Hi ladies . I’ve just finished my period today and my husband and I are now going to start ttc our first baby after having my Mirena removed last week.
Is anyone else TTC this month ? I’ve ordered some ovulation tests after I said I wouldn’t because I’ve read so many success stories on them so I thought I might as well just so I have some in case !

I’d love for people to share their journey with me ! I’m 24, 25 in two weeks . So excited for our journey . I’m trying to figure out this whole lingo on here and stuff sorry! X

@Itsemily thanks for the reply hun. & I do get cm around my expected ovulation & I do get the flashy & then I do get the peak which I did assume then I was deffo ovulating but now I'm thinking would it deffo go to static even if my egg doesn't drop ? Or would it stay at flashy it's so frustrating waiting till the 21st lol

Niffler1988 · 06/10/2019 21:19

@itsemily I'm hoping that I have tested too soon, so I'm gonna try my hardest to wait until I get my AF. My mum said that with all three of her pregnancies (one resulted in MMC) she didn't get a BFP on any test until she had bloods done 10 days after her AF was due, so who knows.

I've put on a Disney movie to hopefully cheer myself up!

GaaaaarlicBread · 06/10/2019 20:15

@Konbanwa yes I know! I was saying that the other day, I can't believe how little they taught us in school. I mean it doesn't even seem that long ago that I was leaving school for college in 2010, it's scary We just weren't taught anything. I had zero clue about the intensity of everything. My boobs hurt so bad when my coil was removed, and I am sure they've got bigger lol! It's such a shock isn't it?

@TeddyToaster My husband and I have said we will DTD every other day, if we cannot manage every day. He is not starting work til late tomorrow, and is off Tuesday (nursing shifts!) and I am not back to work yet, so I think we should be ok for the next few days of managing to fit things in (no pun intended). So you should be ok but it can be so difficult I get that.

@Prinnyshelly that's a tough one, I hope you get a positive soon! Yeah it sounds like it has potentially picked up your surge and displayed Peak Fertility of the static smiley face, but then your body has not released an egg. Did you get the flashing smiley first? and then the static one? Any signs of ovulation , cervical mucus etc?

Hi girls, I was wondering if anyone could help me. Me and my partner have been ttc for about a year I have only 1 tube due to previous eptopic many years ago! We decided to go to a fertility doctor he done a scan & said everything seems ok I'm going back for a blood test on 21st around ovulation & I may need a tubal flush. My question is I do the clear blue tests & I do get the static smiley which is meant to mean ovulation pending but does that deffianlty mean im going to ovulate or is there a possibility I could get the surge but my eggs won't drop ? I don't really understand it

Konbanwa · 06/10/2019 19:24

@TeddyToaster I don't see how it would hurt matters as I'd assume it would just be the same as you DTD every other day when I comes to sperm quality. Could ensure that there are some 'fresh' guys for the next round?

My only concern would be that it could add quite a bit of pressure to TTC, which is already quite a stressful process.

TeddyToaster · 06/10/2019 19:17

@itsemily Thanks hun. That's really helpful. Halo

Ladies, I know this is tmi but would it 'work' if - if we couldn't dtd (do the deed) every other day - db gave a five finger salute. Would that also help improve the quality of the sperm, you think? X

Konbanwa · 06/10/2019 19:11

@Itsemily Thanks for such a nice welcome!

Tracking cycles seems to be so much more complicated than we were lead to believe at school for sure!

I bought some OPKs from Sainsbury's the other week but have resisted starting down that road so far. We'll see how long that lasts, ha!

And yes, all this TTC stuff seems so stressful and yet I'm only at the beginning!

Don't even get me started on the crazy symptoms my body seems to be going through now I have natural cycles! I thought crazy sore boobs before my period were a thing of the past but no Shock

GaaaaarlicBread · 06/10/2019 19:05

@Konbanwa thank you so much for joining us, we have such a lovely little thread going on! Congrats on taking the dive TTC. It is so scary but so exciting also.
I got so caught up in all the Ovulation facts, figures, all that jazz and literally broke down the other day to my husband saying how I had no idea how complexed it all was-and caved in to using the tests! DOn't do it, it's obsessive and can be pricy! lol

Hoping for lots of magic to happen to all of us x

Hi everyone! We have just officially started TTC #1 this week after I came off the minipill at the end of August! Both me and DH are 30 and have decided noes the time to take the plunge.

I think I might be ovulating this weekend so have been trying to DTD as much as possible, but I'm staying away from OPKs for now. I know I will just get too obsessed haha!

Hope everyone is ok, and it will be great to have a some people to chat with through this journey! It's exciting but also terrifying!

GaaaaarlicBread · 06/10/2019 18:56

@TeddyToaster I can't relate with the low sex drive fully, but when I started an Epilepsy medication two years ago after unsuccessful previous treatments for seizures, it caused me to have general low energy so when I was getting in from 13 hour shifts at the time, I was extra extra tired and just couldn't be arsed! It was horrible as I wanted to have that relationship with my husband but just couldn't get in the mood! But I have a friend who suffers with low sex drive and her and her partner wanted to start a family so in the end what she did was DTD when she was due to be most fertile. So she tracked ovulation for a few months, and then DTD when her calendar predicted best, and she now has two boys and conceived in the two months trying for both!

@Niffler1988 Mega fingers crossed that you maybe tested a bit too early and it hasn't picked things up yet! Let's hope AF doesn't arrive! I feel like my sex drive has gone up since having the coil out, so even though I was OK once I got used to my old epilepsy meds, my husband seems a bit like unsure how to deal with me being extra affectionate lol!

