitely do that! If you struggle maybe try tracking ovulation or something so you can be confident you've DTD at the right times to take the pressure off that element? X

GaaaaarlicBread · 06/12/2019 07:34

@CurbsideProphet we did have a cuppa (I’m northern too and DH studied your north) . I apologised and he said it was just a bad day (the incident at work for his team), and that he didn’t realise how stressed I was and how things are bothering me . The not having anyone in real life to talk to is hard and DH said ‘well what about Mumsnet?’ I was like it already use it’ 🤭

I think I need to just forget about TTC and let it be a surprise when it happens .
I’m glad you’re a northerner , we are the best people :) haha

Ah @Itsemily Flowers Cake
For me this time of year is making ttc feel worse; there are families with children in every ad campaign, elf on the bloody shelf all over facebook, it's dark all of the time, and everyone is knackered already.

I think we've all that night where just feel absolutely crap about it all. Give him a hug and have a cup of tea (I'm sorry, I'm Northern and a cup of tea always our first suggestion) x

GaaaaarlicBread · 05/12/2019 21:01

I had a breakdown this eve after DTD but DH didn’t finish . But something bad at work happened today and it wasn’t the best night to do it really but I just sat in the bathroom and cried . Not like I’m even out this month as AF isn’t due yet but it’s the not knowing . It’s killing me and I’m not tracking either so I just have no idea if I’m fertile , what’s happening etc . DH doesn’t know what to do he is beside himself with how stressed I am tonight

Meant two days not two weeks

hopefulhel · 05/12/2019 19:20

Back again ladies, so this month I tried to chill out and didn't use any opks but dtd every two weeks since cd12 currently on cd23. Hoping to dtd again tomorrow and hoping that'll give me a fighting chance this month

notalwaysalondoner · 04/12/2019 23:35

I feel literally exactly the same, the longer it goes on the more I’m so worried it won’t happen at all, even though it’s so early in the scheme of things! Just as I think I’ve figured out my cycle it throws something up - like tonight I took an OPK fully thinking it would be positive and it was barely there so now i don’t know what to think! So glad there are others in the same boat so please do keep moaning so we know we’re not alone!

CurbsideProphet · 04/12/2019 22:52

Cheyanne101 I know, I wish I could be visited by the ghost of Christmas Future to tell me that I definitely will get pregnant. The not knowing does always seem to be lingering in the back of my mind.

CurbsideProphet · 04/12/2019 22:49

I think the rule on this thread should be that none of us should feel we must apologise for having a moan!

ItsEmily yes we properly spoke about how many days a month I could actually get pregnant. DH isn't stupid, but he hadn't really thought about it before now. We're on the same page now, so that makes me feel better Smile