@CooperLooper Hi! Welcome 💕

I have started using Clear Blue ovulation kit , 10 tests for £14 from Boots . I was a bit hesitant but I’m glad I got it as it’s detected my high fertility for two days now and has matched with my app ( I use P.C it’s called) which tracks ovulation, pregnancy etc too. I used my first one 4 days after my period ended . So far so good!

Hey everyone :) we're just starting our TTC journey too, had my implant out yesterday and just clueless about when my cycle will return or what to expect.

What OPKs do people use, which do you recommend? Does everybody use them and consider them essential?

Niffler1988 · 06/10/2019 14:10

@han2291 @Itsemily so I've just got a BFN but I'm not 'due' until Thursday. I'm a bit disheartened but know that I could have just tested too early. My problem is that my ovulation is a bit all over the place so although my app predicts O, I never know how accurate it is. I've ovulated as late as day 30 (which is today) so may try to DTD tonight! But I'm determined to wait it out til next weekend to test again if AF doesn't arrive!

@TeddyToaster I'm the one with the high sex drive, feels like I've picked the only man with a low sex drive in the entire world!

TeddyToaster · 06/10/2019 12:00

@han2291 No, I stopped it last October after I was hospitalised with a ruptured ovarian cyst. It was likely caused by me being on the pill as I'd had loads of side effects from it! X

han2291 · 06/10/2019 10:54

@Itsemily hahah YES exactly 😂 but really it seems to be an exact sciences which turns it into some military operation, which I don't want it to be! But the planner in me can not be spontaneous and if I stay one step ahead I feel like I can control the situation.. which of course we can't, not 100% anyway!

@Niffler1988 fingers crossed they're pregnancy symptoms! Really hope you're not getting sick. When would AF be due?

@TeddyToaster had you been taking the pill? My sex drive was non existent until a few weeks after stopping it, which I've read is pretty normal ☺️ I'm sure you'll get your mojo back!

TeddyToaster · 06/10/2019 10:40

Hiya ladies.. I'm ttc too. We've been NTNP (not trying, not preventing) for a while but I'm currently on my period so am going to tell my boyf that we need to get to it! Halo

My main problem is that I have a really low sex drive.. Anyone else have this problem?

I've got an Ovusense to help me keep track of my cycles so hopefully we'll hit the sweet spot sooner rather than later.

Fingers crossed for the baby dust, ladies!

GaaaaarlicBread · 06/10/2019 09:48

@niffler1988 well I really hope you’re not getting poorly ! 😩 let’s hope it’s Pregnancy symptoms hey!
I feel sorry for them too. I can see the spontaneous view but equally we need to plan lol! I’ve done another ovulation test today and it’s still a flashing smiley so I’m happy . Part of me was really worried that for some reason yesterday was a false reading but CB are known to be very accurate from what I’ve read and it has matched up with my apps so I’m feeling positive. Fingers crossed we have success on ovulation and this could be our month 💜

Niffler1988 · 06/10/2019 08:49

@han2291 I haven't tested yet, I'm too scared! My symptoms currently are light headed and sometimes headaches. Acne that I never usually get. Nausea in general. Hungry! And as of yesterday a sniffle. Fatigue. All of this could mean I'm either sick or pregnant!

@Itsemily it's so sad for those Women! DH says he wants it to be spontaneous but at least he doesn't say he feels used!

I love this community too! Feels nice to know you're not crazy!

GaaaaarlicBread · 06/10/2019 07:28

@Niffler1988 I know it’s so sad isn’t it , I have read some awful stories from women (and from the meds Point of view too) and I felt so sad for them . Luckily my Husband had a good day at work yesterday and he’s just left for his morning shift now. He said he would tell me if he felt used and that if a man wants a baby too then it involves DTD lol

@han2291 I know same here ! So I used to be thinking 🤔 how have you got pregnant what have you done ?! lol I just remember Mean girls ‘ don’t have you will get pregnant and you will die’ that scarred me for ages haha

@LH1987 no symptom spotting yet but I’m sure I will after ovulation this week! 😬

I Iove our little support group here 💕 @gemgem1404 fingers crossed 🤞🏼

@Itsemily just looked back and saw your comment about friends in school getting pregnant accidentally..!! We were raised that a boy LOOKS at you and bam you're pregnant 😂 it is soooo much more complicated than that, I wish it was simple!

han2291 · 06/10/2019 01:17

@Niffler1988 how are the symptoms going? Did you end up taking a test? ☺️ fingers crossed!

@Itsemily yay for the smiley face!!! I got my positive OPK on Thursday.. I don't know why but something about seeing the 2 dark lines is super satisfying 😂 I'm a little concerned as that was cycle day 18 and my 2 natural cycles so far since stopping the pill have been 27 and 26 days.. hopefully my body is still in the process of sorting out the hormones..

Hi to the other ladies that joined ☺️ I love this sense of community (and that I can vent to you guys instead of my husband hahaha).

Niffler1988 · 06/10/2019 00:01

It's really sad that some women experience their partners feeling 'used'. They agreed to try, so I don't get that line of thinking!!

I am currently in the midst of symptom spotting! Every twinge and sniffle! But its cycle 1 so I'm trying not to get my hopes up!

lou1904 · 05/10/2019 22:54

@LH1987 I did last month! I realise it was the first month not using any protection so understood it would be extremely lucky if we fell pregnant straight away, but my breasts got big, had more discharge and was like that's it I'm pregnant!!Grin I'm going to try and not read into that this month... I say that now though...!

LH1987 · 05/10/2019 21:00

Hi all, I feel this is going to start to be a miniature support group! In that vein, is anyone else going crazy trying to pick up on pregnancy 'symptoms'.

gemgem1404 · 05/10/2019 18:32

@Itsemily this is why I'm trying to keep it relaxed but it's difficult when you realise how small a window we have 😅. Hoping we all conceive soon Grin
